At Startup Error: Mom.exe - .net Framework Initialization Error

Q: At Startup Error: Mom.exe - .net Framework Initialization Error

When i startup my computer an error appears

(Name Of Box)MOM.EXE - .NET Framework Initialization Error
(Red circle with X) Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application.
[ OK ] Button

The picture on the task bar is the ATI logo and says ATI. I looked up MOM.exe and knew it has something to do with ATI, i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling my ATI drivers, didnt fix the problem.

I was having a problem before where I had a similar error at startup. The name of the box was MOM.EXE, and it said it couldnt run the problem if i remember right.

Im both cases i can click the OK button and the error doesnt come up again until i restart my computer.

I am using Windows XP Home.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Preferred Solution: At Startup Error: Mom.exe - .net Framework Initialization Error

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: At Startup Error: Mom.exe - .net Framework Initialization Error

This error may be a result of the .NET Framework either not being installed or the installation is corrupt. Go Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and make sure the Show Updates box at the top is checked. Then search for an entry called:Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0If it is there remove it (don't worry if it is not there). Then go to this site and download a fresh copy of it. Install it, reboot and then see if your problem has been solved.

I have the task of resolving a .NET Framework issue on a friends HP laptop running Windows XP. It seems that whenever the system starts up, an error message is displayed as follows:

hpqthb08.exe - .NET Framework initialization error. To run this application you first must install one of the following versions of the .NET Framework: v1.1.4322

I have tried to run MS updates and they fail due to this issue and when I try to remove it from the laptop I get a query for a missing file: s867460.msp. I've tried to remove it in order to re-install it thinking that the file hpqthb08.exe is somehow corrupted. However all de-installation attempts fail seeking the location of this s867460.msp file. I cannot locate a download for this file and at the moment have no idea where to turn.

Any ideas?

I want to begin by saying how stupid i am.
My computer was starting to get slow, and i did a power clean in it.
The thing is, i think i cleaned way too much.

Now some links are not working, for instance if i press properties in Computer, in start, it won't do anything. But if i search for system, it will open the same window.

Also, advanced system care is all crazy. The links there also won't work.
I have attached an image as an example. Aside from that, when i start it an error screen shows up, and asks if i want to continue, restart or abort.

I thought those were all DirectX problems, because i uninstalled it and i was going to install a new one. When i finished downloading the SDK, however, an error screen telling me to:
"Set the registry key HKLM/Software/Microsoft/.NETFramework/installroot to the .NET install location "

Also, if i press next, another error screen shows up saying errors were encountered during the installation of .NET Framework 2.0 . Error Code: S1023

First, i re-installed .NET Framework, nothing was fixed, and then i double checked the install root thingy, and everything was okay.
Also, i don't have any system restores or any kind of thing to recover from. Its really driving me crazy, i didn't even get to update the drivers.

Yesterday I used my OS disk to repair my computer. I am running XP Media Center Edition. Today when I turned on my computer I got two error messages:

I cannot reinstall my TurboTax either. Is this something I can correct myself or did I really screw things up and need to go to a pro now?

Welcome to TSG, Kyra3812

I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling Microsoft.net framework.

Start > Control Panel > Add/remove programs. Go through and uninstall all previous Microsoft.net listings, then download and reinstall it.

The newest version can be found Here

FYI - It's against the rules to post multiple times about the same issue.

I did a system restore to 4 days before, and I can now isolate the issue. After the restore, I tried opening chrome, but it BSOD'd on me. I got suspicious, so I tried opening firefox, and it opened with no issue. Spotify also works.

So, from what I know now:

I updated Chrome on Nov. 7.
On Nov. 8, I started receiving a .net Framework error.
Following the error, I thought of updating the .net Framework to version 4.5, which did not help.
I then did a system restore back to Nov. 6
I am no longer receiving the .net Framework error.
I tried opening chrome - BSOD immediately.
Firefox and Spotify worked correctly, no other errors.
SO, now that I know the issue is with chrome, how do I go about fixing this? I prefer chrome as my primary browser, so I would like to have it fixed if possible.

History: My previous post, "XP BIG mess after intallling new hp Officejet J4580 All-in-One, and SP3. I won't repeat all the problems I was having, but it all culminated in my running "System Recovery". [System Restore had failed to work on ot least 6 different previous "Recovery points"]

So after running the System Recovery and 2 long days of reading every Thread on this site, and Googleing etc, I finally have the ability (once again) to browse the Web and can send and receive emails.

