I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Ok,this one is wierd. I just installed winXP Home on a new hard drive, and downloaded this program:

When I open the program I get this Error

This program worked on my computer fine with my old hard drive and it still works fine on my buddy's laptop. Not sure where to go from here...

I have two different microphones of different brands, and both of them produce a constant clicking noise in any recording when I use them. I believe that this has something to do with Windows XP 64-bit and its USB drivers, because my problem is very similar to the one described here:

The clicking sounds like this:

Last night I recorded a DJ set, 2 channels in 24/96 and the computer failed about 3 hours into it. I?m not completely sure why. I was using a new app for recording Vegas 9.0. I have used SF 10.0 and used it to complete the night. The computer should be able to handle it. Back in 05 I recorded multiple times never an issue with a single core P4 4 channels at 24/96, 7 plus hour sets (different audio interface) .
I know there a number of professionals as well as hobbyist that might know of ways to tune a windows computer by turning off any unnecessary windows apps or other tweaks so I can have more resources for recording.

I have a recording studio (using Sonar X2 Professional 64 bit version).

I doubt that its a Windows OS issue. Other programs running can eat into memory and CPU time but I doubt that it would cause the PC to bomb out. Either a problem in the recording program or a hardware issue would be my guess.

I had one of those low cost Rosewill cases. It didn't last long and was replaced by a much better Coolermaster.

Overheating comes to mind as the first possibility. My recording studio system is an Intel i7 3770 CPU with 16 GB of G.Skill Ripsaw RAM, but I've never used over 6GB and that was with several midi channels along with several analog audio channels. I have a Corsair H80 liquid cooler for the CPU, for both cooling and to reduce fan noise. i'm using a Coolermaster case with plenty of (low noise) fans. I record at 24 bits, 44.1Khz (which is mixed down to 16 bit, 44.1Khz CD standard).

When i want to record system sound, eg in a game, its quality is weaker than the one I hear. The problem occurs only on the device with the realtek hd audio driver from dolby digital +. I tried to update the driver, reinstall it, change it to an older version, disable dolby digital, but it did not bring any effect. It looks as if the sound did not come from the driver only from some bypass during recording. because when I changed the state of the "internal subwoofer" and "front" in the settings, there was not even the smallest difference in recorded audio.

Like I said the headset has a microphone and I when I use the sound recorder program before it use to record both left and right channel. I could hear audio from both channels or speakers. But now all of the sudden I can only hear sound from the left channel or left speaker. Weird right? I know. So I need help from you guys why is this happening. Why is the sound recorder program only recording on the left channel?

Hello! This is my first post here, as this is my first issue with this computer. My microphones won't pick up any sound- this computer has two different ones, an integrated one and an outer one, and yet neither work. Troubleshooting only picks up whether they're enabled or not, and I've tried recording after enabling them and disabling them, restarting, etc. I've checked with Beats Audio and they're turned on there as well, and the drivers say they are up to date. Yet nothing is working, when I used to voice recognition test it wouldn't even pick up any outside audio. I should note that the webcam doesn't work as well, because when I bought it, it would disconnect the internal camera often, and when trying to fix it, someone uninstalled the driver or something - though at the time, audio still recorded just fine and I didn't need the webcam. IDT High Definition Audio CODECIntel(R) Display Audio If any other information is needed, please let me know! Recently purchased a HP refurbished HP xw6400 Desktop upgraded to windows 7 Pro 64 bit 8 gig ram, 1tb hard-drive and everything works perfectly, except I cannot find a recording device, and from the general number of posts on Google I'm not the only one to have this problem.
This is the only problem, speakers work fine, webcam video works fine, just no microphone. Front or back jack
The unit is under 30 day warranty so I am loathe to change to much, I have no idea of the sound card fitted.
The HP site says I don't need any downloadable drivers,. I did try the HP 64bit Vista driver, but it failed.
I have tried all the remedies I found off the Google posts but none work.
I am pretty much a layman in computer terms, and this is my first windows 7.
I have tried two webcams out, both fail on this system, but work on my lads Vista system.
I wonder whether anyone has a solution, I am loathe to attempt to return the unit, it meets all my other expectations and more, besides I have a limited budget and as I will probably have this problem on another refurbishment it best to see if it can be resolved

A:How do I find a Recording Device Win 7 64bit Pro

Desktops normally do not come with a microphone. You have to supply a "computer" microphone.

