Lenovo y50-70 wont start up properly

Q: Lenovo y50-70 wont start up properly

Hello guys, I have a Lenovo Y50-70 Touch that I bought in 2015. Recently it has not been able to turn on . Every time I try to turn it on , it will start up and the keyboard will light up but the screen will be black . And about after 5 seconds it will shut up and keep repeating these steps till I shut it down completely. Does anyone know why? This is a video I found on YouTube of what exactly happens to my laptop. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3A5LJLFt74 Thank You!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I dropped my laptop a couple days ago and I was still able to use it for around another 3 days. The day it stopped working it suddenly froze so I turned it off and back on. When I turned it back on it said:

"Windows boot manager has been blocked by the current security setting."

When I press enter it just cycles through the same messages over and over.

I brought it to acer but their technician was unavailable however the guy at the desk told me that my SSD could be broken.

My laptop is an Acer Aspire V3-77G-9460

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I have been having some problems within the last week. I have an HP Pavilion dv6700 laptop that I bought new roughly 2.5 years ago. It runs windows vista. I haven't had any problems with it up until recently.

Last week my computer wouldn't start up. The POST came up just fine, it is able to complete the windows loading screen (with the short loading bar), but after that, the screen goes blank except for the cursor in the middle, and it restarts.

When I select any of the Safe Modes, it loads all the files for safe mode, but when I get to the screen after the cursor, it goes blank for a few seconds and then a blue screen briefly comes up (1-2 seconds), then restarts again. There have been two blue screens that have come up: 1. Page_Fault_In_Nonpage_Area 2. Bad_Pool_Header.

This is what I have tried/done so far:

1. I was able to go into system restore from the BIOS and "Back-up" my files, but there wasn't a restore point so I couldn't try that.

2. Both the Hard Drive and Memory Test came back as a pass.

3. I tried reseating the RAMM, including trying both of them at different times/slots.

4. I also tried taking out the battery, unplugging, holding power for 30 sec, plugging back in.

5. I also tried setting the default Bios.

6. I ran memtest86+ and Seagate Diagnostics and everything came back as a "Pass"

I'd like to avoid doing a factory restore if possible, as I have some programs that I don't want to purchase new licenses for.

Hi guys. Been having a lot of computer problems lately. It kept freezing and I couldn't figure out why, so I figured I would try to reset Windows 10 via the settings application.

It got about 50% of the way through the process before saying that it failed. So I had it try again, it failed again, so I told it to reset the computer and figured I'd try something else. Probably reinstall Windows 10 via a usb stick.

Now the dang thing won't turn on. When I hit the power button, the tower LED light comes on, my monitor's "no signal detected" message goes away, but nothing comes up. It seems like it is trying for about 5 seconds, then the fans all stop working, the blue LED goes back off, and the "no signal detected" comes back. It stays quiet for a few seconds, then turns back on. It seems to just cycle these states permanently, until I do a hard shutdown.

So I turned off everything, undid the power switch in the back on the power supply, then flipped it again and tried again. This time my computer stayed on, but stopped at the MOBO startup screen and said at the bottom "overclocking failed, hit F1 to enter setup". This is very weird, as I never set up my system to overclock.

I go to the setup page, not 100% sure where the overclock controls are so I tell it to just return everything to default, save that setting, and exit (telling it to reset the computer). It goes back to its frustrating powering off and on again, like it did ... Read more

A:Computer wont start properly

Yup I would lean towards the power supply myself too. as you have already ordered a new one, wait for that before messing with anything else. See how the new PSU works out first. I wouldn't rule out a faulty hard drive or ram, but one thing at a time, lets do the PSU then we can look at other things.

Hi everyone,

I just built a new computer and everytime that i turn it on after a few hours of being off it doesn't turn on right. I will go and turn on the power button and the computer will start but once it gets to the part where it says "loading operating system..." it will tell me that there was a hardware or software problem while starting and give me two options "try and repair it" "start windows normally". No matter what i choose the computer will restart again, and repeat the same process. The only way i can get to my desktop is by turning off the computer by holding the power button and starting it up again. Then for some uknown reason my computer will start normally.

