[SOLVED] BSOD Caused by Failed MUI language pack update

Q: [SOLVED] BSOD Caused by Failed MUI language pack update

Hey, guys this is my first post but this is my last resort before i just run a magnet over my harddrive and stab myself in the neck with a trowel - a day or too ago i performed a clean installation from a bootable usb of win 7 64bit ultimate onto my custom desktop i had built. I had previously had win 7 32bit home prem. at the end of the installation it said a few things couldnt be configured and wanted me to redo the installation and so i did: same thing happened. i got impatient and shift-f10'ed cmd prompt and then manually finished the installation via msoobe.exe. got to the desktop and all was good. installed all the 64 bit drivers and copied my stuff over etc. then i performed a restart so that the drivers could install. then on restart my computer began configuring updates... nothing out of the ordinary until i get something along the lines off 'updates failed to configure reverting... dont turn off'. I let that finish and now when it restarted i got to starting windows when all of a sudden it bluescreens with the 0x0000012a 'No MUI lnguage pack or something like that'. attempt to boot into all 3 types of safe mode - same BSOD So i perform a startup repair and get nowhere. run a sfc scan and chkdsk and thats when i realized that cmd couldnt even recognise the c:\ and now im lost. WHAT DO???? please help me.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Where did you obtain your installation media for Ultimate? I suspect the install media was bad and resulted in a bad install.

Failed to install .NET Framework 4.5.2 Japanese language pack on English version of Windows 8.1.

I changed UI language to Japanese from English in Control panel on Win8.1. Then, I installed .NET Framework Japanese language pack.
However, the installer stopped installation and shows messages like an "Unsupported environment".
Is there any way to install Japanese language pack?

Right click on the language and then click Hide update.
You must repeat this for all the language packs.
You can do this for everything in the update list.
When you finish,to close the window press the X button not the cancel button.
The next time you check for updates they wont appear.

Hi I've been trying to install Japanese for the last few hour when Update gave me this code 800706BE and whenever I'd install it, it give a message box saying

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unsual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information

Incidentally whenever I would go to "Install display languages" then "Browse computer or network" it would give the same exact message box then another saying "Language Pack Installer has stop working"

I think I have the option of re-installing the OS but incidentally I just did that 16 hours ago when I installed a new MOBO teehee...so I really don't want to go back there installing language usually being the last thing I do when prepping up, I would have to redo everything from the start again, any ideas?

I have a computer (an Apple iMac with Windows 7 Ultimate x64) that had automatic updates disabled, with no manual updates made, for 2 whole years. I decided to try and update it, which there were around 150 updates to install, and naturally there were some hiccups and failures not that I understand it all. But, one the things I wanted to install most, was the Japanese language pack (just for fun and for other reasons). But I get this error: "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."

So I read that CheckSUR is a useful way to get a lock on these update problems, I downloaded the latest version from https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/947821. The first and last CheckSURs I did are attached (CheckSUR2.log was the last one). The first CheckSUR I ran seemed to fix something:
(fix) CSI Catalog Missing CSI File Replaced File: 699638d65bbbf0bc725aaf1cb4a90b99ab47dd2cedd23380e2e21e383c2a22fa.cat From: C:\Windows\servicing\Packages\Package_7_for_KB2732059~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.5.1.cat
The KB number on there, KB2732059, is part of two other errors that didn't go away in the last CheckSUR I did. I also ran an sfc /scannow which gave perfect results.

Apparently you're supposed to run these commands to run CheckSUR stuff:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
The first one worked fine but the second one g... Read more

A:Can't install language pack, runtime terminates when attempting update

Hey, what the ****! I actually got it to work this time! I lied, I wasn't using the latest version of CheckSUR, but then I was and I figured I could use Restorehealth to make it work maybe cause it was newer and that's how I need to fix the files (which didn't work, so...)...but just now the CheckSUR (Scanhealth, though) that I figured I'd try and run anyway using the new version...came out clean! I'm really surprised, I didn't think it could just fix itself like that. Sorry for posting. I guess it really needs to be STRESSED that the CheckSUR version is very important for all the scanning/fixing procedures.

