I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Your PC is a desktop, not a notebook. Desktop PCs do not have switchable graphics. That is a high-end notebook feature. The Omen 15 has it. When a video card is installed, the Intel HD graphics is disabled and the video you have is proviided by the video card only. Which specific games did you try to run? There is a website called Can I run it? that willl give you a report on the hardware in your PC and specific gameshttp://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri If your PC won't run specific games it could be because of the entry level graphics and Intel CPU that is installed in the motherboard. Your desktop PC is not meant for gaming. It is an entry level productivity desktop PC.

flcph2015 Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the situation is that you should not have done the Win10 Upgrade.  Their Upgrade tool does a really poor job of detecting switchable graphics prior to the updrade, and as a result, folks like you end up with machines that are no longer fully functional.  Same thing happened to me. With switchable graphics, the only working drivers come from the OEMs that make the machines, because the hardware is customized, so to have to be the drivers.  MS does not supply these drivers, nor do the video card makers. So, without HP Win10 drivers for your PC, you're stuck with only two outcomes:1) Keep Win10 and struggle with the graphics problem2) Return your PC to the original OS. I chose the second because I prefer a PC with an older OS where everything worked, to a PC with a new OS, where some things do not work.

Marko91 HP laptops, especially the older Win7 machines, often came with two different graphics chips -- and Intel and then, either an AMD or Nvidia.  This was known as Switchable Graphics or Hybrid Graphics.  You ran using the Intel chip most of the time, but when you needed extra graphics power, like in Gaming, the PC automatically switched over to using the AMD or Nvidia graphics chip.Problem is, this requires special graphics drivers to work, and while those came preinstalled on the Win7 laptops, those drivers simply do not exist for Win10.  Those drivers are not available from Intel, AMD, or Nvidia.  A way to tell if your PC has two different graphics chips is to look in Device Manager under Display Adapters.  If there are two different adapters listed, one Intel and one AMD/Nividia, then you have this problem -- and if you force an upgrade to Win10, you will have serious graphics problems and your machine will not work. Please follow these directions to find the detailed product number for your laptop:  Finding Your HP Product Model Number | HPģ Customer Support With that information, I can see if there are HP Win10 vide drivers for your laptop. We can proceed once you provide the information. Thanks

Alright so I've got a serious problem here, my manufacturer which is ASUS in my case will NOT be supporting this graphcis card or the computer itself so I'm left out in the dark.
I have tried with everything and I came to the conclusion that modded drivers works the best which still is pretty bad(switchable Graphics profiles are not saved - Adding Photoshop for example today results that in a week it will be wiped out and the performance will be zero)

The generic AMD drivers does not work, the HP drivers works 50-50, I can Control Everything with switchable Graphics
except for the manual program adding and the modded leshcat drivers are not of my liking.

Considering the fact that AMD supports ENDURO on the whole Radeon HD 7000M series I would expect it to work on the generic drivers.

So if anyone got anything that could help my situation I would gladly hear you out.

I'm thinking that using the modded drivers will be my last desperate move.

P.S. I'm also not using the newest Intel Drivers as they are reported to cause problems

Hi, my laptop is overheating and wasting power because it is always running my ATI Radeon mobility graphics card. I have switchable graphics, and I want the computer to ALWAYS start up using Intel HD graphics.

I cannot find ANY settings to make Intel HD the default graphics card.

I have tried uninstalling ATI radeon graphics card. It always reinstalls AND SWITCHES to it on startup.

How can I make Intel HD the primary graphics card(PREFERRED), or completely remove ATI radeon so it never reinstalls the drivers after I have uninstalled it?

Thanks

A:Disable ATI radeon switchable graphics or use Intel HD by default

There would be an option in your BIOS to disable/enable onboard graphic chip. Also look for something along the lines 'Init Display first' (though these differ bios to bios) and select 'Onboard' or similar equivalent option.

You can also disable your radeon card through Device manager. Open Start menu, type 'Device Manager' and select it from the list displayed. Look for the card>right click>disable.

