Yoga 720-12IKB (81B5) Track pad stops working after sleep. . .

Q: Yoga 720-12IKB (81B5) Track pad stops working after sleep. . .

I just purchased this laptop Monday, and this has been an issue from day one. I start the laptop and everything works fine, I close the lid and it goes into sleep mode. When I open the computer and resume from sleep mode the track pad does not work. the only way to get the track pad to work again is to restart the laptop. This happens every single time without fail which makes it a real PITA to use. . . I have updated the synaptics driver and generic mouse driver with no change in behavior. I have completely uninstalled all relevant drivers and let windows re-install them with no change in behavior. I have 10 days left to return this thing, so hopefully I can get this fixed before that because this form factor is great, but I won?t keep something that it obviously broken. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Yoga 720-12-IKB 81B5, setting up as remote machine for elderly parents with dementia, needs boot-on-timer and wake-on-AC-power options in BIOS because elderly parents can't be counted on to keep it running. BIOS is 5GCN20WW, no auto-boot options are visible. Machine is otherwise perfect for the task, but auto-boot capability is a must-have for the intended usage.

Long list of items that have crept up on this laptop after using it for several months. . . . The touchscreen no longer works.   I have reinstalled drivers over and over again, deleted and let windows choose the driver, and have tried everything I can think of to get it working. The touchpad on brand new Lenova Yoga 720 does not function properly. After install, mouse pointer does not show and the touchpad does not work. The only way to get around on the computer is the touchscreen. Keyboard still works. A hard reset solves the problem temporarily. To get the mouse to show and the touchpad to work, I will have to hard reset the laptop everytime before desired use. If the computer goes to sleep, the touchpad dissapears. I do not think that the touchpad shows up anywhere in my devices. I am not sure because I do not know what the file may be called. Otherwise, I would uninstall the driver and re install. Support said to download driver off website, there isn't a touchpad driver available for download. I'd like to keep this laptop  and correct this issue. But it is a new computer so if there isn't a solution soon, I will return it instead of wasting time adding to it. Seems that many have had similar issues. Anyone any closer to an answer? Hello? This has been a problem that I've been having since the original trackpad driver Lenovo put out when Windows 10 was officially released.  I've seen other people mention they have the same problem, but there's still no solution.  Problem: After the Yoga S1 goes to sleep or hibernates, the trackpad doesn't work.  The cursor doesn't show up on the screen until I move the TrackPoint or if I have an external mouse connected.  The only thing thing functional is the trackpoint and physically pushing the trackpad for right and left click.  Gestures, tap to click, etc. do not work.  The problem has been consistent with every driver version up to and including the latest 19.0.17.2 that Lenovo put out on 9/7.   The only way to get the trackpad working again is to uninstall the synaptics driver, reboot, reinstall driver, reboot again.  Probem returns after waking up the computer after going to sleep or hibernate.   I'm forced to use driver version 19.0.19.1 directly from synaptics.  The trackpad works perfectly, but the right and middle buttons (at the top of the trackpad) for the trackpoint do not work since it's just a generic driver.   Lenovo has put out at least two new drivers since this problem has popped up  and others have complained about it on this forum and still hasn't been fixed.

Same problem  even with latest driver as of March 2018.  Bios updated to latest version.  Windows 10. had the MB changed twice.  Lenovo will be replacing trackpoing/track pad.  So frustrating.

Hello, I've been reading up on the forums and trying to find answers. I have a Lenovo Yoga 720-12IKB model. I am trying to dual boot with Linux but I keep running into this issue where I can't change to Legacy mode. The option to change the sata controller does not appear. It is stuck on Ahci which is what I want, and when I want to change from UEFI to Legacy, the only option I have is UEFI. Does anyone have any help? thanks!,

A:Yoga 720-12IKB enabling legacy mode?

Hi,

I don't have a similar laptop and can't answer your questinon - but why do you need legacy mode?

If your SATA controller is in AHCI mode (and Windows is tolerating that) you should be able to install Linux along side. Several distros will happily boot in UEFI (and secure) mode.

Please explain.  Perhaps others will have suggestions.

A:Lenovo yoga 720-12ikb battery decline when charger is plugged in?

Define "decline." What percentage to what percentage. If it's 100-95, that's by design. If it's around 60, you may have battery conservation mode engaged. At least I THINK that's available on the 720.  If you're down to 20% and it's not charging, then there's a problem.

I have a new since Christmas Yoga 720-12IKB and find that the wifi is disconnecting/reconnecting numerous times per minute. It causes significant distruption trying to use the computer, with frequent errors about not being connected to the internet. Generally causes the device to operate very slow, nearly unusable. I'm not having disruption on any other computers/tablets/phones connected. I've tried a fair amount of troubleshooting but have yet to find a solution. The one workaround that I've found is that when I connect to power, the problem goes away. Remove power, issue returns. Suggests a problem with the power management (or possibly network adapter driver) but I can't figure it out. The network adapter is Qualcomm QCA61x4a. Here's what I've attempted: 1) Disable the power management feature of the adapter (uncheck allow computer to turn off)2) Run Lenovo System Update to make sure all drivers are up-to-date3) Manually updated the driver via device manager (went from .312 to .438)4) Switch roaming agressiveness to low Other than making it a desktop (needing to leave it plugged in to avoid the issue) any suggestions/resolution to this problem? Anyone else seeing the same behavior? Frustrating problem to an otherwise fantastic, fun, and fast Yoga!!! Looking for a light at the end of the tunnel....

