Last try to sync Outlook and iCloud contacts

Q: Last try to sync Outlook and iCloud contacts

Yep, I've been trying for over 12 months to get my contacts in MS Office 365 to sync with iCloud contacts!

I have Googled the world, been there dun that with never-ending suggestions but am no closer to solving the problem, assuming it is solvable!

I've been into iCloud contacts, Selected All contacts, exported as a Vcard, imported into Outlook but all it does out of 165 contacts is the very first one but ........ the saved Vcard file happily says 165 contacts contained herein, but there ain't, just the very first one starting with an A.

Maybe it can only be done one by one and not as a Group?

I vaguely recall way back in earlier Windows versions - like 5+ years ago - I had no problem with it then, so maybe I'm missing a step but trust me, I have tried every single trick suggested to me, all to no avail!

MS says "its easy....... yeh!

Any advice much appreciated!

Hi (again) guys and my apologies for yet again raising this saga that is driving me nuts!

Trust me, I have Googled the earth and tried every recommendation there is to solve the above issue that has been plaguing me ever since I stoopidly paid for the Office 365 suite!

I've gone to iCloud x Contacts x Settings x "Select All" as in blocking all the names, created an Export vCard, and that lets me save the file with it's 167 contacts to the desktop quite OK, data size looks about right, but then there is no way I can IMPORT it into MS Outlook 365!

The vCard file says there are the 167 contacts in there so it would appear the export bit is working OK, I guess?

Prior to 365, I had no problem for years and years so kind of know how to set it all up on my PC, devices and iCloud - or I thought I did - but this one has me well and truly beaten!

As an aside, I also seem to be having trouble syncing my Apple iPad and iPhone with the Cloud as well but I re-downloaded the latter again on my PC, checked all my device settings are set right and ........... getting nowhere!

Any advice short of harikari much appreciated!

Hello knowledgeable ones:

Until last week I was using outlook 2003, an older versions of itunes, and an ipod, and was able to back up my outlook contacts and calender through itunes and right to the ipod, no problem.

Now, however, I have had to upgrade everything so they can handshake correctly. This has meant going to Outlook 2007, the latest itunes, an iphone 5, and the icloud. My entire goal is to have the contacts in outlook match the contacts in both the cloud and the phone.

In using the icloud control on both of these, I now have the following: a variety of calenders in my outlook with names like calender in icloud, home in icloud, and my calender, all in lovely pastel shades. The phone has one calendar with only the occasionally dupes on a given date.

The phone, however, is a disaster, with as many as three dupes of the same name. Looking at Outlook, I have a slew of contacts, some dupes, many that I though i had deleted from outlook. Also two categories of contacts, icloud and my contacts, with sub-directories in each. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw that the contacts tab under my contacts was completely blank following a sync to the cloud, only to then find the other five versions, which, of course, I would like to have agree with each other. The icloud interface on line shows dupe contacts as well.

I understand that one person may not have all the answers to all the parts of this; I am on an iphone forum as well, trying to figure ... Read more

I currently use Outlook 2010 because I have a paid license but I'm willing to upgrade.

This works Ok with iCloud but what I don't like is that I can't make my icloud calendar the default in Outlook so I don't get reminders on my PC. What I end up doing is manually copying critical appointments from my icloud calendar to my Outlook default calendar if I want to be sure to get a reminder on my PC!. This isn't ideal though. Does anyone have a better solution? I read that the latest Outlook 2016 doesn't sync at all so I can't upgrade Office. I wish MS and Apple would decide to work together instead of trying to defeat each other!!

I believe icloud will sync with windows 10 mail and calendar apps - is that true?

I've also heard of emclient being good but haven't tried it.

I'd really appreciate any input.

How can you sync Outlook 2003 contacts between 4 computers on a small home network?

A:Sync Outlook contacts

Hi there, welcome to the board!

Well, you could point them all to the same pst file. Or you could just export the data (File | Export...) on the main machine, and then import on the other 3. Not sure what else you're going for. The export/import is probably the easiest way, because you can specify just the contacts on export. But doing it that way will not export updates. On the other hand, if you did have updates you could do the export/import cycle again, and then on import just select to update values (do what you want with duplicates).