If unsure, post a screenshot and we'll work you out through the steps.

Hi there. My issue is related to my switchable graphics option. I have an Intel hd 3000 and an AMD radeon (I'm not sure of the exact model as I can't search for it as my machine is currently stuck in a system restore loop so I'm having ti use my phone right now). There is one game I use regularly which, for some reason or another, is incompatible with my Intel graphics chip so I had previously used the right click on my desktop menu where I would select switchable graphics, and then manually allocate that particular game to my AMD chip rather than my Intel one. When the game updated yesterday, it reverted back to my Intel chip for some reason and when I right clicked on my desktop, the option to change it had disappeared. I looked on this forum for an answer to my issue and came upon this answer: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Switchable-Graphics-Options-Missing/td...Which appeared to fit my problem exactly. However, when I did as the instructions told me to and uninstalled both of my graphics devices and their drivers, and then rebooted, followed by installing the file linked to in the answer and rebooting again, this resulted in my Intel 3000 disappearing entirely from my device manager list, and my AMD chip being stopped by windows as it has reported an error.I tried reinstalling the previous driver linked to the AMD chip, but that did nothing at all. Hello,
I bought a HP Elite 8460p notebook, and it comes with Intel HD Graphics 3000 and a dedicated AMD Radeon HD 6470M.
It came preinstalled with Windows 7. And I quickly removed it and installed Windows 8.1 pro from scratch, I formed that hard drive, but not the recovery drive.
After I installed with 8.1 I noticed that the dedicated graphics card was not installed and the drivers aren't there. I tried Snappy Driver Installer, I tried the driver from HP for it. I've even tried suggested route from hp's forum, AMD Radeon HD 6470m Driver for Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit -"Hp ... - HP Support Forum - 3073197

But I am unable to find those two drivers with those versions anywhere listed on the HP forum where some users state that that technique/solution does work.
I'm not sure what todo, I really don't want to go to Windows 7. As I have purchased Windows 8.1 Professional.
I've ran speccy, and it does not show a second graphics card. I see no options anywhere on this computer for switchable graphics, and I do not see anything in device manager installed or missing.

Can someone please help me out?

A:ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 Graphics (switchable)

Evgeniy64 That's probably NOT going to work because the ONLY drivers that will work on PCs with Switchable Graphics are those provided by the OEM -- in this case, HP.  If HP does not have Win10 drivers for your model PC, the Upgrade will be a disaster. If you can, please follow the directions in this link to find the detailed product number of your PC: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824?jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0001If that is not possible, then look for a sticker on the PC that includes the product number and post that here.  If the battery is removable, the sticker is likely to be in the battery compartment. With this information, I can check to see if there are HP Win10 drivers for your PC. We can proceed once you provide the information. Thanks

Hi guys i need help.

I have an Acer Aspire E1-572G (Windows 8.1 64-bit OS) with Intel HD Graphics 4400 and AMD Radeon HD 8670M. When i run games however, my laptop uses Intel card instead of my AMD card.

Things i've tried:
Setting application to High Performance in Switchable GraphicsReinstalling AMD/Intel Drivers from both AMD/Intel sites and Acer sites (Used a proper uninstaller to remove all files)Disabling my Intel Graphic Card results in my laptop using Microsoft Basic Rendering DriverUninstalling my Intel Graphic Card also results in using Microsoft Basic Rendering DriverUsing CPU-Z shows AMD Radeon HD 8670M but most information are missing (unknown or 0) unlike Intel Graphics which displays everything. Upon clicking sensor, all my temperatures are set to 0 (which means it's not in use)Using dxdiag shows my Intel Graphics as default driver, not AMD.

I've tried everything i could possibly do so i'm seeking help from experts here. I've seen articles which stated that Windows 8.1 are buggy with Switchable Graphics and may cause problems like these. Is that true?

