Can't load Facebook page but other sites are working good.

Q: Can't load Facebook page but other sites are working good.

I go to Facebook I get an SSL error saying that I have actually reached a server identifying itself as a248.e.akamai.net. It gives me the option to proceed anyway, but when I do I get an "Invalid URL" message. I have tried to flush the dns by typing in ipconfig /flushdns in cmd box. All my browsers are having the same problems too. Hope there is a solution to fix it. Thank you.

Preferred Solution: Can't load Facebook page but other sites are working good.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I've just set up a new internet account (adsl2+) but am having trouble browsing the internet. I use Firefox 3.6 (I'm getting the same problems in IE as well). Certain sites, like facebook, gmail, gumtree and tech support forum (I'm using another computer to write this) won't load or, if they do, won't work properly. I've noticed if I delete the cache, cookies etc gmail and facebook will load initially but then stop working. There also seems to be a problem with Adobe Flash player - I can't watch the videos on the Fifa website (although youtube does seem to work). I've tried updating Firefox, Flash and Java and have tried running Firefox and IE in safe mode but this doesn't have any effect. From a google search it seems this is not an uncommon problem, but I can't seem to find any solutions. I'm wondering if the problem is a software problem (maybe a virus), a problem with my routers settings or something to do with my ISP. My flatmates computer seems to work fine though, which suggests its a problem with my computer.

I would be very grateful for any help you can provide!

A:Firefox won't load particular sites: TechSupport, Facebook, Gmail.

I should add, both IE and Firefox get stuck on 'transferring files' and interactive elements within these sites are inoperable.

Thanks

I know there have been other threads on this topic, however, I have read them and tried all of their solutions to no avail.

This problem started when I switched to Comcast service. Our setup is now a Comcast modem, hooked up to a netgear wireless router. I figure the problem has to be there somewhere.

I can access any other web page just fine. I can connect to fb momentarily at random times throughout the day, no more than 5 minutes, and this issue occurs on all of my computers. Here's the odd thing...when I cannot access the fb homepage I also cannot use fb to sign in to any other social apps like twitter, smugmug, etc. and the facebook widget on my website pulls up blank as well, showing a cannot connect error.

I've gone to the sites to check if the site was down for everyone, and was assured it was only me.

I've tried accessing it over https

I've checked for a firewall blockage and for a blocked/restricted sites entry

I've cleared the cache/cookies, flushed the DNS, restarted all the devices and routers.

I've edited the hosts file and tried deleting the hosts file.

I've set my MTU at 1400 and synchronized my clock.

That accounts for all the solutions I could find online. They have all failed for me.

For whatever reason this website seems to want to randomly refuse to connect. It's most vexing.
Any help would be appreciated

Two days ago, we had a two second blackout. Afterward, my tablet and TV could connect to the internet fine, but my phone (Android) wouldn't load other than Google and Facebook. I let it sit until the morning, when it did work again. My laptop (which I didn't check the night before) was also working. But then sometime in the afternoon it developed the same problem as my phone right after the blackout. I disconnected and reconnected the router/modem, and my phone stopped working again, too. A few hours later, my phone finally worked again, but it's now the next morning and my laptop still won't. I ran the diagnostics and it says, "Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings." I know like next to no computer terminology, so I have no idea what to do with that information. It's a wireless connection. My tablet and my TV haven't had any problems connecting.

Hey everybody. Hoping to find some technical guidance here. Here are the details of my problem:

Obviously, Facebook is the only webpage that will not load. I have tried it in all 3 of my browers (chrome, firefox, and IE) and every time I get the webpage is not available message as if the site is down or something. I get a not working ratio of about 80%. I don't know what makes it do it. But for example, I tried for a good 5 minutes to get FB to load with no success just now. I created my account on this forum and now FB works in chrome (the browser I've been using just now), but FB still does not work in Firefox. My cell phone will still load FB 100% of the time connected to the same internet source (a Verizon Mifi Jetpack provided by my employer). I hooked up my computer to a friends internet and FB worked without flaw on all of my browsers. My work computer also has the same problem with FB when connected to the Mifi.

So, all of this makes me want to say there is some problem with the Verizon Mifi Jetpack, but then my cell phone works 100% of the time on FB using the Mifi. Super confusing. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi. I've been experiencing this problem for about a week and a half now, and I've gone on just about every Facebook/computer help forum imaginable, and I still cannot get any answers.

Due to various reasons, I would like to change my Facebook password. However, every time I click on my Account Settings tab, the page itself will not load. It displays a loading icon for about 30 seconds, then the page turns up blank. I have tried accessing this page using two different computers, and three different browsers (Google Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer). I have also tried accessing it through my Android phone, my iPod touch, and my iPad. It will not load on any of these devices/browsers. Everything else on my Facebook will load perfectly fine, including the privacy settings page. It is just the account settings that will not. And it's very frustrating, because even if I wanted to delete my Facebook, I do not have the freedom to do so.

