Computer stuttering in games and videos and while writing or scrolling

Q: Computer stuttering in games and videos and while writing or scrolling

I am at a loss to what the cause of this is.

I will will be playing team fortress 2 and for about half an hour the game is fine then all of a sudden it starts stuttering madly every time it has to access the HD. It will not cease once it has started and the game becomes unplayable.

Also if I am playing streaming videos online the video will pause while the audio continues and then jump to the correct point again after a few seconds. This will happen a cpl times every minute.

Also when typing in boxes like this the words will freeze for a few seconds before spewing out in a big chunk. Also when scrolling a webpage the same thing happens. I will scroll and it locks up then I keep scrolling and the computer beep noise sounds from the mobo then it unclogs again.

I have now tried reinstallling windows several different times with two different windows versions and also on two different hard drives and still no change.

I didn't have this problem before but I had to reinstall windows cos it was screwing up for other reasons. Now that is fixed (fingers crossed) this thing has cropped up.

I require some new input as I've tried all the variables I can think of at the moment.

Another problem which is stopping me from trying the graphics card is that I tried updating the drivers but when I pick the new drivers they lockup youtube videos and cause a reset. I've tried it with several different versions of catalyst and each time the same problem .

I have a radeon hd4650. My default catalyst drivers I got with the card pick '4600' series as the correct drivers. Now with the new catalysts they have the option of 4600 series as well as 4650 (my box clearly says it is a 4650). So when I try the 4650's it appears to work in games but does the reset thing every time with youtube vids. When I try and pick the 4600 series from the new drivers the driver appears to be the same version as my OLD driver when checking in the display thing .

I thought it was maybe something to do with HD but if I installed on two diff HDs I don't see how it could be that. Also two diff versions of windows, fresh installs and exactly the same thing.

Maybe it could be a graphics problem but if the drivers don't work what can I do?

Any other ideas?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

For the record I now how a legit copy of Windows XP which I've just done a fresh install and updated up to SP3.

I will be playing team fortress 2 and suddenly get several second stutters like the HD is chugging or something. It specifically happens when there is some action on the screen.

It also happens when I am watching steaming video. The video will stop for a couple of seconds while the audio continues and when the vid starts again it jumps to meet the audio.

Also when I am scrolling down with the mouse it will get jammed for a second or two then jump down.

Another thing I just noticed while writing this is when I type that too will jam for several seconds then jump.

What's going on here?

Like I say fresh install and it didn't happen before on my previous install. My drivers are all updated (all the common ones).

Hi I just recieved a new custom built computer from Cyberpowerpc. I installed the newest drivers for everything but for some reason when I scroll to fast on a web page, watch videos at full screen, attempt to play a game or even when I am trying to open a program my computer screen becomes distorted with pink and green lines and my mouse and keyboard are unresponsive and sound dies within 10 seconds. If I wait for a good 10 minutes sometimes my computer will restart. If anyone has any advice what so ever it will be greatly appreciated because I am ready to take out my graphics card and use the on board one. If you need any information i will be more then happy to give it to you.

After my computer did its usual updates, I've noticed a sound issue whenever I've been trying to play games/watch videos. At regular intervals the audio will freeze/skip for a second and make a loud grinding noise, then resume. This happens with music, streaming videos, games, pretty much everything. If I'm watching a video or playing a game, the screen will freeze for a second, then resume.

I'm using a Dell Inspiron N4110 laptop with Windows 7

I assume I need to install a new driver or something, but I am pretty computer illiterate and don't exactly know what I need/where I need to get it from/how to figure out what I need.

Was hoping someone could help here.

A:Audio buzzing/stuttering during videos/games

Since the screen will "freeze", suggests the sound problems are just a result of whatever is causing the PC to hang up and not directly a sound problem. Thus another forum section would be more applicable than the sound section.

You can run the Resplendence Latency Mon program and that may help, if you can figure it out as it gives you "information overload".

My old laptop has been having a stuttering problem with games for a couple of years now. It?ll stutter for around five seconds, run smooth for around ten seconds, stutter again for five, run smooth for ten. It?ll keep doing that until I stop playing and close the game. It doesn?t start doing the stutter the second I start the game, it?ll start maybe around five minutes into the game and not quit its pattern. It doesn?t matter what game, how old it is, it does this to all.

