Dell Inspiron 5567 internal Mic doesnt work, please help

Q: Dell Inspiron 5567 internal Mic doesnt work, please help

Hello. Today my microphone stopped working, it was fine yesterday. I dont know what happened, its enabled and the driver is up to date. I really dont know whats wrong with it, also its light is off( I assume the mic is right below the touchpad). I would reallylike a solution to it, since it hasnt been hit or touched any liquid or anything. Im really confused, because i also have 1 audio jack and i need 1 for my headset aswell so im unable to plug in an external mic. TLDR: Inbuilt Mic isnt working, even its light is off.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi,
I've just purchased a Dell Inspiron laptop 15 - 5567 laptop (Scratch and Dent) from the Dell Outlet and it has already crashed upon first use. I had switched it on and managed to set up a username and password and proceeded to customize my PC (Microsoft settings) when it suddenly showed a 'System Error' message (20% complete) and that the PC needed to restart.
I waited for the PC to restart automatically but I don't think anything happened so I think I tried to restart it myself. But when I switched my PC back on again, it just 'hangs' on a PURPLE screen that says, "Just a moment..." I have waited for over 45 minutes and nothing happens!
I've tried switching it on and off again several times but I get the same purple screen with the same wait a moment message each time I try to restart it again. A couple of times upon switching the PC back on again the Dell logo would show before showing the purple screen again. But most of the time when I press the restart button it would go straight to the purple screen.
Does this mean that there is something seriously wrong with it? Does this sound like a serious or minor fault? I really wasn't expecting this upon first use.
Can anybody out there help????
Thanks!

It may or may not work - it's not a supported configuration.  Since you'll have to replace one 8G module with a 16 to try, and since no one will guarantee compatibility, make sure you understand your seller's restocking fee policy before you try this.

I have just been setting up a new Dell 15 5567 running Windows 10.  I am aiming also to add a Linux OS in a dual-boot setup.  On checking the 1TB hard drive, I see that there are already FIVE primary partitions.  In the order they are listed in Disk Manager, they are:
Disk 0 partition 1     500MB     EFI System partition      (which obviously has the Windows Bootloader)
Disk 0 partition 4     461MB     Recovery partition      100% free
Disk 0 partition 5     12.03GB  Recovery partition      100% free
Disk 0 partition 6       1.12GB  Recovery partition       100% free
OS (C:)      NTFS   917.30GB  Boot, page file etc (system)   96% free

I have a basic, simple understanding of partitioning.  But I do not understand why there are three separate recovery partitions, all apparently empty, and all labelled as primary partitions.
Why are there three?
What are they intended to contain?
Can any of them be deleted, shrunk or otherwise simplified/reorganised in order to free up space in which to install a second OS?
Any helpful advice and explanation would be appreciated...

A:Dell Inspiron 15 5567 - partitions

The partitions are not empty.  A GPT drive can hold around 256 partitions, so don't worry about the number.  There is even one you can't see.  They are there to allow for a full recovery if something were to corrupt your current install.  Even a Microsoft Update, which is coming on Oct. 17th, can cause such problems.
Before you start messing with Linux, it would be a really good idea to create a System Image backup or at least a Win 10 Recovery drive.  This type of backup can restore your system even if the drive completely fails.
Do the research about your Linux install.  If you do it incorrectly, you may loose your Win 10 boot.  Or if it does work and you decide to remove Linux, you may have problems.

No -- this system is not equipped with a pressure-sensitive digitizer. It's a touchscreen model.
If you want a digitizing 15" system, there aren't many out there - Lenovo has a couple of 15" systems that are true tablets.  Figure on well north of $1,000- probably nearer or over $1,500 -- for a 15" system with true tablet functionality. It's not what you'll find on a budget Insprion 5567.

