Help! Gonna rip its wires out..one by one!

Q: Help! Gonna rip its wires out..one by one!

I am pulling my hair out and now I am going to pull the wires out on the 'puter one by one! *grin* Seriously, I have spent all day working on this and I am at wit's end.
First off let me say I ran adaware............it will not remove everything I want even when I tell it too after the reboot if necessary. Secondly, Spy Bot supposedly took off its junk but.........it still keeps coming up with DOS Exploit even though it give a green check and says removed. grrrrrrrrrrr

Last........just for giggles AVG Shield just told me something about TrojanHorse out of nowhere and scared me half to death. I told it to heal. These are all current with there updates also. This is for WinMe and yes......I know its not the best thing in the world but it is what I am stuck with.

Can you help please............
Thank you!

Preferred Solution: Help! Gonna rip its wires out..one by one!

I recommend downloading and running Outlook PST Repair. It's a PST repair tool that I've used it in the past to recover emails, contacts, tasks and notes from corrupt Outlook files that are damaged or inaccessible. Supports Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013.

You can download it direct from this link http://goo.gl/1bjhSi. (This link will automatically start a download of Outlook PST Repair that you can save to your computer.)

i just read an article from anandtech and it appears that the manta reference board for the rd580 chip is actually better for gaming when its crossfire config is pitted against the 7800gtx in sli. im thinking about upgrading my computer to a good gaming machine because my 9800pro and my mobile 2500 just aint enuff ne more. so heres the question, should i go with ATI or nvidia. im kinda undecided because in the past year nvidia has been kickin ati's *** in gaming, but only now is ati starting to show promise, but im not sure if i should base my decision on just one article. i was thinking about setting up either an sli system with one 7800gt now and another one l8r, or one 1800xl now and another one l8r when the rd580 comes out.

On July 13th, MS will release the RTM for Windows 7. We all know that speed, stability, and overall performance will be be better than the RC and its subsequent builds, but what do you think MS is hiding from us? Surely they have to add SOME new things...even if it's as minor as a simple tweak, like the changed Orb found in 7057/7100. Also, keep in mind that MS has a conference around the time of the RTM release, so maybe they'll announce something? Here's what I think:
A GUI Change. Paul T. said that MS would introduce a new GUI, or at least a tweaked GUI in the RTM. What could possibly be in it? I think that the Start Menu is ripe for change. Perhaps the icons on the taskbar could be centered, akin to Mac OS X? I also predict possibly more semi-transparent effects/menus.
More keyboard shortcuts. Pressing an F# key to bring up Gadgets would be nice, as well as Win+T for the Task Manager would be convenient.
The return of DreamScenes, but renamed simply "Animated Desktop". Another possibility could be an interactive desktop.

A:What do you think's gonna be in the RTM?

it would be great if we would at least get some new icons ... dont think anything other will change.

Hello from a 53 yr old Grama in Canada! I have a interesting problem that involves 2 computers. One is my main one an HP Pavillion 7955 & the other is my Back Up, and HP Pavillion 7850. Both running Win XP Home Edition. Wait till you read this ! LOL
1. Ran Boot scan for virus with Avast on 7955, as I have always done with no problem...until now that is. It deleted something it shouldn't have. Puter wouldn't boot. Said hal.dll file missing. No problem go into safe mode. Nope. Wouldn't start in safe mode, or any other mode for that matter. Wouldn't start from Win XP Boot disks either. Wouldn't start in any way shape or form. Then floppy light goes on and stays on, then floppy stops working all together.
2. Decided to use back up puter, 7850. Put memory Dimm from the big one into 7850, and all was well. I should have left it that way. Then I got the brainy, or not so brainy idea, to take the hard drive from 7955 and plop it into the 7850 as a slave, and use 7850 puter to fix the drive from the 7955.
Well not only did the 7850 refuse to boot, the floppy in that died too.
Now what could kill 2 floppies from 2 different machines. I have tried every key combo I can research and nothing happened.
So I put the floppy back in the 7955 and the memory as well. Now when I turn it on, it does nothing but run. No light in the floppy, no flicker in the on button, no beeps and nothing of course on the monitor.
Does anyone have any idea what could kill 2 floppys fr... Read more

That means that at sometime from pressing the power button, the os is unable to load, I have tried different video cards, and both of my sticks of ram, and a second hard drive, I know it is a problem from boot, cuse the network led does not light up. Computer has power, fans work, hard drives spin, it just dosnt boot.

Okay, So in setup, what would cause a computer to not boot? I know this is an extremely vauge question, but there are no spare monitors on the floor for another week.

