Sound from all of my speakers (Sound Blaster Live, Audigy)

Q: Sound from all of my speakers (Sound Blaster Live, Audigy)

It makes it sound like the only way to get sound from all of your speakers is to enable cmss and click that top option. The only way I can get sound from all of my speakers is to enable the bottom option. What is the deal, and am I getting the best/worst sound in the way I am doing it?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This is probably in the realm of the experimental.... but is it, in fact, possible to use an Audigy or Live! pci card to record two or more audio tracks simultaneously? I'm making audio demos of some songs i've written - but being broke all i have is old-a$$ tech to work with. And recording an entire drumkit with one SM58 mic is just not good enough.
SO! Can either of these cards do it? I'm quite prepared to attack them with a soldering iron if the occasion demands it.

Many thanks in advance from a budding self-taught beginner computer tech

A:Multitrack/Multichannel recording on Sound Blaster Audigy/Live!

If you are using either of those on windows xp,then they
should be fully functional and you could probably use
this to record multiple tracks from different inputs.
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/about/features
It's free.
Both those cards have limited functionality in vista and windows 7,
so probably not going to work with those.

hello all,

I have been having this problem for a long time. Hope someone can provide me with some guidelines and suggestions.

I'm using a Sound Blaster Live! Value sound card and PC-Works FourPointSurround FPS1000 under WinXP Pro SP1. When I play mp3 or other media files (under winamp or WMP), the sound output will become distorted occasionally (a loud buzz sound that lasts for approximately 1 second) after the installation of the latest driver (Sound Blaster Live! - LiveDrvUni-Pack (English) dated 28 Feb 03)

The sound card and speaker system work fine with the initial driver that comes with WinXP. However, the 2 rear speakers cannot be recognized with that driver. In order to take advantage of the full surround system, I believe I must install the Creative package (driver, AudioHQ and etc.)

I have also tried to install the driver and program (AudioHQ, Mixer and etc.) from the original CD that comes with the card. However, when I try to access AudioHQ, it yields the error "Fail to initialize Mixer" and the program will shut down automatically. It had worked in Win98SE but it does not work for me under WinXP. The new versions installed through Sound Blaster Live! - LiveDrvUni-Pack (English) do not have these problems.

I have tried the following attempts but to no avail
- set volume to different level
- set Reverb and Chorus to different level under EAX Control Panel; turned off all effects
- change my latency level in CMOS
- change the sound card to anothe... Read more

Hi,

I recently purchased the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy FX and am having problems getting it to actually play any audio or record any sound.

I've browsed other threads with similar issues on this board and as such have disabled my motherboards onboard audio in my BIOS settings, have reinstalled the drivers from disc and from the Creative website, and even attempted to use Driverpack Online to download any missing drivers. However my problem still persists.

I can see that the Sound Blaster Audigy FX is present on the sound option on the control panel, but it never actually plays any sound. Additionally, whenever I try to play a test sound in the speakers advanced properties I am returned with the error "Failed to play test tone".

I've included a few screenshots that might help make things a bit more clear, and I'd be very appreciative of any help I can get with this issue.

A:Creative Sound Blaster Audigy FX Sound Card, no playback/recording

First thing, I assume you have correctly attached your speakers to the new SoundBlaster.

As you have a separate sound card, did you disable any on-board (on the motherboard) audio in the BIOS? If not, that is the first step. The on-board, is still enabled, can conflict with the SoundBlaster.

Also, temporarily disable the AMD HD audio in the Device Manager for testing (the AMD is for HDMI audio). Reboot after doing this.

Finally, although this has may not have any affect on playback, the default recording device should be the SoundBlaster "What You Hear". In the Recording sound panel, RIGHT click in an empty area and then check to show Disconnected and Disabled devices. If the SoundBlaster was installed correctly What You Hear should now show up and you can enable it and make it the default recording device.

I'm looking to buy the Creative Lab Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum eX sound card, but I'm not sure how compatible it is with my current system, which is an HP Pavilion 7960. It says you need an available adjacent slot to the PCI card for the Audigy extension, which I don't know what it means.