I am running Windows 7. For some reason the list of updates includes an update for Office XP Service Pack 3. However, this update always fails. Why does Windows 7 include an update for Office XP. All the other updates install fine.

A:Office XP Service Pack 3 Update Failed

Thats because your computer is likely set up for Microsoft update rather than plain windows updates.

Quote:
While Windows Update provides you with updates specifically for Windows, Microsoft Update expands the service to download and install updates for other Microsoft software, such as Microsoft Office and Windows Live. Automatic updating is a feature that allows you to set your PC to automatically download and install updates using either service, making it easy and convenient for you to keep your Windows PC current.

You can turn off office update listings by clicking on "Change settings" in the left panel on the Windows update page, then unchecking the box under the heading "Microsoft updates". Alternatively, you can just right click on the offered office update and hide it so it wont show up in the future.

I installed Windows 8 Pro and installed an additional language(let's say it's B) pack, changed system display language to B, and system locale to B.

And I got infinite BSOD after installing some drivers(not related to language pack, just I made mistake installing old programs), so I 'refresh'ed the system.

Guess what, after the refresh, system display was set to English(united kingdom, which is default), AND system locale remained as language B.

This is the problematic part;
1.I CANNOT change system display language to B, it says it's unavailable.
2.The system regards the language pack is already installed because I can still use B as system locale.
3.I cannot reinstall or remove the language pack. LPKSETUP doesn't detect B.

SO i'm pretty much stuck, and I don't want to reinstall just to change the system display language.

Is there any solution to this(removing/reinstalling language pack)?

A:[SOLVED] Language pack fails to install

Hello sam1441

There has been issues with regards to installing language packs. Its mainly PC's that have pre-intalled versions of Vista on purchase as the files aren't read by Microsoft as being the same file types for the language packages (Basically preinstalled with local setting software)

Try downloading the Update and the Hotfix then reboot and then install the independent Language pack

Reboot and repost

Hello, first time posting please bare with me.

I am trying to update a family members laptop which is a Dell Inspiron 1720 with vista home premium pre-installed. Windows update recommends Windows Vista SP1 (KB936330). Made several attempts to download and install this update and haven't had any success. The update runs like normal and automatically restarts the computer, then I get a window with some info saying the update failed to install. Error code 8007371C, and error code 8007000D. Two different codes for two different attempts.

I troubleshooted this through microsoft help and solutions and followed their instructions. I downloaded the stand alone 32-bit package from the microsoft download center and ran it, my computer froze up during the install (the install was supposed to take around an hour to complete) so after a few hours frozen I chose to cancel the install and try again. I still haven't attempted a re-install. Thought I would see if anyone else knows how to fix this issue first.

Thanks

I was installing the Windows Vista Service Pack 1 so that I can install office 2010. The installation seemed to fail and stall on a black screen with some text about the registry. I turned the computer off and took the battery out to make sure it was off. I waited 5 minutes and tried to boot up at that blue screen with the choice of "safe mode" and "recovery mode" etc. I tried all the options available and all have failed. I tried the Vista recovery disc and it failed to. I don't have a Vista installation disc and don't want to buy one. I do have a Windows XP installation disc. The question is: Can I install XP on my laptop over the Vista that is already installed? Please help me.

A:BSOD on Vista after Service Pack 1 failed to install

NOTE: I have severe eye problems. If I do not respond to your postings, please PM another staff member for assistance.

I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests (located at this link: Hardware Diagnostics ). They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:

Quote:

H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
Hard Drive Diagnostics (read the details at the link) - Test ALL of the hard drives.

