I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am having trouble with the settings on the display. I looks extremely grainy which it didn't before the clean install. When I use Control Panels the best that I get select is 16 colors, 640 x 480 megapixals, Standard PCI Graphics Adapter VGA, Color Management with no monitor profile. Something is wrong because the monitor looks the colors are washed out with and shadows. Definitely a change from before the clean install.

I recently upgraded my W700 to a clean Win7 Pro x64 install, downloaded the latest Win7 drivers from the Lenovo website, and did a manual install of all of them. Mostly there were no problems, however the OSD for mute, volume up/down, and brightness did not work. Here is the page for the Hotkey Features Integration package, which contains the OSD program: Hotkey Features Integration for Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit), 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bi... The problem appears to be a bug in latest version of the OSD program, for the W700. I collected data on the various versions of the OSD utility; see below (I have used the overall package version as a reference, although the OSD program itself has a different version). Here is the fix: 1) Install the latest Hotkey Features Integration package. This gets the latest other packages, plus a broken version of OSD.2) Manually uninstall the OSD program (in Control Panel:Uninstall); reboot.3) Download and install the Hotkey Features Integration package version 3.85.0000. This is last version which works fully with the W700. Run the package installer, the run the installer itself. Make sure that only the OSD component is selected; run setup; reboot. That should fix it. It appears that the bug also exists in Win XP. Here is the info I have on the various versions: 3.33.0002 - OSD Works with W7003.81.0100 - OSD Works with W7003.84.2000 - OSD Works with W7003.85.0000 - OSD Works with W700 <&l... After a couple months of flawless use, I'm having trouble with my display on this old model.

For a day or so, the display would go dark at random times, requiring a restart, after which it was fine for awhile.

Now it has gone out completely.

The funny thing is is that it's not "completely" out. I can still make out, but just barely, the display. It's too dark to read or navigate, but I can tell the desktop is there somewhere.

I've plugged an external monitor into it and it has worked fine.

I'm hoping it's a simple fix. The battery is very old and won't charge over 15%, and if that is the problem I'll be glad, but this is with it plugged into the ac adapter.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Hey everyone,
I recently ran into the issue that the backlight on my Lenovo Thinkpad W520 for the display wont light up ( i took the LCD and shined a flashlight behind it to ensure that it was being digitized which it was). It worked fine one day until I turned on the laptop and the screen was black. I have reseated all the RAM, bought new cables for the display, a new inverter for the display, and even a new screen. I have unplugged the CMOS battery to reset the BIOS, and tried holding the power button for long amounts of time with the battery and power cord disconnected. Holding the power button down and restarting fixed my Thinkpad T410 when the same issue happened 3 times before, but it wont fix this issue. All of this never happened on the T410 for the 2 years I had Windows 7 on it but now both machines run Windows 10 Pro. I removed the hard drive from the W520 just in case it was a problem with the drive. Also I am testing the screen with the laptop display assembly disassembled. Please help, I am lost as to what I can do.

I have an old ThinkPad T500 that I was planning to give to my younger brother so he can do school work.  Running Windows Vista Ultimate.  A few months back, the internal display was acting intermittently, meaning it would not display anything (dark screen) but if you connected an external monitor, it would work fine.  After a second or third reboot, the internal display would come on. This morning I turned it on and the monitor had parallel color lines in various patterns.  I can hear the laptop running and booting up.   After a couple of minutes, I plugged in an external monitor - nothing.  I rebooted the machine and the same color pattern was displaying on the internal display.  This time, the external monitor came on and booted up in 800 x 600 mode.  When I went into Device Manager > Display it shows "Standard VGA Adapter".  I recall that this laptop comes with switchable graphics between the Intel GMA 4500MHD and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 (256 MB).  Is the video card bad or is it just the actual display?

It could be both, difficult to say without having the actual ThinkPad at hand.

I don't remember by heart the BIOS settings in the T500, but please try going to the BIOS (press F1 right after turning on the laptop) and go to "Config" and "Display", select only the integrated graph, save and reboot.  Keep us posted how it goes...

Hopefully that would fix the screen problems...

I tried to toggle using the Function & F9 key which seems to function properly (ie, it will switch to the external monitor only, both, or just the lcd), but still the lcd only will display a very faint hue. Does anyone know what my problem may be? The laptop was not dropped, etc. Perhaps the video driver is corrupt? If anyone has a possible solution, it will be greatly appreciated!

Hello,I've been running into a fairly consistent problem with my Lenovo Thinkpad P70. It has the Quadro M3000m, and the Xeon CPU option which includes the HD530 graphics. I usually run the graphics in Hybrid mode, since I run into driver compatibility problems running it in Discrete Only.In Hybrid mode, there's some strange behavior. When I use the external HDMI display only, Extended Display, or the internal laptop display only, everything works well. However, when I use "Duplicate Display", it does not work. The laptop display turns on, goes to a very low resolution (1280x720 I believe), and the external display turns off. When I look in the Intel GPU multi-display settings, it says that there are two displays, the laptop display and "virtual display". When I go into the nVidia multi-display GPU settings, it shows that there are three: The Samsung TV (My external display), the internal display, and 'Analog display', which it shows connected via VGA (which is wrong), and also shows a max resolution of this 'analog display' as 1280x720. In the nVidia screen, it shows that while activating the 'duplicate display' mode, the computer tries to connect to both the internal display and this 'analog display' (which is not correct at all), but if I manually disable the analog display, enable the Samsung TV, and then right-click the Samsung TV and click "Duplicate from Display 1", the duplicate display feature works, and the "analog display" disappears from the list. The thing is, ever... Read more

Welcome to Lenovo Community! And happy to have you here.

