i have entered my username and password atleast 10000 times and still neither firefox nor IE can remember. Can anybody here:
1. Give a script that can load username and password automatically?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to set IE so that it automatically saves the username and password without it promting all the time??

A:Solved: IE Promting to save username and password

try this : got to your control panel then internet options, on that screen go to the connections tab, in here click on the settings button (its right under remove) on this screen you will see some little boxes that should all be unchecked and a username/password/domain blank make sure your username is there and type your password in if its not there and leave domain blank, then click ok and ok again then close your control panel and restart your PC, then when your connection box comes up for you to connect make sure the remember password box has a check mark and then retype your password in the box as well, then hit connect and it should save.

If your using winME then contact your manufacturer cause its a program setting where it is checked to remember but it doesnt, i think you have to reinstall DUN for that.

I have subscriptions to several paid websites. One of them does not save username and password. All the other sites save this information, but this is the only one that doesn't. I don't think it's the site. I wonder if it has something to do with my Kaspersky security software.
Can anyone help with this? I use this particular site very often during the day. My old computer with Vista software always saved this information at this site. Why doesn't my new computer with Win 7 do the same?

This question is for Edge, but I didn't see a forum specifically for that.  I had one website that had saved my username and password, but would not save a new password after having changed the password on the site.  Each time I would go to the
site it would attempt to login using the old password, despite me entering the new password each time.  So I deleted the entry for that site in the password vault.  Now that site will not prompt me to save my username and password.  Even checking
'remember me' doesn't help.  Most posts I've seen on this issue don't seem to have a working answer, so I thought I would try here.  Any thoughts are appreciated.

I've searched all over the place for this same issue with no luck. I've come IE won't save passwords, IE won't prompt to save passwords, and IE won't save passwords on certain sites, but I have been unable to find why on one computer it will prompt to save
the password for a site but it won't prompt to save on that same site on a different computer with the same browser.

So let me start by saying this, both computers are the same model, have the same OS, and same version of IE. (Dell OptiPlex 3010, Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64, and IE 11). I have verified the site in question allows passwords to be saved. It works on one computer
and not the other. Even if we try the same username. The company that runs the site has also verified this (Can't post the site name for privacy reasons).
I set this new user up on this computer and have done the following:
1. Made sure that prompting to save passwords was enabled in Internet options
2. Reset IE to defaults
3. Added to site to compatibility list
4. Added site to trusted sites
5. Restarted computer
6. Tested password prompt worked on another site
I know this is kind of vague, but if I am missing anything it would be greatly appreciated if someone could point it out.

Thanks in advance.

Vista's default is to inhibit file sharing if the account has no password.
Turn off any firewalls for debugging. If the firewall is the problem, you'll have to configure it to allow access to "trusted zone" addresses. Note that some firewalls must be completely uninstalled to stop them from affecting your networking.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt.

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands:

PING each remote computer by IP address, and if successful, PING by name. Open a command prompt as described above and type.

PING <ip address>
PING <computer name>

<ip address> - is the x.x.x.x IP address
<computer name> - is the computer name

A failure to PING is almost always a firewall configuration issue. Any failure to PING needs to be corrected before you go any farther.

Note: You can obtain the IP address and computer name of a computer by opening a command prompt (DOS window) and typing IPCONFIG /ALL. This should work for any Windows version. The IPCONFIG /ALL display will provide a wealth of useful information for debugging your network connection.

i have seen in the forums about home networks need to have an account on each computer with the same username/password. i don't doubt the validity of those comments. however...

i have a home network with a dell dimension 2350 (xp-home-sp2, connected by ethernet, zone alarm pro), ibm thinkpad r50 (xp-home-sp2, connected by ethernet or wifi-g, symantec client firewall), and an acer aspire 1500 (xp-pro-sp2, connected by wifi-g, symantec client firewall). the ibm laptop is the only one with multiple logins (x2). one of which is a username/password (the one i use at work). when i connect the thinkpad to my home network and login using either logon, i'm able to share files and printers with no problems.

my question would be how is this so when i'm supposed to need the same username/password on the dell and acer in order to share files?

TIA for the insight

Recently did a reinstall of W7. When leaving the unit running it was soon "going to sleep" and when awakening would show user (me) and ask for password. Because I never entered a password during the install, all I had to do was click on the user icon and W7 would come up. Found that annoying, so went to Microsoft Management Console where I found three accounts: administrator, guest and me. Then I removed the me account thinking since I'm the only user of the unit I would just have an administrator and guest accounts. Thought that would stop the recovering from sleep annoyance. But when I went to reboot W7 launched but then prompted me for a username and password. So now I'm sort of locked out of W7. How do I recover?

How to force IE 11 to ask for saving credentials again for just one web site, after having accidentally sellect not to remember password for that particular site. Please, take into account that:

- I'm totally aware that storing credentials is not a good security practice, but in my particular case this is what I need to do.

- I know that reseting IE or similar approachs will do the job, but doing that I'll lost more tan 70 web sites credentials. I need a solution not involving loose all the web credentials stored.
- I also know that there is way to do the trick "lying" to IE using a modified but similar username, but this only works in some web sites, depending on the kind of login mechanism used. In my particulare case this trick also does not work.
- I also know that there was a registry hack for this particular problem, but this does not work with IE last versions.

Hello Technical Experts!

I apologize for my lack of technical expertise, so I hope you'll bear with my very simplistic overview of my file-sharing problem.

I have a local area network (LAN) with three computers, two with a Vista operating system and one with XP:

Vista 1
Vista 2

Sharing files is no problem between Vista 1 and Vista 2. Everything is working perfectly.

