I can't figure out what tuner card I have

Q: I can't figure out what tuner card I have

I have a tuner card, and have made sure it is properly installed, but I don't have drivers for it, and I don't know how to tell what tuner card it is so that I can look for the proper drivers.

I believe it plugs into an x1 or an x4 PCI express slot, but I'm not sure which one it is.

All I need is a way to figure out what tuner card it is.

Preferred Solution: I can't figure out what tuner card I have

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: I can't figure out what tuner card I have

if there is no manufacturers name on the card, look for the FCC number and do a google search, did you look under device manager to see if the card is listed there?

Intervideo TV Tuner Software,TV Capture Card WDM TV Tuner=Headache:

Recently purchased HP dx2000 Desktop and run WinXPHome SP2 and vendor installed a TV tuner card for me. I run a 'no-name brand' AC-powered amplified TV antenna via coax into the TV Card and set up software for 'antenna use'. Ten local TV channels come in 'off-air' for free.

When I exit the Intervideo TV Tuner program my computer crashes, then restarts and 'recovers from a serious error". . .I have pics of error messages.
Four times out of five the Tv Tuner package runs perfect. . .then it will crash on program exit again and reboot with error messages.

IRQ status reads: >(IRQ 22 TV Capture Card WDM Video Capture OK)

So. . .then I uninstalled the software and went back to the vendor. "please re-install the TV tuner software." Then same problem surfaces again. intermittent system crashes on exit one out of five times.

And now. . .PC TV runs perfectly 4 out of 5 times, crashes the 5th time. Sound works now. I am stumped.

Any ideas from all you bright guys and gals out there? Have seen many posts with Intervideo problems but none matching my case with TV Card and Powered Antenna use for local Off-Air reception of live TV channels.
The vendor described the 'Glaring Video' PC TV package he installed as "good hardware but touchy software! Verrry touchy!" Neither he nor I could find the problem. I'm still learning and might fall un... Read more

My friend wants to get a card to allow him to plug his PS3 into his computer so he can use it there. I was hoping for some suggestions to how to do this.

I found this device on Dell : http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...etail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=A1643632

Any help would be appreciated.

A:TV tuner card

If he is just trying to play the PS3 on his computer monitor he can just get a the HDMI or VGA out for the PS3 depending on what his monitor has for conenctions. He can even get a switch box to change between the PC and PS3 or some monitors have multiple inputs and you can switch it that way. To get the audio on your PC jsut get a RCA to mini connector and plug into the input on the sound card and you get sound. Also he can use optical if he has that on the machine. If he is looking to record himself playing then any capture card would be fine. I wouldn't recommend the one you picked since there are cheaper alternatives and I also wouldn't buy directly from Dell, you'll pay twice as much. Getting an interal PCI or PCI-E would the best option with USB/Firewire connections being second best. Tigerdirect.com has a varity of capture cards starting at around $20.

Hello, just wanted to record basic over the air channels via RG6 onto my PC and wanted something simple, inexpensive and friendly based with Windows 7. Would be used like a DVR. Any suggestions?

A:tv tuner card or something else?

You need a tuner to receive the stations. One like this Hauppauge Computer Works : WinTV-HVR-950Q Product Description is very simple. You can look at the other offerings by Hauppauge too, like PCI-E cards. Hauppauge makes very reliable tuners.

The Hauppage tuners come with WinTV software. This is very basic software needed to watch and record TV. It might be all you need.

You could also use Windows Media Center to Watch and record. Just be sure to choose a tuner that is recommended for use with WMC.

Background. Purchased a Dell XPS 410 with Vista a couple/few years ago. Ordered with built in TV tuner card. I did a Windows 7 Upgrade on this pc. I have not used the TV Tuner ever as I had no RG6 wire going to area of computer. I do now. All connections seem correct. I do receive a TV signal in other areas.

I don't know how to get the TV to work on this pc. Do I use Windows Media Center or Windows Media Player? Or something else?