It also does this while watching online videos. I can?t watch anything on, for example, Hulu, or Gametrailers, without it doing the same stutter pattern.

I didn?t always have this annoyance. It started little over a year after I bought my laptop. During all this time, while putting up with the problem, I?ve done several clean installs. I?ve tried to solve this myself, but never could find anyone with the same exact problem.

I?ve uploaded several videos that show the stutter problem:

Also, here's my hardware & processes:

Any help will definitely be appreciated, thank you.

Well, 761 MHz processor speed is way too slow for any modern games. You can check go to Start/Run and type chkdsk C: /R and press enter. The command prompt box appears, press Y and reboot the computer. The Check Disk Utility will check the integrity of the drive. You can also click on the PC Running Slow? link in my signature and try those things. Other then that, you need a faster computer.

Sorry about the title, I don't know what to say.

When playing any game or watching any video (on hard drive, dvd or streaming) or playing any game (2d simple, 3d intensive) my computer gets lag spikes and stutters, the sound kind of freezes every time it pauses.

My PC has never had this problem before, it started a couple of days ago.

My graphics card drivers are up to date and I have no idea what to do.

Hi Everyone! please help!
Every time I turn my computer on (after it was completely off) again which I do a lot as this laptop is so fast to turn off and on, the video streaming does not work.
So after I turn on I go to the bbc, Facebook, youtube, or other streaming sites the video loads and I can click play though it does not actually play, just a still image. same on every website. so to fix this I have to restart the computer, then it works. So for some reason turning the computer off causes this and restarting it fixes it - seems strange to me though more irritating
Second issue is that again online streaming videos stutter all websites all browsers (chrome internet explorer etc.). I have fixed this though by setting Nvidia to be used for the browsers instead of intel. Though this solution uses more power and might be related to the other problem.
This problem has been here since I got the laptop in December 2015, have updated to all the latest drivers bios, applications etc. What else can I do ???

Any help with the videos not playing would be greatly appreciated it is so annoying to turn on the computer go to websites then find you can't play the videos, then remembering you have to restart.

How are you shutting it down? If you use the standard "Start Menu" > "Power" > "Shutdown", it does not completely shut it down. It saves part of memory in a hibernation file which allows it to quickly restart. This could cause issues when you start up again. If you have not tried this, set up a desktop shortcut (right-click on an empty spot on the desktop, select "New" > "Shortcut" and enter "shutdown /s /t 0" in the box (that's "shutdown" + space + forward slash+"s" + space + forward slash+"t" + space + "0" [the number zero]) without the quotes. Click "Next" and give the shortcut a name, then "OK". This will shut the computer down completely.
The other option is to disable "Fast Startup". That should accomplish the same thing. See if either of these help.

Hi there, I am new here, I have searched the net for an answer to my problem but have been unsuccessful so have decided to post here...

My computer starts stuttering (audio and video) for about 20 seconds every 2-3minutes when I play microsoft flight simulator 2004 which is highly frustrating. It runs fine on 24frames/sec (which I have locked it at) then it goes to 1-3frames for about 20seconds then returns and is fine for 2-3mins. This is a recent problem, I run it on a reasonably capable laptop, it worked perfectly fine for 9months, and it has been like this for the past few weeks.

I've opened the task manager during the stuttering fit and the CPU was running at 98%-100% then after dropped to around 30%.

Specs: Laptop, AMD Turion x2 2.2Ghz, ATI Radeon HD3200, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD

Hope that is comprehensive enough info, I'm not great with computers, but I can't think it is a hardware problem as it worked fine for a good 9months.

Thank you all in advance

i using my brothers computer so its new, and its apartently a 64bit xp. i also cant get itunes working, apartently they dont do a 64bit version for xp, which sucks. do u know how i could itunes on here? Im not fussed if i dont get the latest version either...

A:scrolling stuttering

Hi, welcome to TSF

The slow scrolling problem could be due to the graphics driver needing to be updated or some other process running in the background that is using the CPU or GPU heavily. What graphics card do you have?

For example, I run the GPU client for a program called [email protected] It runs in the background and doesn't slow the computer down, except for vertical scrolling in the browser, where I get the same problem as you.

