I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

I have become one of the many with a PC infected by 2 fake security scams (Cyber Protection Center and Cyber Security). I purchased Spyware Doctor recently, thinking that this would get rid of it, since the free scan did identify them, or so I thought, but it has failed. Can someone possibly advise me on how to get rid of them please? My computer has slowed down a lot, and the constant pop-up messages are really annoying.

I have a HJT log file, below.

Many thanks in advance.

I am playing UT2004 on a mutated server on a regular basis. It is not my server, we play with a mutated rifle and a transponder. I am having issues with when I am using the transponder in rapid succession it will switch back to the rifle. The speed which I transpond seems to make a difference, the faster I operate the quicker it will switch to the rifle. This is a new issue and have had no problems in the past with extremely rapid transponding repeatedly. I have replaced my mouse, new mouse driver, deleted game cache, lowered mouse sensitivity game settings as well as puter mouse settings, cleaned the graphics card and heat sink. I need some help with this one, any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know is going on with this game demo, but for some reason my textures in the game fail to display properly, the only way I could explain it is to show a screen shot.

But for some reason the damn game doesn't have an SS Function. )

Basically the textures work fine during the cutscene, frame rate is superb. Then it goes to the actual gave and the textures star fading away till its all black, again the framerate is fine. The game is still functioning, because I'm still being plugged by enemies Anyone have a clue what is going on?

Help!

I have problem running Lucas arts’ “Secret Weapons over Normandy” on my Win XP computer. SWoN needs DirectX 9.0b. I’ve got 9.0c.

When trying to start the game I get the message:

“This game needs to update your DirectX installation before you can proceed! Do you want to perform the update now?”

Then I press YES and get the message:

“Congratulations! DirectX is now properly installed on your system.”

I press OK. Then nothing happens. When I restart the program I just get the same message again: “This game needs to update your DirectX installation…”

What to do?

A:Problems with DirectX in Secret Weapons over Normandy

Dan

I used to play SWON on my windows XP computer with no problems. Since I have installed SP2 I have tried to install SWON 4 times and continue to experience the same problems as you. I know I have DX 9.0 installed and pass the 3D hardware tests in DXdiag, but still analyze your computer tells me I do not have DX9.0 and that I have no 3D hardware installed! I have updated my video card drivers as well.

Have you had any luck getting this working that you can share with me?

Hello everyone! Only recently have I started reading up on malware/trojans. I have downloaded the ff programs: HijackThis, AdAware with the plug-in, SpyBot, SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard and SpamIt. Please enlighten me as to whether I am using them correctly. Is there anything I need to do before running the programs? I know I have to close all windows before I start. I read somewhere I have to disable system restore. Is this really necessary? If so how do I do this and when everything's done how do i undo it?

This is how I do it: In normal mode (should I be doing this in safe mode?), I start with AdAware cleaning up whatever needs to be cleaned then proceed with SpyBot. Teatimer is installed with my SpyBot, is this causing conflict with AdAware? How do I circumvent this? When both programs have fixed everything, I use hijackthis, save my log, and send it to people like you guys I already downloaded the guide on analyzing HJT logs but I still alck the confidence and knowledge to do it myself. In time maybe.

Concerning SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard, won't there be any problems if I have both in my system? Do I need both or should I just use 1? If so, which do you recommend?

Too many questions I know. I hope you guys can help me

Hi there there,
I see someone had a solution for this. I hope this works for you!
"I stumbled on a solution for the mouse inversion problem in wanted wof.
As you know there is no option for inverting the vertical axis when playing with keyboard+mouse.

Drawback : you actually need a game pad to make this work.

1.plug in your game pad, start the game
2.Choose to use the pad when it asks and...
3. ... go to options/controller menu. Magically an inversion option for each axis is added. Make your changes and apply them.
4. Exit and restart the game, choosing this time the keyboard as control method. (You don't need to unplug the pad.)
5. Mouse look/aim should be inverted now.

My pad is a logitec rumblepad2 usb. Haven't tested it in other PCs."

cheers!

I installed it correctly (from the cd), but when i want to play it says: please insert correct cd?

I never changed cd. If i start my normal bf42 i can select SW in the custom menu, but then i get the same error: please insert correct cd? I have 2 cd drives one for bf1942 cd 1 or 2 and in the onther one is SW.