BUT 365 on the windows 8 PC)
Each time when i tried to import the file , i got an error mesage that the server did not support the import
i cant remember the exact message - but would just like to be able to sync - outlook (the program) contacts across PCs using the same outlook.com account (hotmail.co.uk)

It seems that Microsoft has done away with the PAB (Personal Address Book) file in Outlook 2007. I wish to sync the Outlook 2007 Contacts on two different PCs that are on the same network, so a change or addition on either one will also be reflected in the other. Neither PC uses an Exchange Server; they are clients for Google's gMail service.

I have been using Google Mail to take care of my business and personal email and recently began using Outlook 2016 in order to work offline efficiently. The IMAP features are doing a good job of managing my mailboxes and messages between my desktop and laptop computer but I need a way to synchronize the ever changing contacts list between those machines.
Does anyone out here use syncing software or tools? I've found plenty but they aren't easy to sift through. The main feature I need is to be able to sync by way of the cloud since I'm not in a network situation.
And not to shame any companies, but if the software developer begins with a 4, that doesn't even open up on Windows 10 and I can't get a hold of them except by e-mail, which recommends that I get a hold of them.
Now, I have seen utilities that will sync my Gmail contacts with Outlook but I can't tell from the text if that's an ongoing sync each time I open Outlook as is the case with IMAP mailboxes. If this method keeps my contacts up to date using Gmail as the central store point for both computers, then I'm good.

I can't believe I can't find the answer to this dilemma, which I've tried to solve for years. Hoping someone might have some insights. I have my own business, and keep a Contacts table in Access 2013. I also have a Contacts folder in Outlook 2013 that I want to keep in sync with my database. Sometimes changes are made in Outlook (or using GSyncit to sync with Google on my phone or tablet) and sometimes when entering service calls in Access. When I go to created a "linked table" from Outlook to Access, I get a separate table of contacts that will not sync with my existing table. Every week, I have to literally export Access data to an Excel CSV and import into Outlook, then go through name by name to choose the latest entry to keep. Ridiculous! I've googled and googled, and I have found no joy. Any ideas??

I have an interesting request from a client and don't see the answer anywhere. She is running Windows 7 on her laptop, and uses Outlook 2010. She has two user accounts on the PC--one for her personal use and one for her business. Two different Outlook profiles, with each coming up for the corresponding login. She would like to be able to sync the Contacts folders between these two user accounts, so if she adds a contact to Outlook on one user, it will show up when she logs in to the other. The only solution I have been able to come up with is to use import/export to make sure all contacts are listed in both profiles. This part is easy. It is the addition or deletion of contacts in sync that has me baffled. Any ideas?

Hi everyone!

What is the best way to sync my emails, contacts, and calendar with my Outlook 2010 (win7 pc), iPhone, and iPad2?

Basically, I want to send/receive emails to all devices, and update my calendar and contacts on my Outlook, and then have my iOS devices update automatically be synced with my Outlook contacts and calendar, and vice versa.

I've used Microsoft Exchange in the past to do this, but it seems like over kill... and it's a little overcomplicated for me. I was hoping I could just do all this with Gmail, but it seems that I need MS Exchange to do it that way too.

Any help and advice is very appreciated!!!

I've tried the following from Yahoo help and it does not work. BUT, I'm not using the generic Yahoo.com email but rather ATT/Yahoo where everything sits on an ATT email server. It all syncs perfectly with a client like Outlook, or eMClient, but now trying to use the ATT encouraged Yahoo webmail. I am running iCloud on multiple PC's. Everything was fine until I had it running on two 8.1 PC's, then I started having problems.

In total, iCloud was running on one Win 7 Pro PC and two Windows 8.1 PC's. My theory is that the two Windows 8.1 PC's were syncing via iCloud and Skydrive (or Onedrive) which is set up by default. But they were able to read each other's settings okay. But Win 7 doesn't have the same sync settings, so the bookmarks were being written in 8.1 and then multiplying in Win 7.

I'm not sure, but this is my theory. Running on all Win 7 is okay. Running on all Win 8.1 seems okay. But combining the two OS's with iCloud seems to cause some problems.

