I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

The other day I updated my laptop which is a Dell Inspiron 17R running Windows 7 home premium, when I updated the computer booted ok took longer than usual, I restarted the laptop but this time it wouldn't boot up, it came up with a black screen saying repair windows(recommended) or start windows normally, I clicked repair windows it said searching for problems, attempting repairs this took about an hour and a half but unfortunately did not resolve the issue I sent the error report to windows, I restarted the laptop again,  attempted booting it in safe mode no luck and the same other various options I can try but no luck they all just crashed the laptop and began restarting it,  tried repairing it again and this time it took my to a screen with various options like load backup open cmd and format my hard drive, loading the backup did nothing and  wasn't sure what to do with cmd so decided to part ways with my stuff and format the hard drive, I did this and the laptop was formatted but the OS was still on the hard drive and it was like the first time I opened it all of my personal things were gone but win 7 home premium was still there, I set it back up again installed AVG anti virus etc downloaded a few movies ran fine the next day it said windows updates need installing so, I  did , 145 updates were made  turned my laptop back on and again it was booting up and crashing followed the steps I mentioned before noting was working after messing around wit... A:Computer wont boot, wont boot in safe mode, wont load repair centre

Hello there,

It seems like you did not perform a clean installation of Windows and that's why your system is acting up.

Follow the steps below to install a new copy of Windows:

1. To format your hard disk during Windows 7 installation you will need to start or boot your computer using the Windows 7 installation disc or USB flash drive. Insert your Windows 7 disc in your CD/DVD drive. Please note: will need to restart or turn on your system with the disc in the drive.
2. After turning on your system with the CD in the drive go ahead and press any key when prompted during your computer post routine and then follow the instructions presented on screen. If you don’t see this go back to step 1 to setup your BIOS to boot from CD or USB flash drive depending on your installation media.
3. On the Install Windows page simply enter your preferences and click next.

4. Accept the Windows license agreement.

5. On the “Which type of installation do you want” page go ahead and choose the “Custom” option.

6. Select Drive options (advanced) on the “Where do you want to install Windows” page.

7.  Select the partition that you want to change, choose the formatting option you want to perform and then follow the instructions.
When allocating space choosing the default MB size for your drive is typically the best for most users since you want to take full advantage of all your disk... Read more

When I start up my pc, I get a screen that says, "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully, a recent hardware or software change may have caused this, ….etc."
Then I am offered with a bunch of options to either:

1) Start in Safe Mode
2) Safe Mode with Networking
3) Safe Mode with Command Prompt
4) Start Windows Normally
5) Last Known Good Configuration

None of them work, the safe mode ones, show a bunch of lines of code as per normal when starting up safe mode, then it freezes and stops and eventually goes back to the screen mentioned above. Yesturday my vista was working great, and on the screen as i went to shut it down said "updating files do not shut down computer 3/3 100%" but it stayed like that for 4 hours, so i turn it off manualy once i turned it back on the next day it asked me for my password i put it in and as it was loading it was vey slow and would take 5-6 minutes for programs to load up.

Also when i go to click on like my internet it dont work, not even my games work, they try to load then freeze. So i did a scan on it and its still having this problem. After i got frustrated i went to shut it down again and it says "logging off" but stays like that for hours, so i have to manualy turn it off. Now with internet issue, it works in safe mode with connection, but not in my normal screen. WHY IS THIS DOING THIS?

]so I just reinstalled windows on my new computer and I am finding that when my "My book" fire wire drive is connected, the computer takes forever to load past the black windows loading screen.
With my old computer the system would boot fine with the drive connected (no changes have been made to the external drive)

the drive is formatted with two partitions - 1 is a large 400something gig partition NTFS and then there is a small 8giig or so partition that is formatted for Mac (took me a while to figure out how to do that)... I have macdrive 7 installed on the computer (same as the old computer) so it can read the Mac formatted partition.

I would understand if its something like "the Mac partition can't be read until windows starts because it has to load macdrive software - and therefore hangs on the load screen TRYING to read the drive"
BUT - it worked with the exact same setup before... so I don't see why it wouldn't now.

Any ideas as to why windows wont load when the drive is connected?

Nothing will load on my Compaq Presario 700 notebook. It wont even turn on in safe mode.
When I go to turn it on it sounds like the hard drive attempts to spin. I don't hear the fans, but all the lights come on. The battery is fairly new and everything is plugged in properly.
All this began when I was running Macromedia Dreamweaver MX and it locked up forcing me to shut down.
Any ideas?

Backstory (skip if you need)
I'm fixing someones laptop, It was slow and taking 30 minutes to startup, i did the usually virus scan and restarted, then it was stuck in an auto repair loop. I used a windows 8 Install CD from microscoft. None of the options in it would work, install (key doesnt match) reset (missing partition), image recovery (cant find an image), restore (no restore point), etc.

