Preferred Solution: PowerSuite 2009 compatible with Win7?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

powersuite from uniblue software is truth to be told a very good maintance/optimizer program(3 in one)but there is to little information especialy regarding speedupmypc about what this program actually does,i would like to follow the steps closely but that is not an option, not yet anyway.microsoft gold certified partner, they must do something right, and that is also what the reviews tell us,maybe the 2013 version of powersuite will be different who knows.end of story.....

Dear Asser,

here is some information about SpeedUpMyPC:

- Scans your computer and recommends both:

o Tweaks that will help boost PC performance, and

o Cleaning of Junk Files that may slow the system down

- A unique feature of SpeedUpMyPC is SPEED TOOLS. This includes:

o CPU Manager: A faster operating system is delivered by ensuring that runaway processes are not allowed to use all of your computer's processing power. For example if a process suddenly starts taking 100% of your PC’s processing power, SpeedUpMyPC will make sure to lower the priority of that process in such a way to still allow you to continue working on and finish your current task.

o Software launch booster: Speeds up the start up of any software launched on the system

o Proactive thumbnail generator: Users enjoy quicker navigation within File Manager as SpeedUpMyPC pre-loads thumbnail images in advance and the user will be able to view them quicker.

o Start Menu software accelerator: Applications accessed from the Start menu are launched faster

- Easy to scan and improve your system through a very easy process:

o User clicks “Start Scan” button

o SpeedUpMyPC scans the system and suggests improvements on:

? Tweaks

? Speed Tools

? Junk Files to be cleaned

o User can simply choose to apply all recommended improvements or else select only some of them. In either case, SpeedUpMyPC will implement the selected improvements instan... Read more

I plan to buy a new notebook with pre-installed Windows 8

I don't want to use Windows 8 but use Windows 7 instead.

Can I remove Windows 8, then install Windows 7 and use the drivers from Windows 8?

Peter

A:Are Win7 drivers compatible with those of Win 8 ?

Maybe, if they list windows 7 drivers I would use them. I've installed Windows 7 and Windows 8 on my two desktop PC's that have ASUS motherboards and a lot of the drivers are the same for Windows 7 and 8. They will say compatible with Windows 7 x64 and Windows 8 x64 in the description and you will get the exact same download regardless of which OS you select. My new laptop came with Windows 8 but also lists Windows 7 drivers in its downloads. Before you buy just go to the support page for the one you plan to buy and see if there are Windows 7 drivers available for it. If they are dedicated Windows 8 drivers they may not install, you'll get a this OS not supported or something similar message. You could also Google that model to see if anyone tried the OS swap and ran into problems.

I have even searched and deleted files/folders that have my windows live messenger username and contacts as file/folder name
Also, I have uninstalled everything related to Window Live using Revo Uninstaller Pro and the problem persists.

I do not know what else to try/do.

EDIT: I tried the same version of Windows Live Messenger I use on a different computer and it shows my contacts fine.

Hi! My computer is an older Asus notebook. Because of that the drivers are old too and i cant find any. Even if i use windows update utilitys and so on, for searching for drivers, it will find just a few.

But other important drivers, like audio drivers and so on, are hard to find.

I used a free trial of "Driver Whiz" but will not find any new drivers for my computer too.

Does that mean that my computer will not work properly on Win7? Does that mean that it would be better to install XP again?

(A large portion of my issue and what led up to it resides here)

I know barely anything about boot managers and whatnot. This is a part of a long series regarding other problems I've had that I posted previously here a while ago, but no one seemed to know anything about it (although the above link is to another forum).

Well I had gotten past that original problem by forcing the "UEFI DVD drive" to be booted instead of the "BIOS DVD drive" version, as I have the option to pick either type (as to utilize a GPT format instead of an MBR format, I do have a UEFI motherboard by the way). As I try to install Win7 x64, it creates the GPT disk and MSR and EFI partitions correctly, but when the setup restarts for the first time, inbetween the "Installing Updates" phase and "Completing Installation" phase, it gives me this error:

Quote:
Windows could not finish configuring the system. To attempt to resume configuration, restart the computer.

