I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Last month, kept getting blue screen of death with various errors at bottom: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Been happening sporadically before but amped up last month for a few days. Hi, last two days mainly when watching video I experience suddenly the screen of death of orange color. The laptop doesn't restart though I do hard reset. I can't say where is the problem. Probably it's something to do with video card. I have both Intel (R) HD Graphics 530 adapter the driver of which I just updated and also GeForce GTX 950M card whose drivers I regularlly update through the NVidia experience. Can it be any other problem? Recently after one of the BSODs I foolishly run reimage repaire program which is recommended throughout Internet and I'm afraid that it too messed with my hardware.

I have never seen a screen like this in the 20 years I've had my own computer.

I had Windows 8 on a secondary drive as a dual boot with Windows 7 temporarily as I migrated to Windows 8. I somehow messed up either the boot loader or somehow corrupted the Win8 install for which I'll skip the details for now. But it was just as I was starting to decommission my Win7 install (I removed one drive from the 2-drive mirror running Win7 but figuring the single disk left would still run in a 'degraded' status. It ended up messing something up.).

I've been running bootrec /fixmbr, fixboot, scanos, and rebuildBCD from my Win8 USB stick and it says it completed but no luck on booting. I get either 0xc0000001 or 0xc000021a errors. Auto repair can't fix it.

I tried running this command, "bcdboot c:\windows /s c:", and got the screen shown in the attachment. White vertical lines on an orange background.

The only drives connected is the Win8 SSD sata drive and a DVD drive on IDE. I disconnected the DVD drive and the Win8 flash screen would appear with the circular dots but would freeze right there.

I don't have logs or screenshots to show but the single partition on the SSD is marked as active via diskpart (no system reserve partition), bcdedit shows c:\windows as the default location of the OS, diskpart shows the partition as c:, but the DVD drive is disk0, and the SSD is disk 1. Would that be a problem?

It is like it can't find the winload.exe file but I verified it exists... Read more

A:'White Vertical Lines on Orange Screen' Screen of Death

Have you tried putting the removed drive back in?

It looks like a video card problem (hardware) to me - but it shouldn't be that because you're able to use the USB Startup Repair functions (am I right in this assumption?). That means (to me) that it's likely to be a video driver problem (?).

Can you attempt to boot into Safe Mode? If so, what happens?
Does the screen problem show up after POST is completed? If so, at what point does it show up?

Hey!
Im new ofcourse, and i thought this is the best place to post about my problem seeing as i looked at how other people were helped and how professional you all are.

Anyway, im using Windows Vista, and i have recently been getting a blue screen randomly. It usualy is something to do with 0000007F, but the screen always closes too fast to write everything down. Google didnt help much.
It usualy occurs when i open a game like MapleStory, or if i suddenly close a lot of applications fast. MapleStory used to open nicely, so im really stumped.

Its annoying me really alot, as sometimes i run an application and i would get Blue screened and loose all my work.

Uhhm i remember 1 thing that could cause it. I have a new External Harddrive. Its USB ofcourse, and i kinda use it as a datapen. Is that right? I plugged it into my brothers computer, and after he took some files, he unplugged it and gave it back, and got a bluescreen shortly afterwards. Now i have tried running my computer without the harddrive plugged in but i still get blue screens.

Im willing to download anything or upload anything that might help fix this, i really want my computer back up to no bluescreen. Thanks!

Hi to everyone!

I've had it with this Windows XP installed in my computer. Almost everytime I try to run multiple applications, it turns into BSOD! Nowadays, its getting worse... I just opened my computer and after the login screen... BSOD! What the hell... I just hope that while I am typing this message, Windows XP don't go BSOD! However, when I'm playing games, it rarely goes BSOD...

How can I fix this problem?

Reformat and reinstall?

The hard disk doesn't have any viruses...

Any help!

Thanks in advance!

Hi all,

I have this annoying problem that when my AC power is plugged or unplugged it makes a beep.
Muting the sound completely helps, but that's sometimes not an option.

