Ideacentre K330 i7-2600 GPU/PSU upgrade

Q: Ideacentre K330 i7-2600 GPU/PSU upgrade

Have client who's had this in place for a few years.. @ purchase (obviously, a few years back), we did PSU/GPU upgrade. Now GPU card bad, want to replace w/whatever this mb can support (had already upgraded other components so that this unit still handles workload). Saw various GPU compatibility lists, but all were pretty dated. Can anyone verify that a GigaByte GTX 750 Ti (WindForce 4GB) will be compatible? I've seen some posts that showed cards w/the GTX 750 Ti as working for them. Thanks for any assistance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello: I am trying to add the second HD (3 Tb) SATA.  The system does not see all the capacity. It is the second HD I've tried.  I suspect that the BIOS does not support it.  By the way, the BIOS updates had not been awailable for long time.  I've tried to use Linux based software to partition the HD, but Windows 7-64 does not see it or even boot.  Thank you, dgaid

I have a K330 with an LGA1155 socket MB and an i7-2600 CPU with a P67 chipset.  According to specs, the P67 chipset supports PCIe 2.0.  Upgraded to a 750w power supply about three - four years ago.  I am running an MSI Radeon R6770 video card with 1GB VRAM (upgraded from the onboard video when I updated the power supply), and even though the minimum specs for Fallout 4 say the game shouldn't run (game specs call for 2GB VRAM or more) it plays OK though at a 15 - 23 average frame rate (a little laggy but I deal).  I'm running Win10 Home Build 10586.I really want to upgrade my video card.  PCIe 3.0 cards are supposed to be backwards compatible with PCIe 2.0 slots.  My motherboard and memory can handle anything I see coming down the pipe in the foreseeable future but I'd like to get one of the new RX 400 series or a new GTX card built on the 14nm architecture to future-proof my video for a while.  I know a PCIe 3.0 MB would be better for the graphics but I don't want the budget hit of a motherboard replacement on top of the graphics update. Will the Lenovo K330 MB support the new video hardware?

I have a M81 small form factor Machine Type: 7518B1U that has a i3-2100 CPU. I want to install a i7-2600 CPU.Now this has a Q65 chipset that Intel says supports the i7-2600 I've done a lot of different projects with the M81, M82 , M83 series, and I knowwith the higher wattage  CPUs in the Sandy Bridge series, M81  M91P ,that Lenovo used the copper core heatsink and fans, and I got a spare one of those  The question I have is there any difference in the motherboards that Lenovoused with the i7 and the i3 with the M81?. Perhaps a CPU microcode update with the bios is needed? There was a thread on the forum somewhere where the advice was to check the machine type of the M81 to determine upgrade ability, but I'm thinking the boards are the same, with differences in the heatsinks. anyone know about this? Thanks

So I just upgraded from XP Pro to Vista (Home Basic 32-bit), everything worked fine under XP. My graphics card wouldn't output until Windows loaded, but the onboard vga would output until then. Since I have installed Vista only the onboard vga adapter works. The ATI card is being correctly identified and Windows attempts to install the dirvers for it; but then it says "Incompatible display adapter has been disabled. At least one display adapter on the system has been disabled because its driver is not compatible with the driver for the VGA adapter." Then the device manager shows the onboard VGA adapter as working correctly and the ATI as having suffered an error during install.

The System is a homemade one:

Intel Core2 Duo E6550 at 2.33
ASRock ConRoe 1333 - D667 R1.0 (the onboard VGA adapter is Intel 82945G Express)
4Gb of Ram dual-channel
and of course the Radeon HD 2600 XT in a PCIe slot

I have tried multiple different versions of the ATI drivers, driver package, and software suite, I just updated the VGA adapter, and Microsoft update is up-to-date.

I am looking into upgrading the GPU in my Ideacentre 700. The new Nvidia GTX 1080/1070s look very appealing and I'm eagerly awaiting the AMD Polaris GPUs. Unfortunately both Nvidia GPU's recommend a PSU of 500W+ and after looking into upgrading the PSU, I can see there are many issues as the Ideacentre doesn't use the typical 24-Pin power cable to the motherboard. Instead it uses a proprietary 10-Pin power cable to it. Without performing the hackery mentioned in this thread, would Lenovo or anywhere else be able to supply me with a more powerful PSU with a 10-pin motherboard power cable?

A:Ideacentre AIO 700 - Ram upgrade

hi andyrossitter,

Welcome to the Forums.