Copy a large block of text into Notepad, then use the mouse wheel to scroll down for a few seconds. Does it lag in the same way as your browser pages? Try again using the up and down cursor keys. Does it still lag?

What other programs do you have running other than Firefox?

If iTunes is not available for 64bit XP, try another media player like WinAmp. Do you need the shopping and iPod syncing features of iTunes or do you just need an audio player?

When i play videos through windows media playe 11 or play online games like Vanguard at various times my sound appears to stutter then the screen freezes for a second then i get the blue screen saying an unrecoverable hardware error has happend and my comp reboots. Ive been emailing dell every day for 3 weeks now and they still have no answer for me. if i disable my sound device i can play video and play vanguard with no problem but as soon as i use sound i get the blue screen. My hunch is a compatibility issue with windows vista. Dell has replaced my video card and i still get it and ive downloaded current drivers for my vid card and sound card and used the windows update for any critical and security updates out there. Ive restored my comp to factory settings 5 times as per request of dell tech guys, and ive uninstalled the sound device then reinstalled it.
But im sites like Youtube i have no problem running there media player.
My system specs are as follows

dell dimension E520
intel core duo processors 2.13ghz, 2.13 ghz
2 gigs of ram
windows vista 64
ATI radeon 1300 pro 256 mb video card
sigmatel high definition audio CODEC

This comp is brand new fresh out of the box and my old system plays video and games just fine with windows XP

Hello. I recently formatted my computer since the harddrives started to fill up quite good. And I thought it would be nice to have a fresh install again.
But now I kinda regret it...

I'm gonna give you as much info as I can here, so the post might get a bit long.

Here are my system specs directly from dxdiag:

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.8GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680
Complete DxDiag uploaded.

So I put in my windows 7 installation disk and restarted the computer. Then I completely cleaned the harddrives and istalled it. But after I had installed several updates from Windows Update and installing drivers I went on to youtube to watch a few videos.
But a few minutes in the computer completely froze until it recovered again after about 30 seconds.

I decided to look in the Task Manager to see the Processor usage, and every time it freezes all the cores spike up to 100%.
Sorry for it being in Swedish, but you can compare it to your own if you need to.

So these are the things I have done to try and fix it:
1. Defragment all the harddrives
2. Use a cmd command called "sfc /scannow" to scan for errors
3. Use the installation disks repair tool
4. Right click on the video and stop hardware acceleration(maybe poorly translated, I use chrome)
5. Go into windows safe-mode with internet. Worked perfectly there.
6. Run benchm... Read more

Ok, this all started when I had windows vista on my desktop computer Acer Aspire AM1641-U1521A, it was great everything was running smoothly, I was happy, but then after my mom put a password on the computer then forgot it, afterwards we got a restaurant and she moved all the internet connection to there. Since their was a tech support near by we took our password protected computer to him, then when we got it back he deleted everything and put it to windows 7, everything seemed ok until we got internet back at the house, now I downloadeded all my Mmos and played on one of them, S4 league, the FPS rate was so low and I did not know why. It wasn't the connection, I am using comcast atm. After a bit of messing around I found that the coprocessor in the Device manager had a yellow triangle on it, I tried clicking on it then the computer tried to instal new softwar but did not then it sent me to this, and the download was in this link, http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windo...ce_winvista_win7_32bit_international_whql.exe
I did it and it downloaded 4 drivers for nvidia, one of them was ethernet I recall, but after that everything was worse, the computer was slowing down a little with choppy mouse movement, and when I go on youtube videos, anything over 240-360p would cause major video lag and I think my Mmo frame rate got worse (And maybe download speed but I don't care that much). Hello all. I have been having the same problems with my desktop (a Frankenstein's monster of different parts first put together with assistance at the closest Frys store) that have spanned at least a few years. I've needed it for college and it mostly works for what I need it to do so I left it like this but would now like to once and for all solve the problem.

I'm running Windows 7 with a MSI mainboard, AMD FX-4100 CPU, 4 Gigs of RAM, currently connected to a ATI Radeon Graphics card connected to a cheap, old HP Pavilion mx50 monitor.