I doubt that this is a computer problem, and I'm assuming it has to do with Facebook. But I will still list my computer details below.
I just don't know what to do, or if I should wait, because if this is an issue due to Facebook, wouldn't they have it resolved by now?

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I really hope that you can help me to determine what is going on.

A:My Facebook account settings page will not load? Please help!

You will not find this very encouraging; I've had the same problem for over a year. I cannot get the Accts Settings page to load properly. It seems to load in html, but the hyperlinks either don't work, or they are displayed so far to the right that they are not entirely visible. Worse than that: I contacted FB Help and requested they "permanently delete" my account, not just "deactivate." They emailed me that the deletion was done. That was 12/2010.

In 11/2011 a friend told me: Facebook deletes nothing. Unnerved and curious, I tried logging on my old FB acct. The account still exists. I've emailed FB, but have received no appropriate responses. (They sent me a "welcome back" email. Oy vey.) I hope you find a solution, or if I do, I'll let you know. Your's is the first posting in any online forum I've seen that deals with the Accts Settings page not loading.

A:my facebook page on IE doesn't fully load

Couple of things you can try. Sometimes malware can cause problems for IE. Run a full updated scan using your installed anti-virus suite. No AV product is 100% effective 100% of the time (if there was such a thing we'd all be using it.) So I'd also run a couple of free on-demand scanners. The more scans you run that come back "no malware found" the more likely it is your computer is malware free.

Malwarebytes

ESET Online Scanner

SuperAntispyware

HitmanPro

Once you're reasonably sure your computer is malware free you could try resetting IE9 to its default settings.

Internet Explorer - Reset

If still no joy I'd check for any damaged or corrupt system files that might be interfering with IE. Run a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems are found, run the scan 3 times and reboot the computer after each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

If you're still having problems this Microsoft article has some additional suggestions including how to completely uninstall/reinstall IE9.

How to reinstall or repair Internet Explorer in Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP

Hey all,

I found this forum doing a Google search for some computer help - I'm hoping someone here might have some ideas regarding a problem I've encountered.

Over the last couple of days, I've noticed that certain web pages are loading very slowly on my desktop, or not at all. Some pages work great, while others won't even show up at all until I refresh them several times. I've tried to notice a pattern, and it's possible that secure page (https) and/or pages with forms are giving my computer the most trouble, but I can't be positive. Some more details:

This phenomenon is occurring in both Firefox 3.0.10 and IE 7.

My computer is running XP and I connect through a wireless router. I use McAfee SecurityCenter.

I have made two changes to my home setup recently...

1. I moved my router from the floor to the top of a bookshelf, which has greatly increased my supposed connection speed to about 50Mbps.

2. I set up a wireless printer on my network.

That's really all I can think of to say about the issue at the moment. Do these clues help illuminate what might be going on?

Thanks so much for any help!

Ben

A:Facebook Is not working on my computer but i can go to other sites

What version or type of internet browser are you using? If you are using IE 5.5 and higher, I would start off by deleting the temp records and empty the cache from your computer. I've been using Facebook for a few years and on 15 different computers and have had no problems with 4 different browsers. Also try to ping it. it seems that it just might, just might be a problem with your router/modem system. my 2 wire will occasionally show a bad gateway or a poor connection.

Check it out and keep up posted!

I'm running a lan with internet provided through ics. Internet comes through a computer in XP environment. Two other boxes on the lan, both running Vista.

One box, HP Pavillion, can do anything it wants on the 'net. Ditto on the XP. However, the other box, a Compaq Presario, can only bring up low-load pages (i.e. Google and Cuil). Submit a search and results come up. However, click on any of the links and all you get is a "waiting for http:..." scenario that never results in a page loading.

All cables appear to be working fine, connected right, etc. All settings appear to be correct.

I'm sure I'm overlooking the obvious answer here, but have no way of knowing what it might be.

Hopefully someone out there knows the key to corrrection my dilemmma.

Hey,

First off, I don think this is a virus problem (or at least half the issue isnt, as far as im aware).

Problem 1.) I cant use Windows Hotmail (website) or facebook properly. When I go into my inbox and see messages, when I click on the email it doesnt open. The mouse changes from the pointer to the hand, indicating a link, but when I click it,l it does nothing. If I double click the email address and/or email title just highlights. Im currently using a mobile hotmail site to access my emails.

Facebook also is playing up. I dont use facebook persoanlly, but my mum does in the morning to play some games on there she cant play on her laptop (due to mouse pad thing). She cant access friends list and more.

This problem started a few days ago.