I tried the following and no luck:

Editing a registry entry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Sound\Beep and changed it to "No".
Uninstalling the Beep device from my device manager.
Turning off my pc speaker, unfortunately, I didn't find where I can disable it.

My sound card drivers are: Realtek 6.0.1.5969

Anyone has another idea?

Thanks.

A:Orange Screen in my Laptop

Hiya and welcome

This sounds like a hardware issue. Does the entire screen turn orange, or just some parts? Also, is this happeing at random times, or after a few hours, etc?

We could see if the grahics card driver can be updated, to see if thats the cause:

Go to Start | Control Panel | System. Device Manager. Under Display will be your graphics card. Also, rightclick and select Driver tab. Whats the driver version?

I also assume this is XP home/Pro.

A:Screen Goes Orange on Laptop

Does the problem remain constantly or is it on and off?

Possible loose cable from screen to motherboard, haven't heard of it with a laptop though.

If you change the resolution - does that make any difference?

What happens if you change the colour quality to 16bit in display options?

Recently I have been having an issue where the screen will randomly go completely orange or sometimes black. It takes me rebooting my computer to resolve it.

I have ran a diagnostics and it says there is nothing wrong. All drivers are updated. The LCD was replaced about 4 months ago.

The only thing I have done recently was reformat my hard drive. I used the win xp cd it came with but had to create my own driver cd before hand as I couldn't find the one it came with. I am kind of wondering if maybe I installed drivers in the wrong order and maybe that is what is causing the issue...as it never did this before reformatting.

Is there something you could recommend or do you think it could be the drivers?

Thanks in advance.

I have a HP Pavilion - 15-au158nr LAPTOP. Earlier this week, I turned on my laptop, and I noted a fine line of yellowish-orange tint in the bottom side of the screen. that night, I turned my laptop upside down, and in the morning, the yellow tint at the top of my screen. Then, when I turned my computer right-side up, and let it sit there for a few minutes, the orange tint went to back to the bottom of the screen again. I asked my friends and they said it was a burn in, but burn ins only stay at one spot, and my tint moves around. anyone have any idea on what is happening??

A:My laptop screen has a yellowish orange tint on it. what happened?

Hi there,

Googling the specs of your computer, it looks like your laptop has an HDMI port. When you can, connect a spare working monitor to your computer via HDMI. Then see if the issue happens on the spare monitor.

I am thinking either your laptop LCD screen or integrated video card has gone bad. If the yellow-orange tint happens on the spare monitor, it's possible that the integrated video card on your laptop has gone bad. If not, it's possible that your laptop LCD screen has gone bad. I have a feeling the culprit is with your laptop LCD screen.

How long have you had this laptop may I ask? Have you had this laptop less than one year? If so, laptops have a one-year LIMITED WARRANTY. Assume you had this laptop less than one year, I recommend contacting the manufacturer and have them repair the laptop for your via warranty repair. The rep will either send a tech out to you or ship you a box, in which, you will have to ship your laptop to their repair center.

Hope everything works out well for you.

Hi guys,
I recently (within the last 4 months) purchased a gaming laptop. Seeing as the MSI brand was getting a lot of good reviews, I searched and found one of there laptops to fit my needs perfectly. The MSI Ghost Pro - 002 looked like a fast and lightweight laptop.
The laptop is great when it works and it works most of the time, however there are these occasional freeze. Pointer/Mouse/trackpad is locked. Sound becomes static/buzzing. No BSODs (until today). No Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Nothing works besides a hard reset.
I should say that these freezes are not a new thing to this laptop that I got. It actually happened within the first couple days of use and has now become more frequent. It use to be maybe once every couple of weeks, and then once a week. But now it has happened on almost a daily basis; however it is not consistent. Luckily, I have yet to encounter it happening more than once a day.