Also, I saw a picture of it online and I see that it comes with two cards and a black box. I figure that one card is supposed to be the actual sound card, and the other is this mysterious Audigy extension. But what is the black box?

Hello;

I'm trying to make my "Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum ex" works on Windows 7 64 bits, I did install the most new version of the drivers provided by Creative Labs, it seems like it is installed without any problems....the Device Manager shows all drivers are installed correctly...when I run the audio test the graphic moves like if the soundcard actually works but the real thing is: THERE IS NO SOUND!!, I have done all the tests that Creative labs recommends in their page but I got nothing, please could somebody help me to make this sound card works??

Thank you!

A:Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum ex does not sound in Win7x64

That is an old sound card and what Creative calls a "legacy" card. Do you have the SB set as the default audio playback device?

Do you have any integrated audio (on the motherboard) devices enabled? If you do, disable that in the BIOS as it can conflict.

Try reseating the sound card (with the PC off) and see if that makes any difference.

Have you tried plugging a headset into the GREEN speaker jack on the rear of the card, in case your speakers are the fault?

Also, please fill in the My System Specs as it helps us to try and help you.

A:On board sound gone after installing Sound Blaster Audigy Fx...

Hi: See if your BIOS has an onboard audio setting. If it does, it may have automatically gone to disabled when you installed the add on video card. Check the options you have for the onboard audio setting. If it is on Auto or Disabled, change it to Enabled, save the setting where you made the change, and again when you exit. The sound should work on both devices then. And if the audio card doesn't work with the onboard audio setting on enabled, then change it to Auto if the onboard setting had been on disabled.

A:Sound Blaster Audigy SE or on-board sound?

ok you will need to download this program because there are a few motherboards that use that

http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpuz_147.zip

than after you have downloaded it right click on the file and hit extract or it might say unzip than open the extracted folder if it doesn't do that automatically than run cpuz. after its finished loading look at the top and click the tab that says mainboard than write down the information it says about your motherboard than post it here and that should make it easier to tell you which is better.

With the newest version of the drivers for my sound card i get a very loud and irritating crackling noise. Especially when using Ventrilo when people talk and Warcraft III.

Not sure if its the sound card or the programs that are causing the problem

Worse comes to worse i may just end up buying a new sound card but I'd like to see if there is a way to fix it before i do that.

Hmm.

Could you downgrade your current drivers to something a little bit old.
And see if you still have this problem?

It could be a bad install or faulty sound card.

Hiya. I seem to be having trouble with my Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum. I'm running some Logitech Z-680's through it and gone through everything on the installation CD for the sound card. However I get no sound from the rear or center speakers and the sub when I try to calibrate them, all I hear is the two front. I've updated the drivers to the newest versions available to no avail. Also another thing that happens is when I run WinDVD 5 and I set the audio on that to 5.1, I am not able to hear dialogue. I can hear music and the background noise, but no dialogue. But when I play music on Winamp I can hear it through all my speakers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Help with Sound Blaster Audigy 2 and 5.1

This is all in the Creative software, btw.

Make sure you don't have the speaker settings sync'd with the control panel, because it resets to 2 speaker mode. Also try enabling CMSS 2. Hearing no dialogue in DVDs indicates that the center speaker isn't being used.

A:Sound Blaster Audigy

I'm not as familiar with the Audigy as I am with the Live! but I think the different cards are packaged similar as the Live! cards were.

Audigy with 1394 suggests to me that it has Firewire ports.
I think the only difference in the XGamer and the MP3+ is the bundled software. As for the Platinum, I'm not certain about the Audigy but the Live! Platinum came two ways, OEM and Retail, The OEM was just the card and drivers and the Retail included the LiveDrive (a bay mounted panel that contains controls and ports that are connected to the card) I'm pretty sure the Audigy is also packaged this way.

The Platinum Retail would be the way to go in my opinion because that drive is very handy to have and well worth the difference in price.