Anyone have any ideas on this?

I am running outlook 7 windows 7.

In the past, the problem was that the send date above emails in the to send folder said "none" and the email topic was bold faced, and not regular in italics. It will not send.

I resolved this [and SHOULD HAVE WRITTEN IT DOWN] by going to the trust center and I believe disabling the icloud item.

HOWEVER: subsequent to all this, I finally figured out how to sync my outlook calender [not outlook contacts, cloud contacts and iphone5 phone contacts are synced.

HOWEVER, the original problem is back, and windows shows that only calendar in icloud is synced, not "calendar" and not whatever "calendar from icloud in icloud" [just uncheck both and I eliminate dupes]

IF i start screwing around in the trust center and disabling the "icloud outlook ad-in", which I know played a role in getting the send to work, will I eliminate that "calendar in icloud" that continues to works so well? And if so, how do I get it back to sync with iphone 5?

A:How to fix a send issue WITHOUT screwing up my sync to icloud

Like you I am running Outlook 7 under Windows 7, 64 bit, and have version 3, the latest, for the iCloud control panel. And, like you, I have long ceased to attempt any kind of sync for anything other than the calender. If you go into the trust center and disable the icloud add in outlook will cease to sync with icloud. Indeed, only yesterday I ran a test: I added an appointment to my iphone and it did not appear on my outlook calendar. I had disabled the icloud add in before it was the only way to get anything to send from the outbox. As soon as I re enabled it the appointment appeared, only now I had the email issue.

It is interesting to note that when I went into the account settings in outlook to be sure the problem wasn't there, I was able to send the test message without issue, so it have to believe that all my pop server numbers are correct and the problem lies with the add in. Apple support blame Microsoft, who blames Apple. As with this entry, no almost a year old, I have never gotten any answers from this forum.

Should you have learned how to handle the issue, please let me know.

I will start at the beginning, it has been a frustrating couple of days since I had to reformat my hard drive.

I reformatted and reinstalled Windows XP Pro sp1. I put the Microsoft firewall up to get the MS updates, and then I reinstalled Norton. I have a bug in my system that seems to be contained, for now that is.

I reinstalled office XP, and then i downloaded the update (SP3). I am not getting an alert that says that something is trying to get access to my Outlook contacts. I assume that it is my Hotmail account (yes, I do have the ability to download). I get the alert, click "OK" four or five times, and then Outlook locks up.

When I reformatted, I lost the software Sprint gave me to sync my Samsung i500 with Outlook. When I contacted them, they said tough, I had to buy more software. Frustrated, I broke down and bought Chapura. Now, I am probably so frustrated that I cannot get it started to sync even once.

Microsoft is now ignoring my requests for help to gain access to MSN mobile through my handheld. Does anyone have any infomration on how to get to msn mobile even though mobile.msn.com does not take me to a personalized homepage to get my information?

I am an intermediate user, so I know my way around a bit. I have a hijack this log available, as well as a Belarc run. Let me know if you need anything to help me with this problem. I am just frustrated.

Thanks.

I have windows 7 and outlook 2010 on a PC. When linking to icloud and enabling it to synch with icloud, icloud took the contacts off my computer (at least it seems that way). In trying to resolve the issue and talking with Apple and Omnitech, a variety of solutions were tried. I now have all my contacts in the right categories showing up on my PC, but it appears that they are not on the PC but in the cloud. My goal is to copy one of my categories, mailing list, into a  new separate folder in the folder list in order to use it to merge with Word and make labels. In the past, I could right click on the mailing list category and drag it to the new folder that I created. It would then ask if I wanted it to copy the file there or move it. I copied it to the new folder and then was able to merge it with word. Currently, when I try to drag the file to the folder, it indicates that this action can not be done. It appears to me that the reason this is occurring is that the contact file is in the cloud not on the computer.  ?? I would like to create a file with my contacts on the PC with the contacts in the right categories and not duplicating what is currently showing up from the cloud. I believe once I do this I will again be able to copy the category to the new folder.