A:Switchable graphics doesn't use my AMD Radeon HD 8670M

For dual mismatched GPU's like Intel/AMD I recommend using the laptop manufacturers drivers, over doing two separate driver installs. The laptop manufacturers driver is custom tailored for your dual switchable graphics. Which driver are you using now? I haven't had any issues in Windows 8.1 as far as my switchable graphics goes. Mine are AMD/AMD though so I can use a driver right from AMD's web site. I get all kinds of ccc has stopped working messages in Windows 10 though.

So I just purchased this new Acer laptop.
It has a Radeon HD 6650M, and an i7-2360QM with HD Graphics 3000. The Graphics processor within the i7 is the primary VGA and I cant get the computer to utilize the Radeon. Its supposed to be switchable with the catalyst drivers to run off the i7 for increased battery life, and the Radeon when pluged into an outlet. I've downloaded the Drivers off of asus' website and that did nothing. And when I open The Catalyst Control Center, it gives me the option to use "High Performance Graphics" this of course does nothing. The computer still runs off of the i7.

I contacted Asus technical support via online chat, and they had no idea what they were talking about, sying something along the lines of "You need to take out your new AMD card and put in another and see if that works." I told them several times that I had a laptop and no option of switching graphics cards. so I'm hoping someone here can at least guide me in the right direction.

Since I still might RMA this laptop, I don't want to do anything too crazy to get access to the Radeon. But I will accept crap battery life if that means I get to at least use the Radeon.
The Catalyst Driver version is 8.813.1.0

A:Acer Laptop: Switchable Graphics using i7 & AMD Radeon

First, I suggest that you restore your original driver setup from when you first got this laptop while you perform tests of this new graphics system. In recent years the graphics drivers for both video chips had to be installed together as a package, and installing the stand-alone driver for the AMD or nVidia chip screwed things up for some folks.

That said, please be aware that I just started reading about these new graphics chips this week. I am hardly up to speed and certainly no expert.

But it is my impression, based upon this article here (nVidia Optimus, I know - but AMD and nVidia tend to mirror each other in technology):
Nvidia Unveils Optimus Switchable Graphics Technology | PCWorld
it sounds to me like the more powerful graphics chip does not "kick in" until you are actually doing something that requires more graphics power.

Here is the AMD article:
AMD Switchable Graphics Technology
While it is not clear, it could be assumed that they are doing the same thing.

Not having complete control over my computers settings would drive me right out of my mind! If these new graphics chips only run on automatic that is a real negative for me.

Let's see if others with more experience with these chips will chime in. I think this thread would be better in the Graphics Cards section for best exposure to the people who might know. I'll see what I can do about that.

From what I can tell from the Dell documentation, you can only use one or the other and if the optional video, such as you have, is installed that is the default.

The Dell BIOS is protected and any attempt to modify the Dell BIOS will most likely cause it to Corrupt. There is no recovery from a corrupted BIOS on a Dell, the ONLY option is to replace the motherboard.

I'm using Hp pavilion g6 2305tx which has dual graphics. I bought it 6 months ago and it cost about 60 grand in Bangladesh.

I was using Windows 7 and everything was fine. I could play every game I want  but after upgrading to window 8.1 I'm facing this switchable graphics problem. Device manager shows that driver has installed properly but when I switch to high performance for any game, it(game) stops responding but game can start without any problem in Intel HD 4000 graphics i.e I cannot use my dedicated graphics for which I bought this laptop!

Also, there in no driver for blueooth. Specificly Ralink RT 3290 Bluetooth driver. I found driver for this hardwere but not suitable for windows 8.1. Okey BT is not a big issue but what about the graphics driver? What is Hp doing? sleeping? Where the updated drivers for Windows 8.1? How long I have to wait? As I have brought it with BDT 60 grand I have right to ask for updated driver and I want them ASAP.

I repeat, I have AMD Radeon HD 7670 graphics in my laptop and driver has installed correctly but whenever I switch my graphics to high performance I cann't play  any game. This is because I am not provided with correct drivers for Windows 8.1 64-bit os.