Here's My Story - For (2) years my Creative Audigy Platinum Sound Card has been working great, O/S upgraded through WIN98SE, WIN2000Pro, and WINXPPro - all great until the other day when I downloaded and installed what I thought was a driver update. Enough said about that mistake. OK, I reinstall the driver - its there, I can even play my MP3 files with WINAMP, just like always, however this error message appears"Unable to initialize audio device, please check to see if you have a sound card installed properly" - go into the system, click on properties and XP says everything working fine - but I'm convinced this is an XP problem, for instance no sound comes from the speakers when you first start up, no sound comes from my DVD player. This is probably to much rambling but does anyone have a flash here, ever experienced this sort of problem. Any suggestions, as always are appreciated.

Thanks

Hi. First of all, i would like to say, that i am from central europe, non-english speaking country so be tolerant to my language mistakes, please. Thanks.
I didn't find here, or anywhere else, someone with similar problem, so that im asking you for help.
Some time ago my sound card just stop working, but nothing changed in my hardware. Frist i thought that it just burned, but few days ago i tried it in other PC and its working perfectly. That brought me to thinking about driver which could work incorrect. So i downloaded lastest driver, and tried to install it. But i spent over 6 hours to uninstall old driver and still nothing happens. i tried to remove it with device manager and from properties of my sound card and still the same problem.waiting and nothing. Another, not so important problem, but could have something doing whit it, is, when system is starting or shuting down and speakers are still on, it makes some strange blasts. I think that it started to doing this when i changed my OS to win 7 but it was almost the same time when i changed my power supply due to stronger graphics card so i'm not sure.
Finaly, my question is: Which files should i delete from Hard disc and/or windows registry so that install wizard thinks that no driver is here? Or have anyone some other clue to solve that problem? I will manage with proper working sound card. Thats all what I want.

A:Sound Blaster audigy 2 Value malfunction

Hello !!

First i would recommend to turn off Automatic Driver Installation then remove all the Creative Products from the Programs and Features.

1) Open Device Manager, locate your soundcard, right click it, choose Uninstall, check "Delete driver files" and click on OK. Reboot when prompted to do so.

2) Boot into Safe Mode:

For 32-bit: Open the \Windows\System32 folder and delete APOIM32.EXE, APOMngr.dll, CmdRtr.dll.

For 64-bit: Open the \Windows\System32 folder and delete APOMgr64.dll, CmdRtr64.dll.
Now open the \Windows\SysWOW64 folder and delete APOIM64.EXE, APOMngr.dll and CmdRtr.dll.

Now delete the following registry trees:

For 32-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Creative Tech\Software Installed\APOIM
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Creative Tech\Installation\CTRedist\APOIM

For 64-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Creative Tech\Software Installed\APOIM
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Creative Tech\Installation\CTRedist\APOIM
Then when you reboot the System it should tell you unknown Driver with a Yellow exclamation if you have got that far then it means the Drivers are out of your System. Then you could install Daniel K's Support Pack 2.7 version. SB P17X Series Support Pack 2.7 (04/01/2010) - Aud... - Creative Labs

My speakers have a static sound coming through them. When I plugged in earphones, the problem was still there. The driver is up to date. What could be the problem?

A:Static on Sound Blaster Audigy 2

As you said it's a 'static' noise so it could ironically be from any internal device within the computer be it a HDD to a fan motor even RAM can do it. Suggest give your computer to an expert, someone who can clean it without breaking it and go from there. For you to do is to check that the external cabling does not run close to exterior influences (of the electromagnetic kind) and check the jacks / connectors are clean, dry and dust-free.

Hello,
I recently built a new computer. Everything fired up and is running just fine! My sound card arrived later and I cannot seem to get it to work. I plugged it into the PCIe Slot with a little difficulty. The metal bar that faces out the back of my PC was wedged between my mobo and case.
When I booted my computer up it told me it detected a new PCIe card and that I needed to enter my BIOS to switch from PCIe 2&4 to PCIe 2&4 and Front USB 3.0. Not sure what that meant, but I hit DEL to enter my BIOS. I went in and couldn't figure out what to change so I saved and Exited. My computer booted up fine but did not detect my sound card.
When I had the card plugged into the PCIe slot, the screw hole on the metal bar didn't align with my case so I had to used a little force to get it aligned and screwed in. Ive tried unplugging and plugging the card back in, but I never get the message that a new PCIe card is detected and my computer doesn't recognize a sound card.
Could it be when I move it over to plug in the card isn't all the way in the slot? Could the long metal bar on the card be the problem? How would I rectify that? Am I missing a setting in my BIOS? I am trying to install the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy RX into an ASUS z270E Mobo. The PCIe slot I am using is the only one available as my 1080 Ti is blocking 2 others and the 1st PCIe slot wont fit it either due to the mobo.

