I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I have win 2000 and ms word/works 2000 v6. Last week I was trying to work while sick and I think I messed up the normal.dot file...not sure though. When I try and open word or works the computer locks up and tells me I have a corrupt startup file. I have tried uninstall and reinstall also in safemode. During this, a window says that word is running and I have to shut it off to proceed, which it won't let me do. I've been to the task manager and works or word does not show. Even tried stopping word under the processes of task manager, no good. If I start the computer and do not open works or word and try to install or uninstall, the program locks up half way through.

I can access the works and word files via another computer on the intranet. All other parts of computer run fine. When shutting down the entire computer in this state, an end now window appears with an DDE error. I have tried a scan disk when running and at start up, nothing there. Also did spybot scan and had Norton scan for security & virus, nothing there either.

What have I done?

Probably rtight regarding normal.dot.

You need to find and delete all occurrences of it.

Reloading Word will not fix it, the file is created by Word not installed with it and survives in corrupted form.

Enable the viewing of hidden and system files. Do not have Word running. Search for and find all occurrences of Normal.dot, there will be at least one. Delete them.

A new clean copy will be created when Word next runs.

I recently installed Windows XP (in place of ME) and Word 2003 (along with Office 2003 Student and Teacher Edition). When I open Word I get the little rectangle in the middle of the desktop and it just hangs there. If I delete the normal.dot file it opens Word fine or if I do the "Start/Run WinWord.exe /A" it opens fine. When I exit out the normal.dot template gets created again but when I try to start Word again it locks up. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling, using the repair option, saving a file as a template and renaming it normal.dot, making it read only....Bill Gates hasn't helped me. Can you guys? How come I can't download a clean normal.dot? I did download a template from MicroSoft and renamed it but I still locked up.
Dude

A:MS Word 2003 locks up

First read about normal.dot. You'll find you don't NEED to download a good one.
http://www.officearticles.com/word/about_normal_dot_in_microsoft_word.htm

But I think you may need to do Step 2 of Word Troubleshooting here:
http://www.officearticles.com/word/steps_to_troubleshooting_microsoft_word.htm

And if that doesn't work, you may just need a good cleanup:

Hope it helps.

Many times when I start software, it locks up my computer. Specifically, I cannot get MS Word to open most of the time without locking up my computer. The only time it will not lock up (but this is intermittent) is when I try to open it from the Start/Programs menu. If I copy that to the desktop and try to start Word, it locks up my computer.

I have eliminated several things from start up to get my system resources (Windows 98) from 44% to about 88%. I ran Spybot S&D and it very quickly said that nothing was found. My friend said it shouldn't run that quickly.

I also have no sound; not sure if you can help me with that too but what is more important is that I can't very successfully use my computer since it so frequently locks up.

A:MS Word Locks Up Computer

Usually problems opening Word is a corrupt template. Run a search for file or files named:
Normal.dot and delete any you find. This is a Word template and Word will create a new one when you start it.

When I try to open Word 97 (was installed as part of Office 97 Pro on Windows 98) it will get as far as to the document by locks up the system at that point. So I can see the program with a blank page but thats it. Have to use the reset button to restart the system. However it works fine in safe mode.

I have deleted the normal.dot file, reinstalled (could not uninstall) and updated video drivers - no change.

Office 2000 was installed at one point - no longer is.

I remember a fairly indepth write-up at Microsofts site but haven't been able to find.

Any tips greatly appreciated, although I won't be able to try them til tomorrow.

Thanks.

I am using Office XP under Win XP Pro with a 2.8GHz P4 and 512MB RAM. I have Word set as my editor.
One of my contacts sends me fancy e-mails with embedded wallpaper and graphics for comment. When I click on either Reply or Forward, the hourglass appears and remains for 20 minutes before it is possible to even start to type a reply. (During this time, there is minimal processor activity but I can do nothing else.) The same thing happens with e-mails received from Yahoo Groups but other html e-mails with simple graphics behave normally.
If I revert to the default Outlook editor, the response is immediate. When I copy/paste the e-mail content into Word, the same thing happens so it seems that Word simply cannot handle the graphic content whereas the Outlook editor does. Unfortunately, the Outlook editor lacks certain features that I need, such as highlighting words.
This is a new situation because, until recently, I could reply to or forward all e-mails and I have always had Word as my Outlook editor.
I have tried Detect & Repair and I have deleted Normal.dot. I have also tried completely uninstalling the Avast AV package and that makes no difference. There are no Word add-ins or macros. What's more, I have tried starting Word with the /a switch and then pasting the e-mail content. That takes about 10 secs to load but it does not display the graphics correctly.
Can anyone tell me if this is an insurmountable barrier in Word or is there a workaround?

