Java detection issue

Q: Java detection issue

Hi, first post here for me.. After successfully installing the latest version of Java (6.0.260) and then running the detection tool, it keeps telling me it does not detect Java on my computer. I've tried rebooting after install, uninstalling and reinstalling, using the offline version and every troubleshooting tip listed after the non-detection message. I'm using IE10 with the 32-bit browser. Java used to run fine until lately. I'd appreciate any suggestions on other solutions. Everything I've tried has failed. Thanks!

Preferred Solution: Java detection issue

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have Windows 7 64 bits notebook and having problem with java detection. I installed jave 7 with 64 bits and when I asked for verification, java could not able to be verified. Yet Java was installed showing in control panel. Thus I uninstalled and reinstalled couple of times but the same problem persists.

Sometimes it was said that to remove the older version and install the latest which I did. I had Java 5 now I have Java 7.

I had Java plug-ins enabled by chromelugins page.

Thus, when I try to play yahoo games, my computer loaded the game, but as java applet was not installing, the game was not opening. The page is saying "Error" When I click for details, a small window opened with details of java problem.

Previously I played the same yahoo game on Google chrome with java plug ins at my notebook but now I could not.

Can you please assist me, how can I have java properly installed on google chrome at window 7 OS?

Thank you.

Hello,

I have a Win 7 box that keeps popping up with an Interactive Service Detection window.
It appears to be some kind of Java update problem, but I can't find anything on line after several
hours of searching. I found reference on how to stop the alert, but that doesn't resolve the cause.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thx!

Hi guys

I've a Macbook Pro with the Win7 build 7000 running on it. Everything works fine except the microphone detection of the Realtek HD adapter. the macbook pro only has 2 jacks. one for the headphones and the other should be the mic/line-in.

By plugging in the mic from my headset, the realtek audio manager just shows me an input device instead of the microphone.
The built-in mic from the macbook works fine, but I prefer using my headset for skype.

Is there any workaround to fix this issue? how can i "tell" the realtek audio manager, that the plugged device is a mic?

I already installed the lates realtek HD drivers (2.18) and tried to assign the mic/line-in manually over the registry (Realtek HD Changing Jack output reassignments ( FIX )), but nothing could solve this problem.

here are some screenshots which are describing the issue. yes it's a german installation :-)

many thanks

So...
Having a small issue with my laptop. i looked all over the internet and alas i came up with nothing whatsoever.
I ordered my laptop off of microsoft website because they had a deal for students, this was about 3 years ago.
The other day i was watching a stream on my laptop and it started making clicking noises and froze my computer, i restarted chrome and everything worked fine again.
then about a week later watching another stream, the clicking noises began again only this time it shut my computer off. so i turned it back on and this error came up(No boot device detected. strike F1 to retry boot Strike F2 to run setup utility or F5 to run onboard system diagnostics.)
So naturally i clicked retry boot a couple million times but to no avail nothing worked.
So i ran my onboard diagnostics. and it came up with hard drive not connected. so i was like okay my hard drives fried. so i connected a different one... same error message

So now ive come here for solutions, ive never in my life resorted to posting online about a situation. but this is just insane. either the connection from my computer to my hard drive is fried, Both my hard drives are fried or something in the softwares messed up.
All im asking for is a solution... Thanks.

A:Hardware/Non Detection issue

The hard drive is indeed toast -- if you post the model number (i.e., Inspiron N5110, 5521, etc.) someone can recommend a replacement drive.
If you did not prepare a set of recovery media when the system was new, you'll also need to contact Dell to purchase that now, as you'll need it to reload the operating system once you replace the faulty drive.

Hello,

Long story short, I had a malware infestation on my laptop.  I currently have run the latest versions of the following:

Avast - Full scan
MBAM - Full scan
adwCleaner
RogueKiller
Trend Micro Anti Threat
TDDS

Each one of these seemed to find things here and there, but I still have the problem. Combofix and aswMBR will not run due to "A device attached to the system is not functioning" error.