Thank you for any help!

It seems to only produce sound at the 50%-70% levels compared to XP/vista. i know this for a fact since i've done testing. it's annoying to have the volume up 100% all the time with it STILL not being loud.

Hey,
Can anyone help me to get 5.1 surround sound working in iTunes for my Sound Blaster Audigy SE (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102012). I have tried a few different ways but just cannot get it working. 5.1 works in games etc. Can anyone help?
cheers

A:Sound Blaster Audigy SE and iTunes, no 5.1.

i think its because most audio files are stereo or something but im not sure.

i think this should work if you have vista anyway. go to start and find creative audio console and open it than in the tab that says cmss-3d and select enable than it should work. if you dont have the creative audio console download it but it says the creative audio console is only for vista

Hi! I just installed a new mother board and cpu. Its an ECS 755-A2 mother board with a 3200+ AMD Sempron/64-bit CPU. It's not the best, but i was trying to save money.

Before, I had a soyo and a 2800+ AMD Athlon XP and i had the Sound Blaster Live 5.1. Now with this ECS mb, the sound card doesn't get detected anymore, even in device manager. I downloaded the new driver for the Sound Blaster Live 5.1 from their official website and when I came to install it... it said that there were no Sound Blaster cards detected on my computer even though it was securely pushed in IN a pci slot!!

Then I decided that I don't need sound blaster so i installed the driver for the integrated sound card on my mb (realtek AC-97) and everything LOOKS fine according to their program and the control panel (sound and audio options) but i dont receive any sound from anything at all. I was planning on buying a NEW sound card but then i decided to test this Sound Blaster Live 5.1 on my bro's computer. Ironically, it was detected on his 1.2 ghz AMD Athlon Thunderbird and now i'm puzzled as why it wasn't detected on mine.

What solutions have I tried?

I installed numerous drivers for both the sound blaster and the integrated sound card repeatedly and there wasn't any hope.

I re-installed the OS twice (I'm willing to do a third though)

I don't know what else I can try.. can anyone help and please don't say the mother board :[?

The problem might just be the new board, it may not support the sound card, or maybe it really isn't plugged in all the way.

Happened to me with my Firewire card took me forever to put the dump thing in I keep pushin and pushin, but not to hard because you'll break the card and you don't want to do that.

so just keep pushin slowly it may look like it is in but it probably really isn't

I hope creative can help you with your problem.

Or ot may be the new processor/ board combination, why didn't you just get the Atholon 64 instead of the Septeron 64.

I don't think many cards are compatible with that

A:creative sound blaster audigy se drivers

Hi Kovans,

The first thing i would try is boot in 'Safe Mode' and run 'Device Manager'. Then, uninstall ALL sound devices you find. Next, right-click 'Computer' from the start menu & select properties, then 'Advanced system settings' and under Hardware click 'Device Installation Settings' and make sure that 'Yes, do this automatically (recommended)' is selected. Next restart the machine. When Windows reboots it will start the 'New Hardware detected' wizard, and will check Windows Update to see if the drivers are available.

Once this is done you may/will need to install the latest drivers from the creative website in 'Cpmatability' mode for Vista/XP depending of the drivers you download.

Hope this helps

Jeff

my computer, an AMD Processor with a SIS chipset (ill post the full setup info later, if needed), boots up fine if i dont have the card it. But when I put in the Sound Blaster card it freezes up at the BIOS...never gets to windows. Anyone know anything about this? it might have something to do with IRQ's...

thanx in advance.

