VPN client access via Proxy Server

Q: VPN client access via Proxy Server

Guys,
I need some expertise "know how" in this matter. I have an office in location A and another office in location B.
A is protected by Firewall-1 Checkpoint and running Exchange 5.5 mail system. Point B is using Proxy Server 1.1 and Exchange 5.5.
Office A is the HQ and Office B is the branch. I need to sync the Exchange for these 2 offices. How do I go about doing it?
I intend to use only VPN remote client access to login users from Location B to Location A. By doing so, I dun think I sync my Exchange on both end but at least I can control those those login in via VPN.
Ideas/advices much appreciated.
Gracias

Preferred Solution: VPN client access via Proxy Server

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I would like to ask the community of these Forums for help to set my Desktop computer running on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit to access chat programs that I have dowloaded from the Web and have installed on my PC.
My browser is Firefox 3.6.9 but i am unsure if the browser is involved in this.

Anyways, I do get in my e-mail a fresh daily list of free proxies to use to connect to the web, so given that I first have to open the program from icons that i already have on my Desktop ...
does anyone know how to set things so when I open them they would show -to anyone who wants to monitor(chat users and server owners on the other end)- the IP, geographic location and/or name of Internet Service Provider of the Proxy address itself and not MY OWN IP, location and ISP (as it happens now without the use of a proxy)?

Should anyone would like to take a peek at those 3 chat places before responding they are:

A. Halsoft Chat: www.vpchat.com

B. Yak Chat: www.yackity-yak.com/

2.. Then go to desktop and Install the client.
3.. The Client will install to its on folder.
4.. Will not in any way hurt any other client u may have.

I hope I am in the right area here as I believe this is a Norton problem
At random times I get the following message while running M$ internet explorer.
"Common client network proxy server has encountered a problem and needs to close" it then apologizes for the inconvenience. I did have this problem a few months ago and I was directed to uncheck the box that states "Use a proxy server for this connection" (Tools - Internet options - connections - settings) I did this and the problem stopped, but now it is back and the box is still unchecked. I cannot find anything else that seems to sort the problem.

When looking at the information that is sent to Microsoft I have the following information.

Error Signature
SZ APPNAME: CCPROXY.EXE
SZ APPVER: 2.1.6.3
SZ MODNAME: PFMISC.DLL
SZMODVER: 2.0.2.806
OFFSET 0000159b

Files included in the report back to M$

C:\Docume~1\user\locals~1\temp\wer4821.dir00\ccproxy.exe.mdmp
C:\Docume~1\user\locals~1\temp\wer4821.dir00\appcompat.txt

These files I believe are associated with Norton.
If anyone could give me some advice I would be grateful as it is driving me potty because you have to close down after it occurs.

Thanks

My setup is well wired up, no question there. I'm (trying to)install Proxy Server 2.0 on NT4 Server (to which I added service pack 4 & Option Pack 4). The server has two NIC's, one to the LAN and one to the WAN. The hardware (router, hub, cables) works, that's for sure. I got my DNS addresses all written out, both NIC's configured, no WINS server, backlog of addresses entered from 192.168.1.100 to 254... The Internet connection does work, the DHCP is in the router, the NIC on the inside gets its IP adress no problem upon booting, the other one I assigned one to it... I don't get it, and this is just not getting done.
Thank you

A:Proxy server can't access internet

What is the error message when you try to ping a site on the WAN? Are the DNS servers internal or external, and, if external, can you ping them by numeric address? Can you run a traceroute anywhere? Can you ping the addie of the NIC-WAN card? It sounds like you may well have tried these, but it certainly helps for us to know what you have and haven't done so we can help ya. Let us know!

Over the last year a co-worker and I have been developing a complex Job-Costing system in a Microsoft Access Database (4.0). It is a 50 Meg file that is on our Server. The problem is that only one person can Access the Database at a time. This is going to be hell when we accually release this to the other 15 people is the office. I have experimented with an access 2000 Project (MSDE Client/Server) but I dont think it is the option for our office. I was wondering what was needed to make our database multi-user. It says it can handle up to 255 multiple users, and 1 user is far from that limit.
Please give me all the information you can. Thanks.

I appear to be the victim of some piece of malware or virus that has added a proxy server setting that I am unable to get rid of. The main symptoms are that I am unable to change my proxy server settings in Windows 10. It appears to use this setting http=127.0.0.1:8080;. The result of this is that I am unable to do searches in the omnibar of Google Chrome (just takes me to a blank page) and I can't visit certain webpages, also if I am able to do a Google search the "Search Tools" button is missing.

I looked around on the internet and have tried a few fixes, I've deleted or changed the registry entries mentioned in Philip Turner's reply here: https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/446898-can-t-disable-proxy-in-ie10?page=1

I also changed the entry mentioned here: https://fixedit.itxpress.biz/2014/10/08/unable-to-disable-windows-proxy-setting/

Making these changes allowed me to change the proxy server settings and once I change "Automatically detect settings" to on and "Use a a proxy server" to off then the issue is fixed and everything behaves normally.