I tried to manually create the GPT disk and EFI, MSR and primary partitions but no change. I tried different permutations of boot orders and nothing changed. Now, I can successfully install Win7 via the "BIOS DVD drive" and use a MBR style disk instead, and it installs fine. The only caveat is I can only boot up Windows in MBR format if I have the installation disc in the DVD drive, which is silly, and refuse to settle for.

Any more information you need please ask... Read more

A:UEFI-compatible Win7 installation

There are special steps to install using the EFI BIOS: UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with - Windows 7 Forums

When installing to an MBR HD if it requires having the disk in the drive in the drive to boot it, post back a screenshot of your maximized Disk Management drive map with listings. You may still need to write the System boot files to the 100mb System Reserved or Win7 partition by marking it Active, running Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots until Win7 starts on its own.

So I'm needing to know whether a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop with a Core 2 Duo processor is likely to support win7 64 bit or not? From what I've read it sounds like it will..

..but, the laptop currently won't boot (hence the need for a windows reinstall) ? is there any way to tell for sure without booting it up?

A:Win7 compatible? can't boot to check..

Check the Dell support website.
If they don't have Windows 7 64-bit drivers for that model, you should not install that OS.

I just checked on your behalf on both the US & UK websites. Dell do not have any Windows 7 drivers for the Inspiron 1525, in fact they don't have any 64-bit drivers at all for that model. They support only 32-bit Windows XP & Windows Vista.

Since Dell laptops require drivers supplied only by Dell, it would be most unwise to install any version of Windows 7 on your laptop. Several components would most likely not work properly if at all.

Hi folks!

Just installed Win7 yesterday and am lovin it! Save for the fact that I cant get one of my favourite games to work becuase its in MDS/MDF format.

Yup! and since SPTD [the driver used by ALcohol 120%, Alcohol 52%, DT,etc] craps out in Win7, I cant use any of those programs!

I tried an old setup of MagicDisc. Got it installed even but thats it. It froze my system and had to manually uninstall it.

Is there any free/paid utility which mounts MDF/MDS images as well as others?

On a side note, I wonder what will happen if we actually take the already installed SPTD driver from another OS [say XPSP3 dualboot] and try to install it? The only reason Alcohol 120% 's setup loops indefinitely is because it fails to DETECT the SPTD driver.

So, if we manage to literally hammer the driver in to place somehow, maybe we can start using our favourite image mounting/burning tools?

A:MDS/MDF Image mounting software compatible with Win7

OK I got PowerISO to work after reading another forum post. But still, I would like to know if we can forcefully install the SPTD driver so that all our favourite virtual CD/DVD tools can work again!

Thanks!

Hello all,

I was wondering if you could help me out here. I'm currently hunting for a software program that I can add all of my music in, correct the filenames, obtain album art, and catalog in a folder hierarchy of my choosing. I know things like WinAmp can do this in their music player, and I know that iTunes tries to as well; I guess what I'm really asking for is a program that doesn't have to play the files, but that exists solely for the purpose of organizing my music? Oh, and if it's natively 64-bit, that doesn't hurt either. (If it's not 64 bit native, I'll live...probably. )

Thanks in advance!

A:Good Win7 Compatible Music Organizer?

I like the free AIMP2 (latest release candidate). It's a player like Winamp, (also recorder, if download the extra AIMP2 "tools"), but it does the organization/playlist thing very well and intuitively. Can use winamp plugins too after just copying the right .dll from winamp into the AIMP2 folder. I like it a lot more than Winamp due to its quality, features, ease of use and looks.

The only question I have is would all the programs I am running now run in Win7 Home Premium since it will not include the Windows XP mode? I never ran Vista so this mode is new to me. I am assuming that if I need to go in and tell it to run in XP mode that that software would not run in Home Premium. Therefore I am also assuming that if I can install software and it runs without me telling it to run in XP mode, then it should be fine in Home Premium. Please correct me if I am wrong or if I am on the right track here. Thanks a lot!

So, to make a long story short, I have a computer I'm supposed to fix for a friend. It gets lots of graphics artifacts, black boxes, colored dots, etc. It has an Asrock motherboard (an unusual board with both AGP and PCI-E) and a GeForce 7900gs (AGP).

