Preferred Solution: DCOM timeout Error.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

hi,
i've read dozens of threads here and elsewhere where windows 10 users have lost their start menu, lost their store app, lost the ability to open all store apps, or lost cortana. these all seem to stem from the 1511 update. i am familiar with all the troubleshooting steps listed on these threads, and they have all been unsuccessful for me. changing registry permissions, NTFS permissions on WindowsApps etc for the All Application Packages user, system restore etc.

i have 5 machines all with clean windows 10 installs. these are Windows 10 Pro "N" installs on various hardware. 4 of the machines are joined to AzureAD and my win 10 tablet is not joined to any domain or AzureAD. the tablet is the only one that can play xbox games. since the 1511 update, the other 4 have lost the ability to open games, they crash immediately with DCOM error 10010 The server App did not register with DCOM within the required timeout. and a corresponding "Apps" application log entry: "Activation of application Microsoft.HaloSpartanAssault2_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App failed with error: The app didn't start. See the Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log for additional information." i am certain that a re-install will result in the same problems because i have replicated identical behaviour on 4 independent machines. the definition of stupidity now would be to reinstall the OS and expect it to be any different!

i can confirm that the start menu store works fine, i ... Read more

Hi,
Where should I start, to find out, why some of my domain joned PC's throw this kind of error about same time or few seconds before users shut down their computers? Everything seems to working normal but this error is bit annoying. Google gives me nothing.
I know that this GUID is related to "Shell hardware mixed content handler" but thats all.

I'm having some issues with hibernation and logging off.
I've got some errors in the event log I'm going through but I can't seem to fix this one...
DistributedCOM, EventID 10010
"The server {AB8902B4-09CA-4BB6-B78D-A8F59079A8D5} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout."
{AB8902B4-09CA-4BB6-B78D-A8F59079A8D5} appears to belong to "Thumbnail Cache Out of Proc Server" DCOM entry. I was hoping I could fix using dcomcnfg.exe but everything is greyed out, even when using the full administrator
account.
I'm probably barking up the wrong tree but I tried to follow
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/899965/en-us and got stuck due to the lack of permissions to edit so tried to follow

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprosecurity/thread/4f63ee11-e472-40f9-85db-a6b235d7579c but got stuck as I can't find comuid.dl_ on the Windows 7 install disk.
Any other help would be gratefully received.
This PC is connected to a Windows Home Server if that may make any difference.

Hi,

If this error didn’t occur previously, a quick solution is to run System Restore and get back to the previous good status.

If System restore doesn’t help. Please also try the following:

1.
Ensure all updates have been applied on the Windows 7 computer.

2.
Run the following command in an elevated command prompt to check if there is any system file corrupted:

sfc /scannow

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

A:DCOM [10005] - DCOM got error "%1058"

Hi,Your system is severly infected. Problem with these infections nowadays is, it causes a lot of damage. Even if we clean the malware off your system, I can't guarantee that your system will be clean afterwards, because these infections/bundles leave a lot of leftovers behind that most scanners won't even recognise and logs won't show. Also, I can't promise you we can repair all the damage it caused... Even after cleaning the malware, you can still get errors afterwards because of the damage. Solving these is not always possible since it will be searching for a needle in a haystack to find the right cause and solution. So, we can try to clean this up and do what we can, but keep in mind that we can't solve ALL problems this malware already caused. In light of this it would be wise for you to back up any files and folders that you don't want to lose before we start. Reason I am telling this is because when a system is so terribly infected and we try to clean this up manually, the damage that is already present may interfere with our removal attempts. * Please visit this webpage for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofixPost the log from ComboFix in your next reply.

I posted this earlier but reposted this and erased the old thread because I have more information now and have narrowed down the problem (I hope).