As the list is displayed, you will see Intel Graphic Driver & AMD Catalyst install manager. You have to uninstall it both in express mode so that no other previous setting are available anymore. 3. First, uninstall Intel Graphics driver. If it asks for a restarting the pc than go for it. 4. As the list is displayed, you will see AMD Catalyst install manager, right click it and uninstall it in express mode. Uninstall all the AMD component. Restart your PC as it will ask you. 5. Go to This Pc or My Computer and then C Drive. Open Program Files & Program Files (x86) both of them if you are running 64-bit Os. In the search box write AMD and you will find some remaining files- delete them all. 6. Now you PC is free of previous drives and the remaining files. Although right click to Windows sign and go to Device Manager. You will see Display adapters and uninstall them both. This step is not necessary but just to be sure that your PC has no previously installed drivers. 7. Open your browser and download the latest Intel Graphics Driver for your PC. My driver was Win64_153322. Install it. If you install it correctly than you are half way through. Restart your PC if it requires. 8. Go to AMD web site and download the latest driver. To avoid ... Of course Ive searched the web and HP's forums for answers but the only thing Ive seen was to install some custom drivers (which I prefer not to install).  So my question is. Is it ok to install the latest drivers for my Intel and AMD GPU's from their own websites instead of installing the ones provided from HP? Would that solve my problem? Im asking this because I bought this laptop specifically to play my favorite games and the AMD 6770m supports those games. Hey guys. I recently bought an Acer Travelmate 5740. I didn't realise how bad the 4500MHD graphics were and I have heard about external graphics cards and 'switchable graphics'.

I did a few googles but obviously I am searching the wrong stuff. I have a chipset that allows switchable graphics, so is there a way of upgrading my graphics to something better? I don't mind spending a bit of money to get a lot more bang for my buck and I have heard ATI has external graphics that sync with internal ones or something.

Would I be able to upgrade this card (or remove it for a better one) could I pay a professional to do that for me, and where would I buy the new GPU?

Thanks for helping.

No not really since the GPU chips are soldered into your motherboard. So even if you could find someone capable of removing the 4500MHD chip he would also need to find and purchase a higher quality GPU chip that most likely wouldn't be able to simply be re-soldered into the old chips socket, then their could be all kinds of compatibility issues I would think.
Basically your stuck with what you have.

I have only been able to find this setup that allows for the use of a full size PCI-e graphics card.

The only video I could find on how it is setup http://www.externalgraphicscard.com/

This is really not a solution for your issue since this requires a laptop with a PCMCIA port, the MagmaBox1, additional LCD and a full size better graphic's card.

Installing generic drivers from Intel and AMD solved the problem. The drivers given on HP site are not working. This is a shame that HP cannot specify correct drivers for its own products on their site.

Hello folks!

One of my friends having a problem with her laptop's switchable graphics (Intel & AMD Radeon) driver on Windows 8 OS. She wants to switch to Windows 8 from 7, but had issue with graphics driver. I also tried to help, downloaded the latest graphics driver for HP Pavilion G6 1215-et (64bit) named "SP59147" from the main site of HP, installed correctly but it says "WDDM 1.0.blablaba" on device manager, and shows its model as Radeon HD7000 with a caution sign..

I also searched the problem on the net a lot, but could not find anything, neither from HP support pages. Tried to install old but main driver from Win 7, it worked, but still had problems while switching, the game and videos didnt work well, also laptop heated itself a lot. Between all of these steps and the others, used Driver Fusion to clean/erase package remains, and restarted at each step.

Does any of you has a solution for that HD 6470M on Windows 8? Any idea/suggestions about it? All comments are welcomed!