After much reading, I have determined that this is a solved problem . Its a driver problem on Asrock boards with nvidia AGP graphics cards. The solution is to install a (very) old version of the nvidia drivers (forceware 97.52). This is described by user Brainwashed here:
Wonky Screen Corruption Problem

But I am having trouble finding and installing a win7, 64bit version of this driver. I know one exists, because in the very next reply in that thread, user Vighi says he found one for Vista64, and it worked (he has win7). But he doesn't give a link to it.

I tried to find one on my own with google. I found this one:
v97.52 VISTA 64bit | Nightly Build - LaptopVideo2Go Forums

But its on a laptop video website, and might be for a laptop video card. Its also a "modified Inf" driver, whatever that means. Anyway, I ran the setup file, but it wouldn't install. In safe mode, it said it couldn't find a driver compatible with my hardware. In normal mode, it says I have the wrong operating system, that it won't work with a 64bit OS.

Thoughts? Its really frustrating having identified the problem, and found a solution that almost everyone says worked for them, but not be able to make it work myself.

Thanks guys!

I have some old VHS tapes I want to copy to my computer. My old cap card was cheap and worked great, but the driver doesn't work w/ Win7-64bit. I tried 1 of those RCA-input to USB-output capture devices, but the audio never stays in sync w/ the video. I've tried it on multiple computers and never had any luck w/ it.

So now I'm back looking for a card. It can be very basic -- I prefer RCA inputs, but coax would be ok too. It doesn't need to be HD-capable either, and I don't need any editing software. PCI-e interface would be great, but I can use PCI too. The issue is that it has to be compatible w/ Win7 64-bit.

I'd prefer to keep the budget to $50, maybe $100 at the most. But I can't find what I'm looking for at any price. The closest I've found so far is this card at NewEgg ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815100049 ) but despite the positive rating, many reviews mention that it doesn't work well w/ SD sources... which of course is the only thing I would use it for!

If I can't find anything, I'll probably just end up doing a dual-boot w/ Win7 and WinXP so I can use my old card... but I'm sure that will be a PITA

Hi. My parents finally agreed to replace their aging Gateway. It was 8 years old, and running horribly slow, and I was tired of cleaning it up. A few years back, my brother bought my parents a backup drive that would run nightly backups without them having to do anything. It was a WD Dual-option External Hard Drive, and it runs Retrospect backup software, version 6.5. I have since found out that the auto-backup feature somehow got turned off, and no backups have been done since July. Anyway, they bought a new Dell 620, core i5 with 6GB ram...probably overkill for them right now, but they wanted something fast for a change, and I think they'll be happy with this one.

Well, the new PC came in this past weekend, and as I have been out of town, I had not yet been able to set it up for them, so I was going to try sometime this week. Well, wouldn't you know, the old Gateway crashed this morning - gave the BSOD, and my mom called me today at work to give me the news, asking when I could "fix everything". So I go over there tonight, and I can't even get the Gateway to boot in safe mode...I mean, it just did a quick blip of the setup screen, then gave an error. Nothing. I tried everything. Apparently, this issue has been mentioned here previously. See,

Asus EEE PC1000H + Card Reader Driver

Generally, I am not concerned with my SD card reader as the OP of the above thread was yet, I am concerned regarding the need for appropriate drivers. So far, the Win7 install behaves well with the lone exception of an odd display of two rows of four tabs of Chrome when I attempted to return to my browsers home page yesterday following the install. Every use of Chrome since this lone bad example has been fine. The Intel 945 (?) chipset driver was upgraded after the install was completed.

I did not activate my Win7 during install so, I have 30 days to do so. My WEI is 2.2 in view of the Atom N270 but, the response of the OS is good because, I coupled the Win7 with a Samsung 840 PRO 256 Gb SSD.

I contacted ASUS regarding use and compatibility of the XP drivers that remain available for the 1000H but, this sounds like a lost cause.

Any advise?

PowerSuite Golden contains both LiveBoot and WinSuite.

Thanks.

A:Thought's on LiveBoot 2012, WinSuite 2012 and PowerSuite Golden ?