I just ordered a Dell Inspiron 5567 laptop.
Is the following keyboard layout proper for the Dell Inspiron 5000 series? I find it odd as I haven't seen this layout on any of the online images of the product. (The placement of hash key beside the Enter key and Backslash beside the Left Shift key.)
Image of Keyboard
AND there is a wrong mapping on the keyboard. The HASH key next to the ENTER key is mapped to a backslash, with a BACKSLASH key already present beside the LEFT SHIFT key. So I cannot print a hashtag symbol.
Also, the keys (@) and (") are interchanged.Pressing one key prints the other character.
Can someone please suggest a solution?

CinTerBlock,Some keys on your keyboard have two symbols on them. These keys can be used to type alternate characters or to perform secondary functions. To type the alternate character, press Shift and the desired key. To perform secondary functions, press Fn and the desired key. Hi,
The charger port in my Inspiron has become broken over time, due to the charger that was sent with my laptop not working properly, (Where when the charger is plugged in, it comes up with a message saying that it's plugged in, but not charging. During that time as well, the plastic bits inside of the charger port has come out, leaving only the two tiny metal bits that the plastic covered. It still charged my laptop when i got the charger to work. Since a few weeks ago, when the charger completely broke, I left it alone and used a spare laptop. A new charger finally came for my laptop and it does not accept any charger whatsoever. Not even showing the LED that it is charging. My laptop still has warranty, but I don't know whether this would be covered. Can anyone help?

A:Dell Inspiron 15 5567 charger port broken

It'll be deemed abuse/accidental damage - the warranty will not cover the repair.
If you can replace the part yourself, it's this one:
www.parts-people.com/index.php
If you can't, a local computer repair shop can replace it - costing about an hour's labor charge.
You're better off with a reputable local shop that charges by time -- not one of the big chains (Staples, Best Buy, or even Dell) that charge a flat rate for the repair.  Flat-rate will almost certainly cost more.

Hello...
This issue has been already escalated throughout the web in the past few months, but no solution is found, and there is no word from DELL on fixing or even trying to fix this.
The issue is (and judging by reports it affects mostly DELL laptops with Intel chipsets), that all of a sudden, few months back, my laptop (Inspiron 5567 with Linux Fedora 25) started reporting MCE hardware errors on boot. Everyone's first guess would be that maybe there are a hardware errors indeed, something wrong with some components, but this is not the case. These are fake MCE errors that started affecting a lot of people all of a sudden in the same timeframe. Laptop boots and works perfectly fine after that, but simply it makes your eyes bleed seeing these errors every day, turning your laptop on in front of your coleagues, friends, etc...
This is the report that pops up on boot:

Hey!I ordered Dell Inspiron 5567 laptop from my local retailer and it did not have backlit keyboard. I have seen the same model with backlit keyboard in Dell's official page. So I was wondering that if I order new backlit keyboard from ebay is it possible to replace it. The main question is does every model of inspiron 5567 has a backlit keyboard connector. If it is possible, is there a manual how to do it?
Thanks in advance!

A:Replacing Dell Inspiron 5567 non-backlit keyboard with backlitted on

The connector will be there.  That said, this model is one of the growing number where replacing just the keyboard is far from a trivial exercise -- the keyboard, touchpad and palmrest are essentially a single, partially glued together assembly designed to be replaced as a single unit.
www.parts-people.com/index.php
The service manual details the replacement process for the palmrest assembly -- but not just the keyboard, which isn't designed to be replaced separately.

1) Even if no other problems, the solid touchpad is an insurmountable problem.
It's a horrible idea (rather than having the left click and right click 2 separated pieces.
I'm CONSTANTLY getting the right click menu when I left click.

2) The other insurmountable problem is that pages - not just web pages, but text files also - will on their own rapidly scroll to the top or bottom of the page.
I spend a decent amount of time, when I am not undoing the unwated right clicks from the touchpad, re-scrolling to find my place.
Unbearable problem.
Thought perhaps a Firefox issue, but then when text files started doing it, I have to blame it on Dell. (Or Windows 10?).

3) Previous touchpads let me scroll using 1 finger, not requiring 2.
Also I was able to make a circular motion with 1 finger to scroll.
Not possible on this touchpad.

4) TV has only recognized the HDMI cable twice.
No response to my asking how to remedy this in this forum.