A:Problem with a Sound Blaster Audigy Mp3 + card

You really need to try another sound card or alternatively try your card in a different machine.
Freezing at the BIOS is a definite hardware fault. IRQ's are assigned through windows and the machine would still boot through the BIOS.
If the BIOS is set to factory defaults, you have to assume that the card is faulty or not compatible with motherboard (unlikely !).

Hello,

I've installed Windows 7 on my desktop with dual boot to Vista. Everything's been working fine but I haven't been able to properly setup my sound-card to function properly. As of now, I currently have no sound and I've been through many different drivers from the Creative website.

I've also tried running them in compatibility mode with Windows Vista and Windows XP SP3.

I am currently getting this error message under the "Device Status" In Device Manager, "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)".

Windows has been automatically installing the driver version 5.12.1.2004 dated June 13 2007.

Can anyone please help me with this issue? It is currently ruining my Windows 7 experience!

Go to this page and look at the latest drivers for your product. There is a newer Vista driver that you should try.

Win 7 x64 build 7100
I cleaned the dust from the comp & since then I am getting this error, sound is only working on front 2 speakers. i ensured the card is properly installed, which it is. Last 4 months its been working fine with 4.1 speakers.

Now I cant start the EAX control setting.

I uninstalled the card & drivers & cleaned the registry then reinstalled the drivers from CD.

On installation of the drivers & sound it detects by old speakers as stereo only but all 4 speakers give sound which is too bad, I can now use the EAX control settings
then I run the windows update it download a creative driver which when installed does show me 4.1 speakers but now the EAX control panel wont open & gives error
"the audio device supported by this application is not detected. The application will exit"

any clue what went wrong & how can I get this working?

Yes, this,

Don't install the driver from Windows Update if things are working. In fact it is a good idea to NEVER install a sound or video driver from Windows Update, they haver a very bad habit of breaking things.

Uninstall the Windows Update driver and see if things start working again. If that doesn't work running System Restore using the last restore point before the Windows Update driver got installed should fix it.

I'm running my sound blaster audigy to a pioneer receiver. It set to digital, and connected via a 3.5mm plug to COAXIAL connector. Problem is, the coaxial plug is a stereo plug, meaning I can only use 1 of the 2 for sound. When I do a speaker test, I only get sound from the left and right speakers. If I plug in the other side, I get the rear channels.

Anyone know a way to get this working correctly? Or maybe a website that sells a mono 3.5mm to coaxial plug? Thank you.

Did you move the front panel headset/mic connection from the Motherboard to the SoundBlaster? If not give that a try.

Since you are using the SoundBlaster, disable the RealTek on board audio in the Device Manager, to avoid any conflicts. Windows only allows one default audio playback device, anyway.

hey everyone,

i am just about to purchase a creative sound blaster audigy 2 ZS 7.1 sound card. the thing is i have to buy speakers to go with it and i was wondering if 5.1 (Creative Inspire 5.1 T5900) surround speakers would be compatible with a 7.1 surround sound card. lol i dont want to open them both up on christmas and find they dont connect properly

thanks everyone

A:Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS question

Yes it's no problem you'll just use one less speaker output, and set it up as 5.1 in the SB utility. Wiring schematic is included in both the sound card and speakers.

Hello friends, the only solution to have the 'what you hear' with Sound Blaster Audigy in W7 is using the driver: SB24_VTDRV_LB_1_04_0065A ??

Or there is also a more updated driver option since these are old.

Thanks!

The Audigy sound cards are relatively old (many were made for XP). Thus what you have may be the best driver.

Today my Sound Blaster Audigy sound card came in the mail. When I insert the disc into the drive and try to run the setup, I get this error:
start.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application.
So, I decided to try to manually install the drivers through the device manager wizard. I guided the driver installer to the win2k driver folder on the disc, and everything seemed to be going fine. I restarted the computer, only to find out that it says this under device status:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.
No matter what I do, I can not get this thing to install properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! I ordered the card so I could finally play COD, but I can't until I get this thing working!
Thanks,
-X
