Q: Hotmail ,Yahoo ,Facebook,Skype and email username/password hijacked

My wife was given a computer that seemed good but i am not sure if it was infected with trojans and spyware i thrn tried and used a usb onto 2 of the laptops and seems i got same thing on all 3 i am using a desktop at present since i do not feel safe on the other ones .  After  weeks of using our computer, she suddenly wasn't able to sign into hotmail or Skype.  Her password had been changed as well as mine  Then as we tried to reset the password we discovered her email address had been deleted.  She had just accessed and used her email the day before.  Her information was definitely stolen and I feel it was probably logged while using our computer.  The reason i suspect is my wife and I have noticed many pop-ups, especially when using Google Chrome and redirects     I had attempted to download a VPN browser software  and it was free of spyware/malware.  But in my haste, I downloaded and installed the software from a location that I am sure had spyware/malware software attached and now i am using windows 8 on this pc and get a constant dial up window at certain times and all programs are running slow many are crashing and more think backdoor trojans etc.  so now,  please we beg, please, help!...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello frankp747 I would like to welcome you to the Malware Removal section of the forum.Around here they call me Gringo and I will be glad to help you with your malware problems.Very Important --> Please read this post completely, I have spent my time to put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier, faster and smoother for both of us!Please do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the top of your post, click on the "Follow This Topic" Button, make sure that the "Receive notification" box is checked and that it is set to "Instantly" - This will send you an e-mail as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing us to resolve the issue faster.NOTE: Backup any files that cannot be replaced. Removing malware can be unpredictable and this step can save a lot of heartaches if things don't go as planed. You can put them on a CD/DVD, external drive or a pen drive, anywhere except on the computer.NOTE: It is good practice to copy and paste the instructions into notepad and print them in case it is necessary for you to go offline during the cleanup process. To open notepad, navigate to Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad. Please remember to copy the entire post so you do not miss any instructions.I would like you to run this program for me.Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.Press Scan button. It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste it to your reply. The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.Gringo

Dear BleepingComputer Technician:
My mother-in-law was here recently helping my family with the birth of our new child.  After three weeks of using our computer, she suddenly wasn't able to sign into Skype.  Her password had been changed.  Then as we tried to reset the password we discovered her email address had been deleted.  She had just accessed and used her email the day before.  Her information was definitely stolen and I feel it was probably logged while using our computer.  The reason is that prior to her arrival my wife and I have noticed many pop-ups, especially when using Google Chrome.  Since we are living in China and I tire of being unable to access several websites, I had attempted to download a VPN browser software that a friend was using, and it was free of spyware/malware.  But in my haste, I downloaded and installed the software from a location that I am sure had spyware/malware software attached..  so now, I beg, please, help!
We are using Windows XP SP3..

Hello My name is Tisha I come on here from time to time. I was trying to help a relative on the computer with figuring out her hotmail account and I encountered a troubling issue. When logging on to firefox and searching for hotmail, then clicking on hotmail to log in her username and password are already there on the login in page. I am well aware this is NOT good. The "keep me signed in" box is NOT checked. I cleared her browser history, cache, and cookies and that did not take care of the problem. I tried signing in to her email and signing out to see if that would do it and her information is still there. I am totally perplexed here. Can anyone please help me out on how to fix this before a hacker finds her? Thank you all for your time

that's the right approach.

Try this:

You get a list of ALL cookies held by Firefox. REMOVE ALL and close.
click ok on the Preferences and quit FF.

Restart FF, and repeat the above to get the list -- ANY show up again?

Also I have a problem with this sites log in as well. I will log in and I am sent to a page that says something like welcome Abstract04. then redirects me to the homepage. The problem is that I am not logged in after I get redirected to homepage. It takes about 2-4 times to for the log in to stay. I know the password is not incorrect or the username because I do it very slow to make sure. Can someone help me with this issue as well?

Apparently when logging into Yahoo once, I didn't succeed in clicking down to the password space before typing my password. Now when I go to type in my username it not only shows the correct username but also the incorrect one with my password included.

I've tried to find how to delete that one entry but can't. Also could only find how to stop showing my username at all by removing all site usernames & passwords from the memory. As my wife also uses this computer, I don't want to do that either for myself or for her.

Is there any way to delete just the one incorrect username that also contains my password?

