I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

hi shouu,
Welcome to the Forums.
It's likely that the boot priority has been changed in the BIOS causing the Boot Menu to show up everytime the unit is turned ON / restarted.
Things that you can try:
1. Boot into the BIOS by continuously tappnig F2 on startup (before the Lenovo logo shows up) or by pressing the OneKey Recoveyr button.
   - Sample image
2. Once In the BIOS navigate to the Startup tab > Boot Priority Order and ensure that the Boot Menu is at the very bottom or at the exclude list.
  - Sample image
  - Sample image
When finished, hit F10 to save and exit and observe.
Let me know if this works for you.

So when I turn on my lenovo u410 laptop I get this menu box up as seen below in a black background. I've played around with the menu and I get nothing. This has been happening for the past few days and usually it manages to get past this and start up normally. However today is the day it's decided to stay put and I have no idea what to do. This is very frustrating as I only bought the laptop less then 2 months ago. Please help!     It's windows 8 btw

A:lenovo u410 won't work. Boot menu/App menu pops up

Hi N_A,
Thanks for posting and welcome to the Lenovo Community,
I?d like to guide you in a way to try to set the HDD (Hard Disk Drive) inside the BIOS to be the first priority booting order so we will try to return the BIOS to factory default settings:
Step1: Please turn off the machine and then at the left side you can see the NOVO button which is the button with the curve arrow
Step2: Press on the NOVO button and then you will get option press on BIOS Setup
Step3: Please press on FN+F9 together and then press Enter on Yes option and then FN+F10 to save and exit and then press Enter
Hope the information helps. Let us know.

Now every time I turn on the laptop I'm stuck on Boot Menu / App Menu, out of the four options that are there I can only press setup, but I have no idea what to do in setup that may help. I can't get on my laptop at all this way and it's very frustrating :/

Usually pressing F10 or F12 [or other Fx key] just as the Brand's logo is fading or has gone off will get to where you can make the choice. Usually there's a couple of lines of text on the black screen that specifies the key for boot choice and for entering the BIOS Setup to make changes. I usually set the Optical drive as the first boot device,.

I have bought Lenovo Essential G580 (59-324061) Laptop (3rd Gen Ci5/ 4GB/ 500GB/ DOS) on Feb 2013, its out of warranty now. I have installed Ubuntu in the laptop, not sure how i formatted the hard disk during installation. I guess it was full format of hard disk during installation (while selecting hard disk). Till today everything was working fine. From today morning, there is always a Boot menu which is being displayed with following options:1. ubuntu2. PCI LAN: Atheros Boot Agent3. ATA HDD: ST500LT012-9WS1424. ATAPI CD: MAT**bleep**A DVD-RAM UJ8D1 I have pressed enter in both Ubuntu and ATA HDD options. But after a brief duration the control comes back to the same menu I have specified before.  I am not able to understand what is happening, or how to boot to my ubuntu. Please help. I have searched for possible solutions in the community, but could not find any information either.

A:Always showing boot menu /app menu on startup, not booting

Solved this at last. Just removed the battery and after 2-5 mins, switched on again, it worked fine. Probably this was due to the NOVO button (small button near to the power button) was clicked accidentally.  This probably made a hard reset, of the settings, and DONE.

If those steps did not work either,  You might need to contact Lenovo Technical Support and have the system shipped to Repair Facility for BIOS Reflash.

Hi all.  A few days ago the power ran down on my yoga to where it turned off while I was working.  I plugged in the power cord and powered the machine up again.  It only goes to this Boot Menu/App Menu screen.  I can get to the Startup Interrupt Menu by pressing enter.  From there I can enter the BIOS Utility, but am lost inside there.  There are 3 other options from the interrupt menu.  ESC = resume normal startup (takes me back to boot menu screen); F10= to diagnose hardward (ran full diganoses and everything passed); and F12=to choose a temporary startup device (takes me also back to boot menu).   The only thing that has changed on my computer is that I installed windows 10 last week.  It ran perfectly for 3 days, and only when the power ran down did this happen.  Would very much appreciate any guidance here.  Thanks!