Thanks

Hi, I recently got new "gaming" laptop - HP Pavilion 15-bc200nc. Having issues with GPUs - mostly when my external monitor is plugged in via HDMI cable ( most of the time I am using external monitor). The most annoying for me is that I can`t fullscreen videos in windows 10 when I`am working on my external monitor.  I can do full screen only when I lower the resolution on my external from 1920 x 1080 to 1768 x 992. Then sometimes when I am running a program or game and try to watch videos the video freezes. Device manager is showing that my external monitor is using only NVIDIA GPU and my original laptop display is using Intel - I feel like GPUs are somehow glitching between each other. My external monitor - asus vx228h Did a lot of research about it all over the internet and couldn`t find the solution. Installed new drivers for both NVIDIA and Intel, downgraded drivers.Tried to downgrade to win7 with no success due to no drivers for OS win7 ( very dissapointing btw but thats another of my forum posts  - http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/HP-Pavilion-Gaming-15-bc200nc-do... ). Any suggestions how to solve this problem?  Is there a way to completely disable Intel GPU and let laptop using ONLY Nvidia on both original laptop display and external monitor? - I found here on forums that one guy managed to do it but didn`t provide the guide. Thank you!

You have to sometimes take what people say they do here with a grain of salt. No it is switchable graphics and you cannot completely disable the integrated Intel video. You might try a different HDMI cable if you have one.

Unfortunately, at this moment the R series doesn't offer a switchable graphics option between the integrated graphics chipset (Intel HD Graphics 3000) and the dedicated ATI 6450M.

Myself I have a R850-10V model with an i5-2410M and there is no option in BIOS for such a selection, which would help a lot to increase the battery life by using only the integrated graphics for example.
Could we see in the future a bios upgrade which would enable this integrated graphics?

It's a shame because all the other important producers (HP, Lenovo, Acer) which use ATI 6450/6470/6490M solution for integrated graphics, updated their bios in order to allow a switchable graphics option.

Thank you.

Very good question but on the wrong place. This is user-to-user forum and you will not get some official statement here.

Let?s see if Toshiba will change anything and maybe offer some BIOS update.

A:Switchable Graphics Not working

I had success as follows - you may want to give this a try:

Make sure you have the latest drivers for both graphics cards installed - Windows Update should take care of that.Check for the ccc2_install.exe object on your system - I found it at location c:\Programs Files\AMD\CCC2\Install\ccc2_install.exe (dated 13/12/2013 so looked original)Run that ccc2_install.exe and it will install and place an icon on the task bar (or on the desktop) which will allow the Switchable Graphics feature to be configured for running. Typically you can set programs or functions to run on low power graphics (those on-board) or the high power discrete graphics card ie. AMD Radeon HD 7600M Series card.

You can configure these settings as preferred or leave the default settings as they are and I believe it manages the switching process itself.

Please report back on the results so others can benefit - good luck.

Ok, so I have an HP ENVY dv6z-7200 Notebook PC that came with Windows 8 already installed. I've done A LOT of digging and came to the solution that I need to switch things around in the bios. I need to switch from Dynamic mode to Fixed mode, but there is no option in the new W8 EUFI thing, or whatever it's called... to switch dyamic or fixed. This is VERY frustrating because i'm trying to play games like Minecraft, and I'm getting horrible FPS when I should be getting good FPS. Here are my specs...

HP ENVY dv6 Notebook PC
A8-4500m APU with Radeon HD Graphics (4 CPUs) ~1.9GHz
Windows 8 64-bit (6.2, Build 9200)
AMD Radeon HD 7640G + 7670m Dual Graphics
Chip type says AMD Radeon HD 7640G.... which is the weaker card... I want the 7670m to work over that so I get better performace.
BIOS version: F.13

I'm not sure if i can downgrade my BIOS from Windows 8, since it's a whole different setup. Can anyone help? I'll give more info if requested.

EDIT: I've seen tons of solutions for Intel + AMD graphics, but I have AMD + AMD.

A:Switchable Graphics Not Working...? [AMD + AMD] HELP!

Don't bother trying to change things with your uefi or bios you won't be able to. You have the new muxless design and there isn't a fixed mode for that. I suggest getting the latest amd drivers from AMD not from HP. Once you have them installed just use the Catalyst control center to set which graphics card you want to use for whichever program. For more information on switchable graphics Anandtech has some pretty good articles here:
AnandTech - AMD
AnandTech - AMD
AnandTech - AMD

How do I know all this? I also have a 7670m switchable only w/ intel integrated graphics on a Acer lappy. It was a super pain for me because of the intel version needing to be signed by amd; but the amd version of intel graphics were lower than the base version intel graphics in Win 8 which turned out to be a nightmare. Long story short, I am now running Amd drivers version 12.11.