I have already tried calling MSI and seeing what they can do. However, the issue I am running into is that without any definitive causes for the crash, I am not sure if the problem will occur if I send it in for an RMA. They said they cant replace or fix the issue without see the problem and determine what the issue is. That is understandable though, but still frustrating that a new laptop will have this issue.

If anyone can help me solve this problem that would be great.

I have attached the debug file that came with the first crash screen ever today on June 1. I would like to say ... Read more

Just a heads-up: I bought this Lenovo Yoga 13 Ideapad in 2013, so it's out of warranty. A:Orange LED of Death.... Think pad 600

Welcome to the Lenovo Community!

A steady orange LED generally indicates that the battery is being charged.  If it was green before and it suddenly turned orange at the same time the LCD went dark, then that could mean something more involved is going on. Can you attach an external monitor and see if there's any activity there?  Best thing to try is to first connect the monitor, power it up, then boot the system and press and hold the F1 key to force it into the BIOS (Easy-Setup) menu. That should automatically activate the external video (VGA) port.  You can always force the port active by pressing the Fn+F7 key combination. Doing that will cause the video display to cycle between the the LCD and VGA port.

A dark screen can have several causes: a bad backlight (aka, CCFL), a bad inverter, a bad ribbon cable, a stuck lid switch, a bad Sub Card, a bad motherboard.  You can try shining a strong flashlight onto the screen and see if you can make out any images.  Do this without any external monitor connected so that system should default to using the LCD.

Most days now, you can find 600 systemboards on eBay, here at Lenovo Forums and also at TPF

Hello, I was not sure where to post this as I haven't got a clue as too the problem.. thats causing all this mess! My problem is with my Dell Optiplex 745 thats running the OS XP its about an 3 year old computer now. Ok so heres my problem I went to boot it up and all that I got was an solid orange/amber light, which is normally a green light .. it will stay on just long enough to get the disk drives green light to turn on and the fans to run. Also it don't power up long enough to get the monitor to wake up or go in the BIOS. Then it shuts down again.. it has been doing this over and over since yesterday.. I have had the problem in the past.. and to by pass the problem I would open the dish drive door and put in a disk that I use to boot up with in moments like this and it would boot up.. but since then the disk drive has quit reading disks so I cant rely on that like I used too... I contacted my father who I talk to for all my computer problems.. and with him on the phone walking me though the steps of unplugging everything from the back.. done that and nothing.. taking plugs out and then replacing them back in and still nothing... took out the memory cards and checked them one by one and still nothing.. unplugged the disk drive and wouldn't you know still nothing.. even went to as far as taking out the hard drive and making sure that it was running and as it turned out it is running. i even just removed and then replaced the battery and still nothing.. I had recently purchased a new modem, the motorola model because the old 2wire one was busted, and tech support told me I had to get a new one. So no problem, when I got the new modem everything was working fine like it used to be.

So I'm browsing the internet minding my own business with my Netgear Rangemax WNR834B router and the brand new motorola modem on Windows Visa, then all of a sudden, the connection stops working.

I look over to my router, and what do I see? Orange lights! However it's only temporary, in about 5 or 10 seconds or so it reverts back to its original green lights. Then it works perfect again, no problems.

However it occasionally comes back with orange lights every few minutes, dropping my connection every now and then, and it's getting real annoying. I can't watch a Youtube vid without it not loading up in the middle of it, we can't play online games because our connection randomly drops, it's very frustrating.

Can any of you good people throw anything out there to help my situation?

My entire laptop just freezes up and then a minute or so later I get this BSOD error. I restart....it starts back up and either the same BSOD comes up right after or it runs ok for a while before I get the same error again. Sometimes it can run for hours until the error comes up, other times it happens right away.

Is it the motherboard? I had to sent my laptop (Asus G53JW) to the Asus repair centre and they had to replace the motherboard. About a month after this, I get this error often like I explained above. I started getting this around March 8th or so. After the first two times it stopped for a while but lately it's EVERYDAY and a few times a day.