IN my first class i edited it on Word 2007 and in the class i could print it they had Word 2003 and i couldnt open my file and now i cant even open it in word perfect. I doubt i can use the laptops for a while anyway i can open this on wordperfect

A:Solved: Word Perfect- Word 2003 - word 2007

If you saved the file in the "new" Word 2007 format (with a file extension of .docx) then you will be unable to open it in the other applications.

For Word 2003 you can install a converter, but I know of no XLM converter for WordPerfect.

When using Word 2007 you need to "save as" Word 97-2003 format to retain backwards compatibility.

Hey

I've been posted on the forums like 2 weeks ago, and I thought I've found the solution for my problem, but I had to realize I don't.

System specs:
Intel QuadCore 2 Quad Q8300, 2.5GHz (7.5 x 333)
MSI P43T-C51 (MS-7519)
1xKingmax DDR2 @1066 (another stick is still under warranty change)
nVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 (512MB)
Chieftec CTG-400-80PB 400W

I'm currently using a clean installed Windows 7 Enterprise.

Checklist:
memtest: I was running 2 hours long, no errors
GPU stress test: OCCT for 1 hour / FurBar for 2 hours - with the exact same options as I'm usually playing games - no errors, no lockups
CPU stress test: Everest for 1 hour - no errors, no lockups
BIOS reflashed
updated nVIDIA, Realtek, chipset drivers
It's a newly built PC, I've checked everything at least 2x, 3x. Took out memory(ies) and video card, and seated them again. Also I've checked cables, everything is in place.
What bugs me is Eventviewer and the pic I've attached.
Every time the system locks up I find the same errors in Eventviewer:
-Critical: Event ID: 41, Source: KernelPower The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
-Error: Event ID: 1101, Source: Eventlog Audit events have been dropped by the transport. 0

I had a computer built for me at a local store. The day I took it home though I was getting constant BSOD. This was back in November. I did what I could, checking the event log, ran the memtest that is built into Windows and came back with nothing. I took it back to the boys at the store and they kept it for a week. They said they the Hulu Desktop I had installed was the problem. So they uninstalled it and said it was fixed. (I'm assuming during the diagnostics they checked the GPU, PSU and all the other components too). I booted it back up at home and the problems started up again. So I reinstalled Windows, made sure I had all the latest drivers and was extremely careful about which folders I installed the different programs in. I also have checked the connections inside. Things seemed to be fixed, but then they started up again. I was getting the BSOD less often, but a new symptom emerged, the computer would completely freeze up, even the audio froze and would play the last second of whatever was on at the time (scares the bejeezus out of you too). It seems to be happening when I'm streaming video or listening to music I have on the HD, but it's also happened once while playing a game. I'm at a loss. I can't really take this back to the store and have them check it over because I need this computer for school. This one is pretty straight forward. Your video driver. specifically the directx component of it. I would go to their site. Get the un-install tool. to scrape all traces of this current driver off, and re-install a fresh copy. If this is happening frequently, I would also run
a system file check (type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow
Also download memtestx86 and run for at least 5 passes to validate your ram.

If you are overclocking stop
If you are running a raid, update its driver.

Let us know if you need help with any of this

I'm a recovering former IT professional, and I really am not enjoying my "Vista Experience." My expertise is in hardware and older software. I've been troubleshooting this issue for a while, and will detail below.

I'm running an HP DV6436NR laptop:

AMD Turion64 X2 TL-56
2gb DDR2
NVIDIA GeForce GO 6150
160gb Seagate 2.5" SATA hdd ST916082
Broadcom 10/100 802.11b/g Wireless LAN
External Sound Blaster 24 bit USB Audio
300gb External USB hdd
Running Vista Home Premium ver 6.0.6000
BIOS Version F.3D

Consistently, though intermittently (if that makes sense: daily, but not every boot), I receive an IRQ_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL_TO BSOD. I'd love to share my memory dump, but the machine locks up before it actually dumps the memory. Verified by checking dump file location. Can restart into safe mode with no problem.