However, in atttempting, again, to install my Officejet printer, I encounterd an error message, to wit "Fatal error 2753 along with the message "MSI.dot4wrp".

In addition to that problem, every time I boot up, I get the error message,
"hpgthb08 - .NET Framework Initialization Error" and a dialog box containing
"Please set HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETFramework\InstallRoot to point to .NET Framework install location". Where do I find this HKLM whatchamacallit, and how do I make it POINT to anything? If I was smart enough to do that, I'm wondering, if it might also fix my Fatal error on my installation attempt.

I'm about at my wit's end, here - my wife is complaining about the time I'm spending on this mess and I'm not sure if I'm any closer to a solution now than I was last Monday.
Thanks to all,

Hey guys, I hope someone can help me with this error I get on every startup. It started to happen when I installed the Blue Soleil driver for my Bluetooth dongle.

Everytime I would try to use bluetooth within my mobile to computer software (Samsung PC Studio) I would get a blue screen of death. I can't remember that particular error though. But anyway, I uninstalled Blue Soleil and haven't had the blue screen since.

However, on startup, I get this error everytime. I hope someone can make some sense of it and help me on my way to getting rid of it!

I've attached the file (hopefully lol) of the error I get. I've tried to restore but for some reason my computer just won't restore, it gets to the restarting bit, but no further, so I have to turn it off and then I get "restore has failed" on start up again.

I have to install an application for a job and when I run it, .NET Framework 3.0 is installed first , but it fails giving a 1603 error.

I tried changing the Permissions from this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\Security\ServiceModel to allow Everyone.

I made sure no firewall or other registry program was running.

I also downloaded an application called Error Fixer, or MS-Fixer or something like that, which I read about on these fora, but that didn't work either. It only prompted me to buy if I wanted it to do something.

I also tried to open the exe file using 7-Zip, so I could manually install .NET Framework 3.5 (already installed) and the actual program I want. But that didn't work either.

I don't know what else to do, since the problem is the version of Framework that comes with my application.

Any help? I have Vista Home Edition 32.

I have a failed HDD.
In the past I have usually been able to help myself to at least retrieve any data from the HDD.
But this time the problem seems to be different. If it has any bearing, this is the first time since upgrading to Windows 7 and operating for I can't remember how long, since without any issues.
As I always have in the past, this HDD is formatted with a separate partitions (1) for the OS and program files, and (2) for my data. This has usually this been enough to retrieve my data by installing the drive in a second Thinkpad using a second HDD adapter and retrieving the data. These days I also keep most of my data on a NAS but I do have some folders on a D:\ or Data drive which I would like to retrieve.

This time however I cannot even 'see' the drive at all. Not when I try to boot from it, or as a second HDD using an adapter. It is not even visible under Disk Management in case it needed to be initialized (again?) So this time, I seem stuck, unable to help myself:

In the first instance, I get the Error 2100: HDD0 (Hard Disk Drive) initialization error (2) when booting from the drive.
When I press ESC to continue, the computer tries to initialize the HDD or something, and from memory, I think displays an 'unable to boot from any device' screen and shows the status for the devices without any operating systems.

When I try the same with the affected HDD but this time with an installation disc inserted, I do not see the 'Press any key to boot from CD or DV... Read more

Hi there,my name is Marius and I will assist you with your malware related problems. Before we move on, please read the following points carefully. First, read my instructions completely. Today when I went to turn on my Samsung laptop (with Windows 7), I got a ""Logon Process Initialization Failure" error message. I didn't even get to the screen which asks for my password to access the computer's functions. I tried to reboot into safe mode, but I got the same thing again. I can't open any program or even get to my desktop screen.

I found a Microsoft hotfix that appears to be for this problem, and although I saved the .exe file to my thumb drive from my desktop computer, I'm at a loss as to how to install it on my laptop when it won't operate correctly to download and run it!

(The Microsoft link that seems to address my issue is here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2615701).

The only thing that may have changed is that my old power cord to the laptop was frayed, and I ordered a new one off eBay. It's not a Samsung cord, but a replacement cord. My laptop worked fine with it for an entire day, then the following day is when this happened. I don't know if it's related to the problem or not. I sure hope I can resolve this problem; my laptop is nothing more than a five pound paperweight at this point.

