Envy Monitor w Faulty HDCP or what? Won't show 1080P signal ...

Q: Envy Monitor w Faulty HDCP or what? Won't show 1080P signal ...

Purchased this 27in Monitor in part because it claims HDCP compatibility. Works fine w my computer at 1080P and other resolutions with no HDCP involved. Does not work with my cable set top box(STB) at anything above 720P. Multiple STB tried, multiple cables, etc that all work fine with my full HD TV. (Motorola VIP2202 is STB full digital w IP between boxes from fiber modem to router-- allows you to set max resolution of your "TV" or monitor in my case. Has full HD capability and delivers many HD signals from HD only TV Channels). So I am trying to decide: Do I not understand what HDCP should mean? Shouldn't my STB play w the monitor at 1080P just like my HDTV?Is the Monitor faulty (bad HDCP) & should I exchange for a working one during my retailer's 30 day return window?Should I buy a different brand -- anyone had success w STB to monitor at full HD with another make?I am replacing a monitor (dead) that gave me 720P from the STB via a HDMI to VGA adapter. I expected to move up with a "modern" higher end monitor -- instead, I ended up the same place.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Title says it all. The tiny works perfectly fine while connected to a standard monitor however when moved to a TV, no display comes out of the TV. Not sure why, I've tried different cables, different ports, and other devices on the TV that work, it just seems as if the M900 Tiny's do not. Any information would be greatly appreciated; Thanks in advance

Hello. I just bough a screen for my computer.
I am using Windows 7 Professional 64bit.
Radeon HD5850 1GB graphic card.
Using HDMI cable

And I was hoping to get a great screen in 1920x1080 resolution by buying this screen. After reading like 10 reviews on google search it was a great match to my demands.

Then I got the screen, and tested it. However when I selected to run in 1920x1080, the quality was horrible!
I try to do print screen, but only the analog display is horrible, not the results on the computer.

However if I tune this down to 1600x1200 resolution, it looks great. But I want to have the full 1920x1080 effect not the 1600x1200 effect.

I checked the drivers, and it says my latest driver is "2009/10/29_001003". Witch looks like a recent date.

I have tried to google any specific drivers for this screen for vista/Win7 that got a newer date than my drivers. Without any luck.

I try to google other people who have same problem as me, however, I only get to 1000x different reviews of this monitor, fake driver download/repair sites and such things.

I got very mixed up feelings about this. I do not know if I shall try to deliver back the screen, or that 1920x1080p isn't for computers? Or maybe HDMI cant run 1920x1080p? Is it a malefactor fault? Shall i just stick to the screen and appreciate that it works good in 1600x1200, I mean it isn't that much lower. But I keep dreaming that the screen is originally made for 1080p and that the screen quality wil... Read more

I was thinking I'd connect a PlayStation3 to my monitor with a HDMI cable, but then I learned about the HDCP stuff, and my monitor is non-hdcp. The only thing I could find that might make that work is the HDFury, but that costs $249 (+399 for ps3 + 50 for game = $698 to play Metal Gear Solid 4).

So component vs composite, which can give me the highest resolution/best experience on a Optiquest Q241wb?

is a 17" Dell TFT LCD DVI/VGA LCD Monitor w/USB Ports compatible with HDCP? this monitor is using dvi-d or vga inputs.

A:Is this monitor HDCP compliant?

I seriously doubt that monitor is HDCP compliant. I would imagine it's pretty old and HDCP probably wasn't a feature being offered when that was made. Also, any monitor you hook up via DB-15 (vga) inputs won't support HDCP.

Two times in the last week my monitor (a KDS visual sensations CRT) has come on with the image looking like an hourglass (wide at the top and bottom, pinched in the center). This happened imediately upon boot up and both times rebooting has returned the monitor to normal, leaving the computer running does not bring the problem back. Which is more likely, that my monitor is beginning to fail or maybe my graphics card (a saphire, ATI radeon 7000) is failing? Is there some way (other than swaping my monitor out and trying another as this seems so far to be an intermitent problem and may not arise when a new monitor is conected) to check and see which it may be?

I'm hoping someone here has some experience with monitors, HDCP and EDID.

A month back my monitor suddenly wouldn't turn on after 19,000 hours of service. Fair enough.

So, I bought a repair kit and fixed 12 capacitators - a common problem with every PSU I have come by.

That worked, and the monitor is running again - a bit yellow tint though due to the many hours.

Thats not the problem.

The problem is that I had to rewrite the EDID after the power down. Somehow it went corrupt and I rewrote it succesfully with the data from the registry.

However, now the monitor displays as "not HDCP compliant" in the NVidia settings (and I know for a fact that the monitor is HDCP compliant and showed up as such before the breakdown). The Cyberlink BD Advisor tool also reports that the monitor is not compliant.

