Emails to me with photos bounce back to sender

Q: Emails to me with photos bounce back to sender

I am having a problem with Windows Mail (Comcast). Emails with several photos attached bounce back to the sender. I am able to receive email with 5 photos attached from an AOL account, but when someone with a Yahoo acccount tries to send the same, it bounces back to them, and I have no idea the attempt was even made, unless they email me without the photos and tell me. (A while ago, I had the same problem with another AOL sender as well.) Is there a setting I can change?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Emails to me with photos bounce back to sender

Apparently they are rejected by the server. I can think of two reasons, they are being picked up as spam or they are too large. You may want to read the Terms of Service (TOS) on the website of your ISP.

Is it possible to block a certain email address but bounce back the message so that they are aware that the email was undeliverable?

I need to know urgently as I am being harassed.

A:How to bounce back emails on hotmail

You can block the sender's email address:

http://techtips.salon.com/block-someone-hotmail-10182.html

However, he can simply create a new one and continue.

Or, you can allow only contacts and safe senders to your Hotmail inbox:

The surest method is to change your email address though.

What I am about to ask help on is all second hand information. I have zero examples of this and have no idea where to look.

Client is using Office365 setup by their previous IT company.
The previous company asked the client to notify us (being me and others) to remove them off the list so when the "client" gets bounce back emails the previous IT company no longer gets emails about it.

Where in the portal would that be? I am poking around and have no idea where to look for such a request nor was ever aware of it.

A:Office365 - Bounce Back Emails - Notifications

Can I just double check what you mean here.

When the user gets a bounce back message the old IT company would also get an e-mail saying the user had received a bounce back?

If I am correct then it would be something I personally would do via the users mail client, might be worth checking there. As for the O365 portal I am unsure of any parts in there other than OWA.

Since Microsoft Mail doesn't seem to sync correctly, Outlook.com doesn't seem to support pop accounts ( and I was getting some "TLS API error" ), I logged in to the pop server with telnet:

telnet pop.secureserver.net PORT

Which means 0 messages, 0 bytes, as I understand.

I use a gmail account to send an email to this pop account and it bounces back:
Any ideas on how to fix this?

I also have trouble sending photos... this all started when our PC was hit by lightening and we had to replace it. Now I have alot of trouble with the email part of it. We use windows 2000 professional

A:emails coming back; cannot send photos

Are all emails returned or just some?

One reason why they may come back is that the addresses are no longer valid or they may be blocked due to infection.

If you are using Outlook Express or another Windows email client, you may not have configured it correctly for your ISP -- you should contact them for information on how to set it up.

>> I've edited your topic title because you do not want to publish your email address -- you will just be a spam target.

Photos are usually sent as attachments, is that how you are doing it? What happens when you try to attach one?

Can anyone recommend a good email bouncing program? I know it's not a good idea to bounce SPAM back to its originator since this can validate your email address for them. I just want to bounce some emails back to certain "friends". I have tried Bounce Buddy 1.0, but it doesn't seem to work too well on my Win 7 64-bit system. And I can't seem to get CoffeeCup SPAM Blocker to work right either. I mainly use Eudora 7 and Thunderbird for my emails, and have tried "Redirect" add-ons for Thunderbird, but they won't work with the version of Thunderbird that I am using.

Any suggestions? Any and all help appreciated...

Thanks!

In the Safety options for WinLiveMail, under Blocked Senders list, there is an option to tick which says:

"When I click delete and block" ... "Bounce the blocked messages back to the sender."

I have a heap of blocked senders in the list, but how do you click "Delete and block". There is no such command in the options. Am I missing something?

I put one of my own email addresses in the blocked senders list with the above option ticked. However when I sent an email from this account to my normal working email address it was not blocked nor bounced, or even sent to junk email.

A:How to bounce emails in WinLiveMail

Hi poppa bear,
If you read mail in HTML instead of Plain Text, messages from unknown senders can appear in the preview pane without being sent to the Junk Mail folder. It should then give 2 options, Delete and Block or Show Images. I always read in Plain Text.