5) Several times I've gotten the message "Power surge on the USB portDevice.  Port needs more power than can be supplied."
This has occurred on all of the 3 ports.
One device which caused it is an external hard drive which I've used with other computers without having an issue.

Hello, I am new here and came across this forum while googling for tips on getting my Dell Inspiron 6000 fixed. This forum seems very helpful from what i've read and so I thought I should post my problem to see if anyone can suggest a solution to me.

I recently was watching a video file on my laptop when the computer just shut down. When I try to reboot now, I get an error message saying "Internal HDD Hard error! Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility". When I hit F1 with my windows install disk in the CD-rom drive, I get an error saying that there is no Hard Disk Drive recognized and to make sure that the Hard Drive is powered on, etc.

I thought that maybe my hard drive had died on me so I purchased a new hard drive and it is the same exact problem still occuring. Any tips or links on what I might need to do would be very helpful...Thanks for your time!

When I listen to my internal mic on my laptop I cannot hear anything but scratching or tapping on the laptop next to the mic. Is this a driver problem or do most of these models have this issue? Also there is no mic input on this type of Inspiron I was wondering if there is a way of using cellphone headphones as a mic and headphones at the same time? Or do I have to get a usb microphone?

A:Dell Inspiron 3537 internal mic not working

Priest96When I listen to my internal mic on my laptop I cannot hear anything
By default, you can't hear the mic. This is to prevent feedback. In order to hear the mic, open the Sound dialog, the Recording tab, select Microphone, then Properties. In the Properties box, select the Listen tab, then check the box to listen to the mic, and where you want to send the signal.

If you still cannot hear it, or if it doesn't seem to be working at all, make sure it is selected as the default device. If still no luck, it might be defective or disconnected. Sometimes functioning can be recovered by removing the bezel and reseating the camera connection, and make sure that the mic is lined up with the hole, and with no obstruction there. There is a service manual available with instructions and diagrams if you want to attempt that.
Priest96Is this a driver problem or do most of these models have this issue?
We get posts about mics not working, but I'm not aware of it being a particular problem with this model. It's probably not the driver but it is a possibility. You could download and install a fresh copy of the driver, for your operating system, from your support page. You could install a different version of the driver. Or you could test the driver by switching to the Windows native audio driver.

I have seen many different threads about this same issue, but have not seen anything that has worked for me. I have a Dell inspiron 1525 and recently upgraded to windows 7. Since then all is good except for the fact that the internal microphone doesn't work at all. I have tried to install the sigmatel driver, but it says it doesn't support my operating system, even when I try and install it with compatibility mode. I would love any help on the subject as I am getting very frustrated with it. Thanks.

A:Dell Inspiron 1525 internal microphone

Without the Sigmatel driver you are having to use the native Windows HD audio driver which is a basic generic  that does not support all functions of the audio hardware. As you said the normal solution is to install the Sigmatel Vista audio driver R218148 in Vista compatibility mode. To do that you would download the Vista driver package and unzip it  but cancel the installation process. Go to its folder at c:\Dell\Drivers\R218148. Find the setup.exe file and right click on it. Select the Properties. Find the compatibility tab and select Vista.

If that is what you did and got the error message I suspect it is because it is a 32 bit driver and your version of 7 is 64 bit. There is another driver you can try. When Sigmatel went out of business it was absorbed by IDT and the early IDT drivers seem to be based on the Sigmatel ones. The IDT R226903 audio driver for 7 reportedly works on the 1525 so it is worth a try. You might be able to install it directly, but the instructions I was given were as follows:
With the Windows native driver installed, download and unzip the IDT but cancel the installation. Go into Device Manager to the audio controller (under "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers"). Right click on it and chose to update the driver. Choose to manually find the driver and don't let Windows look for it. Browse to c:\Dell\drivers\R226903 then click "Next". When you restart the laptop Windows will detect your audio hardware and install... Read more

My Dell Inspiron 2350 All-in-One  was damaged by a power surge during a storm. I took it to Best Buy since this is where it was purchased.  They wanted way to much to fix it so I was going to replace it myself. The tech said that the internal power supply inside the PC needed to be replaced. After I opened the PC I could not locate an internal power supply. I have looked at the manual and can not find the internal power supply. Where is the power source or internal power supply that they said needed to be replaced that was damaged during the surge?