Web cams are a different issue. Is the PC not detecting them at all? (is the USB port you are using work with some other device)? or is it detecting them but no driver is found?
Some web cams are plug and play (meaning Windows has drivers or if your are on line can find drivers) and others require installing a driver FIRST and then connecting the unit.

I would like for someone to check out my BSOD info for me, please. I've included the necessary attachments.

The BSOD occurred when I tried to open a game called Puzzle Quest 2.
I had Yahoo Messenger and Firefox (and possibly Winamp) also running at the time.
I have opened and played this game many times before, likely with the same other programs open too, so I've no idea what went wrong.
The problem has not repeated itself tonight, yet.
This is also the very first BSOD my system has had.

I have a Windows 7 home premium x64 system.
It is the original OEM pre-installed system that was included on my HP/Compaq CQ5201F, and it has never been un- or re-installed.
The system is dated August 26, 2009 according to the system specs website, although I bought it in late November '09/ early December '09.
Here is more detailed spec info if required:

The only hardware not originally included is an ATI Radeon HD 4650 video card, via PowerColor, and it was installed almost a month ago.
Here are its more detailed specs, too:

In addition to the required BSOD info zip, I'll copy-paste the message that came up when windows restarted, in case that's of any use:

OS windows 7 64 bit hp.

Goal: To install a program in local disk c -> windows folder -> windows subfolder.
I read on a site it will work.
I will first test it on a virtual maschine, in case you think it won't work.

I ran the installation as administrator, that is right click and press run as administrator.
Still during installation windows prompted, that it could not install the program in
a subfolder to the windows folder because not administrator.
And asked for a rerun of the installation as an administrator.
It's mine computer, so I'm administrator.

How do I install the program in the described subfolder?

A:Win 7 64bit won't allow to install program in the WINDOWS folder.

you can make a 32 bit voice the default voice when turning on the computer.

Hello everyone. I am using a old-ish Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista. So, every time I'm playing songs on YouTube, then open FL Studio 10, FLS 10 won't let me play or record any audio. When I look at the "ASIO4ALL" box it has A little red "X" on audio output(I use "Realtek HD Audio" if that helps). Now when I stop the internet audio/YouTube and restart FLS 10, the little red "X" is gone and all the sound works... I was wondering how to play Internet audio while playing or recording audio on FL Studio 10 is there something I can tweak with the laptop audio or some better sound program I can download free(or not free)and not have to get a new sound card??? Thank you for your time. Peace.

FOUND A FREEWARE (yes actually free, no ******** oh it's freeware until you've downloaded it then you find you actually need to pay to unlock the features you wanted) UTILITY CALLED MEDIACODER THAT DID WHAT I NEEDED.

Hi. Well basically what I was wanting to do was take a sample of some of the audio from a video file playing in Windows Media player to use in some music I'm making. (Purely for my own amusement, not for sale, no copyright infringement etc etc).

I have Ableton 5.02 and an M-Audio Firewire 1814 external soundcard. I foolish assumed there would be a setting in Ableton to simply monitor the output from WMP and record it direct. Apparently there is no such setting which surprises me somewhat. You can only monitor inputs from the soundcard. In effect I would be wanting to select the output of the soundcard to actually record what I'm hearing playing WMP on my speakers. Ableton told me it was only possibly with an extremely complicated workaround.

I did try simply plugging jack leads from the output to one of the inputs but the sound is distorted in a metallic manner. I have no idea why that is so what I decided was there has to be a simple way to left segments of audio from a video file.