So my questions are:Has the rewriting of the EDID (in service mode) messed up HDCP?
If EDID is connected to the problem - how do I correct the EDID?
How can a power down otherwise mess up HDCP (hardware failure)?
Is there a way to fix the issue at all?
Can someone post a link to a movie that is protected in order to check that way?
The monitor is connected to my GFX on HDMI (mini) and I already tried the DVI's and turning the monitor on/off etc. The monitor is a HP w2207h and recognized by Windows as such - original drivers installed (version

Hi guys this is my first post as im at a loss of what to do .
Recently my old monitor stopped working, it was using a VGA cable, but the cable is not the problem, my PC is. I bought a new monitor which requires HDMI, however the port on my PC will not respond to the cord, meaning I have no monitor :/ or anyway to troubleshoot. The only thing I can think of would be to buy a USB to HDMI adapter? But even then I would need a monitor to install the device surely. I would usually take it to the shop, but with lockdown I am lost and without a PC for the forseeable future, help would be appretiated!

Hi Warro, and welcome to TSG.

I don't think anyone here can give you much help without knowing:

1: Name of the manufacturer and exact model number of your computer and/or the motherboard.

2: Name of the manufacturer and exact model number of any video controller expansion card (the card itself, not the manufacturer and model number of the graphics IC) plugged into the motherboard.

3: The operating system running the PC.

I have a Viewsonic 28" LCD monitor (model vx2835wm) which is pretty good, but not the greatest quality to say the least. It is 1080p supported too.

However, I need something of better quality. My question is the monitor *must* have 1900x1080 resolution specifically to be 1080p supported correct, even if it offers higher resolution options?

Dell 27" UltraSharp Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor

Higher resolutions, 1920x1200 too, but not 1920x1080 specifically. Would this be a bad idea for Blu-Ray movies (my Sony laptop has a built in Blu Ray player)?

A:LCD 1080p Monitor?

Not a problem, as long as it has 1080p support over the *relevant* inputs (eg, some 24" monitors support 1080p on VGA and DVI, but not on component input etc), so you will have to check the specs of the monitor you intend to buy.

If it has 1:1 pixel mapping, or scaling on those inputs, you should even be able to view the movie at the correct aspect ratio. PC widescreen LCD monitors have 16:10 aspect ratio while HDTVs are 16:9. So, your 1920x1080 video will be seen with small black bars along the top and bottom of a 1920x1200 LCD, but with the correct ratio of height and width. Ofcourse, you will still be able to 'fill the monitor screen' if you choose, but with the penalty of slight distortion of the image.

1:1 Scaling can be achieved either via your PC graphics card (if Nvidia) or through the configuration settings on your monitor. Note that not all monitors offer 1:1 mapping, and IIRC, some ATI video cards lack this feature too.

Well, around winter of 2008 my computer broke down. I have recently gotten sick and tired of using a 2002 windows COMPAQ, has too little ram for anything remotely modern.
So I am back to it, my Father looked at it and he thinks the motherboard is fried.

No one in my family has any PHYSICAL computer problem experience (though I have virtual experience)
It started to make a loud hoarse noise at startup. The monitor sayed "No Input Signal" and said "Monitor going to sleep"

We cleaned out the inside as it was ridiculously dusty, and now the hoarse noises have stopped. But the monitor is still messed up.

What I can provide
-Another computer to test things
-Pictures of the inside of my computer
-Specifications (To an extent)

another thing I want you to know
I am not prepared to buy most things, I have another computer with parts I can swap if it comes down to it but if we cant fix it we are going to buy a brand new computer.

If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. I have little physical computer experience, as in none. So.. I dont know where anything or what anything is.

Hello, I am looking for an HP 21.5 inch 1080p IPS monitor with height adjustment to use in a dual monitor setup with my Dell p2214h. I basically want a monitor with the same specs as the Dell p2214h but an HP. I was looking at the HP EliteDisplay E222 because it seemed to have the same specs, the only difference I could see was that it had HDMI instead of DVI, which is better for me anyway. If anyone has a suggestion for an HP monitor that matches the dell p2214h, please let me know. I could just buy another dell, but I have always liked HP laptops and I thought I might give their monitors a try. I have ran into a problem where a connected usb device caused malfunction and my HP Envy dropped dead. Bascially i connected a phone via a faulty usb cable, put it to sleep and turned on the usb power supply to charge the phone while the computer was inactive. As some of you may know, I've just built a new system (you may know as I've already had a couple of issues I've had help with on here :P). To save some money, I'm initially using a TV as a monitor connected with an HDMI lead. The TV is a 19" fully-HD TV which is capable of displaying up to 1080P. I've updated my system specs on here, I'm using an NVidia Geforce GTX660ti GPU.

The issue is that if I set my resolution to 1920x1080, it's very 'zoomed out', as in.. the task bar is very thin and everything on the screen appears a lot smaller - sorry it's not a very good description. The display is also not fitting to the corners of the monitor, there's a black border which displays things when I'm watching TV. To make things appear normal (or at least as normal as possible), I'm being forced into using 1176x664 resolution, which is obviously not ideal by any means.

