Lenovo ideapad 510 monitor problems

Q: Lenovo ideapad 510 monitor problems

I purchased a Lenovo Ideapad 510 laptop and spent days transfering and setting up all my programs and files. After a while I noticed a vertical line down the monitor and the resolution was not as good as my old HP but, as I had put in so much effort (and money) into setting it up, and because I need a computer for my job (could not be without it for days), I delayed in sending it back. Now it is out of warranty and the resolution and vertical line problem is still there, I googled the issue but could not find a solution. I am very disapointed with the Lenovo product and would hesitate before buying another Lenovo product. Has anyone out there had this problem and how can I fix it?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My laptop's monitor is broken, so I use an external monitor plugged in through an HDMI cord. I updated to Windows 10 and can't figure out how to toggle between display settings. I know you can do Windows + P and select expand, but seeing as I have a broken laptop monitor I can't do anything.

How do you display bios to an external monitor for a Lenovo Ideapad u530 running Windows 10? I can get Windows 10 login page to show on the external monitor but not the bios details. Reason: I have an almost non-functional laptop screen so I'm using the external monitor. What I see in the bios screen (on the almost non-functional laptop screen) is Insydeh20 setup utility. Is there an option in this utility to force the bios to the external monitor?

Hi I was unfortunate enough to buy a Lenovo laptop for the first time two weeks in Kuala Lumpur. It wasnt too long before I realised that the laptop had a serious problem with the Wifi. The internet connection either runs very slowly or not at all, i'm using my old trusty HP laptop at the moment and there are no problems at all, even my cheapo smartphone works better than the Lenovo. The model is Ideapad 310-14IKBModel name 80TUS/N PF0Q5ZXD After a little research(wish I did it before I purchased) I found out that the older Ideapad 310 is plagued by bad Wifi, but it shoudn't affect the new models, this laptop says it was manufactured on 18/12/2016. Two years international warranty came with the device, so I am planning to visit Lenovo when I return home. In the meantime is there any quick fix for this? It's driving me mad. Thanks

Hi, I got my new Lenovo Ideapad y510p for a month ago, and  three weeks after it started acting wierd by having a slow startup and sometimes it just had black screen when it was starting up. Sometimes I have to hold down the  power and try several times to turn on the computer. When it do start up, at the begining (after the lenovo logo) it makes some black screen switching (not sure if it correct way to describe it), and then it take ages for it to get on the login screen, and get on desktop, its like it doesn't have an SDD. Any help?

A:Problems with Lenovo Ideapad y510p

Hi Zenadbeg,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that your Y510p laptop is not working as expected and takes long time to boot into Windows, below are the steps to check and resolve the issue in the computer:

Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer.
Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer.
If the issue persists even after performing Flee Power then resetting BIOS to its defaults should resolve the issue
To access the BIOS menu click the NOVO button which at the left-hand side of the computer next to AC power adapter jack.
Then to reset the BIOS to its defaults click on ?F9? Key and select YES.
Now Click on ?F10? Key to safe the changes that are done in BIOS, restart the computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Hope this helps!!!

Do post us back if the issue persists.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Since I opened the box I have had problems with this laptop.  I have seen a lot of people posting issues relating to the video card error - Lenovo has posted a driver solution for some models, but it has not fixed mine yet.  Aside from this error and the diagnostic failing, apps are constantly crashing, screen flashing non-stop on certain websites or doing certain functions, screen blackout, etc.  Hoping this is all related to the video card error and not some additional problem.  Anyone else having these problems?  Any timeline on the fix?  I have been trying to be patient but it's getting increasingly frustrating... especially with a $1000 brand new laptop...

Alright, so early I tried to overclock my Nvidia GTX 660m Card, and it worked. the base clock speed is 835mhz, and the memory is 2500mhz. I OC'd the clock speed to 970mhz, and the memory to 3000mhz. It all worked fine, and boosted my gaming framerate quite a bit in PlanetSide 2 and Skyrim. ( I used NvidiaInspector to overclock, btw.) I went back to the overclocking interface, and accidentally set the memory rate to around +1300mhz. I then, without realizing, clicked on set OC settings, and it crashed my card. It rebooted, but now whenever I go into Nvidia Inspector to check my clock/mem speed, they're both set on 405mhz while idle or if there's a high load on my card. It's been stuck like this for a few hours, and I've tried several tweaks to fix it, including a reboot, rolling back the drivers, and then reinstalling the drivers, etc., with no resolve. I really need some help, as this is affecting my gaming horribly, and I'm getting terrible framerates. Please give suggestions/fixes as quickly as possible!

