IE7 freezes on loading yahoo.com, but not firefox [Moved from IE]

Q: IE7 freezes on loading yahoo.com, but not firefox [Moved from IE]

I have this weird problem where I cannot load yahoo.com on my IE7 browser. I can load it on my Firefox browser, but I'd rather use one instead of two; and I need Internet Explorer for using Windows Update.

I can only view yahoo.com, when I'm in safe-mode.
I've done a virus scan with AVG and Windows Defender and both found nothing.
I've also uninstalled and reinstalled IE7, and it still happens.
Here's a Hijackthis script (I'm clueless in this area):

oh, I should've mentioned that on my parent's computer they can load yahoo.com with no problem and they have at least twice as many toolbars as me.

Well I went ahead and uninstalled the toolbar, and that didn't help either.

Preferred Solution: IE7 freezes on loading yahoo.com, but not firefox [Moved from IE]

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: IE7 freezes on loading yahoo.com, but not firefox [Moved from IE]

Well I went into safe mode and loaded the site up just fine, then in IE7-it just finally loaded up.(that was a couple days ago).
But now sometimes I'll find a few random sites where it freezes up in IE7 and when I go into safe mode and load it up, it seems to fix it in Normal mode.

PC World.com, also gave me that. And a link inside PC world, did the same thing. Then I went into Safe mode again, then normal mode again and that loaded, from being froze too.

Thing is I keep finding sites where it will freeze on me, but I've been using my parents IE7 as well on those same site and their browser never froze once, and this computer has been infected before once (their computer), but my computer is CLEAN. I even have uniblue registry booster to scan my computer as well (note that I put this on after having these IE7 problems).

I have also reformatted my hard drive, just 12 hours after my first post, but this problem came back. I'm really clueless as to what's going on, or if I happen to have a very stealthy virus (have 2 anti-viruses, 1 anti-spyware program running on my computer all the time). Help Me!

under Windows XP I use Firefox for my Yahoo email. I just started getting an envelope when I opened my email list that took up half the page. When I open an email, it would show in that window and I found it annoying. I tried to right click the space to delete it and nothing was working. It is now gone but when I click on my email to open it, the address bar above just keeps rotating and the email never opens. I can open my emails on Firefox on other computers so something must have loaded onto my machine. I don't know where to start looking. I deleted and reloaded Firefox but it's still not working. The address bar keeps spinning and I have to close yahoo or make another search. It seems to only be on this computer with yahoo mail. I am at a loss

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 with IE 8. I cannot get any web pages to load. It doesn't even try, immediately goes to "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." If you try to enter a URL into the address bar, it then resolves to "The address is not valid" with http:/// in the address bar. Firefox does the same.

I can connect to the internet both wired and wireless. Web pages will not load, but Norton, Java, iTunes, and Microsoft updates will connect, update and install. I can ping Yahoo.

Have tried loading pages with Norton and Windows Firewall disabled, still nothing. Have reset all IE options. Have reset winsock & tcp/ip stack. Have run Anti-Malware with with only a tracking cookie found. No other antimalware software installed other than Windows Defender.

No history of any viruses, nothing in quarantine.

Even tried updating the wireless NIC driver.

Please help. I have no idea what else to try!

A:IE/Firefox pages not loading but can ping Yahoo

Rid your system of NIS -
Download the Norton Removal Tool (NRT); save to desktop. Then go to desktop, RIGHT-click on the NRT icon and select Run as Administrator. When complete - re-boot.