It's also no problem for the XP computer to access the files of the Vistas. The problem is the reverse: the Vistas can't access the XP - I keep getting asked for a username and password that was never created in the first place. (When I'm in one of the Vistas, I can see that the XP is part of my network, but I can't open it.)

I read somewhere that the 'guest' user on XP had to be set up for network access and I did that, but no luck.

Would you have any suggestions?

If you need more information, I will be glad to provide it.

Thanks so much!

Hello there, I'd like to ask you.

I placed a computer at a network station and had turned on its remote desktop feature. Unluckily, I forgot the credentials on that computer (used to be having only 1 administrator-level account). I completely forget both user and password. I still can connect to it through remote desktop. Otherwise, I can't log in to windows.

I'd really like to retrieve the credentials back. I don't somehow care on what will I lose. If I had to reset the password, then it will be no problem for me.

FYI: I am not able to touch the machine physically anymore. I just don't know why, even I am the owner of it.

Thanks in advance.

I seem to be having an issue with one of our end user's logging into a website ( Freddie Mac's Loan Prospector - Your Home for More Loans.) This started happening whenever I swapped out the user's old XP pc for a new W7 pc. Whenever they click on the link to log into the web page they get a message saying "The server loanprospector.com at "Freddie Mac Secure Domain" requires a username and password." but there are no text boxes for the user to input a username/password.
The W7 machine that replaced the XP computer was imaged using Acronis (not sure if it has anything to do with it or not.) and I did try to log into the website via a different W7 machine that was imaged. Some of the machines would prompt for a username/password but others would not.

I have tried adding the website to the trusted sites, disabled a/v, turned off UAC settings, turned off pop-up blocker but nothing seems to be working. I called Freddie Mac and spoke with them but they flat out told me to call Microsoft about the issue. I was hoping you guys could provide some input before I tried dealing with Microsoft. Any help/suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

I want to setup file sharing between multiple Windows XP Pro SP2 on the same network.

They are all in the same workgroup.
All have simple file sharing disabled.
They can share files without using user accounts (everyone/guest access).
A friend managed to setup one of the boxes (BoxA) so that you have to authenticate before you can connect to it. For example:

A client, say BoxB, connects to BoxA using \\BoxA\ in explorer or equivilant.
The client is presented with a prompt to enter both a username and password.
If authentication is successful (a correct username/password for a local account on BoxA is given) then file sharing session works under those credentials.
If authentication is canceled then no access is given - can't even see a list of shared folders.
This is what I want to setup on the other boxes (BoxB and BoxC) - so that you are prompted to provide username/password when you connect.

I've tried to copy every logical setting from BoxA to BoxB and BoxC with no luck. Settings differences are:

Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View = All settings identical
Local Policies -> User Rights Assignment (Control Panel -> Adminstrative Tools -> Local Security Policy) = All settings identical
Local Policies -> Security Options (Control Panel -> Adminstrative Tools -> Local Security Policy) = All settings identical

The solution was to delete accounts until every machine has a unique set of accounts, then the login dialog appears.

I've read through pages and pages of search results for this, but they all seem to be between Win7 and XP, or something not quite the same as my problem.

Here at home we are all using Windows 7 (a mix of Home Premium and Ultimate). I have an HTPC which has all our DVDs on. This PC has a few shares so we can access our movies across the network.

I have set up the shares using the Sharing Wizard thing, and set 'Everyone' to Read/Write. I can verify the permissions for the shares in Advanced Sharing > Permissions, and see that 'Everyone' has full control.

In the Network and Sharing Center, the settings for sharing are as follows:Network discovery = ON
File and printer sharing = ON
Public folder sharing = OFF (no need for it)
Media streaming = ON (for WMP, Xbox)
Use 128-bit encryption = ON
Password protected sharing = OFF
Allow Windows to manage Homegroup connections = ON
I should point out after the last bullet point that we are not using a Homegroup.

So with all that as it is, whenever I try to connect to the HTPC shares from another computer, I still get prompted for a username and password, with the "X Invalid user name and password" message beneath the text boxes. I can, however, connect without a problem from my laptop, which has the same username and password as the admin account on the HTPC.

The strange thing now - if I type "anonymous" into the username box and try to connect, I get in. Everything then works as it should. So either all... Read more

A:Password protected sharing is OFF, still asked for username/password?

You might want to check that the time/date settings are correct on the HTPC. If they aren't correct on one of your machines it will give you a password prompt as you described.

Also under power options, make sure that it's not set to require a password when coming out of sleep state.

Go to Control Panel, then Power Options "look upper left side". Click "Require a password on wakeup".

Select the radio button "Don't Require a Password" and then Save Changes. Your done.

To experiment I just tried saving one digit, the letter a. It still saved about 8 digits. I use several ISP's and they all do the same thing. Entering a new ISP details has same result. Any ideas?

I've reinstalled my computer with Windows XP SP2 instead of Windows 2000.
I used to have a "remember username and password" in Windows 2000 that I no longer see.
For example, when I now log in into MS Messenger, I need to reenter username and password with each login, and the check box that I used to have in W2K is gone.

Another example, is web sites. I have username and password for certain web sites. Now that the check box is gone, I need to reenter the credentiald with each log in.

In the new login windows, ther is only a drop down list with a user icon next to the username field. But this drop down list is always empty.

How can I restore/enable this feature?

On most of my regularly used websites I am able to save login/password info, but on one particular site that I use regularly I just cannot arrange for the details to be saved. I have tried the Tools/Options/Security/Remember Passwords for Sites routine but this does not work and I am obliged to enter all the details each time. I am using Firefox v. 32.0.3 Can anyone advise? Thanks.
