Upgrade RAM for Pavillion x360

Q: Upgrade RAM for Pavillion x360

I currently have 6 GB of RAM in my Pavillion x360 m3-u001dx but read it can be upgraded up to 12GB. I have read other posts and it seems not that difficult to do. Can anyone please tell me if that is possible with this unit and what kind of parts I would need. Thank you for your time. Product name:HP Pavilion x360 m3 Convertible

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I have a Pavillion 13 x 360 notebook PC which is just over a year old (out of warranty!) and the battery is not holding charge and message comes up saying storage capacity of battery is low and may need repacing. Apart from the fact that a duff battery after one year seems very bad, I cannot find where to purchase a repalcement anywhere. I have the part numbers and serial numbers of the PC and the battery, but after much searching on the HP website and all over the web, no luck. Battery p/n is NP03043XL Please help.

I bought an HP Pavillion x360, after 14 days it had already shown a blue screen three different times with the error code, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I returned that computer and had it replaced under a warranty, and the same thing is now happening on the new computer. This shouldn't be happening on a brand new $800 computer. Does anyone else have the same problem. Have you been able to resolve it?

A:IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL HP Pavillion x360

"This error usually occurs after the installation of a buggy device driver, system service, or BIOS." https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms854226.aspx Evidently there is a buggy driver, use HP Support Assistant to look for newer drivers and install them.

Hello, Trying to do some upgrades to my x360, but can't seem to get a straight answer anywhere as to what is in this thing. HP doesn't even have this model on their website. HP Pavillion x360 model "M3-u001dx" bought at best buy. Came with 6gb ram, 1 2gb and 1 4gb sticks, & a toshiba 500gb 2.5in HDD. I want to upgrade the HDD first with an SSD, and found out the hard way after I opened it up it needs a thin 7mm HDD. I also saw some models have m.2 slots, and can't find out if this model does or not. if it suppots NVMe (I'd guess no) I'd prefer to go that route. Again, I can't find a straight answer. I didn't see RAM slots when I had keyboard up, but wasn't looking for them. Are the bays under the motherboard? If so, are they infact, upgradable, and if so to what capacity? I ran the Crucial computer identifier and it told me it can take up to 16gb. Other plaes say RAM isn't upgradable. There just isn't any concrete information about this specific model, maybe it's a special best buy thing that has a few differnt options. I have an asus laptop that was kind of the same. If anyone can shed some light before I try to pull apart this thing again I'd really appreciate it. Thanks,Aaron

A:Specifics on HP Pavillion x360 Model

Hi, I believe HP Pavilion x360 m3-uxxxdx models/products are the cheaper versions of the x360 series specially for Best Buy. Machines only have one option for storage call single configurations (single M.2 or single HDD/SSD). Supports M.2 SATASupports optional SATA 2.5?in HDDs (7mm)Single SSD configuration:? M.2 SATA DRAM?less: 128 GBSingle HDD/SSHD configurations:? 1 TB 5400?rpm, 7.2mm? 500 GB 5400?rpm, 7mm SSHD with 8 GB NAND? 500 GB 5400?rpm, 7.2mm That means your model does not have M.2 slot for SSD. You can alsy use 2.5" SSD to replace the existing HDD. I used to swap RAM and HDD within 5 to 10 mins but with new design this can take hours and very risky without right tools that whay all works are for  HP authorized service provider parts. RAM slots are covered by a shield you can remove them but again very risky that why it actually says on-board. It supports Support DDR4?2133 Dual ChannelSupports up to 16?GB maximum on?board system memoryDDR4?2133 Dual Channel Support? 16384 MB (8192 MB × 2 pieces)? 12288 MB (8192 MB + 4096 MB)? 8192 MB (4096 MB × 2 pieces)? 8192 MB (8192 MB × 1)? 6144 MB (2048 MB + 4096 MB)? 4096 MB (4096 MB × 1) Regards.

Now, when I try to boot it goes to the grub menu, but then when I try to start it, I just get a black screen with an underscore in the top left corner. I've tried 3 different usb drives, tried booting different distros (Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian and Fedora), disabled secure boot in BIOS and tried legacy BIOS. It seems to me that it's a BIOS issue. I'm currently on F.35 Rev.A BIOS and when I try to rollback it shows the same version that is already installed. I downloaded the F.32 Rev.A BIOS file from the HP website, but when I try to install that it says "Unable to open BIOS signature file."

A:Pavillion x360 mother board replacement

Here is the Manual: Service Manual There are 4 different AMD motherboard depending on if you have the A8 processor or the A6 and Windows Standard or Pro. Get the same Windows version as you have or you will have to buy another copy of Windows. Your hard drive installation of Windows will not activate unless you install a motherboard set up for the same OS version. Post back if you need a more detailed explanation. Yours is a CTO laptop so we cannot just look up your original factory specs. You can interchange the A6 and A8 version of the motherboard with the caveat stated above. The Manual shows the "how-to" on replacement. Assuming you have the A8 and Windows Standard this is the part number: 769075-501 This is it on US amazon.com for $109 which is a pretty fair price: https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-Convertible-Motherboard-769075-501/dp/B0118AZL1S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UT... Post back with any more questions.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Hi, Yes but most likely you have to send back to India to claim warranty "HP Global Warranty covers HP products at the level of standard warranty offered in the country in which it is used. For example, a product purchased in country "A" and moved to country "B" receives the current warranty coverage provided by country "B" (if that product is marketed or supported in country B)." More information:       http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bpr01266 Regards.