Anyway good luck.

Hi, Did you upgrade/downgrade your machine ? Please try AMD/Intel Switchable Graphics Driver:     http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp75501-76000/sp75504.exe This package provides the AMD/Intel Switchable High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. For notebooks with switchable graphics modes, this package includes drivers for both graphics processing units (GPUs). Switchable graphics enable users to switch between a power-saving graphics mode (normally used under battery power) and a high-performance graphics mode. Regards.

Hello, I've been having issues regarding switchable graphics. It wont use Radeon 6700m on the game named Blade and Soul. No matter what i do, which option i choose, it will still be using Intel hd 4000.

I know this because A) it wont even find/show the game on Switchable Graphics Application Monitor. B) My Radeon wont have any activity shown on AMD System Monitor.

I cant set Switchable Graphics to be static on BIOS because there is no option there. I dont think i had any problem with the card as it could even run Mortal Kombat X  and provide same fps as this game which is like 6 years old and with much lower system req.

A:Switchable Graphics not working properly.

Tanri Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!I read your post about your display problem and wanted to help. You say you're running Win10 but according to the HP Support page for your PC, it did not come with Win10 preinstalled.  So, in that case, you must have done the Win10 Upgrade, right? The Win10 Upgrade tool does a poor job of detecting PCs with multiple graphics chipsets (like yours) and, as a result, is unable to install the proper drivers for those chipsets to work.Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the problem you're up against is that Microsoft only supplies drivers with the most basic functionality, and what you really need for FULL functionality in laptops is the specialized drivers written for the specific hardware found in laptops. However, you could consider using HP Win8.1 drivers -- although there's no guarantee that those drivers will work.  Here's the link to the HP Product drivers and software page for Win8.1 for your PC:  http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-g6-Notebook-PC-series/5262606/model/5283... If that page does not show Win8.1 when you open it, then click CHANGE and select Windows 8.1 using the pulldowns. Also, since you're going to be installing AMD drivers, then run their clean utility BEFORE you attempt to reinstall the HP drivers:  AMD Clean Uninstall UtilityGood LuckI am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.===================================... A:Drivers for Insipron 15R with Switchable graphics. WORKING ONES!!!! WHEN ARE THEY OUT!?!

Hi Alun18,
Inspiron 15R which with AMD Radeon HD 7670M graphics card supports dynamic switchable graphic function.
Under the dynamic mode, the user does not directly control which graphics device is active. There under graphics device is determined by application profile settings and the default rule.• Displays are always exposed to the OS through integrated graphics. This is the reason it will always show as Intel Graphics card is in use. It is designed that way.  All graphic intensive processes are done by the AMD Radeon HD 7670M graphics card and passed on to the application through the Intel HD Graphics.• Aero desktop always runs on integrated graphics.• 3D, OpenGL, and video-playback applications run on the fGPU/iGPU or dGPU depending on the application profile.• If an application does not have a profile, the application runs on the default rendering GPU.• The end-user can edit application profiles.
Please revert to this post for further assitance.

Nevermind, turns out my dGPU was somehow disabled in Device Manager. Though if this occurs again and it's not disabled in device manager I'll refer back to this thread for helpProblem came back (previously I thought it was stuck on the iGPU, but just a problem with Device Manager)

My laptop is set up with switchable graphics, between the iGPU (Intel HD 3000) and the dGPU (AMD Radeon HD 6770M)

In my BIOS, I have set the mode to Fixed (In dynamic or switchable (I don't remember exactly what it's called), the graphics cards change seamlessly, in fixed mode, the display shuts down while the cards switch)

In Catalyst Control Center I have the graphics set to change based on whether my laptop is plugged in (on battery, iGPU is selected, on AC power, dGPU is selected)

Usually, everything works as it should. If I start up my laptop plugged in, the dGPU is selected. If I start it up on just the battery, the iGPU is selected, but if I plug in the AC adapter, it prompts to switch to the dGPU, or I can use CCC to select whichever GPU I want at anytime.

