Blurred Pictures at Startup

Q: Blurred Pictures at Startup

I wanted to show a different background picture at startup, and from a selection I have, I selected one under the lock screen options. But when I start or restart my PC, the picture is badly blurred. I have tried various ones from those I have saved, but they all show the same result. Is there anything I can do to correct this?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently upgraded to the latest driver for my IBM T41 laptop's ATI Radeon 9000 video card to the latest version (specific IBM driver). Shortly after, all pictures loaded in my browser (IE 6 with all latest patches) appeared blurred/pixelized. Tried to change all sort of settings, revert to previous driver, reinstall, but nothing improved.

Then thought it may be a virus (have Symantec anti-virus & firewall) and did find a Trojan (fvp.dll) which I removed. The system was then clean, but still couldn't improve the situation. Tried installing Firefox, but same problem in that browser.

I don't think it's a video card issue however, as if I browse for pictures in the Windows Explorer, they display correctly. I can even do "Open with" - Internet Explorer on a file and the image displays correctly in IE (but when I do this, the system then becomes very slow/instable).

Any ideas - please help !!!

So to clarify, this is an IE problem with pictures, not a general graininess problem, right? A thought is to try and install the latest AOL browser beta because it flushes out a bunch of settings that IE6 makes. Or, you could just use Firefox and forget that IE exists....

When Windows 10 starts up - and before we log on - it displays a variety of different fantastic views / sceneries. Only problem is, I don't know where the views are from and besides, I've seen enough interesting places in the world to make my own "series" of phenomenal views - if that's the way I want to start my day.

Is there a way to modify what pictures Windows throws at you at start-up?

A:Is it possible to change the automated startup background pictures?

Hi ESTRADA! And welcome to Ten forums!

Go to Settings / Personalization and then click on Lock screen in left side list.

You can choose between Windows Spotlight (that are series of Microsoft pictures you've mentioned), picture and Slideshow.

I guess they think I want to see these things. I apologize for not knowing what to call them other than "pictures". Every time I open the lid for the computer when it has been "sleeping" or I start up my laptop. These is some picture with a note in the upper right asking me if I like it or not. I always click that I do not like it and I wish I knew how t make it stop. I don't want to see their pictures and it is offensive to me for them to presume that I do.
However, I do not know how to make it stop. I have PW or fingerprint protection that I use to logon. The picture is usually on that screen waiting for me to slide my finger, then it opens to my desktop or whatever window I had open.

So.. what do I call these pictures, what screen is this? Can I get rid of the pictures or do I just have to keep telling them that I don't like the picture (there is a certain satisfaction in telling them I don't like their picture).

Thanks,

Julien

It is called "Windows spotlight" on the lock screen. You can set your own picture (so I guess you could pick a solid color). Can't seem to turn it off completely though...

I have been experiencing excruciating computer slowness on startup for a while now.

1) After logging into my desktop (for example, right after a boot-up) if I attempt to start programs via desktop, start menu or task manager shortcuts (for example, Google chrome) these programs experience a delay for a number of minutes before becoming responsive.
This happens every time I start the computer; is there any way to identify the cause?

2) Often, starting programs while the computer is in this phase will also freeze the computer completely (for example, starting Google Chrome can cause the entire system to hang/become unresponsive for a good 2-3 minutes)

3) Furthermore, my antivirus, Kaspersky internet security, takes at least 5 minutes post-startup to show the message that it's been activated. I am worried that malware might be preventing it from starting early so that the malware can begin its processes undetected, but I am unsure of what to do to determine if this is the case.

4) When saving images (post-startup, after the freezing and long delays stop) the 'save as' dialog will take an absurdly long time to appear (anywhere between 20 seconds to 4 minutes per dialog).
This problem started occurring after the aforementioned three, but I am not sure exactly when.
After saving one or two pictures in this delayed fashion, the problem seems to go away for the rest of the session but the problem repeats itself when the computer is rebooted.
How do I determine the... Read more

Hi all,

I have an Acer Aspire 5002WLMi notebook with an AMD Turion 64 ml-30 processor. I have had it about 2.5 years, and have recently noticed that the LCD screen is starting to become slightly blurred - images are still fine, but words are noticeably blurred on approximately every other line.

Now I know this is probably just normal wear and tear; and that the laptop is simply getting older and will need replacing in a year or so. I was wondering, however, whether there are any driver downloads or other software I could get my hands on to halt, slow-down or solve the blurring process.

Any information would be very much appreciated.

Cheers, guys.

Hey, I just got a new nVidia Geforce 6200, everything(well almost everything) is well, When I play Need For Speed Most Wanted, the game loads fine when I start speeding everything else (the trees, other traffic cars, buildings, signs) become blurred. The frame rate at this time is not that bad.. Is there anything I can download that can make the gameplay improve? My specs are: Intel Pentium 4 2.0 GHz, 1GB RAM, WD 120 GB HD, nVidia GeForce 6200, sound-integrated.