Read in Plain Text temp. disabled to show you.

A:Windows Live Mail - how to bounce emails

You can add the sender to your blocked sender list (right click on the sender's address - add to blocked sender

or you can create a rule
Select one or more conditions:
| | Where the from line contains people

Select one or more options
| | Do not download it from the server
| | Delete from Server

Neither of these sends anything back to the sender. why would you want to do that anyway?

OK, I have a question, in case anyone has come across this.

I have one user that insists on using AOL for her email, but for about a month now, she can't send email to 2 different domains. She is getting the following bounce back message:

Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 451 Temporary local problem - please try later

The 2 domains in question insist that her email is not even hitting the firewall, so it is going nowhere near them.

Here is the kicker: it works if she uses her phone or online, but if she is using AOL Desktop, it does not work. (yes, she still wants to use AOL Desktop for some unGodly reason!)

It gets worse: if I use AOL Desktop with my AOL account (that I made up for this reason only), it works. But if I use the same AOL Desktop on my same PC with her email, it gives the bounce back!

AOL is looking into it still, but is saying the issue must be with the other domains. To me, it seems like there is an issue with her user at AOL.

Has anyone seen anything like this? I don't really expect a solution, just asking and passing on info.

Ed

I have a laptop (Compaq Evo N620c) that was working fine. Then one day it wouldn't respond at all when pressing the on switch. It does nothing at all. No screen on. No booting. It appears that it's getting no power, although the battery is fully charged and the power cable is in. I've tried swapping the power cable from another machine. It doesn't respond what so ever.

I've taken it to bits to see if there are any obvious problems (something popped out, disconnections etc) but still no use.

I should point out that it dropped from my desk into a box and I suspect that might have had something to do with it .

Anyone got any clues so I can diagnose the problem.

(It's a good little machine and would be a shame to throw it out. But on the other hand giving it to a repairer would probably cost more than getting another second hand machine)

Cheers for any advice.

You can't boot from a USB.
I can clone to a HDD in my USB enclosure .. Then if I have a crash or corruption ..
I can just physically swap the drives.

I also use Acronis True Image to make Image Data files in my external .. that can be used to recover the HDD in my computer.
I think this is doing about the same as Bounce Back.

It is almost as if someone is using my email address as the reply to address, but they are using some other account to actually send the emails.

Why would they do this?

What good does this do them?

Also, the emails seem to be coming from Russia. I live in Arizona.

So I'm wondering if this is true or not, I use hotmail/outlook email, and alot of spam emails have images, and I've heard a sender can get your ip just by you opening their messages, is this true?

A:Opening emails with pictures gives the sender your IP?

If the pictures are accessed online (meaning you didn't dowload them as attachments) then definitely yes. But that's not the main problem...

When accessing online pictures in an email, it confirms to whoevers hosts the pictures that this specific email has been opened, this usually results in even more spam mails being sent to your email adress. Those kind of pictures can be hidden and as small as a pixel to prevent you noticing them.

You should check that your email reader has either disable images or disable html checked to prevent that.

Using Windows Home Premium 7 and when emails come into my Inbox something very weird happens. If I'm having an ongoing conversation with one person unless I delete their message once read and replied to, their next email is blocked until I actually delete their original email. For example, Ebay wrote to tell me one of my items was expiring soon - I actually had 7 expiring at exactly the same time but I only had one email come in for the first item. Only when I deleted that did the next Ebay email pop up to tell me the second item was due etc. etc. Never used to happen, only within the last few days have I noticed this odd thing. Help?

Someone else has also gotten a threatening email from him that he never sent. It contained very specific and personal information.

I've advised him to change his email account password and secret questions, and check all his settings for anything awry, but this clearly isn't like those common generic webmail hacks, but he's being personally targeted somehow.

So I just set up my first IMAP account after being stuck with POP for a long time.

I use Windows Live Mail and had tons of folders and message rules which I'm now trying to replicate for IMAP. I had to decide between local email rules or server based rules/filters. I went with the latter so it would be all done at the source.