Have run memory checks and HDD surface scan (I thought I had a bad drive head for awhile, as I had been finding bad sectors left and right, but that issue was resolved months ago). Tried the useless "Windows Vista Repair" feature. No luck. Usually if I just restart the dang thing enough, it will boot.

No, I have not added any new hardware or software that triggered the problem. Motherboard is less than 3 months old, as I had to replace it due to the inherent issues with the HP DV series AMD-based laptops. I have tried resetting BIOS to default settings, I have tried unhooking all external peripheral devices. No luck. ... Read more

Hi. . .

Before getting into the reason the system locks up prior to producing producing memory dumps, you need to update your system with Vista SP1.

Is there any particular reason that you don't have SP1 installed? Are you having problems w/ Windows Updates?

Hello,

I built my computer in November of last year and for some reason it locks up while playing intense games such as Star Wars Battlefront and Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor. The odd thing is, it never locked up while playing Fallout 4.

I have run memory tests including the windows built in memory checker and mem86+, both came out clean and without errors. I had tested for errors in my hard drive, both of them (an SSD and HDD) have came up without errors. My system is not overclocked in any way and has efficient cooling.

Crashes only happen about 1-2 hours into gaming and result in my having to restart my computer by holding down the power button. One time i got the blue screen CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT and was so frustrated that I refreshed windows and only installed essential programs/games. I have a suspicion that it may be my audio driver because there is not an official release for windows 10 for the Plantronics Gamescom 780, but i'm not quite sure.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey all, I have been trying to troubleshoot an issue I am complete stumped. I have a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit HTPC that I use daily for media (living in China it is rough to get US TV). For the past few days it has been randomly rebooting after about 45-60 minutes. After reboot it gives a blue screen and an inaccessible boot device error. I shut down the PC complete, turn back on, and it boots up fine. After about an hour, it happens again. Not sure if it is a hardware or software issue, I just find it strange that it happens every time after a certain number of minutes, then I reboot and the problem goes away.

I have ran CHKDSK with both options, it found no errors on my system drive. I also ran a Windows repair from my install CD, the issue still occurs. Not sure if maybe it is a hardware issue, just think it is strange that it happens in that ~50 minute window every time.

Attached is the tool results, would appreciate any help you can give.

A:BSOD - Computer locks up and reboots every 45-60 minutes

After another lockup instead of shutting down I did a soft reboot. After reboot I get the error:

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer
2. Choose you language settings, and then click "Next."
3. Click "Repair your computer"

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

After a hard reboot it works fine again.

I recently installed several new components in my pc including a new mobo, ram, and an hdd. The system's memory was tested, the bios have been updated, and the display drivers have been wiped and updated. Nevertheless, I've received the following error messages:

0x0000007E
0x0000003B
as well as several others which i failed to write down

More recently my comp hasn't been going to blue screens. it simply locks up, or the screen scrambles and it restarts.

System info:
os: win7 professional
cpu: amd phenom II x4 955, 3200mhz, quad core
mobo: asustek m5a97
bios: american megatrends inc. 3/12/12

gpu:ati 4890

Thanks in advance

AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems.

Quote:
Please uninstall all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program
Then, download and install a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD (in the upper right corner of the page)
- Select the "Custom" installation option and don't let it install AMD OverDrive or the VISION Engine Control Center (if present)
Then use the ATI uninstall manager to uninstall the Catalyst Control Center (CCC). This is a separate issue and isn't required for the AMD OverDrive removal.

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem in perfmon /report, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Uninstall". Reboot for changes to take affect.

Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's. If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.

If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclo... Read more

Hi
I'm not sure this is the right section of the forum to post, but I'm hoping someone can help me with a strange issue I'm having with windows 10.
Every 2/3 days the system will lock up with no output to the monitor. This also causes my router to stop serving an internet connection to all devices.
A hard reset of the windows 10 PC brings it back and the router continues serving an internet connection again (no restart of the router required).
There is nothing in the windows event logs indicating anything unexpected happening before the lock-up. (Only "The previous system shutdown at 10:21:47 on ‎04/‎01/‎2016 was unexpected" upon restart).
This has started happening after upgrading from windows 7. The system was fine for well over 2 years with Windows 7. I tried a fresh installation of Win10 hoping this would solve it, but the issue has reoccurred.
Has anyone seen anything like this before? Taking down the router sounds like its a network related issue perhaps.
Thanks for help :-)

Hello everyone.