In Safe Mode Combofix will start to run but then I get a BSOD and reboot.  asw will come up but won't scan says "Error loading driver" when it starts then "Scan Error" when you try to run a scan.

I have two particular URL's coming up that Avast is currently blocking:
www.babaloonx.com and www.colboltuz.com plus one URL that is just an IP.

Any help is appreciated!

Hello guys.

I have a small issue with a drive being detected from within my PC that works from an external caddie.

For a few years i have had two drives inside my system. C drive and F drive. I recently removed both drives when i went off to India for a few weeks for security reasons. Today i find the F drive is not showing up. It is listed under "Show hidden hardware" in the profiles. I opened up the PC and swapped the ribbon cables around and rebooted. It started to install new hardware and stated it had installed it because i seen the name of the installed hardware (The F drive) yet it was still not listed in "My Computer" alongside the C drive. I then removed it an placed in in an external caddie and booted again. I got the same install message ( I had uninstalled the driver prior just in case) and it installed from the caddie and works.

I can not run it from there because i have two other drives that need to be listed for my Music Studio when it scans for files needed to open past and present work that uses files located on those drives my name. The issue can not be the cables as they both run C drive internally.

I will try again later to install it from inside the PC as my main slave drive but it seems null. The issue may be software based or configuration based. But so far , i am mystified by this issue.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

To enable movie viewing on 55" LCD TV

This is a pain in the rear for me but it is the only way to get the HDMI audio recognized as a valid option in Audio Playback devices. (Video always works but the audio is says not connected)

To get the HDMI Audio detected, I have to....
First - On my TV I have to select the HDMI channel that is connected to my PC
Second - I have to un-plug and plug-in the HDMI cable. (I can hear the Windows 7 found hardware sound)
Third - Now I can select HDMI as my default audio device (everything works great)
I usually have to repeat this process any time the PC or TV gets shut off. I am worried about wearing out the HDMI port by plugging and un[lugging so often. This can't possibly be the way it is supposed to work.

This is not an intermittant issue - it is a matter of the ATI HDMI detecting the audio connection and is very repeatable and consistant. All drivers ATI and VIA audio are the latest to date as of today.

Maybe it is the Plug&Play component - TV has to be on when turning on the PC or I have to manually force the detection process (as above)

Video = ATI 4550
MOBO = ASUS P7P55D-E LX

A:ATI HDMI Detection of Hardware issue

I have read many post on this issue and First of all yes the TV must be on at all times on the HDMI signal if you don't want the signal broken don't turn the tv off use you're power saving feature

Let windows turn the monitor off for you that way simple mouse movement will bring back the screen also you should be able to right click and disable onboard then enable the HDMI sound by right clicking

I might add using power saving feature is the only way to keep from breaking the HDMI connection also i don't advise any heibernation or sleep mode because that will just break the signal the best thing to do is let windows turn the monitor off but do not put your machine in sleep mode or any other power save featurn just treat your tv as a monitor

I find this the only and best way to work the ati cards and yes you keep unplugging and plugging the HDMI cable something is bound to go wrong eventually

Error messages have been popping up for a while now saying how I am low on memory, but until now there have been no serious consequences. Now, I can only watch 1 YouTube video at a time and even then, it will usually crash after about 5 minutes. I can't have more than 1 tab open and in general the laptop is slower. It looks like the computer is only able to use 2GB of the 8GB that it knows is installed for some reason. Should I open it up and try to unplug and re plug the RAM back in? I've used CCleaner to clear anything that might be taking up memory and nothing is working. I've also done a full scan with Malwarebytes and come up with nothing. Any help is appreciated.

I am not sure what MOBO I have, but the laptop model is: Acer Aspire V5-573-9863

In addition to this memory issue, I used to have a problem where the CPU would sit at 60%-80% usage for no reason with no applications running, but that issue seems to have sorted itself out. Thought I might mention it just in case it is related. I just remembered that the CPU usage only jumps and sits when I open the Downloads folder in windows explorer, and I can fix it by restarting the Windows Explorer process, but if anyone has any tips on how to deal with that as well, I would appreciate it.