A:NFS Most Wanted is Blurred

thats a design feature. Its supposed to give the impression of speed. Same thing happens in NFS 2 underground.

should be a setting somewhere in the options menu to turn that off, or if my memory recalls, turning down the graphics detail a notch should do it. You'll still get the fancy road texture/lights/NOS etc, but it should knock out the blurring effect. Nothing to do with your computer not being able to handle the game, just programmed that way

I use three computers regularily. Two have the latest version of Irfanview on them, the third has one about three versions back. I can get the exact numbers if it would help.

Two computers also use the exact same set of font files (kept a list and downloaded them on that one too). I uploaded the fonts before I got irfanview on it.

But when I put the new version of irfanview on, for some reasons the fonts went from being all one solid colour when used (and this is in ms paint too) they're... blurry. Grey bits here and there, etc. It's like that on the other computer with the newer irfanview, but I assumed that it was a fault of that particular computer until now.

I'm not actually sure if Irfanview is the cause, but it's the only connecting factor in the two computers that have this problem. It isn't one of the font files, since another computer has the exact ones that isn't giving me that error.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

So months ago my machine suffered a gradual power supply failure (i.e. the supply would kick in for a second on startup and then cut out). Now, at the time I was in the middle of my thesis and was wraught with frustration, so I probably tried repeatedly starting it one too many times over that week, because after I finally installed a new PS, I started getting display problems. Things would look fine, then I'd get ghost-effects on my pixels, then it would gradually snap back into place and then out of sync again for various periods of time. In addition, the digital output wasn't working -- had to switch back to VGA.

I figured I had shorted something on my video card, so yesterday I finally went to get a new one (after having just bought one four months ago). The problem, alas, still exists. I also know it's not my monitor, as my roommate used it for three weeks while I was away and she it was perfectly clear for her.

So the question is, what besides my video card and monitor could be causing display problems like this?

Thanks for your help.

Hi.... hopefully someone can answer my question. I have saved about 20 photos from 35mm slides on my computer under my documents. I first edit them on Adobe photo elements and then store them as JPEG. The images are all crisp and very clear. However when I email them from my NetZero email to my Yahoo email address they appear blurred. I am resizing the images to about 270 X 410 which I believe is quite small. I've tried saving them at several different quality levels and have also tried at 28.8 and at 56.6. Whatever I do, I get crisp photos when I'm done, but they are always blurred and wavy looking when I receive them on my Yahoo email address.
I would like to resolve this before emailing any of these photos to friends.

Can anyone help me? Thanks!

I've not "heard" a "blurring" sound. High cpu load typically results in the audio skipping.

Webpages automagically opening would indicate that your PC is infected. Perform a full AV scan and run an app such as MalwareBytes to search for malware.

Hi,

I have finally managed to get some of my games to work on my HDTV which was one of my issues originally.

I have a ATI Radeon HD4350 PCI card which I have hooked up to my TV via the HDMI slot. I have the latest ATI Catalyst 10.3 (I think)

The problem now is that when I switch the display from my monitor to my 50 inch HDTV it works fine but if I extend the desktop to the HDTV the display is blurred on my HDTV and the picture on my monitor doesn't show in it's entirety (just the desktop background)

I have tried messing about with the resolutions and refresh rates in the ATI Catalyst but it just doesn't work.

My monitor is set to 1024x768 30hz refresh and my HDTV is set to a standard 1080 resolution as recommended in the Catalyst. I have also tried a 720 resolution but it's still blurred.

It seems as if the graphics card can't extend the desktop to a resolution that my TV recognises.

Maybe it's a issue with my TV?

Can anyone help me with the correct resolutions and refresh rates I need as the
Catalyst one's don't work.

Thanks

A:Extended Desktop Blurred on HDTV

A few months ago I was working on my computer and the screen kind of froze and became slightly blurry. This was followed by a blue screen message. I made the mistake of ignoring it and just restarted my computer. The same thing happened only the blurring was slightly more noticeable. After about five time or so the screen became too blurry to read when I tried to start up the computer and the blue screen stopped appearing. Instead the monitor just went to sleep. At this point when I start up the computer, the screen is completely unreadable and won't respond to me pressing things on the keyboard. It stays like this for a few minutes before the monitor goes to sleep though the CPU remains on. I've tried using a different monitor but I encountered the same issues. It's a really old computer and it maybe time to replace but if there's any relatively cheap ways to fix it I'd like to try that first. I've included some pictures of the issue. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Emails are also affected, I use Outlook 2000 from Office 2000, the email itself, and the headers in the preview pane are affected. I tried isolating the PS2 port resources from the VGA card's IRQ, I tried using Microsofts generic mouse driver, all no joy. I replaced the video card with a new one... same sadness. If I click and drag the scroll bar to move up or down the page, the problem is much less severe. If a portion of the text becomes garbled, and I drag the blurred portion out of the visible window and back again, it is sharp and crisp once more. If I copy and paste text from a web page to UltraEdit and scroll that, no problem.