This problem just happened yesterday after I had to manually shut down (used power button) my computer after it froze. Now when I try to load up IE, it "halfway" opens up (you can see parts of the interface) and just freezes. I thought maybe it was an IE problem, but if I try to load up Firefox (even without loading up IE first), nothing happens -- it won't load. I load up the Task Manager and firefox.exe is there as a process even though it hasn't loaded. The only way I did figure out to surf the net is to load up "My Computer" and enter a web address from there manually. But even when I do that, if I click on any link that opens up a new window, IE will try loading that new window up which freezes. Right after this happened, I get a "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services Error" (still do every now and then. I also d/l'd the "patch" for this from Microsoft's website to no avail) which says something about svchost.exe and some other exe's. I think it has something to do with networking because I loaded up "Event Viewer" from the Control Panel and I managed to track down the error I get *each* time my computer starts up These errors I get are *all* dated right after I had to manually shutdown the computer and when the problems began. recently (about 2 weeks back) i have been receiving 1 of 2 error messages either dcom server process launcher terminated unexpectadly or plug and play terminated unexpectadly, when these messages occur (usually every2-2 1/2 hours) im given a 1 minute countdown at the end of this countdown my computer restarts. while this doesn't seem to be harming my computer it is amazingly annoying, also if i go on yahoo search and look for a item i click on a link and im redirected to an advertising site: this occurs every 3 out of 4 clicks of said link. i have tried every antivirus software i own norton antivirus, malicous removal tool, windows defender, and malwarebytes nothing has worked every scans shows no infection. im not the only one having this problem several sites and forums i have visited has people with the same or similar problem which has happened to them in roughly the same time frame. if anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it because so far my only option would be to reformat my computer and reinstall every thing and i would really like to avoid that. please help me bleeping computer your my only hope.

A:Timeout error!

Check loose connections. For me, that error mesage looks like the interface has lost communication with the unit. As you don't mention which brand the unit is, I can't give you more details... Post reply if you can.

This started happening exactly on January 11th, 2014. I should have asked for help earlier, I know, but it hasn't gotten this bad until now. When it first happened, it gave the "Windows must now restart because the DCOM Server Process/Plug and Play terminated unexpectedly" or something along the lines of that every 5 minutes or so, and forcibly restarted my computer. After installing MBAM and running a few quick scans, I cleared all the threats that came up, and the Plug and Play error ceased to exist. However, the DCOM error still popped up every 1-4 hrs (it was very random, and rudely interrupted me in the middle of writing an essay or something.) After a few months, a new error popped up saying "Windows will now restart in 1 minute." It basically had the same effect as the DCOM error. Just today, it has started popping up 5-10 min after boot, and has been VERY annoying. I downloaded Kaspersky's TDSSKiller and scanned my computer, and a suspicious file came up saying "Dcomlaunch". After finding the file location, it was rpcss.dll from the Windows/System32 folder. The only thing I can infer from this is the dll must be corrupted or infected. I don't know what to do with this.  Please help me fix my computer ASAP!

A:timeout error using nero burning rom

Hi – welcome to the board.

Easy solution – skip the stupid simulation. You only have a problem if you can’t write a CD. You don’t necessarily have a problem if you can’t do a test burn. There doesn’t seem to be any relationship between a successful simulation and a successful burn, so most people learn to just skip the test and go straight to the burn.

Make sure your Nero is up to date: http://www.nero.com/en/download.htm and go to your burner manufacturer’s site and get the latest firmware.

Hi everyone!

First of all, I was not quite sure of the forum's section where I should post this issue. Please relocate it if i made a mistake! :) I hope someone will be able to help!

Description of the problem. A few weeks ago, Chrome started having trouble accessing websites. It would load the results of a search, but wouldn't allow to load the websites themselves. Soon, the same thing happened on Firefox, the only other browser I currently have. After some time, none of them even loaded the results of a search; despite the fact that the connection (wi-fi) is, and has always been, very good. I don't know exactly what triggered the problem; since i haven't downloaded anything of a suspicious origin lately (or opened a suspicious .exe). Features of other programs that require an internet connection (ex: Avast or Steam updates) cannot proceed either. I tried to connect to several boxes, but the problem remained.

Here are the things I did to try to solve it, and the results:

- Turned off and on the box. --> Access to the sites came back to normal, but only during two hours or so: after that the connection timed out again. Restarting the box again did nothing.

- Ran a boot-time scan with Avast, and a full scan. --> It did nothing.

- Did some cleaning with CC Cleaner. --> Didn't help either.

- Used my phone as a hot-spot, and connected my PC to it. --> Access to websites came back during two hours, then stopped working.

I'm getting a timeout error when using Universal Virus Sniffer to check for active file infections. I'm not sure how this is supposed to work but it downloads a randomly named file to:

C:\Users\Chris\Desktop\Toolbox 2\Universal Virus Sniffer\random.exe

The file does launch as shown by the process log:

However nothing happens and I get a Timeout error message.

I've tried a few times hence different file names are shown in the screenshots.

I've tried disabling anything that I can think of that could be interfering with this file. Disabled Firewall, Auto-Sandboxing and other stuff.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to resolve this?

A:Timeout error when launching a file

After running a ProcMon capture I see the following:

Inspection of the folder reveals that "C:\Users\Chris\Desktop\Toolbox 2\Universal Virus Sniffer\ui" does not exist even after reinstalling the software. If I create a folder named ui will that solve the issue?

EDIT: That didn't work!