WinSuite is totally absolutely utterly useless, Windows 7 does not need any optimizers. Generally you get more troubles with these "wonderful" toys.

LiveBoot is IMO useless because when you have your install media and a recovery disk created, that's all you need to recover your system or in worst case scenario access the HD to recover your files.

Hello there -

About a month ago, our laptop was infected with a bug that was very hard to mess with. It was called Windows Virus Remover 2009 and Antivirus Pro 2009.

It would try and sell us bogus virus protection by trotting out fake alarms and warnings. Like every 30 seconds. Very annoying. It also disabled all of our other antivirus programs, and would prevent us from downloading and installing new ones. I got SpyBot onto the laptop and ran it in Safe Mode. This fixed some of the issues. We no longer get the bogus warnings. We still, however, can't run some programs, like Malwarebytes and Root Repeal. The bug also disables our search capabilities in IE or Chrome. You search for "Spyware" and it takes you directly to an online casino out of Kazakhstan. The bug also plays random sound tracks from TV and radio from nowhere. We can't turn these off, because no media player pops up, and they're not embedded video on a web page; sounds just play from nothing.

So to sum up, we no longer have the most annoying problems associated with the malware, but there are many issues that remain and that I can't fix.

Please help!

Here is the DDS log I just ran a few minutes ago. I also have a Win32k log if needed.

Thanks!

The volunteer helping me on the "Am I infected" forum recommended I move my problem over here to this part of the site. I'm not sure if I'm at the point where I should reformat my computer, hope someone can help. Here's my original problems and the logs and help I've received so far: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/208885/ms-antivirus-2009-which-turned-into-another-one-and-now-its-that-nfrdll-error-and-malarebytes-and-superantispy-got-their-butts-kicked/I assume that you'll probably get a better explanation from my problems there, but here's the quick and dirty:Dell Laptop, currently disconnected from the Internet. (It was unable to access the bleeping computer forum anyway--just this site specifically, sites like Google, blogs, those kinds of things worked fine.)The problems started with the MS Antivirus 2009 fake spyware stuff, than the browser hijacks (I shut off proxy servers before coming to the forums), and then I got the Spyware Protect 2009 version of malware, and was only able to get Malwarebyte's to run by changing the extension to .bat after reading it here. Since I started working on these forums with DaChew, I've only followed his instructions.Currently working off my wife's computer, a Mac. Using a USB flash drive that DaChew had me immunize so that I can download the programs on this Mac and transfer them over to the infected Dell. Greetings all, In the past two months I've encountered AV & AS 2009 a number of times. I volunteer with our local computer club and more and more members are contracting this hideous software. In most cases, a "birthday suiting" of the system has been the only answer. Especially those that had been infected a while. I've been successful at removing this malware from some systems using instructions found here on bleepingcomputer.com.I have not seen this malware or any evidence of it in my surfing and use of my systems. However, I'd like to know if anyone knows how it works. What is so enticing about this software that unsuspecting users will think to click on it is the right course of action? I've asked those folks who have suffered this insideous attack, but no one seems to know how it got on their systems. Is it an ad as I've seen some forums mention? Does it pop up a window that doesn't allow you to click on an X in the corner to close it? What's the best course of action for someone who encounters this dastardly software on the byways of the net?Any and all comments are welcome . . . ;-} Pandora Boxe

Guys, can someone help me out on trying to resolve an issue I'm having on my network.

I have 3 Main PCs.

One in the Gameroom--Media Server (Windows 7 64bit, onboard Gigabit Nic). MSI AMD 780G Chipset.

One in the Office--(Windows XP MCE, INTEL Gigabit PCI)

One in the Living Room--HTPC (Windows 7 32bit, onboard Gigabit Nic) GIGABYTE AMD 780G Chipset.

I just upgraded all my systems to new hard drives in hopes of archiving all DVDs onto the server and streaming them from there to the other machines.

All connections are working fine and I can move around files between machines no problem.

My issues I can get 70-80 MB/s between the HTPC and the Server.

The most I can get out of my Office and the Server is 37-40MB/s.

The 2 OS drives in the Office and HTPC machines are Identical..Samsung F3 drives. The drives on the server I'm sending files to are Samsung F4 drives.