NRT - ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/englis...moval_Tool.exe

Reset the Windows Firewall to its default settings -
START | type FirewallSettings.exe into the start search box | click on FirewallSettings.exe above | select the Advanced Tab | click on "Restore Defaults" | Click Apply, OK

Use AVG for a/v if you wish - http://free.avg.com/download-avg-ant...s-free-edition

Firefox is my most used browser though, as of late, as the browser won't open my emails when clicked. But the browser does work with other web pages and links within them. Its only in Yahoo mail where this is happening. I must open IE Explorer to read my emails currently (but I don't want IE for browsing). Yahoo mail in Firefox will work initially upon entering the site then the trouble begins after a few successful clicks. This problem started about a month ago.
I like to blame it on Yahoo as I hate their update. Another problem I have with their 'improved' mail client email is when I create a link in an email message (by selecting the URL and clicking the Link icon) the entire message becomes the link. So I send URLs as plain text.   Why do I stay? Most all of my several hundred User ID's have the yahoo mail address as a login. What else to do??
Anyway, the freezing is what irks me at the moment.
By the way,  Yahoo Contact/Help is of no help even if they decided to answer my plea, instead choosing to send a pre-formed response.

I have been having some issues for the last couple of days with my computer.  I first experienced trouble with Firefox while watch a simple Twitch Stream.  For no reason (as the computer was completely idle save the stream) I received a message saying Shockwave Player (or some script on the page) stopped responding.  The popup gave me the option to wait for the script to respond, or to kill it.  I attempted to kill it, by opening up Task Manager.  This took maybe 3 minutes to open up, while in the process hung my entire system the whole time, and then led to Firefox itself to completely lock up.  As well, when attempting to open up Task Manager in the first place, if at first the window did not show up I would attempt to open it again.  The first time by using the Ctrl, Shift, Escape combination, and when that was unsuccessful (as it normally pops up instantly), I would thusly right click the taskbar to open it that way.  By doing this method it would take minutes for the popup from the taskbar itself to showup.  After finally getting Task Manager open, I would see two different Task Manager processes.  One at roughly 4k kilobytes of memory, while the other ~100.  As someone with a tiny bit of OCD I would close the smaller kilobyte one by right clicking it to kill the process from the popup menu.  Right clicking the process would give me no window, nor would hitting kill process from the tab on the Task... My problem is with the latest version of Yahoo Mail. I have recently upgraded to this version and initially messengers for Yahoo and Facebook opened there. But then these are not opening anymore. Whenever i click on the 'New Chat button, i get the message that "Yahoo Messenger is currently loading" or "Yahoo messenger is currently not available".

The biggest problem is that this new version does not allow one to go back to an earlier version. I have another yahoo account also where i luckily did not upgade to the new version. Here yahoo messenger easily opens in Yahoo Mail.

Any solutions?

Firefox has been freezing up on me, and when I close it down, I get a bluescreen error. It also happens a lot of the time when I close Firefox down normally. This was happening before I updated to the latest version of FF. I am running Windows XP, and have recently started using ZoneAlarm and Avast on my system.

Can you give us the error in full that you are getting. Also, I would check and make sure that ZoneAlarm and Avast are allowing FF to connect to the internet.

I don't know if my problem is Firefox or WordPress but I thought I'd try here first.
I use WordPress to publish articles and usually copy and paste from the finished article in the Articles forum to WordPress but since I reinstalled Win 7 this no longer works as paste is no longer an option when I right click in WordPress, or at least in the particular part that I need it to. I can, however, do it in Internet Explorer, but images aren't copied over, which they used to be. I've tried all the usual things like clearing the cache, but nothing has worked. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

A:Is this Win 7 or Firefox at fault? Moved from Mozilla/Firefox browsers

I am using Win-7 too but I haven't used IE. So my suggestion is to, try another browser for the same purpose and then see the effects (I feel firefox is well suited for the purpose). If you are getting same problems then, you are missing with some features of Win-7 otherwise, it is the website issue.

After a year of using My Yahoo as a home page, I suddenly find that whenever I click on a news story, I get a long list of primary and secondary navigation links and a search bar that I have to scroll through to reach the news story.

I would have thought this to be a Yahoo! problem, except it only occurs when I access my home page in FF. If I view it in IE, the problem doesn't exist.

Any ideas as to how to get rid of the extraneous data?