I set up a new filter to put anything from my hotmail email into a folder called 'Test'. Pretty simple.

But upon sending the test email from hotmail to my new IMAP account, it bounces back with the following error:

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:  "info+Test"@ (insert my IMAP account domain here)    (generated from [email protected](insert my IMAP account domain here))    No Such User Here

So it's just butchering the email address it seems. Weird. Any thoughts on this? I've been back and forth with the host admins and they've been pretty useless.

A:New IMAP account - email filters causing messages to bounce back

You'd have to post the actual filter you're using.   I have never seen an IMAP filter result in an "alternate e-mail address" such as "info+Test."

It should simply be set up such that upon receipt if the sender is {insert your hotmail address here} or if your sender contains "hotmail.com" [if you want to cast a broad net] then move the message to the Test folder.

Screen shots of the filter rule set up as you create it at each step of the dialog, with the personal bits redacted, of course, would be most helpful as a starting point.

System:

Windows 7

Microsoft Outlook

This problem has been going on for a while. Husband uses computer for work and although most emails arrive just fine sometimes he gets an email which arrives up to a day later than the time the sender sent it (as time-stamped on the email and as checked directly with the sender). It's not always the same sender, and the one sender can have emails that are sent both immediately or delayed. It must be something in the relay process. The most annoying thing about this, apart from the email being late, is that when it arrives it slots into it's chronological position rather than at the top of the list, and these emails sometimes then get missed as they are in between already-received and read emails.

This morning I also received such an email. I received emails from my mother at 6.01 and 6.04pm respectively last night, on time. This morning I received an email from a friend time-stamped 6.03pm - but it didn't come until this morning and it slotted in between the two emails from my mother last night. I have copied the headers below and it seems one of the servers is adding on some hours for some reason. Is this anything that can be done about this?

Hi Everyone,

A colleague of mine "Mary" is getting a scripting error in her Inbox whenever she looks at emails from one specific staff member ("Jill"). Jill is a genuine sender, the messages that she sends do not get moved into Mary's junk, and the content of the emails is business related (e.g.: not funnies, etc).

Mary is using a Windows 7 Professional (64 bit) box with Office Outlook 2010 (32 bit) installed. Additionally she is using Office 365, so emails are being sent / received from the "cloud". I don't think that the cloud itself is the issue, and Mary can open emails from all other staff members, and customers (literally hundreds of different senders) without issue.

I requested that Jill send the same emails through to me in the hope that I could replicate the issue on my computer - however upon receiving the emails I did not see a scripting error. This is quite puzzling and leads me to believe that the issue is on Mary's computer - however it is conceivable that it is a combination of settings on both Mary's & Jill's computers!!!

At any rate here is a screen shot of the scripting error:

Image of Scripting Error

It has been given to me on good authority that the issue is likely one of the Outlook plug-ins, however with literally tens of plug-ins installed I don't want to take "a stab in the dark" and make the situation worse.

This is an intermittent problem that started a few days ago - some emails from the same sender sent at the same time get through as normal then there are gaps in the list in my inbox where there is no sender, no subject and when I click on the email the content is in (HTML?) code.

It happens with different senders, to different email accounts - although they are all sent to BTinternet.com emails.

No problem sending emails, and when I checked by accessing the emails via webmail they were all perfect in that inbox.

I haven't changed any settings on my PC.

Thank you
Cat

I have noticed that some emails I open attempt to establish a connection with another server after opening the message, usually spam email (particularly html email). I can think of two reasons: first, html email sometimes has to retrieve an image/object from a server (why it wasn't embedded I don't know), or second, to report back to the sender that the email was opened, and thus verify that your email address is valid and active. I am interested in the second scenario. How is this done? Let me just say, I am NOT a spammer. (I just need to verify an email address for an old roommate who owes me some money, email is the only contact I have for him, and he doesn't respond to my emails, the bum). Is there a way I could write an email that, when opened, would send back a notice of some sort to the originating account? I am not interested in "receipts", because you can just refuse to send one back as easily as you can ignore the email.