I just did fresh OS intalls on these drives when I placed them into service.

I used all windows drivers except for the Intel NIC in which I used the supplied drivers for it.

Can anyone tell me why my XP machine can't pull the same mustard as the other machine? It really has me puzzled.

Thanks,
Mike

I've decided to try my hand at building my own PC. I intend it to be a medium - high end gaming computer. I've got everything figured out (at least I hope) I'm just wanting a second opinion about my choice of motherboard and CPU. I'm pretty sure they are compatible, at least in theory, I was just wondering if anyone had any first hand experience with them, or any advice for me. Hey, if you feel like it, recommend something bigger and better. I have a pretty good budget for this (within reason of course, nothing too outrageous).

CPU : AMD Phenom X4 9950 Quad Core Processor 2.60GHz, 4MB Cache, 2000MHz (4000 MT/s) FSB, Agena, Retail, Socket AM2+, with Fan (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4016668&CatId=3496)

Motherboard : FX nForce 750a SLI Motherboard - NVIDIA 750a SLI, Socket AM2/AM2+, ATX, Audio, Video, HDMI, DVI, PCI Express 2.0, Gigabit LAN. S/PDIF, USB 2.0, eSATA, RAID (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3930721&CatId=13)

One big question I have, however, is whether a GeForce 8800GT graphics card with its super long design would fit correctly or at all in that motherboard. The 2nd PCI-E slot has to be the first one used, so I couldn't put it in the top slot. I think it would fit, but not quite sure.

Anyways, thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to have a read through this, and an extra thanks to anyone with any advice or comments.

A:Compatible, or not compatible, that is the question.

why can u not use the first slot? the only problem should be with the case. put the mem. in before u put the video card in.

I've researched for awhile now & can't seem to find which is the best way to add winxp functionality to my laptop. I have office xp professional, painter7 & photopaint8 software that worked fine on winxp 32 bit thru sp3.

New laptop is win7 home premium 64bit. Two 500gb hard drives.

Which is better- running the programs under win7 xp mode (ie upgrading to professional) OR installing winxp on the 2nd hard drive?

I am not a techie- but not totally pc ignorant. Any informed advice is truly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum,

Is your XP disc a retail disc?

Since you already have an XP disc, you could try out Windows Virtual PC Windows Virtual PC - Create Virtual Machine

You don't need to upgrade for that so it's free to try and you don't have to dual boot either.

There are other options too which I'm sure others can suggest.

I have a Windows 7 computer with Lotus 8.5 on it and I need to transfer Lotus 8.5 and all it's files and emails and the encryption key to the Windows 8 computer. I do not think that Windows 8 will recognize Lotus 8.5 so I had the idea to partition the Windows 8 computer and install Windows 7 on one of the partitions thus making it a dual boot computer, then install Lotus 8.5 to the Windows 7 partition. My problem is Windows 8 is already installed on the computer and Windows website warns not to install the older operating system second.
Windows website warns, "You must install the older operating system first, and then install the more recent operating system. If you don't (for example, if you install Windows Vista on a computer already running Windows 7), you can render your system inoperable. This can happen because earlier versions of Windows don't recognize the startup files used in more recent versions of Windows and can overwrite them." What should I do? I have found some information on installing Windows 7 as a second operating system on a Windows 8 computer thus creating a Dual Boot computer and giving you the best of both worlds and full app compatibility as some of your Windows 7 applications may not be supported in a Windows 8 environment. Thank you.

Hi everyone.
Ok after growing tired of seeing my 2012 laptop run faster on windows 7 than my 2015 lenovo, i decided to install windows 7 on it as well.
After solving enough problems (burned a dvd since the usb port was not recognized by the windows installer once it started running, changed some stuff in the bios from Win8-ideal to Win7-ideal to get the installer to load in the first place, tried 3 different versions of win7 because one never went above 0% progress).
When i was finally able to install windows in a partition (im keeping half of my drive available for installing Ubuntu in the future), I got it to load and the computer reboots. Haven't tried safemode yet (this was yesterday at midnight).
Has anybody come across this problem? What can i do? I'll provide whatever specific details im asked. Thanks in advance!