So basically i have to turn on my computer twice for it to work normally. Hope you guys can help me, as you can tell I'm pretty much a newbie when it comes to this stuff.

specs are
OS: Windows 7
RAM: 4GB
Mobo: P55A-UD3
CPU: core i7 860
VGA: HD 5770 Radeon
PSU: Antec 620W Neo ECO
HD: 1TB Hitachi
hope this helps

Few questions.
Does Windows have all of it's updates?
Is this a fresh install of Windows, or did you upgrade from Vista?
What power supply do you have?

Thanks in advance Rose

A:system wont start properly

It sounds like something might be stopping a process from loading called "explorer.exe" this is essentially what you look at when you see the icons, and start menu, etc. Before I, or some other kind individual begins to help, would you please test one thing out (and post results).

When the computer is on, can you hit the key combination "Ctrl + Shift + Esc"

This should bring up a window labeled, "Windows Task Manager". Please report if anything is listed in the window under the "Applications" tab. Also, please check and see if, under the "Processes" tab, you see a process in that window called "explorer.exe" listed in the "Image Name" column.

Cheers

Okay so i bought a computer from ibuypower and i just got it. I decided to make sure it worked by just plugging in the power and starting it up. The lights turned on, fans started churning and it looked fine so i turned it off by pressing the power button again. I then plugged it into my moniter and started it up again. This time it did the same thing as it did wihtout the moniter but nothing showed up on the screen, I waited about a minute and still nothing happened. I tried again and same thing. So i tried it with my new moniter and same thing so i know it is not the moniter. I then decided to take a look inside the cmomputer. So i took off the side pannel and looked inside (dont worry i didnt touch the mobo or anything) and i notied there were a few cables that were not plugged in nbut i did not see any obvious locations to plug them into. One of them was coming from the graphics card and another one had "SATA: written on it. Could someone please help me? I have pictures if you want them, just email me at

A:Lenovo G570 beeps constantly on start up - keyboard and touchpad don't work properly

Shanuka,
Welcome to the forum!

Would you turn off the system and restart and see if you can go into BIOS?   If you get the constant beep on startup and are unable to press F2 (I believe it is F2) to enter BIOS, then it sounds like you may have a stuck key on the keyboard, or the cable for the trackpad or keyboard is not fully connected to the systemboard, OR the internal cables are pinched.   If this is the case, then I think you probably need to contact Lenovo service for help as it is likely a hardware issue.

If you are able to go into BIOS, are you able to move around in there?  You could try reloading BIOS defaults and reboot.  If everything works in BIOS and the problem is only in Windows, then it could be a driver / setting (less likely), but you could try to open mouse in the control panel and check settings.

But just based on the symptoms, it really sounds like either the touchpad or keyboard has a stuck key or is acting as if one is stuck due to the bad cable connection or a short.

Mark

Hey, thanks for reading this! I'm completely new to the forums, and am here for this question only, as I'm at a loss of what to do. My Lenovo Z70-80 has been dead for months now for a second time. The first time, my dad and I figured it was the charging port, and he replaced it. It worked again for a while, and then the same thing happened. Nothing had been done to damage the AC adapter or the charging port itself this time, so recently we ordered a replacement AC adapter to try and see if that was the problem, as the one we had had been chipped away a bit. I just got the package today, and plugged the PC in. immediately when I pressed the power button, it started up, but after a few seconds, it simply shut down. I've tried starting it up again a few times more, and sometimes it does nothing at all, sometimes it does the same thing as the first time. One thing I noticed was the occasional blinking orange light at the front of the PC, which started up most times I tried the power button (without the screen reacting).  In conclusion, I hope this made sense as I'm pretty much illiterate when it comes to computer issues, but I hope someone is able to help me out on this. It's been a major inconvenience to have this laptop dead, especially right now with college applications, studying, research, etc. Thank you so much for reading this far!