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: Free Online AntiMalware Resources (read the details at the link)
There are also free, bootable antivirus disks at this link: Free Online AntiMalware Resources - Bootable Disks

You can attempt to install XP on the system - but you have to have a valid product key for XP that will work with the XP installation disk. You will have problems with getting drivers, so you'll need another computer to communicate with us while trying to get all the drivers (there is guarantee that you'll be able to get all the drivers that you'll need).

Start with the diagnostics above, that'll tell you if the system is sound enough to install Windows

earlier today i installed the latest security updates released by microsoft along with the malicious software removal tool update. upon completion of the updates i restarted my computer as usual to finish the installation. when it rebooted i was unable to log-on. i would click on the picture and the circle would spin like it was busy but after a few seconds my screen went black and then came back bit nothing changed. after a restart in safe mode and a system restore everything is working again. has anyone else experienced anything of this sort with these updates?

A:Windows update caused bsod

I had downloaded those updates a bit earlier, and postponed rebooting, because of being involved in a TV program, but reading your question, I went ahead and rebooted. Fortunately, it didn't hang on the reboot for me, so I guess that you just got a bad download. The point at which it hung is where that it continues configuring the updates. Since you did a System Restore, I would imagine that the installation of the updates were erased, so you might try running Windows Update again and see what happens.

Hi everyone, I recently installed Windows 7 Home Premium.

There seems to be a problem with the windows update feature which is causing constant blue screens. It will attempt to download windows updates and stay at "0% at 0kb". I'll leave this for an hour and it will stay the same. I go to reboot the computer and it decides to install updates that it says it hasn't downloaded. I have been doing this for the past week to try and get all the updates for windows.

I have attempted two fresh installations of windows but I'm not sure if the primary partition formatted properly the second time before installing.

Every 20 minutes my computer will blue screen whenever I try to watch a video or just generally browsing on google chrome.

I am 95% sure my computer is blue screening because all the windows updates haven't downloaded, I noticed this happened last year when I didn't download all the updates after installing windows. After they were installed all the problems disappeared.

Most of the blue screens have the error code 0X000000E and NON_PAGED_AREA

I am worried by not being able to see what updates are downloading that my computer has skipped some important updates as it downloaded 248 updates and then failed and after that only installed 100.

Is there anyway to fix this? Or at least manually download all the windows 7 updates to make sure I have them all?

Thank you.

Hi,

After performing a fresh install along with the basic drivers to get me going everything went fine. however after windows connected to the internet and downloaded and installed the so called important updates the system restarted just before windows logon screen it was applying the usual changes got to about 32% of 5 of 5 updates then bsod on me. the only way i could get back into system was to boot into safe-mode then let it revert/roll back. iv not changed the hardware and in all the times ive done this before iv never had this happen before. due to disability i rely on pc for everything please advise.

many thanks

Hello, nwalker78 and welcome to the Forums. I will try to help you if I can. You had 3 dump files and all 3 were the same.

Code:
BugCheck A, {0, 2, 1, fffff80002ec6b5f}
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for SYMNETS.SYS
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for SYMNETS.SYS
Probably caused by : NETIO.SYS ( NETIO!WfpExpireEntryLru+17 )
Followup: MachineOwner
The NETIO is the Windows controller for the network I/O system. SYMNETS is your Symantec/ Norton NIS/ N360 Network Security driver. It appears that your Norton product is causing issues with the Network system and causing it to crash. Notice that the Norton driver is their Network Security Driver. Norton/Symantec has been a well known cause of BSODs for some time.

I would remove Norton and use their removal tool (https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/...rProfile_en_us) and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials (Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows) to see if that will resolve your problem. Try that and let me know how it works for you. If you get any more crashes, please upload another DM Log.