And does anyone know if I need new drivers with Windows 7 for this TV Tuner Card? Or do I have to purchase a newer version of the card or any newer card?

I appear to be somewhat technology challenged.

Which one above is my TV Tuner Card?

I'm trying to reinstall an old ATI TV Tuber card - pci version. It worked fine a week ago.

I remember having to use MMC 7.9, the newer ones wouldn't work. I tried to upgrade to MMC 9 this week, but I can't get it to work and can't get 7.9 to work either.

I'm getting an error message when I try to open the TV program -> FATAL ERROR: AtiSServ Registry Access Failed To StartUp!

I've uninstalled/reinstalled the s/w a few times, used a driver cleaner to take all the old remnants of the MMC out, still no luck. I'm using the three software drivers provided on the ATI site. I install them in the order suggested, DAO-MDAC driver, the tuner card driver 1-11-0-0, and then the MMC 7.9.

Any advice on how to get this tuner card working again?

If by chance you do, and don't have drivers, just look for extra input ports like, Comp Video (Yellow, Red, White) plugs, or something like S-Video (Thats not output)

I've decided that it would be great to get a TV tuner card either now or in the future. However, TV tuners aren't anything I know about. I know that I'll need a hybrid or digital tuner (I think), because of the digital conversion that went on this year. Also, I have a cable plug-in about a foot from my computer, and I've just been thinking, "Hey, I can watch TV on my computer!"

So basically, I would like some links to good TV tuners (preferably nothing realllllllly expensive, maybe up to $60 or so, or if they go higher, I may reconsider).

Thanks to anyone!

So there are these STB TV Tuner Cards - model 6000704 - that were used a lot in the late 90s. I have one lying around, and I'm trying to make it work with an Windows XP machine. The only driver that makes the hardware work on XP is a generic driver, which seems to work fine(I got it from driverguide.com), as the hardware shows up in device manager correctly. But since STB was bought out, you can no longer download their TV Tuner Software. So I downloaded a third-party TV Tuner application, and tried using it with my TV Tuner card. I plugged a cable line into the tuner card, fired up the application, it didn't seem to have a problem initializing the card and stuff, but the tv image was just blue. No channels showed up, even though the cable was plugged into the TV tuner card.

Has anyone dealt with this stuff before? Is there any way of making it work in XP?

You can still use it for all sorts

If you have a VCR and movies you want to put on Disc that would be a sweet way of converting that tuner has a ton of uses still

If you have a spliter on your digital tv source run a line to the card it will still catch a signal let me just classify this

If you have reverted to cable and have multiple lines going to different tv's just get one of the lines put a spliter on it and run a line to your pc it should work pretty easy

This is what I bought yesterday, and I was hoping to just plug it all in, install the software, and use it without any problems. But NO! It can never be easy, right? Ha ha...

So I installed it all (properly) and hooked up the cable to the back of it. When I go into "PVR Plus" (the software it came with) and try to click on the "Watch and Record TV" button it does nothing except use up almost 100% of my processor. In task manager it says that honestecTV.exe is the one using it all up, and it won't go away until I end the process.

I am running Vista Home Premium, so I'm sure that's my problem. I tried the drivers that came on the disc and the ones that showed up on Windows Update, but neither fixed the problem. Also, Media Center doesn't recognize my hardware...So am I out of luck with this card? Thanks!

I took this card from an old computer & was hoping someone can help me locate the driver & software I need for this card. I'll be trying to put it in my own computer which is running 7 Pro 64Bit w/SP1.

Okay so I got myself a Easy TV MPEG (SAA913XHL) PCI card. Now its working just fine I can watch television through the software that came with it and all that junk and it even shows up in the system devices correctly. The problem I'm posting about though is that I can't get it to show up in Media Center. I got to the catigory associated with television and and error pops up saying that I don't have a tuner card attached to my computer. So I need you all fine people to tell me what cha all think is going on here cus I'm stumped on the issue.

Hi,

Windows media center doesn't support all TV cards. Check the support list.