The problem is, once I restart my computer the settings revert back and are again unable to be changed unless I delete/change all the above registry entries again. I'm pretty sure that whatever did this is still on my computer somewhere and I need some help finding and eliminating it. Either that, or there is still some hidden registry entry that I am unable to find.

Hello! I am my company's Network Administrator, but I am not very familiar with Proxy-Server (Microsoft, V1.1) which we use as a "firewall". I've been fooling around with it a bit, but here is all I want to do:
I (the admin) would like full Internet Access. We don't block sites or IP's, but I can't connect to things like (here's an example) http://www.exite.com/games )
I can connect, but when the java applet attempts to load, it says it cannot connect.

Same for applications like Napster, or other programs like that where you have to get a connection to the internet to run it.

(Now, don't think I sit around playing games at work and downloading stuff- I need to do some on-line classes for my accounting software and the same thing keeps happening, but I thought I would use a familiar example or two.)

I am using Microsoft Proxy Server V 1.1 on an NT server and a Windows 98 client machine. I connect through a proxy server setting (company name, port 80). I am using a cable modem, which is run directly into the server.
I tried going into the security settings and granting myself full permission, but it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas??

Suzette

I forgot to say- I also cannot connect through Front Page, which I need to use to edit my company website.

Hi Team,

My specific question :- is it possible to access the mac via a remote client so that it opens in a window on a Win7 64bit I7 pc?

I ultimately want to control the mac desktop via my win7 pc, mouse and keyboard.

Thanks in advance.

A:Remote Access to Mac mini via VNC client/server

Why wouldn't you just install VNC on your new Mac machine, allowing it to be controlled from the PC?

The product itself is cross-platform.

There are downloads for each host and each client environment.

I'm not a Mac person and only use VNC for Windows hosts and clients. But the product's description certainly shows it as being intended to be cross-platform capable.

I am having a very frustrating problem with unauthorized and silent/secret access of my computer. No matter what operating system I install, I am always setup as a client, and someone immediately gains access and control over my entire system. I become unable and authorized to make changes that will prevent or stop this access. I have tried making a windows 7 lite version myself, but either I do not eliminate the correct services or features that I need to, or I eliminate too much and the system does not work correctly or install at all. I do not know anything about group policy, or the snap ins, or the management console, where I know is the solution. I have tried, but while I make changes, they are reverted immediately back, and I am locked out, or lose access to those settings, or my system is shutdown remotely and it locks up, or I screw the system up and it won't boot. I am hoping someone here knows how to eliminate all possibilities, back doors, tunnels, pipes, blue tooth access, remote access, remote assistance, and or any and all third party access to my machine etc. that will permanently disallow and deny any and all remote access, remote desktop, remote assistance, Bluetooth access to my pc except for myself- one user, one log in. I hope this is the correct place to request that sort of thing on here. Dear all
i am trying to separate the front and back end of my access database . so that the tables are placed at one separate location and the .mde files can be distributed to users .
BUT the problem is that,

1) i dont know how to build this server/client stuff.
2) how can i make my .mde file (which at the moment is accessing data from its own tables) fetch data from another computer on the network.
for instance lets take the northwind database , it takes data from its own tables. what are the modifications which i can apply to it.

A:access front and backend separation, server client development

That's an easy one

(although this isn't strictly speaking client/server design, but its what you're asking for, and something I've done before)

1) Create a network location that everyone who needs to access the database can access in the same way (i.e. the same drive letter)
2) Create a copy of your database in that location
3) Delete all queries, forms, macros, reports etc from the "back-end" database copy
4) Delete all the tables from your "front-end" database copy
5) Create table links in your "front-end" database to the "back-end" (In Access 2007, this is "External data" \ "Access" \ "Link to the datasource"... in Access 2003 its on the file menu I think "File \ get external data \ link tables"

That'll get you the "front-end" \ "back-end" split, then to create an MDE file you just need to go to "Database tools \ Make MDE" and save this and send it to your users.

CRecordset is used in our code to access database, and the application already close connection and reopen connection when the network come back.

The issue is:
Step 1: The Client 1 disconnect network.
Step 2: Add one record into table1.
Step 3: Connect network for Client 1.
The new record can be display by Client 2, but can't be display by Client 1.

If I copy the database file in Client 1 to local driver, then the application can get the new record.
It seems the network driver has some cache bug.

Any one can help me on this issue?

This sounded suspicious to me like something to do with cookies or something so I did a quick google search and found a lot of information on client side proxies but it was too technical for me to make much sense out of.

