Lenovo Yoga 910 wifi adaptor issues

Q: Lenovo Yoga 910 wifi adaptor issues

Hi, I bought a brand new Lenovo Yoga 910 series laptop, costing a fortune. Its not even 20 days since I bought this laptop, I am seeing the wifi adaptor losing the connection within 5 mins of usage. Whats worse, it causing my wifi router to jam as well, and all of my other devices loses connection. I have few other devices, including a lenovo thinkpad, where i never faced any issues till date. After some research I found out that the wifi adaptor in the lenovo yoga is Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4a and it has lots of issues on Windows 10 and people are complaining on multiple forums about it since couple of years. Suprising that Lenovo nor Microsoft nor Qualcomm has not fixed it yet or I couldnt find a proper solution till now. It is such a bad customer experience, that such a basic thing like wifi connectivity is not working properly on such a high end laptop. I feel I just made a bad decision of buying this waste device instead of a Mac book Pro. Hope someone from Lenovo fixes this for me or else I shall return this device.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, so i got a problem. I got 2. wifi netwrok at home. Both working fine on other devices. But on yoga 910 is like this. I am conected to network 1 (n1) and when i tried to switch to network 2 (n2) i got yellow triangle and no internet connection and vice versa so yellow triangle when try to connect from N2 to N1. Only way to get it work is to disabel wifi adapter under device manager (and right after enable again)and then right click on wifi icon and do troubleshoot wifi.. I got this problem since i set up the second wifi network but since there is no problem on other devices i assume that  is someting worng with my pc.

Hi all. Nice to meet you. I have a Lenovo Yoga 720 and am noticing two issues.  First, whenever I am on Wifi, my connection will occasionally drop and restart. It is becoming a challenge especially during Skype calls and even simple tasks like browsing. My wifi appears to be OK because I have another PC and Mac that does not have any connectivity issues. Is there something I can do investigate and solve this issues? Moreover, I have connected my Microsoft Sculpt Mouse which had worked great on another PC's. While I can connect it with my Yoga, the connection frequently drops and takes a couple of seconds to re-establish itself. If anything, these issues have become a pain. Any suggestions/ideas on how to rectify the situation would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,  I?ve had my laptop for about 2 nearly 3 years now. About two days ago it stopped working for some reason. When I looked into it the WiFi adaptor (Intel Core i3) was for some reason disabled and despite having admin access, it would not  enable it successfully, even when I tried it just remained disabled and trouble shooter just states there is an issue with the WiFi adaptor and it cannot solve it.i have so far tried the network connections, troubleshooter and the device manager but both are not working. Is there a relatively simple solution that I?ve overlooked? I can remember it doing this before but I can?t remember how to turn it back on.

Recently there was a Wifi Driver issue, which got resolved when the service guy came and replaced it, 6-8 weeks ago. After that my Wifi works fine but has a bit of a performance issue - It takes some time to identify Wifi Networks. If I switch on my bluetooth, the wifi performance degrades more, i.e. more time to identify network and the speeds of download/upload deteriorates a lot (A video in Youtube 720p quality is brought down to 144p).In addition it seems to take a lot of time for my bluetooth to identify a device. Does the Wifi and Bluetooth share the antennas? If so does this mean the antenna have a problem now?Is there a way to troubleshoot this? maybe by checking speed on Wifi and bluetooth.

Hi

I odn't have that model, but just in case what you can always try is to get the latest wireless driver, sometimes I have some issues with some older wifi drivers.

Check the support site and see if there is a newer driver for the wifi. Check your "WIndows Device Manager" and see the version of the driver you have installed for the wireless adapter.

I also like to test the wifi with different routers on some other networks just be sure that is not a local problem of my router too.

It is also good the check the maintenance manual of your model to see the cables and the antennas. I'm not sure if that is exactly your model, but it seems it was two antennas for the WAN network and 2 for the LAN. It does not specify anything about the bluetooth.