Hi
Got an LG P500 Android Phone. Wonder if anyone can help. Trying to sync my phone contacts. Doesn't work in the LG PC Suite ( have the latest) Will do a backup of calendar Pics Music etc: but doesn't see the Contacts in the phone.

Also tried Sync with the gmail a/c i set up in the phone. Again it syncs the mail and the calendar but not the contacts. All these Contacts have been created in the phone.

However if i open my GMail a/c on the PC and create a phone number there it syncs across. I can edit then if I want in the phone and will successfully sync back.

It seems to be all of the contacts created in the phone that is the problem.

Rather convoluted but I could EMail all the contacts in the phone as attachments, (only 20 at a time unfortunately) then Import them in my GMail on the PC but that can only be done 1 at a time.

Don't understand why the PC suite which is designed for the phone just won't work. Never had this problem when I had a Nokia and my Sony Ericsson.

I use Outlook 2007 for POP3 email and had installed in on the new LT and moved my PST and all was working good with email, contacts and calendar after much help from here: https://forums.techguy.org/threads/...le-on-new-windows-10-pc.1163278/#post-9186499. Yesterday I decided to move my iTunes from the old LT to the new LT and I installed ITunes and ICloud on the new LT and synced it with my iPhone 6. Thought all was well until this morning when I'm checking my POP3 email account. All my email downloaded no problem and I was able to read everything. When I went to send email I found that iCloud had emptied my Contacts and replaced it with iCloud contacts which essentially is the ones that I had on my phone. (My iPhone contacts are still there.) If I click the "To" field in the email it does bring up my outlook contacts that I had on my computer before the iCloud debacle and it does let me select them. However when I send them I get an immediate undeliverable message from system administrator saying:
The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX on 1/9/2016 11:12 AM

454 4.7.1 <XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX>: Relay access denied

I tried to do some Googling on this and found something that said that iCloud doesn't work well with Outlook. I also saw that people had problems w... Read more

Since I have Office 2013 w/ Outlook installed, I also have the preinstalled basic Outlook that comes to Win 8. So I guess according to iTunes I need to uninstall the generic Outlook, yet I do not see it under the control panel, where you modify or delete apps.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I hope I'm in Windows 7 forum.

Like a fool I dowloaded iCloud and sent all my contacts to iCloud. Now, when I open a contact and make a notation then want to enter a reminder, I get the message "the item is in a folder that does not support reminders". Well, something like that. How can I go back to the way it was - without iCloud? I don't want iCloud. All the help is on Apple forum and I own a PC.

Can you help?

I wouldn't mind if all my information were on iCloud AND on my laptop.

Does anyone know how you can download an .ical attachment (i.e. from a website) directly into the Outlook iCloud calendar on your PC? So far I can only download an ical appointment into the Outlook calendar (the default, which is part of the .pst file) and then manually drag it into the iCloud calendar so it appears on my other devices.....

I am signed into WLM using my hotmail live ID and working online. My mail and calendar sync to the cloud properly but contacts don't. Contacts added or deleted on cloud aren't udpated in WLM. Contacts added in WLM appear on cloud hotmail but deletions don't. Please advise how to sync (not import/export contacts). Thanks.

A:WLM 2011 contacts don't sync with cloud

Syncing should happen automatically if not immediately. To see the changes you made in WLM in the cloud you must reload the browser w/o using the cache. (Under Internet Options/Browsing History/Settings choose to check for newer versions "every time I visit".) To update the view in WLM close and reopen the WLM program.

On my friend's Win 8.1 computer, he accesses his email [email protected] using Gmail. He also has a Windows phone and accesses that same Gmail account there.

On the phone it is set to also sync the Contacts and Calendar. But the Contacts and Calendar are not syncing. He claims that it used to work, and that seems to be true since there are a lot of contacts listed on the phone.

I've done some research and found that Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync is used for this syncing. I've also found that there is inconsistent info about whether or not GMail still supports EAS. Some sources on the web say Gmail does not support it any longer, some say they only still support it if you have Google Apps for Business. But my friend does have Google Apps for Business, I confirmed that by checking in his Gmail account, I can see the history of the billing, he has had it for almost two years.

Can anyone help clear this up?

Thanks