I'm at my wit's end here with a computer I assembled around Christmas time last year that has had a large amount of BSODs, crashes, freezes, reboots without BSODs and the like. Though I have apparently managed to fend off a lot of the issues (including IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, and CLOCK_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION), this particular KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED bsod persists.

I've attached the SF Diagnostic Tool dump as instructed.
I took many steps to fix these crashes before I came to the forum, listed below:
Uninstalled Daemon Tools and its driver.Disabled the Nvidia Streaming Service which was apparently known to cause BSODs.Uninstalled ASUS GPU-Tweak and its driver, also known to cause BSODs (same driver as SmartDoctor)Uninstalled my ASUS GX950's mouse driver and reinstalled the latest driver stated to support windows 8.Ran driver verifier which caught the Nvidia Streaming Service above, also Virtual Audio Cable's driver (now removed)Ran sfc /scannow in elevated command prompt without issue.Ran dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth which apparently caught something, restarted.Ran memtest86 for 5 passes on both RAM sticks, no errors.Ran CHKDSK both from the hdd's properties menu and via elevated command prompt + restart. No errors.

EDIT:
Some additional info:
Hard locks/reboots without bsods occur most frequently when using a web browser. Current browser is Google Chrome, tested with both Firefox and IE with the same results. Of course this makes it hard t... Read more

I have an eMachine T3508. Intel Celeron D CPU. 3.33GHZ. 1.37GB Ram. Running Windows XP SP2.

For months it has become increasingly bogged down - running slower and slower. Then, it started locking up. Each time, I had no choice but to power down with power button. This weekend, I updated to SP3 using the windows update manager. The next day, I got the Blue Screen of Death with the following error:

STOP: 0x0000007e

I tried numerous fixes, but eventually ran chkdsk and the computer booted up (although VERY slow).

So, I am back in.

I have run my AVG, Spybot, and Adaware. Nothing was found.

I would welcome any help and/or advice. Here is my log:

When using Firefox, at random times, my computer at times will lock up on and of and just go slow. Other times it will just freeze and I have to reboot.

Sometimes when I reboot from this I get a BSOD and it asks for the startup repair disk. Sometimes it does not do this. Sunday I believe I got a BSOD after the computer froze on Firefox.

These issues do not happen when using IE.

I have uninstalled add ons and plugins on Firefox, same thing.
I have done the mem test, no problems.
I have done an SFC scan multiple times, no problems.
I have done chkdsk multiple times, no problems.

Also scanned with Malware Bytes, and it gets rid of any detections and it still does it.

Sometimes I think it might be my graphics card. I'm not totally sure. I come to you all for help! Thank you in advance!

Cpuz136_x64.sys is causing a BSOD in the first couple of minutes after start. I found the file in the temp folder but can't delete it as some service is locking it. If I use Unlocker to delete it on next start it is gone for a few seconds then shows up again, still undeleteable. How can I tell what service keeps it there?
In the event log I found that it was installed on 2015-07-29 (Win 10 upgrade?):

Service Name: cpuz136
Service File Name: d:\Temp\\cpuz136\cpuz136_x64.sys
Service Type: kernel mode driver
Service Start Type: demand start
Service Account:

However services.msc does not show any service called "cpuz136".

Do you have speccy installed? That is usually the culprit with that file.

Hey all.

Let me split my post up in a few sections.

First of all what is the actual problem:
About 2 weeks ago, after running smoothly for over a year, my computer started behaving a bit strangely.
The only change I made to my system in the last days prior to that was a windows update, but suddenly my PC started to freeze up completely.

The individual freezes start off with windows becoming unresponsive, and eventually everything freezes up. Sometimes when I'm watching say a Youtube video, the video keeps playing while the Windows and other programs have already frozen up.
These freezes most of the time result in me either having to hard reset my PC (turn off the power completely, or trigger the reboot switch), or a BSOD.

What errors have I been getting:
The BSOD I talked about generally presents the following error:
STOP 0x000000F4 (0x0000000000000003; 0xFFFFFA8017574060; 0xFFFFFA8017574340; 0xFFFFF80002388D50)

Lately a few other errors have also shown up like:
0x0000007A (Kernal Data Inpage Error)
error with ntfs.sys

Apparently no physical dump of these error can be created (error 0xC0000010), so I'm also not sure if any of those BSOD errors are registered in the windows logs.