Thanks,
DDInc

So I'm currently in the process of trying to order myself a new AC Adapter for my Lenovo Ideapad, but my issue is finding the correct AC Adapter for my computer. I've spent three or four hours trying to find the correct one, yet the one Lenovo list on their website with the Ideapad 700 series (http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/itemdetails/888015027/460/B5F03F2D7A74472998C11037ACE71BFB?sb=:000001CC... has the incorrect part number. The part number on my AC Adapter is 5A10J46690, the one Lenovo lists to buy is 888015027, what I need to know (Which I can't figure out) is whether or not this is the same AC Adapter as the one I have currently, which does not work. Seeing as I can't find a single adapter matching the part number of my current one. To clarify slightly, my laptop is the Ideapad 700-15ISK Type 80RU00APUS. Apologies if I picked the wrong category for this, I'm new to the forums and majorly need the help.

I have a lenovo ideapad y510p and everything was fine until for I thought I'd do the battery reset in the lenovo energy management,at first the battery was dead and laptop wouldnt turn on,,I found one way around this which is that first I take the battery out and then insert the ac adapter, the laptop turns on then I put it in hibernate while I insert battery after which it seems to charge but only after I do these steps, but if I take the adapter out and insert it back in,it would stop charging.this is all because of the lenovo energy management software battery reset.I've uninstalled it but it doesnt work.any suggestions?I'm guessing one of the steps after full charge during the battery reset the battery gets drained where it says "plugged in and not charging" until it reaches zero is the problem.

Hey guys. I have the y700 touch screen version, and recently I've noticed that the laptop lags when opening files or when I'm using chrome or word. I have 16 gbs of ram, and there seems to be no issue with task manager. Sometimes the disk reads at 100% activity, but most of the time it's a Lenovo or Microsoft service that is causing it. Other times there is no abnormal activity within task manager and it still lags. Even when I select various icons in the desktop there is a noticeable lag. Also, the laptop gets hot quickly when I'm not even playing games or running heavy programs. I've been told by different Lenovo representatives that it could be a software issue and that I should try a factory reset, but I've also been told that it can be an issue with the cooling system, as it gets hot very quickly. This is a very recent issue, and it is quite annoying as I basically burn my hands while doing my work. I've scanned for viruses and malware, and there is no problem what's so ever. Can anyone help me out? It would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys, First of all I want to say hello to the forum members and admins. I have a problem with my U330p bluetooth device. It's working, no issues with that. Just the problem is that the device signal is very very weak. I've bluetooth speaker like 2,5m away from my laptop (which btw works perfectly fine with iPhone even from the distance much bigger than those 2,5m) and I cannot really listen to spotify or other music. Sound is breaking all the time. It's having lags like hell. I was trying to update the driver but system (WIN 8.1 Pro) is showing me that I've currently the newest one.  What can I do with that? Is there any chance to fix it? Brgds!

I purchased my computer on Nov. 26, 2016 less than 3 months later, on Feb 2, 2017, the sound when I played music or videos started to stutter and become distorted.  This happened when using the laptop speakers, external speakers and headphones. If I restarted the computer the stuttering would stop for a few hours then come back. I researched online for a fix and couldn't find one that worked. After a month of this happening I finally called Lenovo customer service. They had me reinstall the drivers. That didn't work so they suggested a factory reset. So I backed up my files and did one. That still didn't make the stuttering stop.  It was still under warrenty, so per their advice I had to send the laptop in to Louisville, KY. (Which I had to pay $60 to ship them, because they only cover return shipping, this is the sign of a terrible company.)   I sent it in on 3/13 and they have been waiting on a part since 3/20.  Today 3/30 I call costumer service for an update and they tell me the part will not be in until APRIL 10th!!! Of course costumer service can not tell me why the part is taking so long to get there.  I'm very upset with this whole process.  My computer only worked for a little over 2 months and now Lenovo is keeping my computer for a month at least? This is not what I paid for.  I use my computer for work so this is a major. Has anyone else had any of these same issues?