Used command prompt, did stuff like bootrec, bcdedit, diskpart, and chkdsk. After it ran chkdsk it finally loaded windows. I reset/reinstalled the OS completely. Fixed, restarted, running smooth. Owner said it was working great for a day, then after turning it back on it was in an auto repair loop.

Now
It's stuck in a preair loop, I can't even boot from the 8 CD! Have it configured in the bios, it shows the the blue windows logo then the screen goes black for 3 minutes and a blue screen flashes for 1 second saying  "Your PC ran into a problem and need to restart. Collecting some info (0% complete) search online for error: 0x000021a"

The weird thing is, Windows 7 disks boot fine, but it's "not compatible". And if I physically remove the HDD, it will boot into the windows 8 CD. So I put the HDD back in (while still at the command prompt) and it wont take my commands in related to the C: . I get a "System cannot find the drive specified"

I also tried hooking upp the HDD to my PC SATA, it shows in explorer, but just right clicking it crashes explorer.exe. D... Read more

A:Windows wont load, Boot CD wont load, Automatic Repair Loop

UPDATE:

I got a windows 8.1 disk made and it allowed me yo boot from the CD, but it's SLOOOOW, it takes minutes to load reset or w.e (none of them still work), or open the command prompt.

I ran chkdsk /f /r /x but it didnt help. chkdsk /r ends with:
"A disk read error occurredcc0000185
Insufficient disk space to fix the Usn Journal $J data stream."

Before when I ran it, I'm pretty sure it let me restart and booted into windows, not now.

Next I tried bootrec.
/fixmbr - succesful
/fixboot - succesfull
/rebuildBCD - Total identified Windows installations: 0
/scanOS - Total identified Windows installations: 0

Next bcdedit
Nothing worked "The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The requested system device cannot be found."

Next sfc /scannow
"There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again."
Then sfc /SCANNOW /OFFBOOTDIR=c:\ /OFFWINDIR=d:\Windows
"Windows resources protection didnt find integrity violations"

BCDBoot c:\WindowsFailure when attempting to copy boot files

Next diskpart - but I forgot what I did before that may have worked. All i can remember is I had to select a disk or volume, and do something with it.

Hi guys

I started at University the other day, and the internet has been working fine, until yesterday when I came back to campus after returning home for a few days.

I tried straight away to sign into oovoo, but it wouldnt sign in.. so I tried skype.. and it loaded. Then I stopped the call after chatting for a while and I tried to switch over to my other skype account. It wouldnt sign in.. just like the oovoo problem.

Today, Google has been loading fine all day long under the google.co.uk address, but now when I try to load it, it comes up as if it cant load (like when you dont have a connection, but I can still load the google search engine by going through my gmail account and clicking on the search on the top toolbar. And Im using the internet now, so I know it works apart from that.

Anyone know whats going on? Im using a Acer Aspire 5733Z with Windows 7 64bit, if that helps at all.

Chris

2 minutes after I post this, google.co.uk now loads and works fine for me, but oovoo and skype are still down. Seems strange this..

Hi,
2 days ago till now, the internet wont load. Ive tried everything from clearing cookies, to deleting programs. The dsl box has all lights functioning and the internet connections in the XP control panel state im connected, but when IE loads up it just says page loading till it ultimately times out, and brings me to a troubleshooting box that says that it cant detect and internet connection, possibly due to firewall settings.
I havent changed anything on my firewall or antivirus programs. AVG has, however, caused this to happen in the past.
I contacted YAHOO and they said the internet was down in my state and to wait 6 hours, but its been 24 hours and I was at my friends house yesterday and yahoo works fine there,i dont think thats the case.

I ran many virus and spyware programs and detected nothing, but could it be a virus?

Might be a failing Hard drive. Get to your bios and see if there is any diagnostics there to do a hard drive test. On some motherboards its delete on others its F2. If there is no diagnostics on the bios i would make a USB bootable diagnostics and do that.
I just had the same problems and found out the hard way that it was a hard drive.

hi,
im using windows 7 64 bit and recently, as in about 3 weeks ago, major sites like yahoo and youtube fail to load at random times. ive done ccleaner and that fixed it temporarily, as well as avast and malwarebytes scans, but the problem still comes up. i've tried these sites on my desktop computer also running windows 7 64 bit to find out if maybe it was just the router or internet in my area, but the computer loaded pages with no problem. im afraid its malware, spyware, etc.. ive done a HJT scan and any help analyzing the log would be greatly appreciated.
thanks.

Our family computer is randomly having trouble connecting to the internet when loading some web pages or web pages wont load. I occasionally have the same problem with my laptop but never at the same time. Which leads me to believe it is not likely my router. Would that be correct? My wife plays alot of games from Yahoo Games. Could that be a source of some of the problems?