I'm currently trying to run a query on SQL Server and i'm continuing to get a timeout error. I'm new to SQL Server 2000 and i've gone onto the help menu and changed the Query timeout to 0 which apparently means inifinty.

The specific error I'm getting is:

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL server driver]Timeout expired

I am running this query from enterprise manager and i currently only have the Evaluation version which is being run off of Windows XP Professional.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

I appreciate any help anyone can give me on this problem. I used to be able to access a website http://www.packratwiki.com just fine. In the past 4 days though I have been unable to access it. I have tried using IE and Firefox on my desktop computer using XP. I also tried to access it from my laptop which has Vista using our wireless network with no luck. The only thing different I have done to my computer was add an external drive for storage. I have unplugged and uninstalled that though.

Firefox:

* Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computer's network connection.
* Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.

So I have recently bought a new GPU for my pc build, (AMD R9 290), fitted it and installed all the newest drivers since having fitted it the PC keeps on powering down and rebooting. Three times in one night etc. It's not under and load or at any specific point, can do it at idle it just seems to be completely random. Event log says this every time;
"A fatal hardware error has occurred.

Component: AMD Northbridge
Error Source: Machine Check Exception
Error Type: HyperTransport Watchdog Timeout Error
Processor ID: 0"

As the GPU was new and a big step up from previous I thought it could possibly be the PSU, so since bought a Corsair 850W psu (over specced) but wanted to make sure it would be okay.
Error is still happening obviously.
I have updated to the latest BIOS from the asus website. I have done a memory check using memtest 86 all fine.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the GPU but still the same problem.
Processor is AMD FX-4170 not over clocked, I just dont know what the problem could be.
I was hoping if any of you guys could shed any light on it.
Any response would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance!
(hope it all makes sense I have typed this quickly in fear of it rebooting haha!)
Can upload the mini dumps if that will help.
Thanks guys!

A:HyperTransport Watchdog Timeout Error

Check your voltage that your cpu is getting. This problem occurs between the AMD Northbridge and the cpu. Find out a) What the voltage that the cpu is supposed to be receiving, b) what the actual voltage the cpu is receiving via the BIOS, and c) if the voltage is off either set it to the recommended specs and if that isn't the case edge up the voltage in the BIOS and see if that brings stability.

I have installed Nero 6 (v6.3.0.0) on my computer running Windows Me.

I can listen to audio CD's, write audio CD's, copy from one data CD to another, and read software data from a CD.

But when I try to write data to a CD, the process starts but then hangs. My hard disk access light stays on all the time and the light on the CD drive flashes. After about 2 mins the Nero log tells me there is a timeout error.

Because the process doesn't go to normal end of job I don't get any log from the program.

The data I want to write are jpg files, but the same thing happens when I try to write a small Word document. I have tried it with and without my anti-virus, but it makes no difference. I tried creating a mixed disk of audio and data. The audio was written OK, but the data hung the system.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Various HDDs from older systems, one of which still has Win 8 installed.

Upon boot, I get one of three issues occuring.

1) BSOD with the watchdog timeout error
2) An 0xc000000e error
3) system locks up at Windows logo with spinning ring, just after the start page loads, or while using the system within 5 minutes of startup.

I have tried installing and re-installing windows to the SSD multiple times. The furthest I have gotten was setting up my Windows account. hey, i was wondering if someone could help me out a little here. i have recently set up a new XP system and every now and then it becomes unstable and wont do respond correctly, so i have to switch off and on again (shut down wont work). I checked my event viewer and it seems to be something to do with DCOM as everytime the computer has become unstable, i have three or four error entries under DCOM. here is the error:

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I found a microsoft article here:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290398

but i cannot make sense of the resolution, i do not know wheree the list of application servers that it is talking about is. It is event ID 1003 and it is listed in the above article.

if anyone could help me out in anyway i'd be very grateful. Thanks

I have a reocurring sytem reboot issue. Every 1 to 3 hours my system blue screens and reboots. Insanely annoying!

I am running windows xp service pack 3 on a HP AMD machine.

The error message in the system log is always the same save the server address.

The server {209500FC-6B45-4693-8871-6296C4843751} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

Here is what I have done so far but with no luck.

After reboot, Windows tells me he shut down was a driver issue and to update my drivers.
I did that and even purchased "Driver Robot" from Bltizware to help me identify what drivers I am missing, yet the problem still continues.

After reading several posts from this website, there seemed to be some indication that this error was caused by Malware, so I purchased "Spyware Doctor" from PCTOOLS, yet the problem still continues.

So I am out of options and I have researched the problem to the best my abilities so now its time to ask for help.