I am not having any problems that I know of with my system but if anyone can give me a simple explanation of what a client side proxy is supposed to do - and if it is a sign of a virus or something - I would appreciate it. -Dan

We run a web proxy server on our network for internet access.
On client machines (running Windows 2012 R2) I have configured the proxy server setting in Internet Explorer "Tools\Internet Settings\Connections\LAN Settings" to point at the designated web proxy server.
When attempting to browse websites from IE I receive the "The proxy server isn't responding" error.
Conversely, browsing the same sites via Google Chrome and Firefox (installed on the same client server) return web pages without error.
In addition, if I run Internet Explorer as administrator (Right Click\Run as Administrator), I am able to browse web sites without receiving the error.
It would appear that the issue is isolated to browsing via IE when not run in elevated mode.
Has anyone come across this issue?

A:Server 2012 R2 - Internet Explorer Proxy Server Issue

Hi Dicki,
First, please try to reset the Internet Explorer. Some plug-ins may affect the proxy.
If it doesn't work, please try to perform a network capture on the client.
Please check if the client send the http traffic to the proxy server at the correct port.
If the client has sent the http traffic to the proxy server, please check if there is any warning or error in the proxy server.

Hiya
This is a spoofing vulnerability that exists in the affected products and that could enable an attacker to spoof trusted Internet content. Users could believe they are accessing trusted Internet content when in reality they are accessing malicious Internet content, for example a malicious Web site. However, an attacker would first have to persuade a user to visit the attacker’s site to attempt to exploit this vulnerability.
Affected Software:

• Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0 Service Pack 1
• Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000 Service Pack 1 and Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000 Service Pack 2

Note The following software programs include Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000 (ISA Server 2000). Customers using these software programs should install the provided ISA Server 2000 security update.

• Microsoft Small Business Server 2000

• Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 Premium Edition

Hi,

I am having an issue with offline files created offline syncing back to the server. I have set up a network share to be available offline on a client computer. All files are available offline without issue. Here is the issue however. If I set the folder to work offline any file I create in the folder when it is offline just disappears when the folder comes back online, there are no conflicts or sync failures reported in sync center. If I create a new folder offline the folder does sync back to the server. Any changes made to an existing file are also replicated back to the server once the share is back online. So the issue is only with newly created files when the share is offline. I have not been able to replicate this error on any other file server in our environment, However I have recreated the issue with multiple shares with multiple Win 7 clients on this file server.

Steps taken so far.

Checked and reset permission levels on the share.
Recreated new shares from scratch for testing.
Disabled and enabled offline files on the client computer and cleared the offline cache.
Check various registry entry settings.
Disabled cashing on the File server.
Tested with XP the issue does not exist with XP.

I have spent hours researching this error online to no avail.

The clients are running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit
The File server is Server 2003 Standard 32 bit with SP2

Any help or ideas would be most welcome.

I've seen the complaints about this problem but with no clear resolution. There are some hot fixes listed that may help, updating to Windows 7 SP1 is supposed to help in some cases but nothing seems for certain.

No way for me to recreate this problem but apparently others have the same problem.

There is a process running on my computer called csrss.exe

I went to http://www.processlibrary.com and looked it up and came up with 2 different things. One says it is a Trojan and needs to be removed. The same exact process name also says it is Microsoft client server runtime server and SHOULD NOT be removed.

How I am supposed to tell the difference so I do not make a mistake by either leaving it alone or removing it???

A friend is moving his business, and the new business park that he's setting up shop in does not have anyway to get any wired internet to his building, excluding a T1 line, which he can't justify the cost of.

One windows 7 machine acts as the server, primarily for Quickbooks database, and there are two other windows 7 machines that are clients, reading off said database.

He's getting one of those usb dongles for wireless internet service, for the server only (the other two computers will be tethered to a smartphone for internet for QB and windows updates periodically).

They do NOT want to share the servers wireless connection to the other machines.

My only concern was if the server will continue to try to check the LAN for internet connectivity, or will it check both network connections when one fails, or is there a setting I can tell them to change to ensure it knows to go to the wireless dongle for internet all the time, without interfering with the workstations talking to the server over the LAN to get to the database?

The setup at the old office was business class DSL, they are using a relatively new Linksys router, which had the DSL authentication information.

Thank you!

A:LAN network for server/client only, USB hotspot for server internet.

I managed to find a solution this morning, for anyone that's interested, the whole article is here: Multiple Network Connections at the Same Time on Windows | Ivan Zlatev

But the short answer is, under the advanced properties of TCP/IP v4, uncheck automatic metric, set your internet to a value of 1, and the LAN to a value of 9999.

Hi I'm working on a client/server with the Java programming language and trying to figure out how to protect my server. With my current Virus/Firewall protection suite theres nothing I can do to keep out unwanted Java applications on the port I choose to allow the Java SE Binary through for clients accessing the server application. ESET Smart Security 4 is what I am using. Does anybody know of a security suite that would allow only a specific Java application to get through the firewall? I'm not to sure on this subject because my firewall is identifying any Java application as only the "Java SE Binary" and not I'm sure if you can even really name your Java application like you would something you would write in C++. Any information would be appreciated, thank you.

