Did I do something incorrect

Q: Did I do something incorrect

Some 4 days ago I submitted the following post. It has had some 40 views, but not a single reply. If I submitted it incorrectly could someone tell me so I can do it properly. Brian

If someone can help me with my problem, I would be most gratefull. For the past 2-3 weeks when I do a Google search the results come up as normal, then when I click on an entry more often than not I am directed to a different site than the one I expect. Most times I can press the back button and try again, this time with success. However too ofted I am directed to "online-free-scanner.biz or .net. when this happens my antivirus (Microsoft Security Essentials) flags up an alarm and invites me to remove the threat, which it seems to do successfully. these threats is: "TrojanDownLoader:JS\Renos" when this happens I am recommended to download their Scanner. I refuse and am then unable to get out of Firefox unless I close it down with Task Manager.I think I have successfully blocked access to this site in Internet Explorer but there seems not to be the same facility within Firefox.
I have run the following programs in an attempt to remove whatever is causing the re-direction with no avail
Microsoft Security Essentials
CC Cleaner
Spybot
Malawarebytes-anti-Malware
Super antiSpyware
Gooredfix.
I have searched the Internet and am somewhat confused at the number of different and complicated solutions offered.
I have spent many hours trying to resolve my problem, and now wonder if one of your experts can help
I do not have access to a Windows Install Disk or a Boot Disk, my PC has a seperate dirve "D" drive with all the installation info on it. I have never used it.
my DDS >.txt is:

Preferred Solution: Did I do something incorrect

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Backing up movies onto my hard drive, I've noticed some of my .avi output files play with an incorrect aspect ratio on Windows Media Player. Playing them on the DivX player on the other hand, the aspect ratio appears fine and exactly as how it should be. As I play them on Windows Media Player, two of my avi videos appear flattened from top to bottom (stretched from side to side); one of my avi files appears flattened side to side. Attached are screen-shots of the discrepancies. Any help on rectifying these issues is greatly appreciated.

When I attempt to open the proggies it opens a box for a second then closes. I paused it a couple of times and all it said was" incorrect version of dos" or "program cannot find itself"
Any Ideas?

Gates said the release of XP "marked the end of an era, the end of DOS and also the end of Windows 95."

DOS is the text-based system that powered Windows PCs, and still lurks underneath Windows 3.1, 95, 98 and Windows Me.

Sorry, no more DOS, Have a good day.

I was just wanting to share this.
I'm sure that many people already know this trick.

I was installing Vista Home Premium OEM (Acer notebook).
Using an OEM Installation DVD (no service pack).
When it asked for the product key. It would not accept it.
(something like "the key is incorrect")
I continued the installation without putting in a product key.
I then installed SP1, then SP2.
I was then able to enter the product key, and activate over the internet.

A:Incorrect Product Key. Possible fix for it.

Thanks for sharing your fix. Hopefully it will help others with the same problem.

Hi All. I thought MS had cleaned up their act regarding nonsensical messages, but I was wrong. What does this message mean and what are the corrective actions? My problem started when I purchased a Brica DigiArt 300 camera and its included Ulead Explorer software. I have 2 machines both running XP and at SP1. When I tried uploading images from the camera on the 1st machine using a front USB port, the camera was not recognized, but eventually XP gave me the removable disk message but no other data information which meant I could not upload the images. I tried the other machine and after several attempts, the Wizard came on and it allowed me to upload images to a folder. However, I have since purchased a Canon MP370 printer for this machine and it uses an USB port. Now when I try to upload images from the camera, nothing happens similar to machine 1. In frustration I went and purchased a memeory card reader for an SD card. I went back to machine 1 and using a front USB port tried to load images. The machine recognized and installed the camera as a device but as the load was happening the machine froze and then came back with the Incorrect Parameter message. I could see some of the images in the preview of Ulead, but the rest had a message saying 'Downloading'. The reader works fine on machine 2 with the new printer. The Incorrect Parameter is for drive G, E and F being used by my son and his games. A tech friend suggested I try the back USB ports on machine 1. Any... Read more

It is possible that the front USB ports are not 2.0 and your new hardware is only usb 2.0 compatible...

What a complete mess microsoft!!

A:The password is incorrect

Hello awiklendt,

That error means that you just entered your password incorrectly in netplwiz.

You should be able to click on OK in the error message, then sign in with your correct password. After you are signed in, go back to netplwiz, and start over entering your correct password to stop this.

Can you open Windows Update from the Control Panel and uninstall the updates that were installed on the 2nd? Let me know if that works and we shall continue to see what caused the problem, I've not seen any other reports of those updates causing a problem so something on your system may have caused the issue.

I am the sole user of my PC and so I set it up to by-pass the password entry screen and boot straight into the start screen.