I use about 5 different internet based email accounts to manage my affairs( Yahoo email mostly, but also Hotmail and Gmail, etc,....NO Onboard email used at all) . Some are for friends email, some for family, others for various business interests, online purchase, etc. If I get certain emails, I NEED to know about it ASAP as I'm working/browsing on my computer.

I have used a program called "eprompter" before but found it unreliable. Sometimes it would not notify me at all that a new email had just arrived that I'd been waiting for. That is very aggrevating when they are important and need to be opened and replied to promptly. That NOT being notified at all when new a email arrives in my Inbox Can Not Happen. Most of them are TOO Important for it to just not tell me about!

And also, if I independantly just go to my Yahoo Inbox, I notice it just marks emails I have not read....as already read. That's Spooky! I Just DON'T Trust ePrompter!!!

There Must be a good one that doesn't try to fake out whether you've seen emails or not !
Does anyone know of a free, but really good and dependable Email Notifier program to monitor all my internet based accounts at once, please?

A few days ago I could not login to either of my hotmail or facebook accounts. I sent microsoft a message and they let me reset my password and I got my account back. A day later, the same happened again. My password, secret question and details were all changed in my hotmail account and once again my facebook account's password was also changed. I emailed Microsoft again telling them my situation and once again they sent me a reset password link and everything went back to normal. Just then, it all happened again which really started to annoy me. I ran a whole bunch of anti-virus programs and registry cleaners after I reset my password the 2nd time and yet it still happened so I'm wondering if it's something my programs aren't picking up? Can anybody please help me!!! Your help is greatly appreciated!

I have a weird problem where ppl can't email me or I them.

Like in my yahoo account I can't get an email through to my sisters account which is also in yahoo. She also can't email me....or rather I don't get her emails.

Same in hotmail from her yahoo account..not going out or coming in.

Also businesses can't contact me on my hotmail or yahoo account they get a mailer daemon and the email doesn't come through.

Have I been blacklisted somewhere? I don't send spam or even send huge amounts of emails.
What is weird is that I can email myself ie yahoo to hotmail and the other way around.
I can also get emails from forums or even gamespot etc.

It all started after I emailed curry's about being dissatisfied about customer service but it wasn't theatening or even rude.

Since then I have changed ISP any even use different accounts in yahoo and at the time I wasn't using hotmail at all.
Anyone have a clue??...I have tried turning off all spam filters and before that I configured the filters to let through anything with my sis's name.

I am about the end of my rope here trying to log onto hotmail for the past week. My pc is running fine, I can get into the internet..I can get into the msn and yahoo homepage but to get into my emails, it takes me to something from google called bellasearch. I am on windowsxp, I am using mircrosoft, msn. When I try to get into my msn account through the mainpage and after i click on my user name and password it starts with attempt 1,2,3,4,5 and then tells my it's a problem with my internet or it is them(not in these exact words)then tells me to try again later.

I tried calling my dsl support and they said there is nothing wrong with my pc(I can access my verizon email)..it may have to do with either my hewittpackard or microsoft, before I pay anyone of them to help me(which may not be the problem)I thought I would come here first...it is so frustrating, and I don't want them to cancel my emails accounts for being inactive!

Can somebody help!!!!
thanks, Laura

I am setting up a yahoo email address for our school club. We previously used hotmail, but were not satisfied with it I was wondering if I could import all my lists and email addresses from hotmail to yahoo mail without typing them out again…we have over a 100.

A:Importing email addresses from hotmail to yahoo

According to Yahoo help you cannot import the Hotmail address book directly to Yahoo:

Getting Started With Import/Export
In Yahoo! Address Book, select the "Addresses Options" link. Click on "Import/Export" and follow the instructions for importing to and exporting from one of these four platforms:

Outlook Express
Outlook 97, 98, and 2000
Palm Desktop 2.0 or higher
Netscape Address Book

Here is a way to if you have Excel:

Exporting Contacts from…. There is no built-in export tool within Hotmail. One way to export your contacts from Hotmail is as follows: 1. Within Hotmail > Select “Contacts” Tab 2. Select File > Edit > Select All 3. Select File > Edit > Copy 4. Open Excel > Edit > Paste 5. A lot of random items from the website will be pasted into the spreadsheet. Find the columns that have the first & last name as well as the email address. 6. Select those columns > Click Edit < Copy 7. Create a new spreadsheet 8. Paste the columns into the new spreadsheet 9. Delete any additional unwanted images or text 10. Save the file as a CSV (Comma Delimited) (*.csv) file.