My firefox inexplicably stopped working properly recently. There are certain webpages that fail to load whatsoever (espn.com, for instance), and there are other webpages that load extremely slowly (somethingawful.com, for instance). Both of these websites work fine on IE.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled firefox but that didn't cure the situation. I have Symantec antivirus and it is always running. I don't usually download any sort of file that should put my computer in jeopardy, but I cannot figure out why it's running so poorly recently.

I hope I'm attaching all of the correct files:

Oh, also, file attachments don't work in Firefox or IE.

Dear BleepingComputer folk,
My laptop is running Firefox 40.0.3 under Windows 8.1 (64-bit).
The Problem
Two nights ago my browser (then Firefox 40.0.2) started opening some webpages extremely slowly, simply refusing to open others and producing a "This document has been moved here" message for others (see below screenshot - the link would appear to go to whatever I searched for, but I never clicked it).
These various problems were affecting familiar websites that I have bookmarked and regularly open, such as Facebook.  This seemed to be in some way related to the cache, as it was not affecting new URLs that I had not visited previously during that browsing session.

In addition, when using Google Toolbar (but not https://www.google.co.uk/ , which appeared fully functional) to search for anything I would receive the same: "This document has been moved here", but with an additional "302 Moved" message.
SCREENSHOT #2 - result of attempt to search for http://www.facebook.com/ via Google Toolbar:

Attempting to access attachments in gmail also produced a similar message (I don't have a screenshot of this, but I believe the message there again differed slightly, saying that the document was "temporarily" moved).  This is what I encoun... Read more

I am new here. I really hope to receive some assistance with this very annoying ordeal and learn how to prevent this in the future. I think I'm in the right place.

Just as with several others who have posted here, everytime I click a link in Yahoo/Google search results I am redirected to another site. I have been dealing with this for several weeks now. I at first thought that something was wrong with the search engines, but soon realized that it was my computer. I have ran scans using AVG and Ad-Aware, but nothing has helped.

I would greatly appreciate any assistance you all could provide. Enough is enough.

This might be an infection or just a system problem. If the latter, accept my apologies.

Recently Yahoo Messenger is throwing an unhandled exception to me just after connecting and listing my contacts. Yahoo IM seems functional, with exception of the error message on top. Accepting or debugging the error kills Yahoo IM. If the exception is open in my debugger (I have MS Visual Studio installed) the assembler code and stack are shown. The screenshots attached show the error message (regular unhandled exception msg box) and the contents of the stack, which is what called my interest. Code on top of stack is WS2_32.dll which apparently is the Windows Sockets API, a fairly critical system.

Any ideas will be appreciated. I am an IT professional and, altough not a systems expert, I can follow instructions.

Finally, I am absolutely not sure but I posted what seems to be a malware problem today [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic207182.html], they might be related. Certainly I started detecting both issues around the same time.

Thank you very much.

For a while now I have had an interesting problem that I cannot seem to figure out how to fix.

Just like you, I have many programs on my computer that periodically need to go out on the web to update etc. Well, the problem is that some programs simply will not connect to the web. It is as if I do not have a internet connection even though I do. This is a problem with the individual apps, namely WeatherBug. It will try to load but WeatherBug is displaying an error message regarding internet activity, please make sure you are online. Well I am online so I don't understand the problem. It has worked fine for ayears but I think after I installed Tuneup Utilities 2009 is when it went bad. But I have rolled back the changes TU 2009 made and it is still not working.

I also have many apps that have no problems whatsoever connecting to the net. I have all Windows Updates installed, no spyware issues and no viruses or Trojans, that I know of. My system is Windows XP Home, Celeron cpu with 504mb RAM on Cable. No router, No proxy, fire wall and antivirus (Comodo Internet Security) & windows firewall all disabled. Using FireFox 3.0.4. I also had the adblock extension for FireFox but it is now disabled.