Good day,

I have an unusual situation with my HDMI and would like some advice or ideas.

I have 2 TVs with HDMI input, both LG (I believe 32LH20R and 22LH20R).

When I connect my hdmi to 22lh20r, the sound device says "not connected".
When I connect to 32lh20r, everything works fine.
If I connect to 22lh20r after connecting to 32lh20r, the sound device is now detected!
But when I reset my computer, the sound from 22lh20r says "not connected" again.

I tested two notebooks on it so far, and could reproduce on both. One with a GeForce 9600M GT and the other with a GeForce GT 540M.

I think that this could be some issue with the TV, but since it work after connecting to the other TV, I was thinking if there is a way to force the detection, or to force the driver from one TV to the other, or something like that.

Thanks in advance.
Gui

A:Issue with HDMI sound detection - unusual situation

Additional information:

I tryed to override EDID, with phoenix edid editor and monitor asset manager, but had no success with that. Turns out that they only collect the first 128 bytes from the edid, leaving the CEA extensions out, and this would be where the EDID stores whether the monitor has audio or not. =/

Also, it seems like it's not possible to "force" the playback device to "be detected", or at least I didn't find a way so far.

If anyone could help with EDID overriding, or this way to trick windows into believing HDMI sound is connected, I would appreciate a lot!

Thanks,
Gui

The issue is simply everytime I've used Etrust virus scan when in Internet explorer (have to be) I minimize it, and when I bring it to normal it's fine, but minimize it and bring it up when it's in the Java folder it freezes, should I do an individual scan on the Java folder to see if it has viruses or just make it a special do not scan folder and un-click it when scanning?

A:Solved: Etrust Viruscan does not like Java Program folder: not virus issue but scanning issue

Hi, Often the applets stored from Java usage will trigger either a detection or an issue as you are seeing from antivirus scanners.

I'd suggest clearing the Java cache: see the attached screenshot, your version may be slightly different but you should be able to see where to look, and what to do. (The attached pic is from a slightly older version of the Java...the steps below are up to date, though)

Control Panel> (Switch to Classic View)> open Java

Find the Settings tab/button, and open that...then find the Delete Files button and click that.
It's just deleting the temporary files left from Java applet usage.

Then, after clearing the cache, run your scan again and see if it works correctly.

Hi,
I got a problem with the Internet Explorer 11 installation I received through Windows Update. It is on a
Windows 7 x64 SP1 computer.
The installation failed, and Internet Explorer 11 doesn't appear under the Show Installed Updates section of Programs and Features.
Because of that, Windows Update tries to re-run the update, but keeps failing everytime.
My first idea was to download the IE 11 installer for Windows 7 x64 from Download Center and launch it; it fails with the error message "A more recent version of Internet Explorer is already installed".
When launching IE, effectively, the version is 11.0, but if I try to install an update for IE, like an IE 11 language pack or just a security update, it fails saying it doesn't apply to this system.
So basically, the IE installer detection logic says IE 11 is installed, while Windows Update says it is not, as for other updates related to IE 11. I have a tendency to believe Windows Update since it doesn't appear in Show Installed Updates.
I tried removing the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer registry key and its equivalent under SYSWOW64, no result. I also deleted the iexplore.exe file under Program Files\Internet Explorer and Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer, no result. Removing
those files is not easy since you have to take ownership on each of them because of the default permissions that are very tight.
Does someone knows the detection logic of the IE 11 ... Read more

I've got a really strange problem, that makes it really difficult to post any diagnostic information about the problem. I've tried running HiJackThis, MalwareBytes anti-malware, Trendnet housecall online scanner, GMER, ad-aware, Spybot S&D, RootRepeal and dds.scr. The results are pretty much the same for all of these programs. The scan/analysis starts, sometimes it gets partway through scanning, and then the application window gets closed. After this happens, in the case of .exe files, the resulting program is rendered useless, in that further attempts to launch it result in a "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." and you also cannot rename, or delete the file.