Then just go to the Yahoo help and it will take you through the importing of a .csv type address book.

I am currently facing some majorly frustrating issues with my yahoo email. I used to have ATT as my ISP, but I dropped them and just kept the sbcglobal email. Turns out my email has been hijacked and the password changed. Well, I either can't remember the security questions or they have been changed also. I've been up and down and all around with people in India about this and none of them know enough to help me. This jacker is looking at my email and sending bogus spam and I can't get in to change my password or anything. There's sentimental emails in there. No #, no fax, no nothing to get a hold of someone who knows how to verify that I'm me, and that I want my email back. Any thoughts?

This Monday AM I noticed my yahoo email account was sending spam mail to my entire contact list. The emails appeared in my sent items folder, and had a link to businesslenews15.net/jobs/?alert=86255. I did not click on the link. A few of the people that got the email did.The full header for the email looks fairly legit, except the from IP is in Warsaw, Poland. I am in the US.I checked the login history from yahoo for my account. I did not see anything that looked like it was not me.Here is what I did:+ I changed my yahoo password. (as well as other critical pwds)+ I checked that my password recovery email addresses were not changed.+ I sent a mail to my contacts list telling them to delete the email and not click on the link.+ I deleted all my contacts from yahoo.+ I scanned my home pc using AVAST, Windows Defender and MalwareBytes (quick, then full scans). Nothing significant was found. The home pc mentioned above has been running it's fan a little more than previously over the last month, but performance-wise it seems fine. Whenever the fan goes on, I check the processes running and they all seem to be something I kicked off.I can think of one other PC I logged onto yahoo from since I last changed my pwd 6 months ago, and he ran a scan and found no issues (Norton). Of course, he also clicked the link in the email, so draw your own conclusions about that. He also had his yahoo email hijacked in a similar manner ~1 yr ago, but he changed his pwd and it stopped. Here a... Read more

Lately I`ve noticed sometimes, key word being sometimes my Yahoo e-mail seems to get redirected at the sign in. I sign on using the "secure" tab, not sure why, but since spyware, bugs, hacks etc etc getting more frequent, and more ingrained into the net I started doing so. Not sure maybe I had missed it on occasion, but once about a month ago the time between clicking e-mail, and anything happening seemed awful long, and I got to looking at the bar address at the bottom of Firefox, which flickers the different places/names info being loaded. It flashed on something like akami.net for a second, and I thought hmmmm, usually to yahoo I see a lot of Yming, Y something, but had never noted this akami.net. When the page finally loaded it showed it as a broken secure connection. I closed the browser, reopened to Yahoo mail under secure, and it went right there, as it normally would, and without the long delay I`d just had. I`ve noted the same a few times since, and again noted it tonite. A search on Google for Akami.net doesn`t get any hits, I`m not positive if it is Akami, but thats what my minds eye thinks it was. I only saw it on the one occasion, as if it`s opening normally I guess I don`t pay any attention to what is flashing on the bar, but I`ve noted the broken secure link, and assumed was same thing.

Earlier today I had gone through the complete sequence of running Avast, AdAware, Spybot, checked Spyware Blaster, and done a HJT log after checking all of the site... Read more

A:Yahoo email getting Hijacked, but not??

Akamai is a "clearing house" of sorts, for all sorts of programs...almost a file sharing thing. Many legit programs and sites are listed by Akamai, but a multitude of infected programs and files can be found in there, too.

So, Akamai, in and of itself, is not suggestive of a problem. In fact, it could conceivably be a link for one of the ads on your Yahoo home page, as they do that sort of hosting business, as well.

If your tools show nothing, and your HJT log is unchanged, then the overwhealming probability is that nothing significant is afoot. That being said, there are so many new baddies out there right now, that the tools, and even HJT, can't see, that if you continue to have problems, you might want to consider taking a deeper look. We could help you with that.

I have been unable to access my hotmail acct. I somehow set up a 2 step verification .I have a windows phone and thats when the trouble started. It first asks me to fill in my last 4 numbers of my cell phone, its texts me a number,I put that in,then it wants to send me a email. I cant get my emails because its asking for a 2 step verification to get to my email . I have used my husband computer ,and can sometimes get the email . It then makes me change the password. OK. then when I try to access it again it says wrong password and it just keeps going and going.
It won't let me start a new email acct because the back up email is connected to the hotmail acct.