Okay, so the symptoms. Originally, when my computer was left to idle the monitor would shut down as monitors usually will but along with the monitor the whole system would be in a coma that I couldn't even use the off button to stop. I had to push the switch on the back to turn it off. Now it can idle for at least thirty minutes, but I think if left for an hour or two it does the same thing. Unfortunately I forgot how I managed to improve this problem.

The second problem still happens and is my major concern. When running certain functions the computer will either do the same as above or it will crash and immediately turn off the whole system. I can watch DVDs without problems for several hours and mp4s for at least twenty minutes but if I watch for longer, play Minecraft, or even watch Youtube for a significant portion of time it will crash. When it crashes like this I will usually need to wait for around ten to fifteen ... Read more

I've had this problem for about 3 years. I've replaced so many parts and i'm still getting the same problem.

so basically, during games or streaming videos, my computer might freeze sometimes.
Its a custom built computer from 6 years ago. Here's some specs.
Windows7 Ultimate 32x
AMD athlon 64 x2 dual core 6000+ 3.00ghz
4.00 gb memory (only 3.5 is usable because of 32x)
Nvidia GeForce 7900 GS

Okay so basically, the games i'm playing do not even take high end stuff to begin with (Heroes of Newerth / Left 4 dead 2 / Starcraft2)

And sometimes, it randomly freezes, the only way to turn it back on is hold down the power button to turn if off and turn it on again.

I have replaced the PSU 3x already (its a corsair 650w now. My first PSU that came with the computer was a thermaltake 500w did not even have problems unitl after 2 years.)

I have gotten more ram. (i started at 2gb and now i'm at 4gb)
I have ran many scans and everything seems to be alright but my computer still freezes.

And i have gotten more fans cause i thought it wasn't cool enough.

But i discovered something. Is it possible that my computer isn't getting enough energy from the outlet? Here is a speedfan picture

My temp is normal and never ever goes past 81c even while playing and is 60c at idle.

But the voltage on the 12v line is REALLY disturbing me. Is it possible that, that is the problem?
And sometimes it alternates between 7.44v and 9.50v but it never goes higher than... Read more

A:Computer Freezes during games or streaming videos

Hi Icehism,

Any number of faults could cause this issue, the PSU might not output the power it needs, drivers can stop working, devices can stop responding due to hardware/software faults, it can basicly be anything.

I would recommend you to take a look in the eventlog (Start > Search > eventvwr.msc > Hit enter) under the systems log (and the other ones aswell for that matter) and see if you find any reoccuring faults at all, if so, paste them here. And also check around the time it last happened, see if any error reports were made.

If you don't feel comfortable doing that, you could export the log and attach it to your next post for us to look at.

As the title suggests just about any game will crash. I have managed to work around this by playing in windowed mode which works for some games like saints row 4, but not for dota 2 (dota will crash no matter what I do). Also, netflix will crash the computer if I play the movies in full screen mode.
I've tried a lot of different things and sometimes when I keep my computer on for long periods of time (close to a week) saints row 4 will work just fine in full screen, but then I'll go to watch an anime in full screen (streaming) and the computer will crash. After that it will crash to almost anything that's full screen. Oddly enough I can watch twitch in full screen just fine.....
Totally perplexed......

Hello guys!

I'm having some major problems with my computer. I was playing a game (stronghold kingdoms), opened a battle report to see the battle, and my computer froze.Mouse wouldn't move, ctrl+alt+delete wouldn't work.
Only solution was the reset button. When i reset the computer same thing happened when i tried opening the game. I tried it many times, always the same thing. Computer froze. First thing i thought that it had overheated (was running for about 14 hours straight, and it is an old pc) , so i left it for a few hours to cool down. After i came back, i opened a movie, and the computer froze. Not right away, after a few seconds. I tried again, the computer would always freeze, some times not at the same point, but it would freeze at some point. (most of the times when a scene changed or i forwarded the movie.)
At some point, computer would freeze most of the times at the windows loading screen.
Tried restroring the computer a few days back, nothing changed.
Installed an anti-crash program, still nothing, scanned disk for errors, nothing.
Opened the computer in safe mode, still froze at some point.
I tried restoring the computer 2 months back, but the computer froze when 1/5 of the process was left. When i rebooted the computer, it would not go past the Ai Series screen where it froze (the screen before the windows loading screen).

Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

Sorry for the long post

Hello, and welcome to the forum. First off, a common problem is the PSU being underpowered for the hardware you have in your system. If it was a custom built or you built it, i would advise you to post your hardware in the PSU section and see see what they think, also do this if you upgraded any part of your computer recently. If it was a store bought (dell, hp, ibm, etc.) then you should not have this problem. If this does not work out then you can also try to go to the HiJackThis section and post a log (intructions are posted there).

Can you see the POST screen / BIOS prior to loading Windows? Or is there no signal at all?

If you can see POST / BIOS but lose signal as Windows loads - then that's interesting, as the recovery/safe mode uses the generic VGA driver.

The fact that the PC kept freezing coupled with the loss of signal suggests that either the card, or power supply may be faulty.

This is driving me crazy. Every YouTube vid moves inside the window like someone behind the camera is shaking it violently. The motion distorts into mosaic-like pixelation. I have noticed that this happens only when there is actual motion in the video.
For example, if someone is moving. If there is a still shot of the person, or if just a bunch of text is shown, no stuttering occurs.
And, if I move my cursor constantly inside the vid while it plays, the stuttering stops, but I can't continuously do that!
We're talking about a Windows 7 Fujitsu on Firefox with the latest updates. It's on a university server in Japan, hardwire connected, not wifi.

Since I purchased my computer two years ago, I've been having problems with the occasional crash when playing games. Over the past couple of months, the problem has been getting a lot worse, and my computer will crash/hang constantly when playing anything, including WOW, Rome: Total War, and Civilization IV. In addition to that, watching videos online, as well as on Windows Media Player also can result in crashes. I've even experienced full hangs when opening Microsoft Word or burning a DVD.

I've done a full MEMTEST and it found no errors. In addition to that, I believe my video and sound drivers are fully updated, and I've even tried plugging in a new graphic's card with no success. I have also cleaned out the dust from the inside of my computer. When I first experienced this problem, I formatted my computer and reinstalled everything, which also did not help solve my problem.

I have a
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU

2GB of Ram
Video Card: Radeon X800 XT
Sound: SoundMAX Intergrated Digital HD Audio

Thanks for any help that you can give me.

This has been going on for a couple weeks now. Playing games on Facebook or watching videos on You Tube my computer will stall (like I was hitting the PAUSE button) just for 5-10 seconds and things will go on as normal. It happens every 20-40 minutes, just enough to interrupt the games I'm playing or the YouTube video I'm watching. (I run Avast for Security and Advanced System Care 7 for Malware) I' do routine maintenance often enough where I have no idea where, how or why?? Other function like writing a letter or email is fine without problems. I am running Vista Home Premium on my 5 year old Dell XPS 420. I am not a big gamer by any means. Most of the games I play are contained on Facebook. I am more the Music and Photo bug, all of which I have stored on my External Hard Drive. Oh, yeah, I also a Video bug and am always om YouTube checking out what' what. Someone, please HELP!! Any other questions I haven't addressed please let me know.

This is something that I've been having trouble with for a couple months now, but recently I've noticed it happening more often. The problem is essentially me playing games or watching videos and having the sound, video and mouse completely freeze up. I then have to hard restart the computer, and sometimes my wireless connection will not work as well and I'll have to restart the computer again to make the WiFi work. I'm running Windows 7 SP1 on Bootcamp on a Macbrook Pro that I bought in 2009 I believe. Not sure if it is malware or something else that is causing the problem. Hopefully Tech Support can help me out here. If there's anything else you need from me before you can help me, please let me know. My Hijack Log, dds.txt and attach.txt are as follows:

i have had this problem for a while. i use media player classic, part of the k-lite codec pack. whenever i play a video within 10-20 mins the video starts to stutter, slowing down before completely stopping as if it had been paused. i have tried watching in windows media player also, the same thing happens.

i am using Catalyst 9.12 drivers.

i had this problem with my old video card (GeForce 8800GTS) too.

i have done some googling and other people have had this problem, for some it was their drivers. others have had success with changing the output settings under DirectShow Video in media player classic. i have tried that, but it still happens, so i am thinking it is definitely a driver issue.

has anyone else had this problem? and if so how were u able to solve it?