I'm not quite sure if the errors are part of the same problem or two separate things.
I started getting the Bad Image error about a month or two ago. It started for me when I tried to run Sims 3. I thought nothing much of it, other than perhaps sims just not working for me (as it does that sometimes).
The next program that I got the error for was puu.sh, a screen printing program I installed quite a while ago. Never had problems with it prior to the this. (I've since then uninstalled puush and began using another program for screen capturing)
Currently I am getting the bad image error upon start up for the driver that allows my Wacom tablet to run.
I'd be greatly happy if someone could help be resolve this issue, as I am afraid doing so on my own will cause even more trouble.
Thanks in advance!

From the thread: CSM means Compatibility Support Mode. Q Code 79 could mean (just guessing) that you have connected some device, that UEFI cannot cope with. Besides, when having 4 Memory Modules you should allways set 2T instead of 1T in Memory section of UEFI !.

From adding full user control to trusted installer and creator/owner in Windows/Microsoft. net and Program Data directories to therepair service verifier, making sure virus scanner is off, fixit solutions, sfc /scannow's clean bill of health, uninstalling a few upgrades mentioned with .netframe 4.0 and 3.5 etc etc. I get a fatal error if I try to uncheck .net 3.5 (the only version I can see since all other have been uninstalled) in 'turn windows features on and off), smartmsizap, msiinv, Smart boot(cold boot? with the startup items not checked and initial boot config). I think something is wrong here with either registry or program permissions because the initial 4.5.1/4.5.2 install zips to a random c:/ directory and then it asks me to find netfx_core_x64.msi which I point to in that directory, but says it is not the netfx_core_x64.msi that came with the installation.

As of current, I do not have any working .net framework which is bad because 1) some progrmas, ie video games require it 2) my schoolwork/development environments need it for things like Git

Another weird thing is although I manually installed net framework 1.1, only 3.5 shows up in the 'turn windows features on or off' and I can't 'uncheck' it or add the sub trees underneath it. Almost like it is not there but doesn't want to install additional componenets or be completely uninstalled.

Hi kwvance, welcome to Techspot forums!

Try this:
Run dxdiag, disable Direct3D hardware acceleration, reboot, enable it (not sure if that requires a reboot too).

When I reboot my system I get a pop-up error message from my Norton SystemWorks '03:

header of pop-up window is:
"Norton Protection: ATTENTION"

The text in the box is:
"Log File Initialization Error, Drive C:"

If I X out of the window, or click ok approx 3/8 of the time I get the BSOD with a stop message referring to a driver for my Gravis Controller.

I fail to see what the driver could have to do with a Log File error?

This has me very nervous as I don't really wanna lose my drive. What's more, it's a very annoying little glitch.

I've checked Symantec Consumer knowlegde base, and googled for fixes/info extensively.

Please, any help/info would be GREATLY appreciated.

Pentium 4; Win98se. Hard disk C-4 GB free space. Hard disk D-16 GB free space.
I observed that on my program "Accent Express" that all the menu had changed from English to symbols. Also at the same time on "Microsoft Reader" my books had changed from English to what appeared to be Hebrew ,but was meaningless.I checked the computer using "Trojan Remover" and found and removed two trojans.
This action restored "Microsoft Reader" to normal, but not "Accent Express".This program was not found in "Add/remove" so I deleted all the files manually including entries in the Register.
Using the official CD I attempted to reinstall "Accent Express" but I got the following message:-
" Setup initialization error. Insufficient memory or disk space."
Another peculiarity-looking in the Recycle Bin there is no trace of the "Accent Express" files I deleted.
Please help as I have documents that can only be opened with Accent Express

Windows ME
DirectX 9.0b
Athlon Thunderbird 1.4Ghz
Giga-byte GA-7DX MotherBoard
512MB PC2100 266DDR Memory
GEFORCE 128MB 440MX Graphics Card(new)

Sadly, at this time, I?m not able to run any 3D games with my new video card. Regardless of the 3D game I'll get a "Direct3D initialization error" or something similar. When I run DirectX Diagnostics and test Direct3D I get the following errors:

Direct3D 7 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x80004005 (Generic failure)
Direct3D 8 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x8876086c (error code)
Direct3D 9 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x8876086c (error code)

Some things to note:
-Have very latest DirectX (9.0b)(ran fine with my Old 32MB Radeon VE)
-COMPLETELY uninstalled previous Graphics Drivers including a registry cleaning
-Have very latest nVidia Geforce Driver 45.23
-Bought and returned a Geforce 4 Ti4200 128MB two weeks ago(thinking it was defective at the time). Used the same nVidia driver (45.23) and had the EXACT same problem I?m having now. Leads me to suspect it?s related to that driver.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance,

Hav u check your directx? maybe you get a few corrupted files. for cleaning previously installed driver, you did it with tool or manually? try using driver cleaner tool, for detonator use detonator rip, for another tool you can get it at guru3d.com.
Hope helps.