I just recently purchased a Yoga 14 primarily for the active digitizer screen so I could do design work on the go. My laptop has the pen that comes with it, and when I take it out of the slot, it works fine. However, when I use it for roughly 3 or 4 minutes, it just stops reading on the screen. I can reinsert it into the slot, take it out, and it will work for another 3 or 4 minutes before I have to do it again. It never displays a low pen battery indicator, and every time I check the battery using the application, it says its good at 90 to 100 percent. I have updated drivers as well, but still can't fix the issue. The touchscreen otherwise works perfectly when it is active, and always responds to touch. Seeing as I purchased it for the ability to draw with the pen, it's kind of inconvenient that it works for very little time.

Hello all,

I have a recurring issue that drives me nuts to no end: Everytime I put my computer to sleep (I'm 99.5% sure this is the cause), Aero preview crashes, and prevents me from switching to an application with more than one window open (that is, using the taskbar). I have to kill and relaunch explorer to bring it back, but as I shut my laptop lid often, this is hardly ideal.

Does anyone know how I could go about fixing this? I've run the built-in trouble shooter, to no avail.

Any ideas or tips are welcome.

All right, I found a weird bug regarding Freesync VS sleep mode... So to enable freesync you need to put the display into Gaming mode. When you to that, you see an actual prompt that says "AMD Freesync: ON" at the top. Then you enable it in the driver and you should be good to go.However, when you set Gaming mode the brightness and contrast go to 75% each which is WAY too bright for my taste, so I lower it down to 25% and 50%. When I do that, the display changes from Gaming to a "personalized settings". Freesync still works perfectly fine, that is UNTIL the monitor goes to sleep... when it wakes up (no matter after how long), all my settings are preserved but freesync is DISABLED!!!!In order to reenable it, I need repeat all my steps (OSD - gaming mode, lower brightness and contrast) EVERY TIME....I also tested what happens if I change into gaming mode without changing any of the defaults afterwards: Freesync remains enabled after sleep. So the bug lies when you change any settings AFTER going into gaming mode....I also tried installing the HP Display Assistant thinking I could at least control things without going into the OSD and sadly it cannot activate gaming mode, so I am stuck using the physical buttons on the OSD.Otherwise this is the perfect display for the price, it has everything I was looking for and the resolution for this size is perfect at 100% scaling. If someone could help me out with this freesync bug I would be thrilled!

Sounds like what happened to me. I think T430 series driver they Lenovo has for the integrated camera isn't compatible with Windows 7 (even though it says it is). From my other post: I had to remove the device via Device Manager, while checking the box that says "uninstall driver" then reboot and let windows automatically install a driver for the camera. I currently have no issues, and I'm using Microsoft's camera driver version 6.1.7601.18208 (dated 6/21/2006). I still have the features of the virtual camera from the ThinkVantage Communications Utility. So far no issues. I'm running Windows 7, 64bit. (PS : I'm actually using the factory driver now, after running the restore disks. My driver now says: Ricoh, 2/16/2012, 1.2.1.16).

Hello,

I have a fairly new (about a year old) HP desktop that runs Vistax64.

Ever since I brought it home, it has had this same persistent problem:

Whenever I bring it back from sleep or hibernation, the wireless adapter stops working.

Now, my wireless adapter is Linksys Compact Wireless-G USB Adapter (WUSB54GC).

What seems to be happening is that it turns the device off during sleep/hibernation, and then does not or cannot turn it back on upon resume. The only fix I've found for this problem is to unplug the wireless adapter and replug it in. That reconnects me just fine. But it's a little annoying to have to do every single time.

Before you ask, I've tried unchecking "allow the computer to turn off this device" and I've messed around with the power saving options.

I've browsed around these forums a bit and it seems that a lot of people have this problem, but I never saw a single hard solution for it.

Help?

Another new BIOS release for this buggy laptop.
The good news: after several months, the 'brightness flickering' issue introduced in an earlier BIOS update now finally seems fixed.
The bad news: a new bug seemingly snuck into this new release. Since the BIOS update, when closing the lid, my laptop crashes. Reopening the laptop restarts the laptop entirely.
After further investigation I noticed it not only happens when closing the lid. Merely selecting 'sleep' from the shut down menu will trigger the same behavior.
Possibly related to one of the fixes in this BIOS release since it states "Fix Lid close can't switch display issue." With Dell's utter lack of regression testing (or mere testing?) I wouldn't be surprised this fix created new previously unreported problems.

A:Sleep stops working after BIOS update 1.2.18 for XPS 15 9550

Luckily (for now) I seem to have found a solution.
After having updated to BIOS 1.2.18, what seems to be needed is a clean full shut down from the shut down menu. After having done this my laptop (for now) is capable of going to sleep again.
Possibly, the issue was related to some other software running on my laptop, however, in that case I would imagine a 'crash' to be the near equivalent of a full shut down (thus resolving the issue after the first crash). Therefore, I find it more likely this issue had something to do with some of the changes in the BIOS.