Right here goes !!!!! i have been running windows vista on my laptop for the past 8 months with no problems.... recentley i did something really bad and compressed my hard drive and it would no longer boot.Sooooooooo after much searching on the net i found something about bootmgr fix through dos, which i did but that did not work . Someone suggested slaving the hard drive to another machine which i did and it uncompressed..WAHEY.....or so i thought . When i put it back in the laptop it said Bootmgr is compressed so i put the vista disk and ran the startup repair. this seemed to work for the first boot then on the second nothing happened it just would not boot so i put in the vista disc and an error message appeared, something along the lines of a hardware change has happened since the last boot and windows could not find the drivers. the hardware in question is the cd/dvd rewriter.......................so my problem is now how do i install vista on the harddrive when i can not get the disc to run in the drive???????

p.s i have formatted the hard drive so it is a clean install and RC1 of vista which i have will seem to run (have only tried it to see if it gets further than the real version)

Any help will be appreciated

A:I'm Gonna Blow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember i accidently compressed my C drive and it wouldn't boot.
i searched google and tried the uncompressing it through dos but that didn't work.

what i ended up doing was loading the vista disc and then to repair computer. when it looks for which OS to load i clicked on load drivers and the My Computer dialog box came up and from there i went to the screen where i could see all my drives and right clicked on my C drive>Properties and then just unchecked Compress this drive to same more space then i just restarted and everything booted up fine...

hi guys ,

i have this stupid strange problem and i posted in 3-4 other forums about it, no one could me help

i bought this system on 2nd november. just imagine, i spend ~1800$ to buy this pc AND after 17 days, 17 days......... i still cant get sound out of my onboard sound card!

the problem is that the ANALOG BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL does not work

Here are gigabyte tech support's answers to my problem:
"We are really sorry for the inconvenience you have with our product." and " According to your description, a further testing or examination to your system might be required."

today, my supplier tested the motherboard in front of my eyes, and it worked fine THERE.
they said maybe it is your graphics card's driver (HD 4870) that makes this problem. so i came home, uninstalled the VGA driver and ATI HD Audio driver and.... STILL NO SOUND...

my speakers are fine (i tested them with another pc and with my mp3 player) and i installed the latest drivers for everything...

i dont know what to do
i also e-mailed Realtek technical support last week, and they didnt answer!!
i asked in 3 or 4 other forums (tomshardware, anandtech, guru3d....) no one could help me

what should i do? if u need to know anything, please let me know.
and here are some pictures, maybe they can help u to figure out what is wrong with my pc

A:Please someone help me... Im gonna go crazy!!!!!

OK, I don't know much about ATI but I just read this on some other thread and this may or may not help you.

Since your Video card also comes with HDMI audio, I think your best best is to DISABLE the onboard audio in your Bios and let the Video card with sound take over. It may not work but, at least, is some other solution you can test.

Also, you may have chosen some wrong options on your realtek control panel and this is why the analog is not highlited. Your ATI and Realtek might have some sort of conflict with which one is the master and which one is the slave.

Oh man are you in trouble!!! Just do a system restore before you make the problem worse LOL. Don't panic. Go to start - programs - accessories - system tools - system restore. Click next. Select a highlighted date on the August calander to just before you messed up. select the system check point on the right. Click restore on the bottom or whatever it says then leave the computer completely alone until it boots back up (Praying profusely that this works), and tells you it was sucessful. Then close out of the system restore, and all should be back the way it was. Then turn off your dad's computer and leave it alone LOL. Hope this helps buddy we were all young and stupid at one time.

Hello everyone

I'm a little perplexed over what to do with my Seagate Barracuda IV 80GB hard drive.

I bought it on 11-11-2002 so I have only 10 days until the warranty runs out.....

The drive was a beauty - pretty quick and oh so quiet - and totally reliable - until around 3 or 4 months ago when i got my 1st bad sector. After that I received a handful of warnings from my bios that S.M.A.R.T status was BAD & the drive should be replaced - and another bad sector.
Indeed running Seagate's Seatools diagnostic software confirmed my drive was bad & needed replacing.

It took me a while to manage the cash for a replacement as my reseller would not ship a replacement in advance.

3months later....

So With a new IBM/Hitatchi 180GXP 120GB, I transferred all of my data safely to the new drive (phew).

I checked again and seatools confirmed the drive had physical defects and needed replacing.
Before returning the drive I thought it common sense to write zeros to the drive, which I did with Seagate's Discwizard software.

Then I ran seatools again to check the error message & guess what......?
So did an intensive diagnostic - and again no problems.

Ok then - so I can't send it back now if its coming up fine - they'll probably just send it back to me!

So reformatted & set it up as a second drive just for storage/backup. Ran a full scandisc - fine. Even the bad sectors seem to have disappeared.

The d... Read more

I was copying 2 video from CD to HDD, took me a long time
about 700MB of file, took about 3.35 minutes

A:OMG! I am gonna go back to XP

Provided you updated Vista (a hot fix repaired the copy problem), it won't actually take that long. Vista Unlike XP, Vista gauges the time based on the first block sent. This will always be the longest time because most of the time is used figuring out how big the file is, and how long it will take to transfer. Vista will eventually get it right. XP starts the transfer, then gauges the time. With the update that came out a few months ago, both O/Ss are about the same.