So I'm getting 4 beeps from my N5010.
I remove both RAM sticks & I get 2 beeps (no RAM detected) so I think my motherboard is good.
I've done every combination of RAM sticks in the slots to try to isolate a bad one, & I'm still getting 4 beeps no matter what.
What next?

A:RE: dell inspiron N5010 doesnt start only beeps 4 sounds

Hi F1098,
4 beeps are bad memory and 2 beeps are no memory as you are already aware.
Now, have you tried each memory module in each slot and it fails with 4 beeps on every case? If yes, then I would suspect the motherboard to be faulty. The chances of 2 memory modules going faulty at the same time is very rare. You could however, test this memory module on another machine to confirm if it is functional or not.

In the morning the pc was working just fine, i turned it off and then back on to change to a another operating system. Instead of taking me to the boot options it took me to a black screen saying;
intenal hard disk drive not found
to resolve this issue, try to reseat the drive.
No bootable devices--strike F1 to retry to boot, F2 enter Setup Menu, F5 enter PSA
I didnt did anything to the pc, it was just sitting in the table and so I doubt it may be related to the hardware as several forums say.
When I enter the BIOS it says on Fixed HDD; ST500LM012 HN-M500MBB                                              (500 Gb)
Here the details of the computer
Dell Inspiron 15N 3520
Windows 8 (with 8.1 Preview and Ubuntu)
uses UEFI
Core I5 2.5 GHz
4GB DDR3 Ram
500 GB of HDD (i think it has a 32GB SSD cache)

Please help, i have tried reading all over the internet and trying everything  that does not require opening the device (the device is new and is not easy as I would like it to be).
Can anyone tell me what to do or if it can be saved without any hardware change? It only has about 2 months and  i have important information inside (yeah no back up...)

A:Dell Inspiron 3520 Internal Disk not Found

Hi joseph97svl,
Thank you for the update.
Since the HDD is detected in the BIOS and also the test passed, the hardware is functioning as designed. I suspect it is a software issue and you may consider restoring the system using the recovery discs.  Follow the instruction given in the following link to restore the system using the recovery media:

In case the recovery discs are not created, send me a private message with the system service tag to assist you further.  Please click on my name and click Start Conversation to send me a private message.

Hi,

Is there any way to manually switch to the internal speakers in a Dell Inspiron E1705?

My headphones jack got banged in, and my headphones won't pick up sound very well, if at all. So the computer won't switch back to internal speakers even if I remove my headphones; I think my computer believes there's always headphones in the jack.

Help!

I will offer whatever I can in return for some sage advice.

I just want to listen to music...

So the other night I heard some crackling noises coming from my laptop and then the sound just stopped working altogether. I pretty frequently plug and unplug a set of external speakers in the headphone jack so I figured this might be the issue. Sure enough, when I apply pressure with my finger over the headphone jack opening the internal speakers work fine. When I release the pressure the internal speakers stop working. I kind of smacked the laptop on the side a bit and it seems to be ok for now but I'm guessing the only way to fix this permanently if the issue returns is to open the laptop and secure anything that might be loose near the headphone jack. I have never opened up my laptop before, if I do have to do this are there some precautions I should be taking to ensure I don't completely mess it up?

Hi all.....this is my first post. I bought a cheap ac power supply for my Dell inspiron 6000 when the original died. Yesterday, it failed. Upon inspection, I realized the power supply was shorted out. I replaced it and nothing happened...no light no sign of any power to the computer. I think I may have shorted out the computer and was hoping there is some sort of internal fuse that could be switched out. thanks for any help!

A:Wondering if there is an internal fuse in my Dell Inspiron 6000

most likely when the psu died it took the motherboard or cpu or ram or the battery with it. the only way to tell what parts are still good is to test each part is a working computer
