I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a TV tuner sitting in a Dell dimension e520. The motherboard is toast so I thought I'd salvage the parts and use some for my machine. i.e. the TV tuner.

The TV tuner is a "ATI TVT2 Wonder Elite - Internal Single Analog NTSC TV Tuner"
Here is the link:

I have been unable to find drivers for Vista 64-bit.

I was wondering if this card would work in my system(not a dell) and if so, how do I go about setting it up? My desk is directly beside where the cable internet comes in, but I have a cable line going from the wall to the modem.

A:Dell TV tuner

Might try the TV wonder elite drivers here...........
Should be the right ones.
Selct your operating system, select TV tuner then select
the TV wonder elite.

i recentely brought a dell inspiron 330 (2nd hand) did a CPU upgrade (cpu: Q8300)
now i wanted to use my tv tuner in the dell for mediacenter purposes.
the only problem is, windows does not  really detect it.
the model i have has support for PCI-E X1 tv tuners
the bios does detect (A card), and says that i have to change the video-settings.
i changed them to onboard, so i can boot up the system.
the problem is that i cannot install any drivers for the card using the official DVD's since no drivers are detected.
nor is the card detected under device manager.
specification list:
SSD: 120GB kingston
CPU intel Q8300
ram 3GB official stock ram
tv tuner: http://www.hauppauge.de/site/products/data_hvr5500.html (EU version)
bios: A9 (latest version)
what kind of steps do i have to take to make the TV tuner functional in my dell inspiron 330.

Hello, for some unknown reason everytime I try to view TV on my laptop, my machine give me the blue screen of death and then restarts. I tried the newest version of Cyberlink PowerCinema 5. I will install the program file, set up the channels and everything in the settings menu, but when I click on the atual TV icon, it freezes and restarts. Same thing with Nero 9. I have the latest version and when I try to boot up Nero Live and click actaully try to watch TV it will freeze on me.

Its interesting to note that Television worked fine through Windows Media Center 2005 on my other laptop the Inspiron 9400 using the same Dell Angel USB Tuner. I read somewhere online where new codecs might be at fault, so I uninstalled K-Lite Codec Pack. I also uninstalled my newest video drivers (downloaded from nvidia site) and installed older versions. None of that helped. I then tried to install the drivers dell has listed on their site for video as well as the Ageia Physx drivers and STILL when I try to play TV it freezes on me. The drivers for my TV card seem to be the only ones available. Oh I forgot to mention, I have Windows XP with SP3. I am ripping my hair out here, trying to figure this out. Please help !

Conexant 2388x MPEG Encoder (Dual-Input)
Conexant 23800 Video Capture (Blackbird NTSC Dual-Input)

each time i try to uninstall and reinstall them i get an error.

the software for this device has been blocked from starting because it is known to have problems with Windows. Contact the Hardware vendor for a new driver (Code 48)
This is weird because it worked fine on windows xp, but not windows 7 no drivers for it??? and if not how would i request them to get that driver??

Thank-you very much for the help.

I purchased a 500GB. external drive to store a full backup image on since it doesn't have a second internal drive. My main tower has a second drive which I keep a backup image on and also, use it for paging files and temporary internet files. What I was wondering was could I use the same external drive to store a backup image on? Then I thought about unhooking the second storage/image drive on the one tower or, is the drive worth keeping performance wise, for the paging/temp. internet files reason? Thanks!

A:Externel USB HD Question

Hello p5200,

Yes, you could save a system image from both PCs to the same external HDD if you have enough space on it if you like.

On you main tower, since you have the paging file and temp internet files on it's second drive, both drives will be included with it's system image by default and will take more space on the external HDD.

You're not going to get much performance increase by having the paging file and temp internet files on the second HDD unless it's faster than the drive Windows is installed on. Otherwise, it's mostly to save space on the drive Windows is installed on.

Hope this helps,

I have a Hauppauge WinTv 881 PCI card. I recently loaded Vista business on the pc this card is in. I have downloaded drivers from the Hauppauge UK website that supposedly work. However, it does not work. I get the icons on my desktop for all the wintv applications, but none of the work. They begin loading and eventually wind up unresponding. I am fairly new to Vista, so I'm wondering if I need to be using a media center or some other software and if Vista business is complatible with this.