Lately though, it seems to be stuck on the dGPU. When I boot up on battery power it defaults to the dGPU, and I'm unable to switch over to the iGPU through CCC. This has happened in the past, but has been "resolved" with a driver update/re-install for the dGPU. Or of course an OS re-install.

I haven't installed any new software recently, but with my dual-boot between Windows and Ubuntu the Windows MBR inexplicably got scr... Read more

Hi Forum,
Does anyone else have problems getting switchable graphics to work when a laptop is docked?
Is there a solution to this problem, or some way to force the use of the Nvidia GPU when on power and/or docked?
FYI;
I have a Inspiron 15 7537 with the Nvidia GeForce GT 750M, Windows 10 Pro, which I use in conjunction with the Dell D3000 Dock. I've have all the latest Intel Graphics, Nvidia and DisplayLink drivers loaded, I have updated or re-installed these in recent days.
When attached to the Dock the Nvidia GPU status remains "Inactive" based on the Nvidia GPU Activity tray icon, regardless of what applications launch. Applications that require accelerated graphics like AutoCAD Fusion report they are using the incompatible Intel GPU.
When disconnected from the Dock applications requiring accelerated graphics, like AutoCAD Fusion, make use of the Nvidia GPU when launched and the status changes to "Active". AutoCAD Fusion reports it is using the Nvidia GPU.
Given the switchable graphics work when off the dock I assume I have the Nvidia Control Panel configured correctly.

Hi, I have a DELL Inspiron 5520 with 2 Graphics Cards:

ATI Radeon 7670M & Intel HD 4000

I've installed the drivers required and unfortunately the switchable graphics section in "Catalyst Control Manager" doesn't have an option to manually change the graphics card. It has the option to choose what graphics card a program should use, but that never works. I know that if I find a modded BIOS like in this thread:

I just reformatted a Samsung laptop and am trying to get it all loaded and patched back up again. The laptop has a AMD Radeon HD 7400M graphics adapter. So after getting it up and running (at a low resolution obviously), I downloaded and installed the latest AMD graphics driver w/ the Catalyst Control Center thingy. Now the display is at the native 1600x900, but Device Manager shows both the AMD graphics adapter and Intel HD Graphics 3000 adapter.

Why are there two listed? I tried removing the Intel adapter earlier and the display went all wonky back to the previous 1024x768 resolution.

I'm the type of computer user who likes to get rid of stuff that's not needed. So are both graphics adapters really needed?

A:Why do I need Intel HD 3000 graphics with AMD Radeon HD?

The two graphics systems are needed to support the hybrid system used on many of today's laptops, the Intel is used for general low graphics intensive applications and the AMD is used for certain higher requirements such as games. The purpose of the dual system is to conserve power when possible and only use the power for the HQ graphics when it is actually needed

Hello,

I have been searching on the internet about this issue I'm currently battling. I have have found similar issues but not exactly what I am going through.

I am hoping you experts can help me. Here it goes...

I have a Lenovo G50-80 laptop, which is less than a month old. It came with Windows 8.1 and had a free upgrade to Windows 10. It ran fantastically except I still preferred Windows 7 - I did a clean install.

The problem is my graphics card. When I had Windows 10, in the dxdiag page I had the following tabs:System
Display
Render
Sound
Input

Basically on the Display tab, the Intel HD Graphics 5500 is displayed and on the Render tab, I had the AMD Radeon HD 8500M.

Now that I downgraded to Windows 7 (installed all updates including SP1), the Render tab is no longer there.

I have checked the device manager and saw both cards listed and active with no errors.

I did the following:Updated Drivers for both Intel and AMD graphics
Uninstalled all graphic drivers and reinstalled Intel first then AMD
Changed the settings on the AMD graphics controller to Maximum Performance on the game I am playing

I do not know what I am missing here.

I am really looking forward to a solution.

Thank you in advance, gentlemen!