Welcome to TSF.

What problems are you having currently? Nothing major here...

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools (or View)->Folder Options->View tab:
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders (it's Show all files for Windows 98).
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm and then click OK.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Make sure you downloaded, installed, updated and ran these programs (run in Safe Mode) already - Ad-aware, Spybot and Ewido (only if you have Windows 2000 or XP). If you didn't, do them now. For more information, go to http://www.greyknight17.com/spyware.htm

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Mak... Read more

I have two laptops, both are Dell. One is a older Inspiron, and the other is an XPS. I have dialup internet, and the Inspiron has a dialup modem, and the XPS doesn't. What I have to do to get internet is network with a Ethernet cable, one from another. The Inspiron doesn't have a Wireless Modem built in, but I have a USB card for it.
What I have to do for internet as it is, is connect the dialup with the Inspiron, and with the Ethernet cable, I have internet with the XPS.
What I want to know is if it is possible to use the Inspiron to create a Wireless network that has internet capability for my Dell XPS to connect to the dialup wirelessly throughout my house.
If this is possible, how do I go about doing this?

Hey its my friends first time building a computer, but to am unsure what advice to give him...he just aquired all the parts for the comp he is building, and he told me that there are two wires sticking from the front of the case that hypotheticly should be plugged into the motherboard, hes using an abit AI7, and he consulted the manual and it doesnt specify a place to put these wires, one wire says "Ground -5V" and the other "Ground +5V"...if any one has any ideas on whether these are significant wires and where they need to be connected, or whether they need to be connected at all please leave a reply all and any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi all,

Just a small question im looking to add a fan to my comp to exhaust the heat out, the only fan i can get has 1 red and 1 black wire (about 20cm long) coming out of it, im at ends on how i would install it in the computer as i heard that fans come with 3 pin connectors or something that simply you plug into the motherboard.

Thanks for any help.

A:Fan- with 2 wires?

A standard fan just has the power lead (red and black), others are designed to plug on to the board and as such can be either controlled or monitored by the motherboard, these can have 3 wires.

To connect a standard 2 pin plug you can either feed it directly from one of the molex plugs using an adaptor cable or see if your board has a 2 pin power socket.

Im no expert in modding and cooling, this is based on general use of a PC.

I got AT&T Dryloop Internet a few months ago, but about 3 weeks ago my Internet suddenly stopped working. I found out later that the cord that runs under the house had been cut all the way through in a couple places; it's like someone intentionally crawled under there and cut them. Now I'm faced w/ a huge bill to get an AT&T repair person to fix it. If anyone could give me some advice on what to do or alternatives, that would be great.

A:Help! My Wires Have Been Cut

like any DSL, "dry loop" (which just means there is no voice line on the phone service) is run over copper wire. In homes, this is usually insulated and shielded wire with four interior wires called "two pair," again typically with red, green, yellow, and black. Chances are you are using the red and green. If the colors don't match, don't worry. Just make sure you connect the same wires to the same terminals.

Go to Radio Shack or your local hardware store and get an inline connector for outdoor use. Simply connect one color from one side of the cut to the same color on the other side of the cut, and all should be well.

You can splice the wires directly, but that could cause more line noise than you want.

Alternatively, just re-wire the connection from your phone box to the wall. Red to red, green to green.

Remember that phone wires are "hot" and run at low voltage, so if you corss live wires you will get a but of a wake up call -- nothing big and sure as heck not like 120V current, but stronger than putting your tongue on a nine volt.

While you are at the hardware store, you can buy a wire tester that plugs into the jack and tells you if you have the wires hooked up correctly or not. Just don't plug anything into the jack until it tests positively, and you are good to go. Crossing phone wires is not by any means the end of the world, and nothing will happen while you are testing.

If you have zero inclination to DIY, t... Read more

How do I take a screenshot or picture of something on my desktop to send in an e-mail to EA?

A:This is gonna sound stupid...

Press the "Print Screen or Print Scr" button on the keyboard. Nothing will appear to happen when you do that by the way. Then open the program you want to view it in. You can then "Paste" the screenshot into that program and save it/manipulate it. Remember where you save it and then when you want to attach it, you will simply attach/upload it.

Hey! Im gonna build a new PC and put my harddrive that im using in. But i have 1 question, i have 2 drives on the computer ( C: and D: ) will the the D: Drive corrupt when im gonna move it to the new PC or is the 2 drives just gonna change letters?

A:Drives gonna go corrupted?

The way I do it is to install the main drive that will be C: then install the Operating System and drivers. Once that is working I install the second drive which usually will become D: with the Optical drive becoming E:. If there is an old Operating System on D: there usually is not a problem but best to uninstall its files or if the data is not needed use Disk Management to delete the partition/s the recreate as desired and format.