Greetings,

Windows 7 Home Premium automatically updated last night and now when the computer gets to the Loading Windows animation, it freezes after about 1 second, then I get a BSOD with a STOP: 0x000007b (0cFFFFF880009A9928, 0xffffffffc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) error - I have 2 Windows 7 partitions on a single hard drive - partition 2 has Windows 7 Home Premium as well, but does not have the update (haven't used that partition in months) - the (non-updated) 2nd partition boots up fine (rules out hardware issue).

So far I tried Windows' auto startup repair both from the partition and from a recovery disk with no luck.  Safe mode gives the same error. Any clues on how to undo the Update via Advanced Startup Repair (the automatic repair isn't working and there are no restore points found, so I'd likely have to do it manually via CMD)?  I've tried Chkdsk /f /r already and it showed 0 bad sectors but displayed  "failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 50"

Bottom Line:  Any clue how to fix the startup without reinstalling/formatting?  I'm guessing I'd need to remove the failed patch somehow (Dism.exe?) via Command in the Advanced Repair environment, but I don't know how to.

Computer Specs:
ASUS Bamboo edition laptop (U43F)
Windows 7 Home Premium SP1
Intel i5

I just bought a new desktop. I currently have windows 8, but it is in german and i want it in english. If i open the control panel, it says that i'm using the english language pack. The store doesn't show the option to upgrade to windows 8.1 (i have already installed all of my updates and the computer fits the minimum requirements for the update.)

Any idea how to get this thing into english?
i'm ok with a downgrade to windows 7, too, although i doubt that would be easier.

A:Language pack?

Depends on your version of Vista. You can purchase them for the Home/Home Premium editions, and I think that they're free for the Business/Enterprise/Ultimate editions (they're optional updates in Windows Updates).

Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 with Windows XP Media Center; I have installed Service Packs 2 and 3.

The problem I have has to do with installation. I have tried on numerous occasions to install IE 7, but I have never been able to do so. I have even tried to install it manually, but without success. No error messages appeared. There was only an icon on the desktop; when I clicked on that, it took me to a web page with a list of common problems encountered when installing IE 7.

I believe that the problem is connected to the language bar. In the past I've had some problems with previous installations when I've had Polish enabled in the language bar (either the installation does not complete itself or the program is installed with menu bars, etc. in Polish). So now whenever I want to download and install (or install something from a CD), I (1) go to "Control Panel," and "Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options" (2) disable/remove Polish, (3) reboot the computer, (4) reboot again, and then (5) download/install the program. I do all that because, even though English is always the first language listed, when I have Polish enabled, the installation wizards always appear in Polish (I live and work in Poland. However, I bought the computer (July, 2005 in the US). Because of these installation problems, I removed Polish from the language bar several months ago.

When I first downloaded IE 7, about halfway through the installation, I noticed that ... Read more

I ran the lastest Windows updates on my PC and when it rebooted it was stuck on the "Configuring Windows do Not Shut Down" screen for hours. Finally, I shut down and the PC would not start up. I tried to do a system restore to before the Windows update, and got errors. However, the PC did start up (and actually said the restore worked), but not everything is functioning correctly on the PC (there is no HDMI sound for example and Google Chrome Updater will not connect to the internet).

I tried to do another system restore from within Windows and got the error message in the attached screen shot.

Does anyone know how to get system restore to start working again?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi, i've recently bought a game that requires me to download the korean language pack files. I did this and when i go to install them from the control panel it asks me to insert my Windows XP home CD and load a file called "msmincho.ttc".
I bought my PC as part of a package and the Windows XP CD did not come with it. I only received a restore floppy disk from packard bell.
Is there any way of installing these files without the CD?
Thanks

Hi everyone, I have a question. I visited this car accessory site, ind-distribution.com using IE7. When I tried navigating through the site a small window popped up saying that I had to install a korean language pack in order to view the webpage correctly. So, I proceeded with the install and the installation proceeded to install files into my windows and system directories. When the install is done, I continue to navigate through the site, but notice there's no korean characters? It's a US based site as well. So, now I'm paranoid...did I install something that could potentially be harmful to my system? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