As ever, any advice/guidance is much appreciated.

EDIT: It's also probably relevant to note I have upgraded my drivers from the Nvidia website.

A:Using 1080P-Capable TV As Monitor; Resolution 'Zoomed Out'.

Its probably suppose to be that small least on a 1080 screen that is under 20 inches. I know on my 17 inch laptop 1920x1200 is pretty small. You can try playing with the settings in the Nvidia control panel under Display > Adjust desktop size and position.

The monitor in question here is a Viewsonic VE 700 (17" 5:4 LCD), its probably about 4 years old and definitely outside of its warranty period.

Now the monitor turns on fine and displays the video signal fine for approximately 2 seconds then goes black. I can turn the monitor off and back on again and it will display the image for 2 seconds and then black again, It will not display the signal continuously. Now when I say it goes black, the picture is still there, but its just extremely dark, as if the brightness has been turned right down and its extremely hard to see (you'd think there was no video signal unless you got right up to it)

I have tried using the auto image adjust feature to no success, and tried using the on screen menu/settings (right up close squinting to see the menu) and the contrast and brightness are turned up to the maximum and yet it still shows black.

I know for certain that it is not an issue with the computer or graphics card as I have tried the monitor on two different computers. Tried two different VGA cables connected to the monitor

The monitor is still receiving power as the power light is continuously green, its still receiving a video signal as it does not display the 'No Video Signal' message.

The monitor is definitely faulty.

Anyone know how to fix such an issue, how much it would cost (approximately it would fix to get fixed), if its worth getting repaired or just get a new monitor?

Sorry for the long text, I'm trying to send as much information i have.

Hello forums!
A few years ago i built a new gaming pc because i wanted to be able to play high quality games. But since day 1 i've had nothing but problems. Whenever i play one of my high quality games such as "Assassins Creed, Tomb Raider, Battlefield 3 or Primal Carnage" the monitor goes completely blank showing a "no signal to monitor" sign after gaming for between 5 minutes to up to 2-3 hours. The monitor sometimes also shows different color stripes either for examples: orange, pink or grey. The sound of my friends on skype usually keeps going for about 20 seconds before going silent, the sound of the game shuts off instantly or goes in a loop or starts with a loud buzzing sound. The fans and the LED's on my pc are still going but i can't control anything on the pc making me have to force restart my pc on the power button.
I've been on this forum before talking to this guy who is helping me but he's been quite busy lately so i need some extra help.

I have a Hyundai N91W Monitor that has stopped functioning correctly. The image displays for 5-10 seconds and then disappears. The monitors power light remains on but the image is no longer there.

I have a 3 year warranty so I've been trying to get in touch with Hyundai so I can return it and get it repaired. Here's where the problem gets fun. None of the telephone numbers or email addresses they supply work.

Customer Service Line: +44-20-8399-4045 - Always an answering machine
Customer Service E-mail: [email protected] - Doesn't exist

Repair Service They Refer Too: 0044-(0)-1794-500-800 - Always unable to get through
Repair Service E-mail: [email protected] - Doesn't exist

Seriously, this is an absolute joke. Does anyone know of any other way I can get this sorted? Or as a last resort, somewhere in Newcastle-upon-Tyne that repair LCD monitors.

Thanks for any help. Lee.

Due to Nuance Dragon Medical Edition software not being compatible with Windows 10, I had to downgrade to windows 8.1.  I have a few issues...The touch screen is not working and in device manager I have 4 devices with driver issues...2 PCI Data acquition and Signal Processing Controller and 2 unknown devies.  I have applied all the windows 10 drivers from HP for this laptop and even downloaded the Intel Driver Update Utility but nothing has helped.  Not sure where to go from here.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

A:Envy PCI Data acquisition and Signal Processing Controller

Hi: See if this driver works for the PCI Data acquisition and Signal Processing Controller: This package contains the driver that enables the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework firmware. Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework provide system temperature and power utilization information for the system thermal protection to function properly. This package is provided for supported notebook models running a supported operating system. File name: sp71358.exe Please post the hardware ID's for the unknown devices. To find the hardware ID, click on the unknown device in the device manager. Then click on the details tab at the top of the unknown device window. Now you will see a Property drop down list and it will be set to device description. Drop down on that list and select the 2nd item (hardware ID's). Post the top string of characters that you see in the window.

My monitor (ViewSonic VA720) is set to turn off after 20 min in the WinXP Power Options Properties. The monitor goes into standby correctly, but will will oftentime not come back on after resuming. It will just show a black screen and the lights on the monitor indicate it's in standby. Pressing the power button on the monitor seems to have to effect. When turning it back on it will say signal out of range, and then go back into standby. My system is:

AthlonXP 2200+
MSI 6600GT 128MB AGP (Driver 163.75)
Windows XP SP2

The only way to fix this is to reboot the machine, which is not always convenient. Any suggestions? Thanks.