Trend-net housecall is also pretty interesting, in that it runs inside the browser, and after it was terminated (part way through the scan) iexplore.exe now exhibits the same error in not being able to launch. This not being able to launch persists across reboots also. I then installed firefox.exe on the system, was using it for a brief period, tried trend-net housecall and now it too is showing the error in not being able to launch.

dds.scr is able to be to be re-launched, and it brings up the black command window type screen, but never brings up the notepad windows. It seems unaffected by the termination behaviour, and is able to be re-launched.

If I go to Control Panel, and click on Devices and Printers, I see my optical drive listed under Devices as SDRW-08D1S-U, with a small yellow triangle icon with an exclamation point on it. If I double click on it, and then click on the Hardware tab, it states at the bottom – “Device Status: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing.” If I click on the Properties button, it basically says the same thing, with the addition of: (Code 39). I have tried updating the driver, and it states that I have the appropriate and latest driver. I have tried disabling and enabling driver. I have tried right clicking on the icon and Troubleshooting.

Finally, I tried uninstalling the driver. And then when I plugged the drive back in, it states that the “Device driver software was not successfully installed.”

I am using the supplied USB Y cable with both ends plugged in. I have tried it also with only one of the two ends plugged in, and also with regular non-Y configuration USB cables.

I will add that I never installed the original software on the CD that came with the drive. I was about to install it when ... Read more

Have an issue with a system not being able to open the java control panel. When I attempt, a box opens, that is see through [can see my desktop icons] and it just sits there. I checked the add/remove programs, saw there were 3 versions of Java installed, removed them, cleaned the registry, checked for malware, cleared old temp/cache files and reinstalled the newest version: same results.

It all started when I saw my cousin downloaded frostwire and had issues loading it. The splash screen shows up as just a grey box, then the program window is a see through box, and just sits there.

I even restored the system 2 days earlier to rule out any file removal I was doing as part of a clean up, but same thing.

I am at a loss. Any ideas?

First of let me apologise if this is in the wrong section.

My problem is that whenever I open any java file it opens but wont let me select anything within it even the java control panel when I open it I am unable to select anything in it, I have tried reinstalling java, 32 bit and 64 bit I have even done a full reset on my computer and I still have the issue.

I am on Windows 7 64 bit all leave all my computer specs below, I have no idea if they will help but hey ho:

A:Java issue

What exactly do you mean when you say "whenever I open any JAVA file it won't let me select anything within it" ?? What exactly are you trying to do? Are you trying to read/modify JAVA code?

Also how are you opening the JAVA control panel? Are you opening from the Windows control panel or are you navigating to the "javacpl.exe" file in the program files directory? If you have both 32 and 64 bit versions of JAVA installed Windows will open the 64 bit control panel by default if you click on the JAVA icon from the Windows Control Panel.

Here are the locations of javacpl.exe to open the JAVA control panel (where the "xxx" represents the version of JAVA that is installed)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\xxx\bin\javacpl.exe (32 bit JAVA)
C:\Program Files\Java\xxx\bin\javacpl.exe (64 bit JAVA)

You can check your Java version by going to Verify Java Version and clicking on Verify Java Version. You have to use IE or Firefox not Edge browser.

And/Or go to command prompt and enter java -version

The current version is 8.66 (which is shown as "1.8.0_66" from command prompt).

Long story short version:

My husband shoots pool on Yahoo with Java. After a recent virus problem he would get either; java runtime environment cannot be loaded or several java machines are attempting to run in the same program.

I found several fixes that worked for other people. Some of them here, most in other places. None of them worked for me. What worked for me was this:

Uninstall all Windows Live apps.
Unistall Java and all related files.
Shut down computer during The Sarah Connor Chronicles and refuse to have any conversation with anyone about the computer issue while watching it.
Boot up computer.
Download and install Java 6 not Java 6.3.
Download and install Windows Messenger 8.0.