We (hubby and I) just bought an Acer Desktop, an Aspire e380 ... and it comes with a TV tuner, but as the computer is not finding any tv hardware, even when the cable is plugged in, does that mean we need to download some software? And if so, what would work best? My husband was up till who knows when looking for answers but he isn't exactly a pc programmer, so .... any help you can give would be appreciated immensely, as he wants to return it (and I don't think exchange it!) when he gets home from work today!

ETA: it is equipped w/windows media center, and when I click on the option to configure tv settings, it says "The TV signal cannot be configured because no tuner software has been detected" And I'm on hold w/the Acer tech guy who has been searching for answers for me for like 10 minutes and i'm still holding ... could it be a matter of the cable cord being wacky, or what?

Then I went into Media Center, set up live tv, nothing...

Cannot get live tv working in media center. It only gives me 2 channels (16 and 69), neither of which work. I can hear them, but the screen is complete static.

I know the issue is not the TV Tuner, because I've gotten it working fine in WinTV v7. But I want it to work in Media Center.

Good Morning:
I am working with TV tuners in my desktop computer and have some general questions. I have a Hauppauge 950Q tuner installed that is not working properly (channels are mixed up) but records fine. Hauppauge tech support has been useless in trying to find out why. In any event, Hauppauge records in .ts format and Windows Media Center records in .wtv format. Some of these files I would like to convert to usage on my Ipod Touch which I think would be h.264 codec. I have found an Amerisoft Video Converter program that will convert MPEG files to the M4P (?) format for Ipod usage. However it appears I need to first convert .wtv and .ts files to MPEG format to then convert them to the Ipod format. Is there an easier way to convert these files to Ipod usage so as not to go through so many steps and use two programs (a .wtv to MPEG converter and then a MPEG converter to M4P)? Hauppauge appears to have a record option to convert recordings automatically to MPEG. That could then be converted to M4P?

I do have a Tivo DVR that I use to record some programs. I can easily transfer to my desktop and with one click convert to Ipod format and transfer to the Ipod. However there are times when I need to use the computer to record, rather than the Tivo.

I have ordered a new tuner, An Avermedia Hybrid Volar Max USB tuner that appears to have the capabilty to record directly into h.264 format or convert to it within the program. Has anyone had any experience with this tuner or the me... Read more

Intervideo TV Tuner Software,TV Capture Card WDM TV Tuner=Headache:

Recently purchased HP dx2000 Desktop and run WinXPHome SP2 and vendor installed a TV tuner card for me. I run a 'no-name brand' AC-powered amplified TV antenna via coax into the TV Card and set up software for 'antenna use'. Ten local TV channels come in 'off-air' for free.

When I exit the Intervideo TV Tuner program my computer crashes, then restarts and 'recovers from a serious error". . .I have pics of error messages.
Four times out of five the Tv Tuner package runs perfect. . .then it will crash on program exit again and reboot with error messages.

I would have posted in WMC but this seems to be a hardware issue.
Device manager only shows one Avermedia tuner.
These are identical PCIE cards.
In device manager should it not display 2 Avermedia devices?
It shows the USB vbox 3560 tuner, it shows an Avermedia tuner.

Oddly WMC claims tuner 1 has no signal?
Another TV program only says 2 tuners available, Avermedia tuner 2, Vbox 3560 tuner.

Also If I boot with only one Avermedia PCIE tuner card, either one functions ok.
If I boot with 2 Avermedia PCIE tuner cards, only one Avermedia tuner card functions and windows seems to call it Avermedia tuner 2

So what is happening you think?
Can windows distinguish 2 identical cards and configure them, or is windows getting confused?
Both cards get hot to the touch when both are plugged in together.

Dear community,

maybe you can help. I just made aquisition of a thinkpad yoga S1 (DXdiag here attached) DxDiag TP-Yoga S1.txt

I am very happy with it, except when I want to use an external display with the mini-HDMI-VGA dongle delivered by Lenovo:

The extended desktop on this external display is quite bad quality. This is happening on different external monitors which are very good when attached to my other computer.

What problem can it be? Graphic card? Dongle? driver?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

A:Bad display quality on externel screen / Thinkpad Yoga S1

I'd say the dongle is where you want to start. Have Lenovo send you a new one. You've already demonstrated that it's not the monitor, so that leaves items supplied by Lenovo and you'll have a significantly easier time getting them to agree to send you a dongle that probably costs them very little to produce compared to anything else. Plus it's easier for you to test and the most likely scenario to fix your issue. If there were something wrong with the GPU on the unit, you'd expect it to affect the internal display as well as external and do so equally/uniformly. The driver idea is possible, but highly unlikely, but if there's an updated driver and you want to install it while waiting for a new dongle to show up, knock yourself out.