I have some of the tools I believe will be needed to clean the system loaded to my desktop ready to go. I need some direction to be sure I don't go out of order and cause a bigger problem.

Thank you

Update. AVG free is finding nothing. Ad-Aware SE would hang up on me but I think the panda scan took care of that because I ran ad-aware again and it ran through to completion... however it didn't fix any problems.
My Pole Display for our store is not working from the COM port.
My Graphics card isn't giving me the technicolor display anymore because I disabled it, but of course now I can't play games without the hardware acceleration. When I enable it and start the system over it does it all over again.
Generally comp runs slow... When I go to shut down I have to close lots of dll file programs. On start up I get pop ups.

Please help...

I have an hp g72 and I encrypted my hard drive with truecrypt and I am unable to to anything with my computer now for the most part. In truecrypt setup i chose to not encrypt the startup files (I ask asked if i wanted to encrypt them and it said some computers need theses to be unencryted and some work fine without). If the HDD is plugged in, I cant do anything at all. I tried to get into bios and it recognizes that i press the key by saying something along the lines of "press f10 to enter bios" where it had said "press esc for options", then it goes to a black screen where I can not type. When I remove the HDD I can access bios and I changed the startup delay to 5 sec (to possibly give me more time to enter bios) and i changed boot order to boot from cd (my truecrypt recovery cd) but neither helped. Now my computer will boot from the cd if there is no HDD but I have the same problem when I put the HDD back in. I have also cleared the CMOS by removing the battery for 5 min. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A:Computer wont boot or access bios with HDD attached after encryption

It seems very odd that a hard drive would prevent the BIOS from operating in the way you mention. It does sound like an error has occurred with truecrypt and the boot loader section has been damaged.

I suggest you read through the truecrypt rescue instructions and see if you can restore the drive.

I don't know what I did wrong in my posting but I never got a reply

anyways.. I have an update just in case someone finds themselves in a similar situation with similar conditions.

I kept running malwarebytes (total full scans= 4) and also Spybot search and destroy until I have no other infections, the infection was first found within a folder inside documents and settings (I forgot the location) and later it appeared in a system volume folder (I believe it was one of the folders from system restore) eventually no other threats were found, then I was able again to load the system in normal mode (the malwarebytes scans were being done in safemode) and after several reboots for testing there were no more traces of the infection causing the random errors when opening applications, and no more missing icons and sections. I did a house call scan and a karspersky online scan with no threats found. system became properly responsive again.

the treat had a very special behaviour: in the middle of my attempts to get rid off it, there was a point in which the system responded so well that I thought that the threat was gone (after first malwarebyte run), when I rebooted though I was back to square one. the lesson learned is that malwarebytes or the tools being used may have to be run more than once until full cleaning is confirmed.

keeping fingers crossed customer may not call back in a while!

Have you tried booting into Last Known Good Configuration ?

-1. Turn on your computer

-2. Keep pressing the F8 key while it boots up to get the Boot Menu (Safe Mode, Last known good configuration, etc will be listed in it)

-3. Use the arrow keys to highlight Last Known Good Configuration, and then press ENTER.

See if that helps resolve your problem...

Lets start from the beginning..this is the kids pc and it wouldn'r boot W2K stating something was missing (I can't remember what this was as I started trying to get this machine going over a month ago)...long story..erased the HD and was going to reload W2K. Would boot up far enough to say it couldnt read drive A. Went into BIOS and changed it to boot to CD only....starts to load and shuts down - then it won't power off.----> Sometimes it will power off to reboot and sometimes not. Once I actually got it to start booting windows to have it stop 1/3 of the way in. So I thought HD...they had a crappy 6.8 gb in there anyway. Replaced HD today added memory and I am still having the same problems. I am thinking power supply, motherboard or processor. Where do I start without feeding excessive money into this project and pulling all my hair out?

my sisters computer is infested with viruses so i downloaded malwarebytes and mse and updated them, i changed her computer setting to safe mode and rebooted and was planning on trying to rid some of the viruses. now the computer lists all the drivers it's loading and freezes after it gets to drivers\CLASSPNP.sys
it sat there for about 10 minutes so i restarted it and it gave me the option to start windows normally, or in safe mode. if i choose the latter, i get the same problem as above. if i choose to start it normally, it lists all the drivers like before, gets to classpnp.sys, then goes to a black screen saying the computer is loading in safe mode with minmal services. then it goes to a black screen and just sits there. All i did really was change from normal startup to safe mode now i cant load windows or something. Anyone have an idea?

However now it wont load up. It posts etc, gets to the windows splash screen then brings up the bit that says, Windows didnt shut down correctly, boot in safe mode, last know good settings or just boot up windows.

I have tried each option several times, but the damn thing wont booot up.

Any suggestions will be gratefull. If not then ima just go f-disk it and reinstall everything i guess.