Two weeks ago I started to receive an error message on start up. The message tells me that the username or password is incorrect, try again.

When I type in the password it goes to the start screen without a problem.

I changed the password, same result.

I decided to wait until the upgrade to the Anniversary Edition arrived , but it has not made any difference.

Help please ?

A:Incorrect User Name

Hello lumbco,

The password that you enter in netplwiz while setting up Windows to automatically sign in to your account at startup doesn't get updated if you make changes to your password. This would be why you are getting this message.

To fix this, you'll just need to set up netplwiz again using the correct password.

Where do you get this error before dial tone after it dials the number and handshakes or wne you first start up DUN? Also are you using DUN or are you using a Connection created via the network connections field? They are 2 different types and use different system info.

If in fact it is DUN have you copied the *.pbk file from a working 2000 to this one that is getting the error 87? Does the error persist?

Have you ensured the modem works correctly as it should through hyperterminal just dialing a number such as your cell? Do you get connectivity that far?

Hi
I am getting an inorrect IP address. Until last night my PC was running fine
automatically getting an IP address.
It should be 192.168.0.5x, but instead I'm getting 169.254.41.xx. I have
tried restarting my PC, and also restarting the router. The network
connections tab says that the network is connected. Also when I tried to ping
the router instead of saying 'pinging 192.168.0.1' it says 'pinging '.
There are 4 other PCs connected to this network, and they are all running
fine, and the network has been running for over a year now on these settings
without problems.
I am using windows XP home edition, all the latest updates installed. The
router is set up as a DHCP server, with reserved addresses set up for the
main devices accessing the network.
Apparently I'm getting an APIPA address not a DHCP address, my knowledge of this is limited to

Please help, as this is somewhat frustrating

This morning I turned on my computer and AVG and my Last.fm program kept showing errors that the date and time on my computer are wrong. I went to synchronize the time and it would not update because it said the incorrect date was selected. I changed the date to today's date, but today's date falls on a Sunday according to the date on my computer. I made sure the year was correct and I ran a virus scan, and it hasn't done anything to fix the problem. Any suggestions?

A:Incorrect Date

If your computer keeps losing its time and date then this is a sign that the CMOS/BIOS battery needs replacing.

I had this working before, and I moved my computer to another room. My guess is I reconnected the monitors in a different way than I had them (I've since tried switching them).

My video card is: ATI Radeon HD 4350
It has one Digital and one Analog port on the back.

I had it setup using 1920 x 1080 on both ports (dual monitor).

But I can't get that to work again.

When I set the monitor using the VGA port to 1920x1080 then it displays 1280x720 on the monitor, but the video card is outputting 1920x1080. The display seems to scroll when the mouse is on the edge of the screen because obviously it can't display 1920x1080 on a 1280x720 resolution.

So as of now, my monitor is displaying everything really big and it's useless at this point.

Any ideas? I don't know what I did to get it working last time. And I just updated the drivers.

okay so here we go, i reinstalled my version of windows xp home edition and it wanted me to activate windows xp blah blah blah. so it told me to type in the 25 digit product key on the backof my laptop. and yes i typed in the EXACT numerical phrase and checked several times. it keeps saying Inccorect Product Key and it says 45128 for the message number. so then i called so many phone lines until one woman who i could barely understand told me to call HP themselves to get like some new activation key code thingie, but then she said my warentee was over for this laptop and i couldnt use the phone service which she says is the only way to fix the problem, but she said it was gonna cost like 50 bucks a year, but most companies are money-whores so i was wondering if there was any other way i could fix this problem?? thanxxx

I Just Bought A Dell Powerdge 2950,when I Check The Vga Meemory It Give Me 16mb.which I Believe Is Wrong.
I Cant Seem To Figure Out Wat Is Wrong

A:Incorrect Vga Memory

If the video card is on-board the video RAM is taken out of the system RAM and actually expands and contracts as the need arises. The minimum is more than likely 16 Mb so there is nothing to worry about. Since the computer has just been purchased you can try calling the tech support to verify that the 16 Mb is the minimum used by video RAM if you wish.

Im an xpat living in Bangkok, and recently bought a laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium. Its genuine windows and is in English, however sometimes when i install applications they default to Thai Langauge. It had happened with these two apps so far, VLC Player and KM player (KM player the worst, kind find the setting to change it back!)

In the regional settings I have everything set up for English and location as the UK.

I saw this thread when searching: Change your Windows 7 language w/o having ultimate!

however, is this relevent to me, seeing as though windows is already in English? I don't want to go messing and installing stuff if i dont have to. I like to keep my registry tidy

Thanks for any help

A:sometimes incorrect language

oh and just to add, I presume I already have MUI packs installed, as I can change the language to Thia when my girlfreind wants to email her palls. So I'm not sure if that Vistalizator is relevant in this situation.