A friend wanted me to look at her laptop to find out what's causing the blue screens. As I was using it earlier a blue screen popped up, but it was too fast to read(is there any way to get a screenshot of the screen?). Right now the computer is in safe mode and i'm running a virus scan(i'm not trying to find a virus, just trying to see if it's heating or a memory problem). I think it might be a driver conflict or something. Any ideas or wisdom to try out and see if I can get this working in normal mode?

Thanks

Hello, I will be out of the country for about 12 days and I am thinking I should unplug my laptop (switch the powerstrip to OFF) while I'm away just to be on the safe side. I want to do this for peace of mind since I will be so far away. I have an old laptop that is running on 3 cylinders.

Upon return, will I be experiencing difficulty turning my computer back on? BTW, I am with CenturyLink Wireless.

I've not done this before as I've not been gone that long.

Thank you very much.

When I close the lid of my computer, it makes the alert noise as if you unplugged a device. When I open the lid, it makes the alert noise as if you plugged in a new device. The screen takes a few seconds to turn on, and all of my windows which were open will be resized, and all of my desktop icons are rearranged.Happens every time I open or close the lid, and it's been about a week now.About two months ago, I actually sent this in to Lenovo for some repair from a drop, and they replaced just some plastic parts of the shell and the keyboard. It worked fine when I got it back, and once the screen is on, it continues to work fine. I'm mentioning this because I don't think the screen is becoming physically unplugged, it looks like it is in top shape after the repairs. Any thoughts?-Matt

hello,
I'm looking for help with my 2005 acer laptop which won't boot up even in safe mode, I do however get the blue screen of death.
Brief history : I got a new laptop a few months ago so I put the old acer away. I decided to give the old laptop to a family member so I retrieved all my important data from the laptop and reset it to factory settings. This all worked fine and of course it went back to vista OS...once I finished all the updates (this took quite a while) I then updated to windows 7 which i was using before on this laptop, again this was successful. As I continued to install programs I had previously on the laptop (malwarebytes, Panda anti-virus etc.)..everything installed and worked properly so I continued to install windows office...the laptop rebooted several times successfully, until...the blue screen of death appeared..at this time I tried to start in safe mode to no avail...the laptop would try to repair itself and came up with the 'contact the manufacturer' screen...since this is an old laptop that had been running for quite a long time I feared I damaged some hardware...I managed to get to the 'reset to manufacturer settings' default screen by hitting the F key on start up, but it required a password...the default password, apparently in 000000..this did not work and I don't have any other password, so now I'm at a standstill...I have used your expertise before successfully and I hope you can help again...I've attached screen shots of the errors...thanks ... I understand that the system and everything is old, but it's all I've got to work with right now.

I have a Compaq Evo N800C running Windows 2000 Professional.

Everything was working fine, then suddenly Blue screen of death with error "0x0000007B: INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE"
I've tried every option in the F8 & F10 setups, everything takes me back to the blue screen. I know I read that this might be a virus. I read a suggestion about taking the drive to another computer to check this - I'm very very very home user basic beginner and I don't know if or how the drive can be removed from the laptop and put into my Dell desktop to check it.

Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated

A:Blue screen of death on a Dell laptop

Hi hkopene019057

My name is Anrick ,I work for the Dell social media and community
You have mentioned that it usually occurs when you are playing a game, so I would suspect the problem to be related to your Video drivers or the video card itself
First thing you can try is updating the Video driver from our support site ( www.support.dell.com) selecting the correct model of the system.

In order to help you better with the issue I would like you to answer to these questions
1. When usually these blue screens occur?
2. Do u get an error code or error message if yes what is the code/message?

The Blue Screen of Death (also known as the BSOD) is a screen that Windows shows you when it shuts down your computer in order to prevent damage to it. It's also known as a STOP error or as a BugCheck Code. It is a hardware error by definition - but this doesn't mean that it's caused by faulty hardware. Viruses, corrupt drivers, and even poorly written programs can cause it.