I have 6 computers in a workgroup that need to be synchronized to a workgroup server.  The server is a virtual Win 7 running on a Windows 10 host.  Neither the server or client computers have internet access.  I started the process by configuring
the host to use its CMOS clock as its time source, which seems to have worked. The client computers are not virtual and can communicate with the Win 10 host as I am able to RDP to the host from the clients.  I made the following registry key changes to
get that accomplished.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\W32Time\Config]
"AnnounceFlags"=dword:00000005

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\W32Time\Parameters]
"Type"="NoSync"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\W32Time\TimeProviders\NtpClient]
"Enabled"=dword:00000000

"SpecialPollTimeRemaining"=hex(7):00,00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\W32Time\TimeProviders\NtpServer]
"Enabled"=dword:00000001

<-------End of REG file------->

After applying these changes, I ran the following 'w32tm /config /update /syncfromflags: NO
I get a message that the command is successful.

I'm looking at setting up windows 2003 terminal servers all over the place to replace the awful thing people are currently doing here - vncing servers with one small shared password among everyone <holding my hands over my ears for the backlash>. Don't blame me, it's another awful legacy I have to get rid of...

1. I've got to set up a Terminal Server Licensing server and was thinking about putting this on my second domain controller. I was wondering what would happen in this server dies, though. Is there some way of having resilience in this scenario? Perhaps a second Licensing server or something, the way you have 2 or more Domain Controllers?

2. Also, I know that Windows XP has an RDP client, I've used before on many occasions, but what about all the Windows 2000 clients that I still have out there. What should I do for them to access the new Terminal Servers?

A:Terminal Server license server(s)? RDP client for Windows2K?

I'm not 100% sure on #1, but I believe that the TS licensing becomes integrated into the AD, so if one DC goes down, the other one will be able to check licensing. On another note, if you are using the TS for administration only, I don't believe you needs the TS Licensing to be installed.

For #2, you can download the latest version of the RDP client from MS's website. It should also be available through Windows Updates, although I think Win2K isn't supported any longer, other than Critical Updates.

I keep getting this error:

"Common Client Network Proxy Service has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I have Windows XP SP2. DSL

details about the error:
szAppName : CCPROXY.EXE szAppVer : 2.1.6.3 szModName : PXYHTTP.DLL
szModVer : 2.1.6.3 offset : 000070d2

C:\DOCUME~1\Ian\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER301a.dir00\CCPROXY.EXE.mdmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Ian\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER301a.dir00\appcompat.txt
I believe it has something to do with Norton. CCPROXY.exe

When this error happens the internet stops working until i reboot.

So i went to services and had it restart the service everytime it fails for a temporary solution.

What is the permanant solution??

Thank you for taking the time to read my problem and thanks to whoever tries to help.

i am just messing about experimenting on a few things at home and wondered if someone could give me some pointers on the folowing:
I have myself a win2k server that is connected to the internet using a cable modem connected using a ethernet net card.
I also have a 98 machine networked to the server using another ethernet net card in a workgroup
I want to use the server as a proxy server so i can access the internet from the 98 machine
i have tried a few diffrent things to get this working but usually end up losing all communication with the 98 pc
from what i can gather it involves setting up tings with DNS, and sharing the connection to the internet, but i am not getting to far at the mo.
can anyone point me in the right direction or better tell me how to do it?

Hello everyone.

Since rolling out a Web filtering solution to my office, all of the users here have reported the same problem: If they try to run the SSTP VPN Connection that normally neatly links their laptops to the office when on the road, they get a BSOD.

After testing a little it became obvious that its not the proxy's fault, or doesn't seem to be at least. If you put anything into IE's Proxy Server settings fields then try to run the VPN, you will get the same result. It doesn't even need to be a valid address (Blah.blah.corp works great). Even adding the VPN to the Proxy Exceptions list does nothing.

Am I really unique in experiencing this problem? The interent seems very quiet on the matter.

The computers are all:
Dells. XPS M1330 laptops or Optiplex 755 Desktops (Driver updates make no issues - problemis manifested on both wireless and wired connections)
Vista Business
Service Pack 1
Fully Patched to latest (As of yesterday) patches via WSUS
running:
Office 2007
Trend Micro OfficeScan
Office Communicator CLient
... And that's about it.

Can anybody offer any advice on resolving these issues?

Kind Regards
M

Good Morning!

Do you know that the bugcheck (STOP error) on the BSOD is?

If you have a little time and have access to one of the crashing systems, I can probably answer that question for you. 5-8 minutes of system time and zipping some files on your part is it - please follow THESE instructions.