I have all three games, and I am trying to play the new one The Secert Weapons of WW 2 Maps. That is the one giving me the errors. I have also completely removed BF 1942 from the PC, and installed all three games, and it still gives me that error everytime.

I was looking forward to reviewing this game today, but the game keeps giving me errors. It keeps stateing that I need to insert the correct CD into the drive, when it is already in there. have tried two different CDs of BF 1942 SWofWWII, and still getting the error.

No matter what I do, nothing works. You might want to hold off of buying this til they fix it.

Here you can find out some information about all the weapons and enemies in Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason.

Weapons:

Light Green = Combat ineffective
Green = Weak
Yellow = Decent
Orange = Good
Red = Very effective

1. Fists: You only get bare fists in flashbacks, and it is impossible to kill the only enemies with your bare fists. Your swings do however drive off the enemies.

2. Fists w/ Lock & Chain: Early in the game you pick up a lock/chain on a door, and you begin to use them as your only weapon wrapped around your right fist. You can kill early enemies with it, but then they become rather useless on later enemis.

3. Fists w/ Valve: A little later into the game, you find a loose valve in a pipe. This becomes your second weapon. It is virtually the same as the weapon above but slightly stronger.

4. Fire Axe: After saving a man in a flashback, you are rewarded with the fire axe you picked up in the past. This is a useful tool that you should continue to use throughout the whole game. It is powerful, and if you are fighting vicious enemies, shoot them with your gun(s) first and when they get close, whip out this fire axe and finish them off.

5. Flare Gun: The flare gun fires flares (surprise?) that bounce off whatever inanimate object you shoot at. It sticks to enemies and seems to make them more vulnerable to your attacks (since they hate heat). Sadly you can't use this as a portable internal heat source. You find this in a locker right before you fight the f... Read more

A few days ago my laptop received a file which I promptly deleted. Since then, though, it has had the fake "malware defense" program on it. The one that throws up 3 -4 pop ups with fake warning errors to try and make you buy their program.

I have run Avast Home every day since then. It comes up with new files each time, but can only delete 1 out of each batch it comes up with. The rest all get errors. I have tried to run Malware Bytes in both regular and Safe Mode, and it will not even open. Niether will TDS Killer or even my Disk Defragment.

I found one of the rogue files within my startup file in msconfig and got rid of it. Now the pop ups have stopped, but nothing will run correctly and I still get constantly re-directed while I try to surf in Firefox. Not sure what else I can do!

Hi,
Install windows 10 and confirm activation as suggested in forums. Downloaded Windows Media Creation Tool to create fresh reinstall. Ran it to create 64 bit ISO. Now using the ISO to reinstall windows 10. At 30% restore, it failed. I tried various recovery. Even did chkdsk on drive c with /r and also with /f. Same problem again - failure at about 30% restore.

Reading in forums, I discover Refresh Windows Tool(exe). Downloaded and ran it (tool) to download Windows 10.
What I dislike. No Pause or ability to use a download manager. When this download of about 3gb is done, where is it saved? How to use? Yea, automatic for I still have prior install files (programs, data folders, etc) which means nothing was done. Did restart hoping for a fresh reinstall - no changes. Thus I am posting in this forum with paragraph 1 (media tool) and Refresh tool (paragraph 2).

Went into BIOS startup and told it to use DVD (boot order priority), but instead window normal login was done and given. Thus, use window recovery within to execute the ISO.

I have a problem. I installed an internet filetering program called cyber patrol on my computer. However, whenever I tried to open it, my computer froze...so I deleted it....but, now whenever I try to connect to the internet a message comes up that says cyber patrol has disabled the internet, then it says to open up cyber patrol and re enable it.....but I can't open it because it is gone....how do I get the internet to be not disabled anymore?

A:cyber patrol

I'd suggest reinstalling it then once you've installed it again go to "Add/Remove Programs" in Control Panel and uninstall it from there.
Sounds like you've deleted the folder it had been installed to but the entries its left behind in the registry and possibly other ini files have been left behind.
After reinstalling it you might want to try running it again to see if you cna get to the part where you enable the internet again.
You might want to try doing so in safe mode if you freeze again inside Windows.