Hello, i received a Lenovo Ideapad 305 computer on 9th of March 2017. Immediately after that day, computer showed signs of weird behaviour. It shut down instead of going to Sleep Mode when attempting to use that command. I swear i checked out the battery settings and it seems that computer shuts down even when manually choosing sleep mode. Last night i also came across a problem when computer restarted instead of shutting down. I tried installing all the possible updates, but it didn't fix the issue. At the very beginning Sleep Mode actually worked fine but something must have corrupted it. Power Troubleshooting didn't provide any results. The big programs i have installed are Comodo Antivirus, Sony Vegas and Adobe Photoshop. I have removed some of Lenovo's own installed minor software because i found them useless. There are still some updates that Windows wants to install but i'm being skeptical if they will fix the issue. Information:Windows 10 HomeIntel Core i7-5500 U CPU @ 2.40 GHZRAM: 8,00 Gb

So everything has been working fine on my laptop until about 10:30PM EST tonight. I bought it new in August 2011.
Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
HD: 750 GB
BIOS: 45CN36WW

It's always been a fine machine with NO problems.
However, last night there were Windows 7 updates that were installed and then restarted my computer. I had not gotten a chance to check exactly what they were though. About 10:30 this evening, flash crashed in Mozilla Firefox which is not that uncommon, and from there Firefox closed, and so did my Microsoft Word and Excel apps that were open. From there, my computer began to shut down and restart. When it went to restart, all it could do was go to the opening Lenovo screen which gives you the F2 (setup option) and F12 (multiboot menu option) as it typically does. Besides a thin strip at the top that appeared after about 30 secs that only displays moving static that eventually will just stick, that is where the boot process ends. No Windows 7 screen, and certainly no opportunity to boot into safe mode to check for any problems. The screen freezes and goes nowhere.

So basically, all I'm getting in terms of boot options are lenovo features, not windows 7 features, meaning it won't boot into windows 7 or windows 7 safe mode no matter what I try. The biggest problem here is that I have no windows 7 disc to even try to boot from my dvd drive.

Anybody have any suggestions on what the probl... Read more

I am totally disappointed in Lenovo's customer support. My lenovo 710s was bought less than 1 year ago (as of 10/6/2017, when I sent it in for repairs) and had 2 years warranty (1+1 year of extended warranty). I sent my laptop for repair due to a white spot issue on the monitor, affecting viewing of webpages and videos. However, the laptop was returned after 3 weeks without any fixes/repairs, as Lenovo claimed that it was a cosmetic issue. I wrote a message on their customer care website on 3/7/2017. However, they ignored me and there was no reply to date.  I thought Lenovo is a reliable and popular brand. However, it turned out to be a horrible decision, much to my dismay!

Hello, since I bought my new laptop back in Dec 2016 and aside from the fact that I had to struggle a bit with the delivery process that ended up to be a non-issue, I was happy with this machine... Til about three weeks ago. Unfortunately, the return period has expired and since the whole story is not relevant here (other than just venting my frustration) I will just try to turn this into a positive experience by asking and perhaps offering advise out there. My ask is: Does any one out there know if there is a way for me to have similar functionality that an Integrated Microphone Array via an outside device or anything on this machine? The Ideapad 310 unfortunately does not come with this device which is embeded in the motherboard. Since I had bought HP laptops in the past which bring it as part of the standard build, I didn't even think (nor did I know) of finding out if this machine had this component. But it doesn't come with it. Yes I know, my bad, I should've sticked to HP, but anyway, I have this piece of expensive hardware (at least for me) and I can't use it for what I need because it does not come with that feature. Please, I've done quite a lot already, so don't offer anything else than what I am asking, please, if you don't know what an IMA does then it is basically an internal microphone that you can use as opposed to a headset. I need that to work that way. Period. So, I don't know, Lenovo tech support had already given their veredict but perhaps some savvy pe... Read more

You didn't need to set the boot mode to Legacy Support, you should install it without legacy support, but install on the UEFI, so next time turn the legacy support OFF, and install the Windows on the UEFI. If you turn legacy off, it automatically should be UEFI

My father bought a Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t. Does anyone know, if the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t, can be upgraded from Win 7 Starter, to Win 7 home basic or premium? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

A:Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t

The short answer is "yes".

Check out Jesse Andersen's site on the S10-3t. He's pretty much the expert on that machine.

The relevant section for you is Lenovo S10-3T: Windows 7 Starter vs Home Basic vs Home Premium vs Professional vs Enterprise vs Ultimate

I'm thinking about getting one of these, myself.