You can find a click here - more or less any where on a google search and clicking on anything and calling a number that presumably you do not know who you were speaking to - is most inadvisable

Start here please

that is the same procedure for Outlook - (Hotmail)

Hi there. My friend recommended your site.

My Yahoo email appears to be hijacked. All my friends are telling me they are getting weird emails from 'me' with various attachments that are links to online pharmacies, usually for Viagra.. etc. Also, all my sent emails are gone! I have looked over some of the other forum posts with similar problems, and it appears some scans are in order.

I have Avast antivirus and CyberDefender. They don't seem to find anything that has stopped the problem. I really don't want to delete this email account because i've had it a really long time now, but i'm worried my computer security is at risk. I am running Vista 64-bit on a Sony Vaio (pretty new).
Thank you in advance.

Looks like I forgot to follow instructions. Ok. Here is what happened when I followed your preparation guide. Nothing seems to be happening as described in the guide. but I did my best....1- DDS file download link didn't work. Didn't get that log. I get following message:File not foundFirefox can't find the file at http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr. * Check the file name for capitalization or other typing errors. * Check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted.

2- Gmer options for scan weren't as described in the preparation guide. All option boxes were greyed out except last three: 'Services', 'Registry', and 'Files'. 'C:\' drive was selected as was 'ADS'. 'Show All' was also greyed out. I did a scan with those options. That log ark.txt is attachedWell, now i don't see an option to attach a file. We've recorded that you didn't ask to reset your password. You can log in to your account with your current password, and you don't need to do anything else.
To double check i requested the same thing on a separate acct (so entirely legit) and received an identical response. Having clicked both it appears again to be identical to the first, and looks legit, however, i can see that the url isnt exactly the same.
Number one (that i requested to check) - https://www.facebook.com/login/recover/disavow_reset_email.php? [Rest of URL Redacted]
Number Two - that came out the blue

I have put ****** in instead of the request codes in case it's sensitive.
Any thoughts? Does this look dodgy?

I haven't been able to sign in to my Yahoo email account for 5 days now. I have tons of info on this email and would HATE to lose it ! Yahoo
is absolutely NO HELP ! I signed up for this account 6 yrs ago and don't remember birthdate or zip code info I entered. Now, Yahoo tells me they can't send me my password without this info!

It just will not ACCEPT my current password which makes me think someone has hijacked my password and possibly my Yahoo account.

Any suggestions on how I can "crack" the password for my Yahoo email
account ? It still accepts my Yahoo ID, just not my password. I'm really worried !

About a week ago, I had the new Firefox or Yahoo upgrade, (not sure which one it was), but now I'm having issues with my Yahoo mail. When I open the email sign in page on Yahoo, it automatically fills in my main email password. Its not filling in my actual email address, just my password. I've tried erasing all history under the tools tab, in control panel under internet options, and also by using CC cleaner. It still holds that password and fills it in. How do I keep it from remembering the pass.

I changed the password on my new computer for my yahoo email the other day while I was playing a online game. Later on I realized that I didn't remember what it was changed too.

I contacted yahoo support and I gave them ALL the proper information and they told that they updated my secret question information. Funny thing, I have done this before and last time I gave all the information they simply sent a temp password to my listed backup email account.

I guess the problem is to answer this question I have to enter my date of birth, and zip code. But when I set this up I used all bogus information fearing that this was some sort of marketing information. So I can't get to the secret question to reset my password. Here is where you people come in.

Isn't there a way that I can look in my windows somewhere in the files and look up the password that I changed it too? A log of some sort or something?
If anyone can help me, I'd be very happy.

A:Yahoo email problem... password issue.. please help...

When you log-in to Yahoo!, do you tell it to save your password?
If so, then it might be found in the Yahoo! cookie. However, since you are manually logging in, this does not seem likely.

There wouldn't be any log on your computer unless you created it.

I went to log into my Yahoo mail the other day, I'm running Vista 64 bit on a Dell laptop. When I clicked on the "User Name" my regular email address was there but there was an entirely Different one that scares me. It's titled [email protected] and has a pre populated password.(hammond was my unmarried name)
Needless to say I did not open it, even tho my curiosity was killing me. I don't know why this email is there but it most certainly sounds suspicious to me!!
Has anybody ever heard of this and know what it is? How do I get rid of it? I'm afraid to even go into my real emai now from my computer. Everything seems ok with my email on my ipad and iphone.