Java now works in the IE explorer but not MSN Premium.
Tell my husband take what he can get, I don't shoot pool and it isn't my computer. If he wants a better fix he can take it to a repair shop!

I hope this helps others like me.

hello Twospirt,

have you tried updating Java ?

here is the link for all java downloads & updates

http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

also follow this link to update (direct x)

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

also

do you have a Windows Xp cd, not the restore cd's that come with some systems, the cd will have the Windows logo & 3D hollowgram/image on it

if you do not maybe you can barrow one from a friend/family member/co-worker as long as it is the same version that is on your system

if you have (Windows XP Home Ed. sp2 ) then the cd will have to be that / if you have a cd with (Windows XP Home Ed. )you will have to slipstream (SP2 ) onto a disk that you create

this also applies to (Windows XP Professsional )

http://www.helpwithwindows.com/Windo...p2-bootcd.html

now if you do have the Windows XP cd with sp2 please follow these steps

--------------------------------------------

performing a (sfc) system file checker

It is a scan that checks the core files & dlls of the (os) operating system and replaces them if they are corrupt or missing with the correct original version

start

#1 then select (run) , then press enter
a window will open
#2 type in ( cmd ) then press enter
another window will open
#3 type in ( sfc )then press enter
another window will open
#4 type in (sfc /purgecache) then enter / your pc will work like crazy / this helps in rebuiding the cache file... Read more

Greetings have an issue that NEEDS professional opinion!

In the past, I've had little errors here & there but didn't do anything but slightly annoy me. Once again Java tries to start up using something from a random site an keeps saying "could not start" an below it is just a png file or something else, I always thought nothing of it. An every time I did get any real problems, I'd just run Combofix to fix the problems. But now, just recently Java tried to start again an failed again an instead of immediately pressing "ok" so the java thing will turn itself off, I opened taskmanager > Processes and found a very weird named exe file running in the background called "ajnkyhusjmo.exe" an I found it by right clicking it > Properties an looking at it's stored location which was "AppData\Local\Temp\fueyjpfvk" before I deleted it from my computer.

Yeah I got rid of a minor problem that had potential to kill my PC, but do you guys think I'll have more problems like this?
Also, in an effort to stop Java from launching another random program, I deleted the file javaw.exe (it was in taskmanager when the other exe was there).
my current Java is Java(TM) Platform, Standard Edition Runtime Environment V6.

So any thoughts on this would be helpful, I am going to run Combofix again just to be sure there is no viruses or whatever on my computer.

Try copying the URL of that site in your "Trusted Sites" in IE by going to Tools->Internet Options->Security... click on Trusted Sites and the "Sites" button. Windows no longer suports their own version of Java becasue Sun Microsystems sued them over M$ stealing Sun's work.
So M$ turned around and called their java the .NET Framework and insists that it's not java, but a completely different thing entierly.
Anyways, this means that if you want java on your webpage nowadays, you need to pay Sun for the privilage.
You, the end user, just need to install Sun's J2SE package.
This is all explained over at http://java.sun.com but basicly what you do is:
1)Uninstall your previous version(s) of Java.
2)Reboot clean with no Java installed.
3)Download the J2SE package from Sun.
4)If you're just jonna veiw web pages that use Java, install the J2SE package. If you are a developer or a programer who likes to write in Java, you need the SDK instead. If you're runing a webserver that uses Java, you need the Enterprise (J2EE) Edition.
5)Pour yourself some strong Java. One lump or two?

I recently bought a new DVD RW drive to replace my old one which had a burnt out laser. When I put in the drives I set up my secondary hard drive and my new drive as cable select and attached the master connector to the hard drive and the slave connector to the DVD. I booted the system and immediately got a boot error saying it couldn't locate either of the IDE drives. So, I spent the next hour or so trying every possible jumper combination setting and got the error no matter what upon boot. Finally I put them both back to CS and just skipped past the error because I was sick of messing with it. To my surprise, the drives showed up in My Computer and functioned but at a very very slow speed. I ran a PC Pitstop scan and it showed a drive speed of 2mb/sec which is really slow. So, clearly something isn't being detected properly. For some reason also, my BIOS doesn't have any "auto-detect" option to try to detect attached drives so in the BIOS it just has two unknown devices attached to the primary and slave IDE drives.