Regards

Here is my situation (read carefully): I never had wifi problems with my 1st gen Lenovo Yoga running Windows 8 64-bit. Always super fast wifi and 5 bars on the icon. One morning, I couldn't connect to my home wifi (unidentified network), but I had no problem on my Android phone. I called my Internet provider and they "separated" the 2.4GHz channel (made for further distances, but slower) and the 5GHz channel (for shorter distances, faster). From then on, I could see the 2.4GHz on my laptop, but not connect to it and I couldn't see the 5GHz.On my phone, I could see both. As I obviously suspected a problem with the Realtek RTL8723A network adapter on my laptop, I reinstalled the driver, which partly solved the problem, as I can now surf the Internet on the 2.4GHz, but still can't see the 5GHz.Plus, I only have 1 bar on the icon, even though I'm 2m from the router. Is there anything I could do to see both channels, just like on my phone, and be able to use the faster 5GHz channel? Thanks

Hi Guys, I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 laptop. This is the second time I have had issues with the WiFi dropping out frequently.  The first time was when I first downloaded windows 10 - I downloaded a new driver from the Lenovo website and everything worked perfectly.  The last couple of months it has been playing up again. My phone and any other devices will be connected to the internet however my laptop will repeatedly disconnect from the internet, this happens a ridiculous amount of times everyday - and it's not just my home wifi! Im currently at my university library and it does the same thing. It just drops out randomly and says "not connected - no connects are available" I have to keep restarting my laptop for it to reconnect to the internet (I know that's probably not the best thing to do but it's the only thing that sometimes works). I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver software, I've scanned for hardware changes and nothing comes up?? Has anyone got any ideas on anything else I could try?  Thank you all!

Hello, The WiFi adapter is the Intel Dual Band wireless-ac 3160 and the drivers are from October 2017, the Device Manager is showing the network card as working without issues and nothing is reporting any problems, yet I am unable to simply turn the WiFi ON. The operating system is Windows 10 and I have tried the following: - enabling the WiFi interface using the command prompt (says it is already enabled)- trying older drivers for the Intel Dual Band wireless-ac 3160 (still will not turn ON)- opening the laptop and disconnecting the two wires from the WiFi module, then reconnecting (still no difference)- disabling and then re-enabling the Wireless in BIOS (no difference)- loading default settings in BIOS (no difference)- installing Windows 8.1 from scratch (same problem)- re-installing Windows 10 (same problem)- installed all of the Lenovo utilities and Companions I could find (still nothing)- windows troubleshooting simply tells me to switch the WiFi ON using either a hardware switch (which does not exist on this notebook) or the software switch using the keyboard - I press the F7 for airplane mode and it says that it goes into that mode, then pressed again and it simply goes back to WiFi which is turned OFF and showing the red X What is interesting is that when I booted TAILS from a USB drive the WiFi worked without issues, so this is obviously a software problem. Any suggestions?

Hello, Recently my CEO had bought a Lenovo Yoga 910-13IKB. It came with win10 preinstalled. I had worked on it for about 10 minutes and than the problem showed up: our local WiFi network dissapeared. I immediatelly took my laptop and searched for WiFi networks but no there was no my SSID at all. Then I had restarted WiFi router and network showed Up, but as soon Yoga connected, same again no network. I googled for solution and I did uninstall EMC and Lenovo Utility but that did not resolved the problem. Then I had tried to uninstall all drivers and than download and install them again but still the problem is there. Wherever Yoga connects WiFi dies. I found that some routers recognize something like DDos attack and so I dissabled that option on routers but again problem is there. Please can u give me solution to this problem because my CEO thinks that I am not capable of doing my Job (IT technician/Network administrator). Best wishes Adis

Hi, welcome to the forums.

Can you please post the full model number of your Thinkpad Yoga 14?
Are you using Windows 10?

I may suggest you first to try to update the Wifi drivers and maybe some other of the system driver of you Yoga.
Here are my general tips:

1) Try first Windows Update and update all the drivers and Patches
2) Try Lenovo System Update to get any new/missing drivers.
3) Try to install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows App Store, Lenovo Companion also has a "update driver search"
4) Sometimes all that software does not recognize some updated / missing driver. Check Lenovo's Support Site and search for your specific model drivers (use the full model number of your Thinkpad).