This has me stumped. Any ideas? Also is there any mal ware I am missing?

Yesterday I downloaded this update sp26629.exe from this page http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/generic...item=pv-39118-1 and everything on my desktop changed so I thought I did something wrong. I did a restore in Safe Mode (tried several restores) and everytime my system rebooted, it get's as far as the Microsoft XP screen and before it gets to the welcome login screen, my system restarts. Can't roll back driver or troubleshoot in Safe Mode. I tried going to last known configuration and didn't help.Today I did a chkdsk and everything came out clean. But when the computer restarted and I hit F8 and chose Safe Mode, it started going into Safe Mode loading the partitions, etc. then suddenly stops. HP tried helping me by restarting and F1 for system utilities and loading default but nothing happened. I unplugged everything as they said to do a power drain and still nothing helps. So now because my computer stops while trying to load in Safe Mode, I can't even fix my first screw-up with the driver issue.I'm on a different computer now and I can't take my computer in to get fixed and I'm trying everything possible before doing a complete recovery, if that would even help.System: Microsoft Windows XP, Home Edition, Version 2002, SP3Display Adapter: ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 SeriesMore Info: HP Compaq Presario Desktop, AMD Athlon 64 Processor, 3500+ Any help is greatly appreciated. Hi, this started happening last night. I think it might have something to do with Firefox because when I open Firefox there's this new orange Firefox writing next to the address bar, I assume it's due to an update.

Basically anything that uses flash player freezes every 10 seconds or so until I move the mouse. It continues as normal until the next freeze and so on. Some sites don't load as well.

Few people have had success with turning off the hardware acceleration in Firefox but it doesn't work for me. Anyone know why this is happening and a way to fix it?

A:Pages stop loading until mouse is moved?

We have another user posted today with the same symptoms, maybe a Bug in the latest version of Firefox.

You are running the latest version?

These kind of issues are usually caused by faulty add ons.

Please visit this page; Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode

You may be able to save yourself some time by trying this first;

Note: The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Consider using it before going though a lengthy troubleshooting process.

I am running windows XP home edition SP 2, accessing internet via Road Runner. I upgraded Internet Explorer. It froze so I killed it and restarted again. It finished properly the second time, or so it seemed.

IE7 ran OK the first time. The 2ns time it froze on a blank window. No toolbars, no status bar, no nothing, just the frame and blank inside.

Other symptoms: Internet Options opens up OK from the control panel, and every tab seems OK, but when I go connections, LAN settings, the button shows depressed, and the thing freezes.

I can access the WWW without a problem via Firefox. Outlook sends and receives email without a hitch. But any program that checks internet options to see about proxy settings or similar, freezes. Example Intellicast and the Zinio reader. Example the setup program for Max Registry Cleaner and Registry Mechanic.

I ran a virus scan with AVG. The machine was clean. I cleaned up the registry with RegistryFix. There were a lot of lose ends, now it is clean. I ran AVG Anti Spyware. It has a residue of 45 tracking cookies, nothing else. I uninstalled Intellicast and the Zinio reader. Nothing made a difference.

A:Internet Explorer Freezes When Started & Firefox Freezes/crashes On Some Websites

Hello and welcome to BleepingComputer. One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan. You have a very severely infected system -- likely because of the lack of antivirus & firewall software. This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and download and execute files.I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.Though the trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Please read these for more information:How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud? When Should I Format, How Should I ReinstallWe can clean this machine but I cannot guarantee it will be 100% secure afterwards. I have had this problem since new. The only solution is to keep the yoga 3 on a desk or somewhere where it will not get moved. Needless to say all the features that are tablet and tent features are out of the question. When this happens only a power button reset will work, This will even occur when booting up if the computer is moved. I am certain is has something to do with the sensor that detects screen orientation. At this point, I am thinking poorly of Lenova as this problem along with some of the keyboard keys becoming hard to register are combining to make this product appear generally cheap/defective. I did read something about turning off the Intel Rapid Display SSD link if I quoted that right, which I did, but the problem still persists. BTW I have seen a few posts where a similar problem occurs but the mouse cursor still responds, but in my situation everything freezes, even the mouse cursor, zero response to anything.