If your computer can access the internet but could not resolve the address, this problem is caused by your ISP, the ISP's server computer doesn't tell your computer the DNS server information.

I finally upgraded to XP from Win98.
Primary drive works fine, but can't find photos or music on secondary drive. When booting up I get a Log File Initialization Error form Norton Systemworks.
When I run Musicmatch, I get a message saying it is unable to find files.
Not sure what to make of it - computer recognizes the drive and shows better than half the drive is full. Any one have any ideas what XP did to my drive?

Did you have GoBack installed on the win98 system?

You may have to uninstall NSW . . which does more harm than good on a XP machine IMO

I am using Windows 7 build 7100 X64. I have a Microsoft VX3000 Webcam. I think when I first installed it, it was working. I have been beating my brains out searching on the web for solutions and seen some threads here, nothing has fixed the initilization error (that's why I get when I try and run the Lifecam software). I can't even get into configuration.

I listed my hardware profile upon signing up so you can see it, it's kind of oldish system, socket 939.

I know the webcam works, with the latest drivers, in Windows XP SP3 on another system.

I have changed USB ports. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I've tried manually loading the .inf file.

It shows, in Device Manager, that the driver is working ok, both for the cam and the sound of the mic. I have tried, as I said, loading the .inf files for both of those.

I am using Norton's Beta Internet Security. I have a Razer Lachesis Mouse with the latest drivers for it.

I really need this to work because my loved ones live in another country right now and I miss them seeing me and me seeing them.

How do I report this to MS?

Does anyone have some ideas on what I can do to fix this?

You can try this method - you can install the vista driver (preferably as its the one thats will more than likely have the least issues) or if that doesnt work you can try the xp driver. To resolve the OS mismatch with these drivers, so they will install on W7 do the following thats if they wont install normally and you get an error :

To install a driver OR program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with vista/xp etc - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.

Go here to dowload http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/do...x?category=ICE

If you have already tried the vista driver and are having the problems listed go straight to installing the xp driver.

I have a HP 2600N color laserjet which has served me well for many years. Suddenly, since yesterday, it will not print graphics files. It prints text documents (from Open Office) just fine, but graphics files have failed to print from Photoshop Elements 2, Firefox and Windows 7 Paint.

If I attempt to use Page Setup in Print Preview I get the error noted in the thread title. If I try to print without using Page Setup, it simply does not print. It shows up as "Error - Print" in the print queue when printed from Paint or simply as a printing document when printed from Photoshop Elements or Firefox.

I am able to print test pages from within the Windows printer troubleshooting utility, which makes me think the connection and printer are both working. The troubleshooting utility does not detect any problems.

The HP Toolbox utility says "An unknown error occurred". It suggests I check the connection and power cord, which I know are working because of the previous paragraph.

All I can figure is a recent Windows update broke my printer. Any ideas? Computer info is in my profile.

Good morning,

I just installed 007 Quantum of Solace and I can't get it to run. The box claims I need an NVIDIA GeForce 6600 128 MB or better, and I only have a GeForce FX 5200. No big surprise, I receive an error:

// Error during initialization:
// Video card or driver doesn't support separate alpha blend, glow will be disabled.

A second window (Bond 08 console) pops up with the same message. The game does not come up.

Based on that error, it seems to me that I should be able to play the game without glow. It fails to load after that screen, however. Anything I can do, or do I have to buy a new card?

A:Quantum of Solace - Error During Initialization

Probobly the 5200 was a notorius card that got nvdia into alot of probems due strictly to its not goodnesss then finding out nvidia cheated on some benchmarks to make it seem much better than it was. If you are running on a vista machine I would recomend looking at one of the ATI cards they just seem to run a little more stable in vista. And since I'm guessing its AGP ATI has a nuch better more modern AGP lineup still being produced.

either of these cards should blow away your 5200 and they may even work with you power supply check your specs.