I can't think how you can do it with WMP, so is there a simple piece of shareware/freeware I can use to take audio from video files? I don't want the whole of the audio I simply want a portion of it, preferably as a .WAV file of good quality. Surely ... Read more

Hi, folks.
I purchased an E6230 secondhand, less HD. I installed a SanDisk 240GB SSD & upgraded the RAM to 16GB. I loaded W7 Pro 64bit on the machine, loaded drivers per instructions on the E6230 driver download page, & activated Windows via phone. The audio worked fine until I upgraded to W10. After much fooling around, I reloaded W7P64, drivers, etc. as before. Audio was working fine after opening Sound & checking Speakers as active. Device Manager showed two devices, high-def audio & the Intel IDT. Connected to the internet & Windows downloaded 212 updates, which I proceeded to install. The update installation failed at which point Windows reverted back. After rebooting, the speaker in the system tray has a red X & it only shows three HDMI sources, no speaker or headphones. Device Manager shows only high-def audio, no Intel IDT. I tried to reinstall the audio driver found on the download page but I get a message saying that "the hardware detected is not supported by this IDT software package. The install will be aborted". I've tried earlier versions as well.
I've tried Googling the problem & have seen that others have had a problem but they seem to have the IDT still available in Device Manager. I'd really like to get this resolved. I like the E6230 & it runs well except for the audio. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Hello. There is no requirement to install the IDT audio driver. You should be getting audio now with just the Windows native audio driver (High Definition Audio Device). Something might have gone wrong with the IDT audio chip for it to no longer be recognized.
The best way to test the audio hardware is to perform a system recovery and return the laptop to the original factory configuration but you don't have option. You could download a version of Linux Live, put it on a disk and boot into it, as a test. If the audio hardware is okay but not now working because of a Windows issue, then it will work in Linux.

A:Problem updating program version in windows 7 64Bit

I don't think the issue has anything with whether the OS is 64 or 32 bit, I as well as many others update both 64 or 32 bit software/programs all the time and have no issues running a 64-bit OS (Windows 7).

Now I'm not a programmer but what I think may be your issue is how the program is coded, and whether it's updating the files it needs to update.

In short, you may have to look at your code and make sure you have it setup to install, execute, and or update at either the 32 or 64 bit level.

You might also make sure it's not skipping any files, which it sounds like it is by not updating the version numbers.

Again, I'm no programmer so....

My two cents.

My webcam was constantly being used by another program, thus making the use of it practically impossible. After uninstalling the programs which may be associated and reinstalling the drivers the problem persisted. Somehow the problem was solved yesterday, when I tried to have a video conversation with one of my friends the camera launched up and send my video to the recipient. However, today I received a BSOD during Windows boot and did a full recovery to factory settings using the backup DVDs I have. Everything seemed to be fine at first, yet after I installed Team Viewer, Google Talk, Microsoft Office, Nokia Ovi, VLC player the problem showed up again. Is there a method to find which program uses my camera? I do not want a full Windows reinstall again because the problem shows up again. Any suggestion is appreciated, thanks for your contributions.

I watched a youtube video a while ago on how to boost my laptop's volume. I followed the instructions on there, and it did work. It made my volume much louder, but I didn't like the loud white noise when no music/audio was playing and so I changed it back to what it was before.

Ever since then, each time I start my computer, I have no audio at all. When I go in to the device manager and quickly disable and then re-enable the "Realtek High Definition Audio" driver I do have audio. This is a real nuicanse and I don't want to do this every time I start up...

I downloaded and installed the newest realtek driver for my specific system from the realtek website, and I still have the same problem. No idea what to do.. Need help from someone who knows what they're doing.