Oooook. I have had my laptop for about a year and decided to give it to my mother after replacing it with a Mac. I thought I'd restore it to factory settings before doing so. The laptop initially came with windows 8 and I updated it to windows 10. So I wiped it to new keeping windows 10 and all was well. I put it away and the next day went to install itunes on it and upon booting up got the CMOS checksum invalid error. I pushed enter to continue booting... then (eventually) another error stating Primary (internal) battery (601).  I have now spent HOURS going through guides and forums to aboslutely NO avail. I have done the following:  Run diagnostics - which say "Primary Battery: Unknown" I have updated the bios using windows key + BI factory restored the laptop going back from windows 10 to 8 after reading some had issues post update thinking MAYBE that would help... nope. I can't run calibration because the laptop acts like there is no battery installed. I have a flashing white light whlie the laptop is on but never the amber light indicating charging. The power indicator states "plugged in not charging" This model is sealed, so unplugging the battery isn't happening (unless buying a new one is the for sure and only solution since I'm not wasting time and money for a pointless fix... which from what I've read in forums seems to happen often enough that I'm skeptical)The laptop powers on and functions normally (despite a... I was doing the initial setup for my new X360 pavilion when I left it unattended for 5 mins. When I left it, it was just past the part where it asked it I wanted to enable location. During the 5 mins it was unattended, my little brother picked up the computer and accidentally turned it off. He told me he promptly turned it back on, and now the laptop has just been circling for 3 hours. All I see is the name I gave the computer, an outline of a person in white on a grey circle, and just dots buffering around and around in a circle. Sometimes the screen flashes black, and it goes back to the screen I just described. Should I be worried that my bothersome sibling messed up the setup?

hi all,I've been fixing a laptop touch screen for a customer this past week, and I managed to get the exact same glass replacement which is the official Hewlett - Packard glass for the screen and installed nicely into the casing (bar the minor scuffs around the bezel lip)..And it works, although the image is the revese or mirror of it when u touch it now, so touch on the left and it does it on the right. The digitizer is the same! I never replaced or changed the digitizer and i can only put it down to that being faulty or a driverIve tried updating drivers which it gives me only the 2006 HID compliant driver which is like 10 years out of date.. This is via the Microsoft Update option. Are there any upto date drivers on this site as im not seeing any??i mean an 11 year old touch screen driver is a little bit out dated when running a main part of a very expensive laptop, dont you think?!?I have scoured high and low , asked everyone i know, collegues and friends around the world and even the company that sold me the glass told me to contact HP and they will sort it for me. I'm finding this not to be the case..Can anyone shed some light on how I can get it to work as my client is getting a little bit upset with the fact i fixed his laptop but now the screen works in reverse. lol, has to be the most bizarre and stupid thing i've come across and ive been a technician for around 10 years..so please , please, please someone point me in the right direction. A:Pavillion X360 (11-k152sa) Touch screen reversed

Just to add..... Ive also updated the F.44 Bios and that didnt change a thing either. Now then, Im guessing that where the digitizer is connected it's doing something odd OR..... i have put the cable in the wrong way around which seem's nigh on impossible as the connector on the micro ribbon (which looks like a 4 band/Pin micro ribbon cable) will not connect that way up or at least the pins don't look like they do on the digitizer. If it is possible to do this as It does mean Taking apart the screen once more Can Anyone or HP confirm this could be the case and im just being a fool in not realising it was as simple as that... (which is obviously isn't lol)Im very much at the point of sending this back to the client and telling them to send it back to HP as even at my level of technology savvy-ness this jsut seems ridiculous and I really cant see how or why this would occur. Hi, recently I purchased a Pavillion 15-bc018nl (X7H34EA#ABZ).I want to upgrade it with a secondary hard drive using the M.2 port (empty) but I was unable to find the right type of M.2 device (Sata or Pcie).According to the "HP Pavilion Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide" these are the possible configurations:  but still I have no clue of what kind of M.2 ssd should I buy...Is the internal M.2 port SATA or PCIe?I have heard also that in some cases the M.2 port is not enabled. So my question is: how can I know if the M.2 port is enabled and which M.2 SSD is compatible with it?  Thanks very much for the help!

A:Upgrade M.2 SSD to Pavillion 15-bc018nl

Compatibility is the easy part. From the Service Manual, p. 2 we see that both SATA and PCI-e M.2 drives are supported: Manual Whether the M.2 will work is a guessing game. There is a very long thread here about some of the issues and I don't know if yours is one of the problem models. If you want us to see if your model is being mentioned as one of the ones with the disabled port we can, but the list does not seem to be static.

HP Pavillion 8485Z.