Hi there. I will just explain my hardware in question before asking my question.

I recently built myself a new RIG and then purchased myself a 42inch monitor;

The monitor does not have a built in TV Tuner. And I am interested in having this monitor stream my cable.

So here is my situation, I currently live in Ontario and have a Cogeco Cable Box, if I were to purchase the "Hauppauge 2250" Tv tuner, would I be able to connect my Cable box to my PC-TV Tuner and also be able to see all my channels as I would from my cable box as if it where connected to a normal TV?

If more information is needed just let me know.

Thank you,

I have a new Acer PC with a YUAN Tuner Card.

When trying to run my digital cable signal through my digital cable box and then out to my PC, I get a garbled signal in Windows Media Center.

When running the cable directly in (without the digital box), I can get the lower channels but of course not the digital ones.

When running the cable through the digital box (as described in scenario one) but into the TV directly instead of the computer, I get all my channels.

I'm trying to figure out why I can't get the digital channels on the PC in WMC.

What can I try?

Ok, so I bough a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-500 TV Tuner card from eBay.

So anyways, I get the TV Tuner Card. Install into the PCI slot on my motherboard and have the input slots showing out the back (obviously). Ok so everything was good on the front.

So I start up the PC (Alienware Desktop, pretty basic), my PC immediately installs the tuner card and everything is successful. But here is where the fun begins. I plug in a Coax cable from my TV Service provider into the TV Tuner card and my USB Mouse and Keyboard both quit working. I unplug, replug, plug into different USB slots, still nothing. So I restart, before I do though I unplug the COAX cable from the back of the tuner card.

So Windows restarts and my PC tries to reinstall the Tuner Card again but this time fails. So now when I right click on "My Computer >> Manage >> Device Manager" to see the devices, I scroll down to the "PCI Standard PCI-to-PCI bridge" and see a warning sign by it, I right click and it says "This Device cannot start (Code 10)".

Please help.

Putting together my "new" home network. I have 3 laptops (Dell Latitude D820 - Win 7 Pro, Dell Latitude D620 - Win XP Pro and Lenovo T400 - Win XP Pro). I have a Lenovo port replicator/dock and a Dell PR01x port rep/dock. I have just bought a new Rosewill RKV-2U USB KVM. With the 2 XP laptops, all works great. But if I dock my Win7 Dell D820 laptop, the video comes up but the keyboard and mouse do not - using the same port rep/dock that the Dell D620 just came off of. I noted the Rosewill KVM port light flashes while "detecting/enabling" the devices when switching to the other port and then go steady when ready to work. But with the D820/Win7 the port light continues to flash. I checked the Rosewill site and they say it's compatible with up to Vista, but doesn't say yay/nay about 7 - so my guess is it SHOULD since it works with Vista. I can't find any info from Dell about Win7 compatibility with their PR01x port rep/dock.

Dell D820 laptop is running Win7 Pro x86, 3GB RAM, BIOS A10 (latest), all drivers up to date, all software (OS, etc) up to date.

Any thoughts or ideas?

I found the fix here. Install Synaptics 19.15.2 Windows 10 64 Bit  even tough you have Windows 8.1.
Install like this:
1) Extract the files to another folder
2) Open the folder with extracted files copy the path of the x64 drivers
3) Go to Control Panel>Device Manager>Mice and other pointing devices
4) Right click mice and other pointing devices, select Update Driver>From Hard-Disk
5) Add the x64 drivers path
6) Select Dell Touchpad
7)  Install drivers
8) Restart

As the subject suggests, I have a Dell Precision M3800.  I have always used dual monitor with no issue.
My previous screen was an old Samsung 23 Inch (don't know the model exactly) and connected via Mini DP to HDMI.  Worked a dream.
Manage to find a buyer and though - "Let me upgrade - get a Dell Monitor - Dell plays well with Dell".
So got the Dell E2416H Monitor - with a Min DP to DP cable - for the past month I have not been able to fix an issue where by the screen does not refresh itself when you type or a sql comand finishes processing - just looks like it's still process even though it completed minutes ago - but the screen did not refresh the basics of what a monitor should display.
This is such an irritating that I have even gone to the extent of buying a USB 3 docking station and running through DisplayLink - with joy.