Problem 2.) When I open a new tab (Google chrome & IE) they usually take a while to load (just sits there for about 30 seconds to 1 min without loading). If im opening a link from a website then it loads straight away, but if I open a new tab and load a bookmark or type in the web address (BBC football as an example) its takes its time. Iv had this problem for months and just accepted it.

Any ideas? Iv reinstalled the latest java and flash player, emptied my cache & deleted history, virus scanned with Avast! and even done a cleanup and defrag. Im using Windows 7 (tab problem also appeared on vista previously) and Google chrome is my main browser, although the problems exist in IE and their both up to date. Iv done all system... Read more

Hey All,

I went to TWC's Facebook page, which is just loaded with videos and ads that clogged up my computer speed so much in Firefox that I had to reboot my computer. What can be done to tell companies to do something about Facebook's Timeline, so that the videos don't show? Or at least the process gets speeded up? The problem in general with Timeline is that everything on the page loads at once, and the videos really slow up the experience. I have the My WOT and Ad Block Plus Plug in for Firefox. From a design standpoint, what does TWC need to do to re-design their Facebook page, so that Timeline does not slow people's computers down to a crawl?

Hi there,
Please try using the "Detect and Repair" feature for Word 2000, if you have not done so already. These are instructions from Microsoft:

Repair Word (Office)
Word can detect and repair problems associated with Setup. This feature uses the Windows Installer to correct problems with missing files and to repair registry settings.
You can use the following methods to repair or reset Word files and values:
Method 1: Use the "Detect and Repair" feature
Method 2: Repair Word in Maintenance Mode Setup
Method 3: Reinstall Word (Office)

Method 1: Use the "Detect and Repair" or "Microsoft Office Diagnostics" feature
Note This method is the least aggressive mode of repair. If this method does not resolve the problem, you may still have to use one of the other methods.
To run the Detect and Repair feature in Word 2003 and in earlier versions of Word, click Detect and Repair on the Help menu in Word. The Detect and Repair feature fixes and repairs Word. All files, registry entries, and optional shortcuts for all Office programs are verified and repaired. If you run Detect and Repair from Word, all other Office programs are also checked. This feature performs only a checksum.
The Detect and Repair feature can also restore the Word program shortcuts on the Start menu. To restore the Word program shortcuts, click Help, click Detect and Repair, and then click to select the Restore my shortcuts while repairing check box.

Hoping someone can give me a little help.

Both the above named apps after finally getting the AU, will not actually load. they both self close before getting off the icon screen. I only discovered this when I went to check a notification from action center instead of loading up the browser. Now I was still getting notifications while they would not load but after uninstalling/rebooting, clearing app caches multiple time they have stopped even doing that which I expected. The notifications was the main reason I even had the programs, so I could get those notifications when I did not have the site open.

I have tried every solution google could also give me including clearing out manually some registry entries between an uninstall and reinstall and clearing out all Facebook windows credentials but nothing has made a difference.

In event viewer each generated 2 errors and between then an information entry.

Internet access is very slow. It takes up to 3 minutes to get a page to load, and I have to hit 'Reload' 2-3 times before a site finally loads. When it does, Firefox still shows the site as loading. This problem appeared after one of three events. On the same day, I downloaded Babylon and FoxLingo. I have uninstalled both, and removed and remaining registry entries. I also received an email from my fan site on Ning (I am an author) requesting approval for a blog post. The link took me to my fan site, but there was no blog posted. I discovered it was the usual spam for male enhancement drugs, but perhaps it was hiding a more malicious virus. I cleaned up my Ning site and notified them. I have had the problem since. I ran AdAware and AVG, and only came up with minor cookies. I also ran SDFix, including catchme, and got 0 hits. I ran Malwarebytes, which only showed the SDFix files and 2 low-level threats. I also ran HiJackThis, but the log showed nothing that should not be present. All that leads me here. I have followed the procedure in the Prep Guide. FYI-I had to run GMER 3 times. It caused my system to freeze the first two times it finished scanning, which took over 10 hours. Outside of the Internet, my computer runs other software smoothly. I have a brand new ASUS MB, 500GBHD, AMD chip and 4GB DD2 memory-less than 3 months old. I have always worked in Chrome. My work page won't load anymore, as of last week. I tried it in Internet Explorer, and then tried FireFox. Chrome and Internet Explorer both say the problem is with the site, not with my computer or my firewall. FireFox says the site may be busy and can't be contacted. Every other employee, including my husband's computer in the next room, can load this site.
I have tweaked my proxy settings to allow automatic connections. I have disabled Kaspersky and Ad Mucher. I have done three progressively early system restores, to times when I was able to load the web page. I have turned the computer on and off after each new fix I tried. Nothing has worked.
Any suggestions?

About 3 weeks ago, I noticed that my yahoo mail was not loading correctly.
Since then I have discovered that several websites will not load at all.