Any help would be much appreciated.... thanks !
THanks

Updated to Java 7-5 through the Java website and Java and Java FX were updated. There was a problem however so I uninstalled Java and Java FX and reinstalled by manually downloading the Java update rather than using the website directly. Java 7-5 was installed and is working but Java FX was not installed. Any idea why Java FX was not installed? Is it because I manually downloaded the package? That doesn't seem to make much sense.

Thanks as always.
VFN

Update: Uninstalled 7-5, installed 7-4 again, then installed 7-5 through the website. Java and FX were both updated but as before Java is not working. It is not recognized as installed on the Java site or other sites where Java is used. Either my PC is messed-up or their online installer is.

Update: Uninstalled 7-5 (though the uninstaller seemed to say 7-4) and reinstalled manually. Things appear to be working.

I hope this is the right forum for this, I didn't see one specifically for Java issues.

For the life of me, I can NOT get Sun Java to work with IE. It works just fine with Firefox and Netscape.

I have checked Internet Options in IE to make sure that Sun Java is checked and JVM is not. I have checked the options in Sun Java and IE is checked. I have restarted, rebooted, re-installed, restarted, rebooted, un-installed, restarted, rebooted, re-installed, restarted and rebooted... blah, blah, blah.

I tried re-installing JVM, but that didn't work either. It worked before, but I got rid of it and updated to Sun Java. So now I don't have any form of Java that works with IE.

Any advice?

I had updated Java SUCCESSFULLY, and, as recommended, uninstalled an earlier version, I had 2 of them, but I did just one, then re-checked for Java installation, which had shown success. Well after the uninstall of an earlier Java it said there was no install, this was on Mozilla latest Firefox, on IE9 it says I have the latest Java. Now I checked in FF for updates to the plugins that I have in addons for Java, say they are all updated. What can I do to fix this? I'm on dial-up and I download at 3.7kb a second so it takes a LONG time to update or download anything.

I noticed that access to my Carbonite back ups had dissappeared. After working with Carbonite tech support and a remote access session I was informed that my problem stemmed from a Java issue in Internet Explorer. They uninstalled Carbonite and advised me to get the problem fixed and reinstall.  My desktop has Windows 7 , Internet Explorer 11 and Java 7 update 40. What would you recommend? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Note: I am not very tech savvy.

A:Java issue with Carbonite

Umm. I'm pretty sure if you're paying for their backup service it's pretty much their responsibility to get their software running on your machine. I've never had issues with their tech support fixing issues for clients. I would recommend going over to Java.com and installing the latest version of Java. When it asks at the end, uninstall the previous versions of Java that were installed. Also consider doing a scan with malwarebytes and your antivirus software as well as cleaning your temp files with something like ccleaner.
Once you have done all that open an elevated command prompt and run sfc /scannow. Once the sfc command has finished try the Install again.
If you can't get the problem solved you should call them back and have them submit a ticket number and transfer you to a higher level technician.

I am having problems with System Restore, and Java. I have dled and reinstalled and uninstalled and repeated the process a half dozen times, and I cannot get Java to work. I just dealt with a virus (smitfraud) attack, http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic170417-15.html (the link to the topic). The other interesting things are that when I open search, my dog is there, but other than that it is a blank window. Thirdly, system restore will not open, and clean manager locks up. My original issue is that my dell laptop locks up better than half the time when loading up. I just do a hard shut down, and try again. Sometimes it is before I even type in my password to log in, other times it is while my startup programs are starting. The mouse cursor just freezes, and the cpu doesn't advance. Any ideas?David