As I understand that you are facing issue with your display in T450s.
Looks like you have a bad LCD panel & it needs to be changed so better contact Lenovo & replace under warranty.
Also you can try moving the LCD lid at certain angle whether display is coming or not.

Check with Windows 10 Setting App and also brightness is set to 100%. I check the battery/power setting and the "Enable adaptive brightnes" it off. Also check with the Lenovo Settings Metro App and the "Enable dynamic brightness control" is off. The resolution is set to native resolution in the case of this unit 1920x1080. Any ideas???

Once its working and I disconnect the dock from the laptop and reconnect it back, the monitor will not come on and remain in low power mode with amber light. I then have to go through the power down and power up cycle for the monitor to display laptop output signal or else it will remain in low power mode. Hello, I bought P50 last July with: Intel Xeon CPU E3-1505M v5 @ 2.80GHzNVIDIA Quadro M2000M3840x2160 non-touch Display When I was buying this laptop, I saw that a few people complaining the color of 1080P display was bad, therefore I chose the 4K display. But during this half year I found 4K hasn?t really had a compatible solution with all software, specially I have to use various types of apps. Then the 4K really becomes a burden to me since some apps looks very bad and I often have to switch resolutions for different apps. I just want to know if it?s possible to change my display to 1080P. I don?t care about the color that much, but more the compatibility. I?m still in warranty and want to change display by Lenovo?s after-sales service. Has anyone had similar experience changing it? Or any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.Best,Chen

I reset my pc - windows 10 to fix a different issue and on reboot, i see lenovo splash screen, but windows is only visible on external monitor.  I found a batch file fix, but that appears to be related to OLED screens - i don't think i have one.  My problem to start with was minor - every time i unpin Edge and Store, they return... tried registry and appdata location deletes - no success. I know it is a profile issue, tried deleting profile, but work has us login to Azure AD, and that screwed that up - had to reset to start  the process over. Ever since - the laptop screen only shows the lenovo boot splash.

Hi I just bought a Thinkpad P70 with a 4K panel and have a rather annoying issue. If my Power Options are set to Turn the display off after i.e 10 minuttes, the display is obviously turned off after 10 minuttes. When I touch the mouse or press a key on the keyboard the display lights up a bit but nothing is displayed on the screen. The only way I can get the display up and running again is to press and hold the power button so the machine goes to sleep. I can then press the power button again and my login screen is displayed and everything works as expected. btw. I am runing Windows 10 x64 and the graphics drivers are the latest from Lenovo´s site. I am suspecting that the Intel HD P530 driver is to blame.Has anyone seen this issue and have a good idea on how to fix it?

A:Thinkpad T480 display too dark?

"Too dark" is subjective.  I cannot comment without seeing the screen.  When I have an issue like yours, I prefer to physically take the machine a warranty servicer or dealer.  I can then turn the machine on and we can discuss it while we are both present.  If you return it, you don't have a good way to know if your screen is normal or defective.

If you have one of the high-definition screen, you are seeing the dark side of screens denser than FHD.  Some applications have made no attempt to become compatible.  All I can suggest is to contact the software publisher.  I can say that over the past year, I have seen the nubber of incompatible applications has gone down.

HI,
I am unsuccessfully trying to activate dual display mode in Win XP. The goal is to have separate outpot (different from LCD) to the video port for an external TV monitor. I have managed to get the video port active but only in a clone mode to the LCD. There is a check box in the video driver settings for "dual display" but it is greyed out. The driver is NeoGraph 256AV.

My research indicates that it may be an XP compatibility problem. Any comments? I am considering rolling back to Win98 to see if that helps.
Thanks in advance,

RELEVANCY SCORE 42

A customer brought in the their Lenovo Thinkpad 450s because their screen was failing. They already had purchased a new screen and gave me the e-mail confirmation from the order that showed that it was the correct screen that they needed. However, the new display is still black. When I hook up an external monitor, nothing but a mouse pointer shows. But I can connect to the external monitor if I power on the laptop and then immediately close the lid.The external display then shows the desktop. But then I lift the laptop lid, the laptop screen is still black. Even when I change the display settings to extend the desktop.  There was one brief occurrence with the new screen, where I saw a very faint lenovo logo appear when the splash screen loaded. But then it went completely black again. And has not done even the faint image since, it was just a fluke occurrence. And when I shine a flashlight, I still see no display. While the external monitor is displaying the desktop and I then reopen the laptop lid, the laptop screen is recognized as being there. ( Display settings, shows monitor 1 and 2 ).But the laptop screen is still black. Any thoughts? Is there a lid sensor or magnet that activates the screen? I can't find anything.