This computer has Windows XP and there’s annoying issue with it… in other words I am truly fed up with it. I will explain this to the very best I can. When I am on my PC anywhere at any unknown time… the start menu pops up by itself and comes on and off… then it freezes my mouse like I have no control with my computer and other times the curser goes all over the place flickering… and when I attempt to gain control or shut it off… it opens program windows or creates new icons on desktop such as documents, wav, etc. I do gain control of my computer at times and then this problem happens again and again. I have gotten opinions from others that they said it’s either, spy-ware, a glitch and possible a Trojan which my Norton (always updated) cannot detect.

A clean install is a possible answer for all this but I like to back up my data first before I do a drastic attempt on this… I feel that this issue may interfere and make bad data copies of my CDRS. Overall I like to stop and remove this annoying problem from my PC first before I make drastic changes…

Please help?

When typing text in Microsoft Word, or in a new email in Outlook Express, or in an installed genealogy program, the small menu normally associated with right clicking the mouse will pop up completely at random. This can happen three times while typing one sentence, or may not happen after typing several pages. I can not cause it to happen deliberately -- it is totally unpredictable. It occurs while I am actively typing, not touching the mouse, and not hitting any stray keys on the keyboard. Typing can not be resumed until a mouse click clears the menu.

I have tried a different keyboard to eliminate the chance of having a flakely keyboard, I have scanned for viruses and spyware/malware, and I have run the System File Checker. The problem is still there.

Any help to resolve this problem will be greatly appreciated.

A:edit menu pops up when typing

Welcome to TSG!
Are you sure you're not hitting the Right-Click key on the keyboard? Most newer keyboards have a Menu/Right-Click key next to the right CTRL key. Easy to hit when using the right Shift key. The symbol is usually a menu with a mouse pointer.
Shift F10 will do the same thing.

Do you have a cordless mouse? It's remotely possible that interference from another wireless device is causing this. If using a corded mouse eliminates the issue, try repositioning the mouse receiver. Some cordless mice can pick a different channel to use if you re-associate the mouse and receiver, generally by pressing a button on the receiver, then a connect button on the mouse.

If it's not one of the above, I haven't a clue.

You can dismiss the pop-up menu with the ESC key, saves having to move your hand to the mouse.

I have a friend running Windows 7 Pro on a Dell Latitude XT2 tablet. At apparently random times, but especially when she launches Excel (2007) the Start menu pops up. If she happens to keep typing while the menu is opening, it begins a "search" for an item that matches the last key she typed.

I asked her if Excel was trying to set itself up again, but she said not. I told her to look for a stuck key and to try holding down the Ctrl key and hitting the Esc key a few times but these had no effect. Any ideas?

Sounds like either failing circuitry or a possible lint build up in the switch button/wheel.

You can address the latter by blowing out the button/wheel area with "canned air".

I was typing the other night & it all of a sudden started typing letters I was not typing & the lights on front of laptop started flashing. I stopped immediately booted into safe mode & ran superantispyware & went to bed. Next morning, it said nothing found. so then I ran malwarebytes, nothing found & avast scan, nothing found. Then the keyboard quit working all together, but touchpad still works. I hooked up a usb keyboard & it works fine. When I restart computer it gets stuck on the windows 7 boot menu & will go no further until I hit enter, never had to do that before. Also a few times firefox would only run in it's safe mode, now it's like normal but takes forever to open the first window. Went back into safe mode, ran microsoft security scan. Found 1 item, deleted that. Still doing the same thing. I dont think it's the keyboard, because I installed a new one about 6 months ago & too many other strange things happening all at once. I have toshiba portege Z930 and my function keys worked until I have installed YAC (Yet another cleaner) to get rid of some malware, that worked, but the problem is that even after uninstalation, function keys got broken:

FN + y/z which should highlith the keyboard is not working (I've installed something called "Function Key" so that works for now, as well with FN 1,FN 3,FN 4, and 3+4 for volume)

but others doesn't simply work:
FN + ESC (mute)
FN + F2 (eco mode)
FN + F5 (monitor switch)
FN + F8 (wifi/bluetooth switch
FN + F9-12

Could anybody point me to right drivers for that? Thanks a lot

A:Portege Z930 - FN keys Issue - not showing menu on a screen

What Windows system is installed?
In case of Windows 7 you must install Toshiba Value Added Package
In case of Win 8.1 you need to install the Toshiba System settings.

But note: some FN key functionality depends on the 3rd software. For example you will not be able to use the FN+F2 eco mode if ECO Utility isn?t installed.

But why you don?t set the OS back to early time point before you used the cleaner tool?