The weirdest thing is that these crashes occur EXACTLY every hour. I included a screenshot where you can see this.
Also this crash can be circumvented by putting my computer in the sleep mode. (The most workable way to use my PC right now is to put an alarm every 55 minutes and sleep my PC when... Read more

A:Computer locks up every hour, followed by BSOD error 0x000000F4

Welcome to SevenForums.

STOP 0x000000F4 & STOP 0x0000007A have one thing in common.

Code:
STOP 0x0000007A: KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR
Usual causes: Memory, Paging file corruption, File system, Hard drive, Cabling, Virus infection, Improperly seated cards, BIOS, Bad motherboard, Missing Service Pack
They're related to Hard drive/Storage.

I see that you have a SSD:

Code:
Model M4-CT128M4SSD2
Is the firmware up-to-date? Check for one.

Your BSOD-s seem to be caused by Asus Charger Driver and its Likely a BSOD cause

Hello

I am at wits end with this system. I have been trying to get this thing stable for a dogs age.
This is what I have done in the past 6 months.
I have reinstalled the OS a couple times, even Zorin OS on a stand alone clean drive.
I have run Memtest86+ found 1 bad set of RAM (RMA'd)
Reinstalled the OS as bad Ram was in machine at the time of the reinstall.
I have also swapped the vid ASUS 7970 OC and sound cards.
Power Supply seems to be OK, a CoolerMaster 850w modular
CPU has an Antec Kuhler 920 liquid cooling on it.

I had it kind of stable for about week after running AMD driver remover and reinstalling the driver.
Then it started acting up again.
Went to AMD and found the AMD program at nukes all traces of amd/ati drivers off the system. Ran that, installed ONLY the latest vid driver, still crashing.

CPU liquid temp according to the program sits anywhere from 38-42 C depending on the ambient temp on silent, ramped up full blown gaming it might get to 48 C

I have never had an issue vex me for so long.
A fresh set of eyes would be appreciated.
Attached it the SF Diag results.

Thanks!

A:BSOD, Hard Locks, Kernal Power Event ID 41

How old is that Cooler Master PSU? One year? Two? Any more than that and (in my experience) I'd be looking hard at it. Whenever I have had Kernel Power Event 41's, it's been either a PSU issue (solved by replacement) or wall socket power issues.

Everything just freezes, I hear some buzzing coming from the speakers, I can't bring up Task Manager or anything and I have to hard restart. The event logs don't show anything besides that I shut down my computer incorrectly with the hard restart.
The freeze usually occurs once a week, but I've done some testing and changing the Number of Processors from 4 to 3 prevented the freeze from occuring for 2 weeks. Maybe this relates to it?
I was thinking of maybe replacing my PSU, since this is a year old prebuilt computer given to me by my uncle and the PSU is still this.

Issue - computer locks up with only the mouse working every 40-45 minutes. I have to do a cold reboot to get the system up again. If I run the computer for 20 minutes and then shut down, let it sit, then start up again, it will crash in 20. Seems time dependent rather than heat or activity based. The issue occurs when browsing the internet, watching video, playing games, or just being in screensaver. No blue screen error. No information in the event logs. Has been happening for a month. No big changes to the system before it started.

Running Windows 10. i7-2600K CPU. 16GB Ram. OS on 200GB SSD. Secondary hard drive is conventional WD 1TB. Nvidia GTX 970. Computer is about 4-5 years old.

When the crash happens, nothing is written to the event log or to the memdump file of use. It just lists that the computer has been restarted with a cold boot.

I ran memtest86 - no issues. Also ran HD Tune Pro - no issue found with the SSD. It says read failure/1 unstable sector for the secondary drive. The Western Digital tool finds 1 bad sector on the secondary drive, but SMART status is PASS. Quick Test fails - failed read test element. Windows ChkDsk cannot see the issue with the secondary drive.

Updated drivers for video card and sound card. Motherboard bios are up to date.

Unplugging the secondary hard drive does not fix the issue. All fans are working.

Yesterday I did a Windows 10 reset. The problem is still happening.

Hi smith1169

Your log looks clean.

Have you tried using another browser like Firefox?

http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

You can use that as a test - see if that causes a lock up too.

First, let me start by saying I am not an IT computer person, I have very basic knowledge (other than what I do for a living) about computers, and I really need instructions that are easy to follow, please?