After that we can try a little bit more. For example I also like to test it on some other Wifi networks just to be sure it is not a compatibility issue with the Wifi Router.

HI all, I had bought Lenovo Yoga 3 tablet (2 GB RAM) 16 GB 8 inch) in Dec-2016 in Bangalore INDIA. Model Number:  LENOVO YT3-850M. Andriod Marshmellow - 6.0.1 There is a problem with WIFI. It keeps dropping regularly even though tablet is within a feet distance from the WIFI router. In the WIFI menu the router name comes but if i select nothing happens and you can see that the tablet is not connected to any WIFI. The only way to temporarly solve the issue is to restart the tablet but that too lasts maybe 1 hr before the WIFI connection goes away. I saw in another thread of this community where it was suggested to do factory reset. I have done that too but the issue still exists. I have another PC and 2 mobiles which connects to the same router. So there is no problem with the router  Any suggestions how to fix?  Thanks.

No other devices in the house have this problem and the network is always still active. I get two messages and not sure why I get one and not the other. The messages basically say either network not available (but it is) or that something has changes and it asks for the network password but then wont connect either. My network adapter is Realtek RTL8723AU. I have made sure all drivers are up to date, tried changing power saving options so they dont turn off adapter.  Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

MY yoga 900 arrived yesterday and I haven't been able to connect to WFI for more then few minutes before experiencing heavy drop outs. Not only that, but it is  interfering with all other devices connected to the same wifi and I loose signal on all devices(MY phone and my wife laptop). The only way to get back the connection on those devices is to power down  the yoga completely. It is the first time I experience this kind of interference. I suspected the problem was a compatibility issue between my router and the yoga. Hey, So I bought the new 700 yoga with the core i7 this past week. I had some issues with the wifi and have been scouring the internet and can not find a fix for the incredibly slow wifi. My internet is fios with 40 up and down and can get that speed on my lenovo thinkpad, y series laptop, and cell phone. But this the only laptop that has windows 10 installed and when i run either speedtest.net or the internet health test this laptop will not get anything close to that. I have installed all the windows update and disabled the peer to peer update and every information sharing option in the settings. The speeds i can get in the first minute of turning on the laptop is 8 down and 20ish up. After one or two minutes the down and upload speeds drop to 0.1mbps down and up and it will time out the internet constantly. Anyone else having issues like this? I called the tech support line and since I am getting some wifi connection the support service said it is not a hardware issue and is a software issue but for the support i would have to pay to on a laptop i had less than a week.Any help would be great.

recently i was having major computer issues on my desktop, i did a full restore to factory settings and after doing a few windows updates i found that my network adaptor was not finding any signals. it does not show up in the change adaptor settings page or in the device manager page. when i troubleshoot my internet connection it says an ethernet cable is not properly plugged in. I have a desktop computer but it definately has a wireless network card. i used to get windows updates for it and it just stopped working one day. when i look in the BIOS the only option related to booting a network card is B03 D00 Yukon PXE. no matter when i boot it i still dont get wireless signals. when i go into the boot menu and try to boot this device it says " PXE E61: media test failure please check cable" i have opened the tower and the card is securely in its slot. i thought i would workaround by getting a usb wifi card. I installed it and connected to the internet and it alternated between having a connection to the internet and being connected to the network but not the internet. even when it is connected to the internet i cannot reach any web pages. my dropbox desktop files update very slowly (7kb/s). when i am connected with the usb card the network stops working for everyone else in the house. they can no longer reach web pages or continue downloads. please help.

I just got my Yoga 2, and I am really enjoying it, however, I am running into a contant problem of the WiFi connection going 'limited' when connected to the network.  I never lose WiFi connection. I have updated my driver to the latest version available on the support site (17.0.0.34), and disabled the power managment for the WiFi, as many other posts have suggested. None of my other devices are having issues.  My router is an Apple Time Capsule.