Check around 15-20 seconds in the clip.  Anyone else has/had this issue? I have updated all the drivers and even did a clean widnows install which didn't help.

I am using Windows XP, and Outlook Express 8. I've recently been unable to attach photos to emails after resizing them. I right click on the photo I wish to send, then choose "send to email recipient". A box opens "make all my pictures smaller". I click "show more options", then, from "make my pictures this size", I choose "small". And then I click "OK".

A few weeks ago, at this point OE8 opened with the photo attached, all ready for me to fill in the address and type in a message. But now, nothing happens; OE8 doesn't open. Any ideas?

This is my first post. Excuse me if I haven't done it right.

My email client is Windows Live Mail (WLM) 2012. Every so often I receive an email with multiple cartoons or photos "in line" (i.e., embedded in the message pane). When I try to forward the email, all of the pix that were in the message pane become attachments, and where they were in the message pane is just the placeholder "X"s and any text that was under each pix. It effectively destroys the email.

Until recently, I was using WLM 2009 because it would not do that. But some features of WLM 2009, like the undo arrow, stopped working, so I installed 2012. I immediately made sure the Compose tab option "Convert messages to photo emails when adding photos" was UNchecked to prevent photos/pix of any kind being converted to attachments. It apparently does not prevent that from happening with all emails.

Anybody know how to force WLM to ALWAYS forward in-line photo/cartoon e-mails EXACTLY AS THEY WERE RECEIVED. . . with the pix in the message pane along with any text pertinent to them?

A friend sends me a lot of emails which contain photos. I can't see the photos, all that is displayed is a box with a small cross in it. I assumed that he is using a program that I don't have but he dosn't know enough about computers to understand what I mean when I ask what format he is using. I don't have this problem with any other emails

A:Can't Display Some Photos In Emails

Are you using a Windows machine ? If so do you use Outlook Express as your e-mail client ?

If so, open Outlook Express then go tools>options>security and if the box "do not allow to be opened or saved attachments that may contain a virus" is checked, uncheck it.

Try that as a first step, if it does not work come back.

I'm running the latest Firefox and Comcast mail on windows 2000 Pro SP3. I'm on Comcast hi-speed Internet. If I want to forward an email with a photo either in the body of the email or as an attachment to it, the photo sometimes transmits but when it doesn't, the photo is only a blank box with a border and a small symbol in the upper left corner. I've tried checking the box "send attached file" and omitting the check; nothing works. Separately, I've sent photos as .jpg files and they transmit OK. What am I doing wrong?

I receive emails (in Outlooks 2003) with photos included in the text as bmp files (not as attachments). I'd like to print them out as they are (ie without separately saving the photos etc). Any suggestions would be welcome.

Recently uploaded 8.1. Since that time any image embedded in an email is not visible. Makes no difference if it is gmail, aol, thunderbird.... I realize that some 'little button' probably is now checked/unchecked, but in trying to backtrack, I can't find where to go to to do this. Any help greatly appreciated....

When I got this computer with Windows 7, I had my old email account (from XP and Outlook Express) imported into the live mail, along with my gmail. I am having trouble inserting siggies or photos into emails that I send out now. I've just given up on it since having this new OS, but I want to see if anyone can help me.

I realize that I can go up to the top of a new email and "insert" and "single photo" and it will let me browse my folders. I then go to My Pictures, and to whichever subfolder I have there, and click on it and open it and it appears in the body of my message. What I DON'T like and don't want to use is the darned image with a line on the right side and across the bottom of whichever image I insert. What causes this? I hate it. I have tried taking various images and cropping them in Photobucket and save them again to the same folder, but it still inserts the same way!

Can someone help me with this please?
Thank you,
Jovin

This is one of Chrome's best features using Gmail, so if you have successfully installed Chrome and are using the new flash method Chrome has available it should work every time - ( and lightning fast at that).

See if you have these boxes checked in Gmail?