A:Something wrong with my sound on 64bit windows 8 toshiba laptop [realtek audio driver

1. Welcome to Tech Support Guy
2. Generally speaking - and for your future advice - YouTube is NOT the place to find - guidance on how to do anything with a computer - there are far better places and much of the content posted on YouTube can most certainly be described as either unreliable or inadvisable
3. It would help a lot if you could post details of what the changes involved
4. On the speaker icon on the notifications area - right click and click playback devices - what is set as the default device

I have a Dell Inspiron 3521 laptop with Windows 10, and I want to do some audio recording.  The problem is that I'm getting no sound input either from the internal microphone, or the external.
I think the Realtek sound driver update is to blame, and the settings are misconfigured, since it did work before.  Is there a problem with Windows 10, or perhaps the drivers?
How can I repair this?

Dear Friends:
I have a problem which I present in front of you for a solution. While listening to some songs from a music site [htp:// www.raaga.com] I tried to record the same using PCI audio applications. Eventhough recrding was appeared to have been taking place, recorded file could not be played back. There was no sound when the file was played . Kindly let me know the method of recording [in any format] while listwning from the site. Down load option was not available in this site.

Thanking You

Most likely the site have made it impossible for the sound to be recorded, to prevent theft of the music, but as you dont say what application you used to try and record it, its a little difficult to say for definate.

I wont say how it can be done as this condones piracy and I dont do that sort of thing.

I have lots of vinal/tape/md that I need to copy and edit etc. to CD.

Not all in one hit but fairly reguilalry.

Now, what I'm using which seems long winded is below procedure. say for 12" to CD, also my PC is in the room next to my DJ room ! (so plenty of running from room to room to start/stop recording of both MD and PC!!!)

1> copy record to MD, eq'ing,.
2> edit MD to exactly how I want the CD
3> play MD, into PC's soundcard.
4> record using creative recorder as a .wav file
5> edit spaces on .wav file
6> convert to .mp3 using a different program
7> copy to CD using NTI pro. programme

the .wav files are pretty big as the mixes are usually around 30 minutes long.

help !

This is what I've been doing, and if you have diferent types of chord/cable connections, ya might be able to not use the equalizer.
Carry your turntable over to your computer. You don't need an amp. I take the double "stereo outs and connect them into a 1985 radio shack volume equalizer or any thing that will combine your two channels into one plug. and come out of that with one chord to computer, use a pin converter(large plug into small pin) to enter soundbourd. Don't use mic in, but try different inputs to get best input. I use music match recorder, basic, it has a volume limiter on input. You can record the whole side of lp. Then re-record this through "Audacity" its free, and get rid of snap, crackle and pop. It takes a few times to get it right, or just close ur eyes and pretend your sittin next to a fire. Take the recording from Audacity and down load to a file, latter to be uploaded to ur cd. Once in the mood and motivated, this ain't too big of a job and audacity really cleans it up. Can't remove skips though. This is totally basic and I learned how to do it through boredom. Plus nothing blew up.
good luck

I want to record my sound coming through the computer and say things into my mic at the same time.I watched a bunch of people do this by putting on stereo mix and then unmuting the mic sound level by right clicking on speakers in your sound mixer, going to properties, and unmuting the sound level, the problem is the only sound level I find in there is my speaker's,not my mic's.Is there a way to make it so I can see my sound level of my mic so I can un mute it?

i am trying to record some audio. I have a eurorack mixer (not high end but not low end by any means) and im plugged into the headphone-sized mic jack on my pc. im getting a hissing sound on my recordings i cant seem to get rid of. in trying to discover the source of the problem i turned the main output on my mixer down to 0 and my mic input on my pc down to 1. when i plug headphones into the mixer i hear nothing (as i should, the volume is all the way down), but when i record and play back the recording (which should be silent) i get the hissing. i have used kristal audio angine and audacity and both suites have had the same problem, so it is not software related. any help?

Hi, I'm looking for a freeware program that records all audio out. I've seen some programs which record streaming audio but do they also record other audio? One of my friends told me about a program that did this but I don't remember what it's called exactly. It was something like WMC Encoder but I've had no luck finding it. Does anybody know what program he was talking about or a similarly good program?

It has to be a windows application. Thanks for your help