Try to: Enter BIOS > disable DPTF > save and exit If that does not work, join us in the following discussion: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Windows-based-Tablets-and/Re-Yoga-2-Pro-Wifi-Problems/td-p/1452437

If I go just one room away from my router I lose connection.  I have went to device manager in win10 and unchecked where it says to allow windows to manage power to it, but still no luck.   Getting a little depressed by this as I have read many posts where users just could not resolve this problem on my pc.  Any thoughts? I have also updated to the latest wifi driver from the lenovo site.

Hi,So its difficult for me to pin down the problem here but I know that its not my Wi-Fi as i've had this issue at college and at various homes, cafes. I'll be browsing the internet when suddenly my thinkpad will disconnnect from the internet. Note, usually it will say that it is connected to the router but it isn't getting any connection. I will use another device at the same time that experiences no issues. When using Skype I lose calls frequently. It's dissapointing considering I dropped 1 grand on this laptop only to use my 100 dollar smartphone in many situations. Thoughts?

Hi jreder007 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

To start with I would suggest you try to check on the wifi adapter properties .

On Device manager , choose the wifi card and right click for Properties , Power management to uncheck on Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power .
Advance tab would also show Roaming tendency / aggressiveness that you can move to highest.
See if that would would , else you may proceed with uninstall and reinstallling your WIFI driver downloadable from the support site .
Update us how it works for you .

Regards

What is the deal with this??? It happens when writing in powerpoint and on a whiteboard in a browser. It happens with both my digitizer pen and an external wacom tablet pen. No calibration or driver updates have helped.

Hi,My latest issue with Yoga 720 15" GTX, i7, 16gb that I can't resolve is the lost network adapter. As I was playing with photoshop blue screen popped out with some barcode and by the time I get to take a picture and the laptop shut down.I downloaded network drivers from the website, and tried them both because I didn't know which one si for my laptop, and then tried system restore, but it still didn't fix the problem. When I ran Lenovo's system diagnostics it states all the hardware is fine. Here is why I will never gonna buy LENOVO again.First with my purchase last Friday i tried to apply Gropon coupon for discount, but nothing happened, so I paid the full price. Then I expected it to be shipped on Saturday, but they shipped it on Monday.Once I received it I found the pen is not working properly and even when I try to use heavy hand sometimes it just does not work.Sometimes touchpad scroll does not work.Another think is that the screen flicker with mozilla, and with chrome is even worst and it is showing black screen sometimes.I did all the updates, I haven't changed any settings and this is it! Good think I have another HP Lapotop to keep me working.  All that happend in about two days since I have it, I don't really know what to expect next if I don't get to return it.

Hi everyone. I want to ask it clearly. I just bought lenovo yoga 520 and the first issue that I found is when on the startup screen and Cortana talk. When I want to reply there is no respond. I already check if the issue is on my Mic driver but I just can see that it is 'Microphone Array' which i do not understand if it need external mic or not. I tried update windows and driver, but nothing change. Is Lenovo Yoga 520 come in with internal mic ? and if it has internak mic, can someone help on driver issue or is it a hardware problem ?

I have the Yoga 910 which had horrible wifi issues using the installed Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4a chip.  This would constantly cause the network to stay connected online but allow no data to pass.  When it did, speeds will contantly drop to less than 1mb per second.  Things will work find during a restart, but come across soon afterwards and will always appear when coming from sleep.  I hated the laptop...until i went on Ebay and bought an Intel 7260NGW dual Wif/bluetooth Chip for $8.  Now this works perfect.  The wifi never drops and is always running at high speeds. Hopefully this helps others.

Hi guys,I bought new laptop - Lenovo yoga 510-14AST. I am a student and that's why I bought laptop with touchscreen. I also wanted to have a battery that handles about 6 hours of writing or surfing through the internet. They said that battery should last for 8,5 hours. But that's not my case. My battery runs only 2 hours, so I need to charge it a lot. Could you help me? Should I make a factory reset? I also tried to update all drivers. No change.Every idea is appreciated.Thank you for your timeBest wishes