Do you have the AIO 700-24ISH (Intel Skylake CPU)? If yes then the max memory should be 16GB as advertised below:

http://shop.lenovo.com/lt/lt/desktops/ideacentre/aio-700/

Though technically, the memory controller (which is built-in to the CPU) can support 32GB of DDR4 but I recommend you stick with 16GB as this is the tested max memory specification for the unit. It's also better to get a 16GB dual channel kit (2x8GB) for best dual channel compatibility (although another 8GB should work as long as it's identical to the currently installed 8GB).

More info:
DDR4/ -RS Supported Non-ECC / UDIMM Memory Modules (see page 20)

In addition, check this guide to access the RAM slots:

Does anyone know if the case for the Ideacentre 700 supports standard microATX boards? More specifically this one: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/H110M-A/specifications/I did a rough measuring of my stock motherboard's sides and it seemed like it was around 9.6x9.6 which makes it a microATX, I think. I need to upgrade my motherboard before I can upgrade anything else on the computer and the fact that the stock motherboard and PSU are proprietary worries me that the case might not have the correct standoffs or screw locations to support other boards.

Is it possible? It currently has NVIDIA GeForce GT 730. Its not bad, but it definitely isnt enough for me. I would like to upgrade but I'm worried the powersupply cant handle an upgrade.  Please help.

A:Lenovo IdeaCentre 700-25ISH video card upgrade.

I believe that those come with a 400w power supply (PSU), but you should check to be sure.   The 400w PSU would support up to a Nvidia GTX 960 GPU, but beyond that you would probably need to upgrade the PSU to a 600w or better depending what the power requirements are on the GPU(s)  you plan on installing.       You can install a standard 600w (or better) ATX power supply, but you will need to buy a 24pin to 10pin adapter to connect to the system board, because for some reason Lenovo chose to use use a proprietary 10pin connection in its "Easy-to-Upgrade Powerhouses", instead of the industry standard 24pin connection, which before an adapter was released by a 3rd party, made upgrading its "Easy-to-Upgrade" systems PSU very very difficult. Good Luck,   IBM Lenovo PSU Main Power 24-Pin to 10-Pin Adapter Cable (30cm)http://www.moddiy.com/products/IBM-Lenovo-PSU-Main-Power-24%252dPin-to-10%252dPin-Adapter-Cable-%283...

So I just got a new EVGA GTX 1060 SC 6GB yesterday to replace my GTX 650 ti. Of course, installing it could not have gone smoothly, so here's the problem. Upon booting the PC with the new graphics card, the screen displays the "Lenovo" splash screen and does nothing past that - I cannot open the BIOS. It may also be worth noting that the internal speaker beeps once every 30 seconds. After a few beeps, the monitor goes to sleep. I have checked the manufacturer's online manuals for a reason behind the beeping - no such beeping signal exists (not to my finding, at least).Given that the graphics card displays "Lenovo" and the fan runs, I'm not sure that it's a DOA card.Upon putting the old graphics card back in, everything works smoothly. Yes, I uninstalled the drivers for the old card before attempting to insert the new. I also installed the GTX 1060 correctly. It was seated all the way in and the power cable was plugged in as well. I have installed the new card several different times to be sure. I have gone into the BIOS and told it to use the GPU specifically as well. This is a pre-built Lenovo Ideacentre gaming desktop and I got it used. This is the closest I could find to what I have: http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/779722/Lenovo-Ide...*Only difference I know of is that my PC has 16 GB of RAM.The label says it was made in 2012, so not sure if my motherboard or BIOS is too old...? I haven't been able to find a BIOS update on Lenovo's website after searching for a while... Read more

I have an IdeaCentre K450 with an i7 4770. BIOS version and date is LENOVO I1KT34AUS, 2013-11-18. I have checked online with the Lenovo Companion software and there doesn't seem to be any newer BIOS version for this model. The SKU is: "LENOVO_MT_1012". I have successfully replaced the PSU with a 600W version. If I put an i7 4790K in this machine, would it work? Has anyone tried? Has anyone tried a GTX 1080 in this machine? Johan

I have a K330 purchased in 2011 with Windows 7.  I upgraded to Windows 10.  Everything worked great for about 4 months.  Then around the end of January 2016, after a shut down and restart, things are not the same.  The left mouse button does nothing when over the "Windows/Start" icon, making it almost impossible to excute the programs on the computer; File Explorer is always "working on it...." and never really ends; and the computer and monitor don't always go to sleep when they should. I love this computer and don't want to have to move to a new one.  Is there ANYTHING I can do to upgrade the components to love and work with Windows 10?  HELP and thanks.

Hi there. According to Lenovo's supported system for Windows 10 upgrade list, I don't see your computer listed here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht103535 However, since you mentioned you had it for 4 months, please try performing a system restore and see if that brings your computer back. : http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/restore-system-files-and-settings