A:Yoga 3 Freezes when moved

I think you may have a hardware problem, could be something related to HDD or the complete motherboard.
My advice would be to contact Lenovo Support and ask them for a repair. Please note that it is extremely important that you provide your problem details (freezing on moving laptop), othewise they wont be able to identify it.

About two weeks ago, my laptop just locked up in the middle of usage and when I tried to hard reboot it, it wouldnt even start up. The lights and fan would go on but nothing would load. I waited about 30 minutes and it would boot up normally but it froze after about an hour of use. The next day the laptop worked fine and this remained true for a week. After that, it froze and I couldnt get it to boot up for quite a while, and when I did, it would freeze immediately or within a few minutes. I thought the ram could've been bad so I swapped the ram and slot but it still froze. I recently discovered that when I do boot the laptop, it would freeze when I moved it slightly. Does anyone know what is wrong with my laptop? I dont want to have to replace it.

Thank you

I've had my laptop for a couple of years now and I'm not entirely sure when this problem began occuring, but whenever I move my laptop, it freezes. It doesn't matter what I'm doing - I can just be on my desktop homescreen but if I move my laptop a certain way, tilt it, change the angle of the screen, almost always it will freeze. Then I will have to press the power button just to put it to sleep, and then when I press it again it will usually be back to normal; sometimes I have to shut it off and restart it completely. I've tried installing different drivers and whatnot, but nothing seems to work. It's really annoying to always have to use my laptop at a desk. Sometimes, the screen will turn black and recover on its own and a message will pop up saying the display driver has stopped responding but has recovered. I'm also not a gamer and even if I'm watching videos, the laptop will be completely fine as long as it's on a flat surface. But, again, it will freeze once I move it.  Has anyone experienced this before?  Please give me whatever help or tips you can, as I'm willing to try pretty much anything to fix this.

For the last few weeks, my computer has been acting up by slowly turning white randomly. I soon found that when it started to turn white, I could move the hinge or shake the computer gently, and it would start working again. Now, I can't move my computer and mess with the hinge, or else it will freeze, but will unfreeze when I move it again. For example, it did it three times while just typing this.
What's causing this and how do I stop it?

Hope someone can help with this. Have a two year old laptop that has started to freeze if it is moved. Works fine when stationary but if its moved slightly in any direction it just freezes and have to turn off and reboot. It does it whether battery fitted or not and even with a USB mouse attached.  Has never been worked hard or badly treated. I have run its diagnostics and it reports everything OK.  Think it may be something to do with accelerometer if it has one.  Not the most computer techy type so just basic advice please.

I believe I have the same problem that it seems a lot of people on this forum have and that is when I do google searches every 10-15th time i click a link i get redirected to an ad page. Also I run a website and my site loads noticeably slower on my computer than my brothers even though we are on the same network, I am hoping that the redirect problem is causing this as well. I apologize for being a computer noob and not simply following the instructions in the other threads of users having my same problem. I have tried running countless anti-virus problems but so far nothing has worked. Your help is greatly appreciated as I don't want to reformat my computer.

Thanks for your help

As no logs have been posted, I am shifting this topic from the specialized HiJack This forum to the Am I Infected forum.PLEASE DO NOT NOW POST LOGS unless a log is specifically requested.I apologize for being a computer noob and not simply following the instructions in the other threads of users having my same problem. No need to apologize. And in fact in the case of malware removal, you shouldn't follow the instructions posted for another anymore than a person should follow the medical regime designed for someone else. Please tell us what your operating system is: Windows XP, Vista, etc.i get redirected to an ad page. Please describe this ad page and be as specific as possible, but please do not post live links.Orange Blossom