A:media players stuttering and/or freezing videos

Have you tried an alternative to WMP or Classic?
Jet Player or VLC?
The Jet Player seems to play almost anything that WMP won't, and it's got all the extra's like BBE and equalizer settings. ( see if you still have the same problems with Jet)

Sometime recently my Edge browser began an odd thing: When there was a video at the top of a page (such as a news story) the video window follows the page as I scroll down. This is extremely annoying on my laptop, but especially so on my tablet because
it takes most of the window away from reading the story.
This began after one of the updates (in the last 6-8 weeks).  At first I thought it may be Edge, but the same issue happens (albeit differently) in Firefox. So I am assuming it is a Win 10 "feature."
I have had my issues with Edge - most notably it simply freezing up every 3-5 minutes, but this is a significant issue that makes the browser nearly useless.  I switched to Firefox for this (and other) reasons, but it is happening with it too now.
What the [email protected]#$%^& is this? Why does Microsoft think forcibly blocking out 90% of the screen with a video window is a good idea?  And, how (or can) I stop it?

I have tried on another forum getting answers to my problem with my new purchase.

Just acquired my first win 8 laptop. I had a loaner win 8 and hated everything between the computer and OS. I really like this Lenovo but im still having issues with win 8. Mainly this computer and the rental one seems very bogged down. Everything from social media or streaming etc even scrolling down this forum page has such a Lag or delay. Is this typical for win 8, can i do anything about this?

the lag is a delay. everytime I would scroll down a page it would have a delay, or if i stream a video (I use chromecast) it is delayed and choppy. My Win 7 Laptop had zero issues like these.

PC SPEC (specInfo)
CPU: AMD E1-2100 APU with Radeon(TM) HD Graphics
MB: LENOVO (Lenovo G505)

GPU: AMD Radeon HD 8210
Sound: Conexant SmartAudio HD
OS: Windows 8.1 (9600)

Everything you mention is internet or browser related. Whats your internet like? have you tried more than one browser?

Hey everyone!
I'm new here so sorry if this is the wrong section or something. Basically I'm having stuttering issues within some games. I noticed this when I first installed Mirrors edge. Every 10 seconds or so the game will freeze for half a second. It gets worse as I play on and is eventually happening every few seconds. I thought it was a problem with this game alone until I downloaded Dead Space 3 and the same thing happened.

Here are my main specs:
Intel i7 2600
Gigabyte GTX 580
8gb of RAM
Gigabyte z68-xp-ud3
750w power supply

If anybody could suggest some ways to fix this that would be great.

Thanks in advance!

I have recently encountered the same problem on my computer as of yesterday. Playing ESO i used to play on high settings no problems, now am on medium and it stuttering with my fps still at 80-100.

Was playing yesterday my keyboard starting being glitchy, restarted computer and keystrokes would not read but other things like caps lock would. I restored to factory settings using on screen keyboard, then when windows reloaded I could not even put keystrokes in to enter my computer name for setup. Magically it worked out of the blue out of many restarts etc. I have now reset to factory settings, cleared ram, disabled fw, ran superantispyware and clear, nothing running in background, drivers are up to date.

No idea what is going on, any help would be awesome. Seems the stutter gets worse the longer i play.

Sounds like a hardware or heat related issue. My first thought would be the power supply.

You should be able to check the voltages in the BIOS (unless Dell locked that page).

Hi everyone,

I have a REALLY annoying problem with my PC.

When I play computer games I will get frequent half second pauses/stutters. It happens every 10 seconds or so, and i'm not certain but i THINK it's when a game plays a sound file.

What makes it all the more strange is that when i played the Guild Wars 2 beta it didn't happen AT ALL, yet on games like League of Legends and Guild Wars 1 it happens non-stop.

I have tried alot of different ideas that i've found on various gaming tech-help forums over the past few months; i've updated my audio and video drivers, I've parked and unparked CPUs, i've allocated a game to a specific CPU, i've reinstalled directx, i've made sure windows updates are all up to date, i've checked the temperature of my PC, etc.

Does anybody have ANY idea what might be causing this? I've never updated my BIOS because I can't find out how to do it, where to do it, or even if to do it. I got the PC second hand a year ago.

I get used to it after a while, but when my boyfriend is at work I play on his PC, and then coming back to mine in the evening just annoys me!