I am a medical transcriptionist. I have hundreds of auto corrects on my current computer with Windows XP Word 2002 on it. I am needing to, if possible, copy the auto corrects from Word 2002 to another computer with Windows XP Word 2003.

I also have hundred of words that I have added to spell check that it would be great if I could copy those as well.

I do have a flash drive that I can save these to.

Can someone please help me in terminology and steps that a computer dummy can understand?

Thanking you in advance.

Hi all, do you know if it is possible to word-wrap text around an inserted picture in Word 2003? Basically, I'm trying to create a class reunion program with a one-page bio of a person with his/her picture in the upper right-hand corner. I have pasted a picture and positioned it where I want at the top; however, it forces the text below it downwards, which is not what I want. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

A:Solved: Word 2003 - Insert Picture/Word Wrap Question

Select the picture

Make sure the mouse pointer is hovering over the picture and click once with the right mouse button

Click once with the left mouse button on the menu choice "Format Picture"

Select the "Layout" tab

In the section called "Wrapping Style" click once with the left mouse button on "Square"

Beneath where it says Horizontal alignment click once with the left mouse button on "Right"

Click on OK

You should be able to type text to the left of the picture.

The computer keeps on locking up.I tried ctrl alt del and nothing happened. I tried clicking the mouse. Nothing.

I haven't made any major changes at all. No huge programs.

I turned off the computer, and tried safe mode. There is no antivirus (besides Windows Defender) so I tried to install Avira but since it's safe mode Windows Installer service doesn't work.

I turned off the computer, put in an Linux live usb and I'm scanned the computer via Comodo. Nothing found.

I'm kinda freaking out because when my dad comes home in a few hours he's gonna be pissed.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Thank you.

What you want is to turn on "Toggle Keys" in the control panel

Start->Control Panel->Ease of Access Center

Select the option "Make The Keyboard easier to use"

Under there, there should be a section called "Make it easier to type"

Check "Turn on Toggle Keys". That should make a sound any time you tap capslock

Whenever I go to a certain website, IE7 either takes forever to load or locks up completely causing me to Ctrl-atl-del and close it. Seems to be only on this computer and only on the Costco website!! Wierd. As info, this started only after I had (or at least Dell XPS tech sprt to me I had) to set PC back to "out of the box" due to inability of PC to connect to internet at all. Everything else seems to be working fine. Running Vista, Dell XPS 420, linksys w/l router, dsl modem.

Puzzling as it is only this one website--at least so far.

Any clues?

UPDATE

It IS doing the exact same thing on a laptop also running IE7 on Vista. I hooked up an old PC using IE7 with XP and everything works fine.

So....it appears to me that there is some sort of conflict between IE7 on Vista machines and the Costco website. I called costco.com support and they were very helpful, acknowledged that they were having a problem and took information from me regarding my set up.

I need to find out if there is a way to copy all the macros I wrote and use in Word 2002 to Word 2007. I have both versions installed at the moment.

Also, is there a way to transfer settings such as all my auto correct, etc (although this is less important)

Barbara

A:Solved: How can I copy macros from Word 2002 to Word 2007?

Open the document(s) in question and press ALT + F11 to bring up your Visual Basic editor. On the left hand side of the VB editor is your project explorer window. In the project explorer window you will see a folder called "Modules" that you can open to show all the modules attached to the document. These modules is where you VBA code is stored. You can right click each module and selection the option to export to the location of your choice. Once exported you can copy or save them to another machine and then re-import them by openining the VB editor on the other compuer and choosing FILE >> IMPORT.

I want to email a Word 2003 document(as an attachment) that has two hyperlinks to two different word documents files. I have tried this and everything works fine except when I ctrl + click on the hyperlinks the files won't open. How can I get this concept to work. I don't want to send a lot of files and attachments for the recipient to have to deal with.

I have installed MS Office Home and Student 2007 on my Dell Inspiron 1720 running Vista Home Premium. Previously I used MS Works that came pre-installed any e-mail with a Word attachment just opened when I clicked it.
Now when I get e-mails with any Word attachments I am unable to open the attachments without first saving them to the desk top, then opening Word 2007, then opening the document from the Word 2007 menu.
Similarly with all my old documents I have to go through the same long winded procedure to open them
Is there a simple way to cure this??. I'm not a tech whizz but if the cure is simple I can give it a go