I bought this laptop in 2014, and had a great time with it. After roughly 2 years, the GTX860M died... booting up would result in a complete freeze before i could even log in. No BSOD whatsoever, just a complete freeze. Yes, i even reinstalled windows multiple times and tried to reinstall the drivers in safemode, nothing helped the situation. I could get around this by disabling the nvidia gpu in the BIOS, which was tricky, since the BIOS itself would freeze aswell after roughly 15 seconds. Then, the past few days my laptop screen would disable itself (it would just shut off, only my second monitor would work and hold all my windows, as if my laptop screen wasn't there). It also wouldn't boot properly from time to time either, the keyboard would light up (sometimes i couldn't change its brightness, and sometimes i could) but the screen would never turn on. I did some research and what seemed to help others was holding down the powerbutton for 10 seconds (didn't help), some even unplugged the battery and drained the system of power (which i did aswell, also didn't help). After that, the system would refuse to fire up at all. I can't get to the BIOS, the keyboard won't light up, i can't get to anything through the button next to the power button (forgot it's name). The power button just lights up for 5 seconds, and that's it. I checked the motherboard to see if anything blew, haven't found anything so far. i tried to switch the places for the RAM, doesn't help eit... When I tried to restart the computer, it booted to the desktop but before anything could be done it quickly shut off again, and now wont restart at all (no lights or anything). I'm assuming a faulty power supply unit is the problem but I'm not positive. If someone might know something else or has had the same problem please help. Any knowledge is appreciated!

A:Lenovo 3000k Vista, shuts off, now wont start up

Hi loserspearl,

It could be either a software fault(malware) or a PSU fault. You could boot into the BIOS first and see if the issue appears there aswell. Just press DEL during startup and you will be presented with a blue/white screen. Have a look at the temperatures as you see if the computer does the same thing again.

You can also try to boot into safemode (Press F8 during startup) and see if it does the same thing. Let us know the results and I'll get back to you with further instructions.

Hey guys!! So yeah, I have a Lenovo Ideapad Y700 15ISK laptop. It's a really cool laptop! And it's a monster in gaming! Also, it's new. I had it with me for about 2 months now. I don't routinely use many usb devices, only my mouse and keyboard and every now and then my ipod. I figure the issue is likely either the power supply or the motherboard. The ps is almost two years old while the motherboard is only about three months old.

A:Computer wont start, power supply wont start, blinking led

It sounds to me like your PSU is the problem, get a hold of another and plug it to your computer and see if that will make it start, if it doesn't it might be BOTH your motherboard and PSU. A bad PSU will burn a motherboard.

Help,

having to use the works computer to post this. My home pc is failing to startup.

Before it had gotten this bad, I had experienced crashes and reboots whilst it was working. They became more frequent and now the computer wont start at all. The power comes on, the fans all whirr, but the computer doesnt even get to the point where it displays the introductory bios screen.

Any advice?

Computer is a little old now. Intel 2600k inside.

First try to log in Safe Mode (F8) and use System Restore. If not, you need a Windows installation CD, so you can repair Windows at Windows Repair (WinRe) console.

I bought the Lenovo yoga 900 in December as i was about start medical school, now after only about 6 months of use, while i was using it one evening, i decided to take a break from school work, when I got back to my computer it had powered down and tried to reboot but didn't make it pass the Lenovo screen, i tired exhausting the battery power and trying it again but to no avail. so my question is has anyone had this kind of problem before and if so what is the solution? Also is this a common problem and how long is the company warranty for my 6 month old computer, in case i need to give it back to get something more reliable, its kind of disheartening as i had believed this was the best decision i made for medical school, but now am left with the possibility of failing the semester due to faullty equipment. SOOO PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME SAVE MY SEMESTER. Thnak youjay

A:Lenovo Yoga 910 wont load pass the Lenovo screen.

Try getting into BIOS first and loading default settings. To do this, press the small "Novo" button (you'll need a paperclip for this), and select "BIOS setup". From there, use the arrow keys to get to the "exit" tab and select load default settings.

If this doesn't work, let me know.

A:games wont run properly

How many ram do you have? Actually the intel graphic onboard video card is not really good for newer games. You'll need to buy a decent card that can play games with no lag.

Hi All

This seems wierd but whenver i choose shut down, it gives me a screen like normal shutting down but without the words "savings your setting....." followed by system hangs.

Need to push restart button, but start up is ok. Recently deleted McAfree and installed Zone Alarm. Do not ask me to recover system because I do not have the CD or anything. HOpe someone would help me here. Thanking you in advance. (Have to "force" the system to shut down by holding on to the "start" button)

A:Xp Wont Shut Down Properly

Shutdown issues are really a PITA to troubleshoot. In my experience it's usually caused by a program refusing to shutdown (and Windows insisting on shutting it down).

The first thing that I'd try would be to terminate all unneeded services in Task Manager before shutting down (make a list of them). Then see if it shuts down OK. If it does, then it's the fault of one of those services that you terminated. If not, then we've gotta look elsewhere.