After a cold boot, I'm able to copy gigabytes of files from a 16GB SD card in the internal card reader, even with many other programs running. But when I put the computer to sleep mode and then wake it up, I'm only able to copy a file or two at a time before I get a "There is not enough memory to complete this operation" error, followed by an automatic dismount and remount of the SD card. The only way to get it working again is a restart. The SD card works fine, as I don't have this issue when using an external SD card reader. There is plenty of memory free (6GB of 16GB). I've reinstalled the card reader driver from Dell.
Any ideas on what to try? Seems like a BIOS or driver issue to me.

Hi Dantees,
Good day.
When did the issue start? Is that a SanDisk card?
Have you tried different make of cards just in case.
Simultaneously please try this step and  let us know how it goes.
I right-clicked on the SD card device in device manager under Disk Drives, click properties, then go to the policies tab and then select "best performance".
Await your response.

I have a problem with my Thinkpad Yoga 460 which started to occur about 2 weeks ago. Sometimes after bootup the keyboard does not work when I have to supply my passphrase for the hard disk encryption. The solution I have in this situation is to turn the battery of in the UEFI setup. Then pressing the power button for 10 seconds and then enabling the battery again with the power cable. This works reliable to fix the issue, but it is very annoying and when I am at the university there is no socket to enable the battery again. Is something broken or is there a workaround for this issue?

Hi I recently purchased my Lenovo Yoga 720 off of Amazon (less than a month). After going through all the Windows and BIOS updates through Lenovo Companion, I ran into an issue where the touch screen would stop responding. Sometimes upon start up, the touch screen would be unresponsive up until a restart/shut down. Sometimes even restarting/shutting down wouldn't solve the problem. The touch screen was unresponsive more times than responsive during the duration I've owned this laptop. I read in Lenovo forums that factory resetting the laptop and disabling updates would alleviate the problem. I did so through Windows 10's hard disk wiping feature. I disabled automatic updates through Command Prompt and didn't run any updates through Lenovo Companion. This seems to have fixed the issue for the most part, however, I still notice that sometimes the touch screen will stop responding after waking the computer from "Display Off."  Is this a problem such as that with the fan noise, that was fixed months later in a BIOS update? Has anyone been able to use the touch screen flawlessly? Sometimes mid-way through laptop usage, the touch screen will become unresponsive and then become responsive minutes or seconds later. I'll probably continue to use the laptop with automatic updates turned off, but that would mean I miss the current updates and have to constantly check forums to verify that the problem is fixed     Could anyone offer insight into this?

I have disabled the hibernation mode in options but still no help.

A:Portege Z10t-A - touchpad intermittiently stops working after sleep mode

Hi

I?m wondering if the option (within the BIOS) called Wake-Up on Keyboard is enabled.
To restore the operation of the computer from sleep mode, press the power button or any key on the keyboard dock for a short amount of time. But the keyboard keys can only be used if the mentioned option is enabled.

Note: when the notebook is in Sleep Mode, the power indicator will blink white. If the power indicator does not blink white, the notebook isn?t set to sleep mode!

I experienced a bizarre problem today and although I've resolved it now I thought I'd post it here just in case someone else experiences the same issue. The issue was in regards to WiFi not working properly on my Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga S1. After a restart my computer's internet (with WiFi on) would work for a few minutes then it would stop. Long story short, I tried various things, and even uninstalled Norton and other software which I thought may have been a culprit but still the same issue. I also used a USB to Ethernet port (since there is no built in Ethernet port in the ThinkPad Yoga) and connected my computer with a cable and disabled the WiFi to see if it was the wireless hardware not working. Unfortunately still the same issue. Finally I noticed in the Windows Task Manager a process called "Discover.exe". It turned out this was using some noticeable amount of CPU and wondered what this was doing as I hadn't seen that before. I found out that this was a piece of software bundled in with my computer called Lenovo EMC Storage Connector. I'm not sure why it was running but I ended this process. Viola, suddenly my internet was working again! This time no problems.I uninstalled this software utility to make sure this doesn't cause this issue again. I can't understand why Lenovo bundles this software but this seems to have a serious defect and has cost me hours of trying to work out what was going wrong. I hope this is hel... HiHave been loving my Yoga 900 but the touchscreen has started acting up.  While it seems there are lots of issues with Yoga touchscreens I didn't find one quite like myne.I realised it works okay in laptop mode but as soon as the screen gets to about 100 to 120 degrees rotation - so before reaching the switch point to tablet mode - the touchscreen becomes unresponsive.  If rotate it back so it's 90 degrees or so then it starts working again.  If I boot with screen rotated then device manager has an exclamation mark for an I2C HID device, status says "This device cannot start. (Code 10) A request for the HID descriptor failed."  If boot with screen around 90 degrees then I see the touchscreen device running normally.Any ideas?I'm thinking maybe the ribbon cable could be the problem? How doable is opening up the display panel? Thanks for any thoughts!