My wife's laptop with xp has no issues with the same sites.

Yahoo sites load partially displaying only text and text links.
While searching for remedies, I found yahoo answers that appeared like there might be useful information but could not get them to load either.

Two other example sites that do not load at all:
www.irs.gov
www.buzzfeed.com/daves4/the-world-isnt-such-a-bad-place

Firefox reports that they failed to load, Chrome reports that there was no data received.

I have Avast AV running, have tried clearing any and all rootkits. Tried Malware bytes, tried flushing the DNS cache. And as far as I can tell I am virus free yet nothing has helped.

I even tried looking up the IP address of irs.gov using nslookup and could not get any of the returned IP addresses to load.

I thought it may be a DNS issue, but I appear to be using reliable DNS servers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Any ideas as to what may be causing my system to refuse to download specific web sites?

This is what google chrome says

"Check your Internet connection

Allow Chrome to access the network in your firewall or antivirus settings.
If it is already listed as a program allowed to access the network, try removing it from the list and adding it again.

I tried to check ping in command prompt and got this:

I am using Windows 7.For several weeks now, I've tried to get an answer from Facebook regarding my login problem but the 500 million user queue is a long wait.Out of the blue, Facebook told me that my login info was incorrect. I don't know why. I tried to reset the password. Long story short, after many, many attempts, I've managed to create a password that has been accepted. BUT, each time i try to login, I am sent back to the login page. It doesn't say that my info has been entered incorrectly, I just get returned back to the login page. This happens only for Facebook. Other sites are fine.I was advised by a computer geek (term of endearment ) that perhaps it was a redirecting problem. He suggested downloading Hijack This to repair any errors. I used the program that was on his USB stick at his office. I decided to download it myself. It won't download and run properly so I can't continue here at home.Anyhoo, back to the Facebook login problem. Any ideas on what could be happening with that site? Thanks very much.Edit: Moved topic from Introductions to the more appropriate forum, since you mention the possibility of malware issues. ~ Animal

A:Good Ol' Facebook!

moosiebee, I recently myself had an awful time with facebook. It had my account disabled for some reason but it did get fixed. I still have no idea what happened. But maybe there are a couple things you can try.

I would like to say upfront that if you use HijackThis I seriously hope you know what is relevant to your system to operate properly because that program can mess things up badly if not used carefully. Just sayin'.

Anyway, what browser do you use? It might help to clear cache, temporary folders and cookies.

Also make sure you have the latest adobe flash player installed. Try this link to see what version you have http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html

I've just started having this problem and its killing me.

I have 2 computers. My server is running windows 2000 server, and the secondary computer is running xp Pro.

The internet was working fine on my secondary computer, and then one day, it just started becoming slow, and it would not load pages (images wouldn't fully load, some pages wouldn't load at all). If i type in a url in the address bar for IE it would load the page quickly (probably from cache), but then proceeding to click links would cause "Page not found" or "timed out" errors.

I know that i can reach these sites, i ping them and get normal responses. It seems that IE is just not displaying them properly or something. The internet on my server computer works perfectly fine.

I have 2 nic cards in the server computer, 1 recieving the cable modem, and one receiving a LAN cable from my Hub.

Anybody have any ideas? Like i said, it worked on my secondary cmputer before. Also, i hooked up another computer to my hub and the internet was working fine, and then i installed Service Pack 3 and it started crapping out like mentioned above.

This is driving me NUTS!! ahhh. please help.

Thanks

thanks for your help

A:firewall blocking certain web-sites. eg. Facebook

Hello glennm
The change needs to be done on the firewall in order to allow you to access Facebook. I would suggest you should work with your brother to resolve this as he set it up (could be for a reason, i.e. your mums wish). It is not a requirement but out of respect and courtesy.

How do I block facebook windows popups in every web sites.

A:How do I block facebook popups in every web sites?

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Although add blocking is not allowed to be discussed here,
You might post a link to one of the pages where the issue happens so we might test,
Second is it might be as easy as signing out of Facebook and deleting your browser history and cookies,
Depending on your browser being used which you didn't say
Internet explorer,
Ctrl+Shift+Delete or Gear symbol/ Safety/ Delete browser history.
Uncheck the top box and make sure the next four are checked/ Delete.
Close ie and re-open.
You might even want to use this to get rid of any tracking cookies,

Hi
My Ip was reported by CBL as having a cutwail. I have tried everything from NPE, Malwarebytes, Hijackthis, Bitdefender, SuperSpyware Remover, AVG, and it doesnt seem to have helped. When my Norton free edition ran out I battled to instal another free service, and suddenly couldnt access google, gmail, facebook and miscellaneous sites. The onscreen message is "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page." I have cleared the cache, disabled proxy servers.
I have installed the full version of AVG Internet Security 2014 which doesnt pick up anything.