Please help me out.

A:My Dell inspiron 3542 laptop speakers are not working, but 3.5 mm jack is working fine.

Hello. The problem could be either in the hardware or the software, so you need to test each. Perform the tests below -- it doesn't matter which one you do first.

To test the speakers, perform the Quick Audio Check in the ePSA test. If the speakers fail the test then they have failed or become disconnected. (Click the link for instructions on how to run the test.)

To test the software, switch between the Realtek audio driver and the Windows native driver. [This test assumes that your laptop has the Realtek audio driver. If you get to step 2 and do not see "Realtek High Definition Audio" then go to the Dell support page for your model and download the Realtek driver that Dell provides for the version of Windows that the laptop is running.]
1. Open the Device Manager (find it in the Control Panel, or type devmgmt.msc into the search box).2. Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" and right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".3. Select to "Update Driver Software".4. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".5. Click "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".6. Put a check in the box "Show compatible hardware" if not already checked.7. In the list of devices, click "High Definition Audio" (the native driver).8. Click "Next".9. On the Update Driver Warning box, click "Yes" (install the driver). 10. Restart the laptop if prompted. If not prompted,... Read more

Hello everyone,
Okay so I have this Dell XPS L502X Laptop which I purchased in 2012. The Laptop came with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Edition.
Earlier its HDMI output to my Sony LED used to work fine.
But few months ago, as offered by Microsoft, I upgraded my Laptop OS from Windows 7 Home edition to Windows 10 home edition.  Since upgrade everything has worked just fine except, I do not receive HDMI output to my television.
I have tried searching for online solutions but not sure what could be the problem? Can someone please guide me in right direction?
Thank you.

We have got a problem to open Office files in
Word through our Externel net (sharepoint2010 server) after an
secutityupdate for IE11 at 8-9
September 2015. We checked that
it was KB3087038 who caused it.

We work with office web apps and from there
we'll be able to open up in
read-only mode / edit mode, but then
the error message below. If we click
OK and let  Word be left opened
the document opens correclty.

The error message that comes is as follows: "The operation
has been canceled due to restrictions in the computer.
Contact your system administrator."

It works with IE10. We have an
ADFS server between SharePoint Server
(Externel net) and the client that
it should open on. Seems that
the key does not comply with the
first session but then when there is an established
Connection, it works.
Is it IE11 or could it be a certificate problem at the ADFS server(ticket server)?

Hope someone understands this!

I've a DELL INSPIRON ONE 2020 All-In-One PC (purchased on 15th April, 2013). I installed the Insider's Build of Windows 10 x64 about 2 months ago. I wasn't satisfied with it's performance, so I decided to reinstall Windows 8 in it (which came preinstalled as OEM when I purchased the PC). But unfortunately (for me), the DELL BACKUP AND RECOVERY software which I discretely installed in it failed to apply the factory image with error somewhat stating, "DBAR failed to apply the image". Also, the Dell Backup and Recovery is not even available in the Bootup Recovery mode and not even if I press F8 or other function keys. I googled and found methods to apply the image using ImageX tool in boot mode. I put the hotfix KB2525084 (actually the ImageX tool) in my Pendrive and in the recovery mode, I used Command Prompt and typed the follwing command:
j:\imagex /apply f:\DELL\Image\PART0001\EFI.wim 1 c:\
where j:\ is my pendrive ; f:\ was the partition with .wim image in it ; c:\ was the OS path to be recovered.
It completed in just 4 seconds! But other websites stated that it would take around 15-20 minutes to complete applying the image. I understood that something is fishy, and I was right! The PC didn't boot again. Also the apllied image showed just somewhat 250mb of data, but my hard disk (named PBR Image) was of around 9gb in size. The swm files in it (2 in nos.) were around 4gb each. I looked another forum and that stated to format the C:\ drive. I... Read more

Everything was working a couple days ago, now my touchpad doesn't work. It still works in the BIOS diagnostics but not in Windows 10 or Windows 8. I tried Windows 7 and the touchpad instantly starts working but whenever I switch back to Windows 8 or 10 it stops again.
Can someone link me to restore media or any links which could help?? Maybe I need a certain driver?