I've tried a couple of different things here.

When upgrading from a plain disk (no OS) or when booting from the XP upgrade CD (with or without OS). The application loads some stuff and then proclaims "Setup is starting windows" and there it sits forever.

When launching it from the system with Win98 installed, it tells me that the CD is for upgrade only (in spite of what the written instructions say) and that it can't install because it can't find C:\Windows\WINNT32\Win9xUPG\W95UPG.DLL. Never mind that Win98 doesn't have a WINNT directory.

So what's the next step? Do I create this directory and attempt to find the DLL and copy it to it?

Hello.I would like to upgrade CPU in my Pavillion DV6 1330 ec. Is it possible to change my Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 with Intel Core 2 Duo T9900, Intel Core 2 Extreme X9100 or maybe Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300 (quad core) ? Do I have to change cooling system or stock one is sufficient?  My current configuration:CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2,53GHzRAM: 2x2GB DDR3GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GBHDD: Samsung EVO 850 SSDWindows 10 64bit Thanks in advance for answers.

A:Pavillion DV6 1330 ec CPU upgrade

Here is the Service manual:  Manual Intel® Core?2 Duo T9900 3.06-GHz with 6-MB L2 cache and 1066-MHz front side bus (FSB)Intel® Core?2 Duo T9800 2.93-GHz with 6-MB L2 cache and 1066-MHz front side bus (FSB)Intel Core2 Duo T9600 2.80-GHz with 6-MB L2 cache and 1066-MHz FSB Those are your upgrade options and any of the above would be a major improvement. The T9800 and T9900 in particular are extremely strong. Equal to most 2d gen Core i5 processors in my opinion. The market knows that, however, and those processors tend to be hard to find and pricey. The T9600 is only a little less powerful and much more widely available and cheaper. The "X" model processors are a no-go.  let us know if you need more help.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

I have just recieved my HP Pavillion 15t-bc000 in the mail today. I have an old DV6 that died and it has extra RAM that I put in it that I want to put into my new Pavillion. However, I have no idea how to do it. My old DV6 has a panel on the bottom that you can unscrew in order to easily access the RAM, wireless card, and hard drive. My new 15t-bc000 does not seem to have such a cover on the bottom. In fact, there isn't any cover on the bottom at all. It appears that I have to somehow revove the entire bottom shell just to get to the RAM or to remove the battery if I ever had to do so, but I'm not sure if that's even possible. Can I not put in more RAM into my new computer?

A:HP pavillion 15t-bc000 RAM upgrade

Hi, The first thing to consider is that the hardware change may affect the warranty on your new laptop, the second is that 15t-bc000 uses specified memory is not compatible with the dv6 laptop RAM. Manualhttp://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05117922

A:RAM upgrade HP pavillion dv6 2140el

It's that i7 first generation machine and is very finicky about memory. It will take 8 gigs but the proper memory is actually DDR3-1066 also known as PC3-8500.  Memory modules, PC3, 1066-MHz FSB ? 4096-MB 579156-001 http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-2x4GB-DDR3-Laptop-Memory/dp/B001UNI80A/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1464004... If this is the memory you installed: http://www.macmall.com/p/Kingston-DIMM-Memory/product~dpno~13790966~pdp.baadcedd It is high density 4 black blocks per side and there is all kind of documentation of issues with it on your model series.  The memory must have 8 black blocks per side (low density) to play nice with the HP.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

I'll put it simply. When I bought my current PC I didn't intend to use it for gaming at all, so I just bought a basic off the shelf PC. I kind of always assumed I could just upgrade it myself later on if I really wanted to.

On a whim I decided to root out the old 6800 Ultra from my last computer and put in in my current PC which just runs integrated GeForce 9100. Figured even an out of date card is better then nothing right?

Turns out there's no where even to plug the damn thing into when I cracked open my PC

Now I'm not wildly tech savy, so maybe technology has just changed more then I realized and modern chip sets are just smaller then my Ultra. I googled around a bunch though and while I couldn't find much about my system in particular I did learn that there are HP packages out there that you can't really upgrade at all

So I was hoping someone who knows what they're talking about might be able to help me out here. Is my PC pretty much "what it is" or can I upgrade it in some way? Or did I just choose poorly when I bought this computer? (ugh, and to think I was going to build a PC from scratch, for the first time, before my last computer kind of exploded and I decided to just rush out and buy a shelf box so that's I'd have something on short notice)

A:Is it possible to upgrade the GPU on a HP Pavillion a6702f PC?

The specs show that it has a pci-e 16x slot for a video card.
Yes, technically it is possible however you have other issues to address;

1 Power supply. Big box systems like dell, hp, etc ship with a pw supply that is just enough to power the system as shipped. There is very little left for any upgrades that use more power ie video card.

2 Cooling. A gaming card is going to generate heat. You need to make sure your case has adequate cooling.

FWIW big box systems are not really upgradeable in any real sense. You can install more ram or maybe a larger hard drive however if you want to install a gaming card or more modern cpu, you are usually out of luck.

Here is the link to your specs. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...ry&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=ca&lang=en&product=3872323