How to Find BSOD (Blue Screen) Error Messages: follow this link
How To Find Bsod Error Messages

3. What happens after the blue screen, do you have to restart the system, it restarts itself or it comes back up normally?

I have a cheap dell laptop inspiron 15 3531 with windows 10 installed. Last night I got repeated blue screens, there was at least three or four different ones. The two that I managed to write down were; bad system config info and IRQL not less or equal. It said it needed to restart but every time it did it came up with another blue screen and then it restarted a final time and nothing came on the screen at all. I tried to restart it manually, but again nothing on the screen. The power comes on and I can hear the fan but that's it. I did a little research on my phone and it was suggested I take out the battery and power cable and hold down the power button...nothing, I removed the memory and put it back...nothing. I'm guessing a piece of hardware has failed. I have also tried to connect it to a monitor but again nothing. Anyone have any magical ideas? Thanks.

All dumps blame athrx.sys, part of your wlan card drivers
Update the drivers: http://partner.atheros.com/Drivers.aspx

This was likely caused by the following module: athrx.sys
Bugcheck code: 0xD1 (0x538, 0x2, 0x0, 0xFFFFF8800487B836)
Error: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

A friend of mine has asked me to repair his laptop as it is experiencing the BlackScreenOfDeath. I've tried entering cmd with ctrl+alt+del but to no avail. I've also tried the sticky keys method, this also didn't work. I've tried about every option on the f8 repair menu.

I've also tried reinstalling windows on his computer with a USb that does in fact work on other systems. The windows installation stalls on the setup is starting.

At that point, I'm able to get a window open using shift+f10 but when I try using diskpart, nothing happens and it displays a message saying MINWINPC. I've also seen a few people online claiming you can use bootrec.exe but when I run >bootrec.exe/FixBoot I'm told no drivers are loaded, then 0 windows installations are found.

I've tried booting a bootable linux usb but it stalls on a black screen also.

Is this a sign of a broken hard drive? Can someone try offering me some advice.

I have a toshiba satellia M40X laptop... Couple of weeks ago, it all of a sudden realy slowed down... The movies were laggin, and surfin the internet was taking forever and everything was slow, so i decided to format it... But even right after the reformatting, the laptop didn't go back to it's regular speed... it's so bad that the flash games online lag, and i've been playin those games since i got the laptop and they never lagged... Anyways i've been trying to fix the slow problem but today i got the blue screen when i was surfing the internet.. it said;

Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
NMI : Parity check / Memory Parity Check
***The system has halted***

Then i just restarted the computer and kept surfing the internet then i got the screen again, but when i restarted this time, the laptop was makin weird noises and the screen never came up, so i restarted again and it worked...
I did a google search and i ended up finding the windows diagnostics tool, and i'm doing a scan with it right now to see if the ram is damaged... I'll let u guys know what happens with that scan...

Basically i'm a university student and i need to go back to school in a couple of days and i need to fix my laptop for my studies... and i can't buy a new one right now... I'd be so glad if you guys could help me out...

I am trying to help a friend fix his laptop and find that I am woefully unprepared to help. The computer boots up to the Dell page and only gives me 2 options: Boot or setup. That is about all it will do. I am running a diagnostics and memory test now. The problem is not the screen unable to work, because it is working and in color too. There is no way to get into safe mode and that means there is now way that I can go back to a date when the computer worked. From the tests I am getting error code 2000-0142. Any suggestions or does this laptop need to visit a pro?
Service tag is G2CBSX1, if that helps.

This particular code indicates a hard drive failure. It may be possible to remove the drive, slave it to another PC / laptop, and then see if it's possible to rescue data from it, but oftentimes it's irrecoverable.

I have a one year old Asus S6F laptop. Was working fine up until this morning. Today I turned it on and nothing happens. The computer powers on (the green light is on and you can hear it trying to work), but the only thing I see is a black screen. I've rebooted a few times, and this black screen is all I get.

Any suggestions? Doesn't look good to me...