If you can get that far then continue with the uninstall as mentioned.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

I have a friend's laptop that he asked me to help with and it is beyond my ability...i asked him to do a windows update last week as it was about a year out of date, he said whilst doing this an icon appeared to install this "cyber Securty" software - as a regular (not so competent) laptop user he installed this because it looked like regular windows sw.

It has since then about a week from install began to try and scan his HDD everyday, saying there are lots of Trojans etc...and these need removing. From that point his whole Internet was blocked as this was showing as a "trojan" through Cyber Security.

So far i have removed unceccessary files he did not want, booted into safe mode and proceeded to scan 3 times with Super antispyware. Unfortunately as you will know this has not removed the SW but seemed to have removed 45 trojans.

I have been advised that Combofix is a brilliant spyware removal tool, however after signing upto this forum and reading around, i need some help from the Gods?

Please could someone assist?
N.B.

This is an old laptop running XP Proffesional, SP2 with a 1.4 Pentium ®
As said from earlier i have to use my own PC to use the net etc as the laptop will not work, i am currently using a USB stick to transfer data.
There is at the moment no anti virus or firewalls (other than windows) runing, i have removed all of these and only booted in safe mode.
Thanks again

Matt

Hello, please post the MBAM log.The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.Next run ATF and SAS: if you have run this also, post this log too.Note.. Hello

I'm looking to buy a new budget PC.

I do not need a monitor.

Any suggestions?

Has any one had any dealings with Cyberpower PCs?
Cyberpower

Thanks

A:Cyber power pc

Never even heard of 'em. You can buy a good Dell for about $500 now, monitor not included.

It's cheap, powerful, and Dell is a very reputable company with generally good support.

And they're cases aren't all whacked out most of the time like Compaqs, and they actually supply you an OS CD, so you don't have to start fresh every time a file goes bad like you do with other restore-CD's...you can just pop in the OS CD and get the files you need or reinstall the OS.

Please download HijackThis . This program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Double-click on the file you just downloaded. Click on the "Unzip" button to install. It will by default install to the directory - C:\PROGRAM FILES\HIJACKTHIS\ Run a scan and save the log file. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless. Make sure to include the System information at the top of the log as well.
Post the complete Logfile here in this thread, and one of our analysts will take care of it as soon as possible.

Hi all,

I recently read in an article somewhere (in www), and if my memory is correct, it says something to this meaning, that every internet providers deploy some special software system whereby it monitors your web activities (like sites being visited, googling, etc.) and email transactions (searching for some special keywords in the body-text, subjects etc.). It seems many public sector communication companies (government owned/supported) or corporate companies who provide internet services, records your actions at their web-server.

1) How far this is true or is it just another internet-hoax or rumour?

2) Technically, is it possible for such providers to monitor so? Why because, logically, the cyberspace is so vast-and-wide and how can it be monitored, if they are providing, say, 5000+ connections?

3) I think in some way, maybe it is good to avoid unwanted elements using internet as a mean, but is it a form of cyber-harassing for good civilians when they are being monitored or overwatched constantly?

What do you think? Please share your opinions.

Thanks anyway,

Have a nice day,

Regards,
Vijay

i don't worry about it, take precautions when using the computer.

A:Cyber-x.log Malware. HELP!!!

Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
--------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Close any open browsers.

2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
...
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.

When finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.

**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

My computer has been slow, has crashed a few times, and has stalled on start up. I thought I would try a program to remove spyware. I installed Cyber Defender only to find out that I have probably added to my problem. I installed and ran both of the requested downloads. The DDS is included below. Have a system with cyber patrol. Don't know what the customer did, but I cannot find the executable files for it, and neither can the shortcuts. However, the program stills begins on startup, and will not allow access to the internet. The customer says they can read and check e-mails, but sites such as yahoo and etc. will not be displayed. Earlier this month, Spanish authorities and security researchers worked together to track down and capture three Spanish men behind the Mariposa botnet, a network of almost 13 million computers across 190 countries. The breaches discovered were far-reaching. The botnet compromised systems across several Fortune 1000 companies and 40 financial institutions. At the time of his arrest, one of the botnet operators possessed sensitive information about approximately 800,000 victims. The three men, authorities said, were no computer geniuses. "These people didn't have any advanced hacker skills," said Sean-Paul Correll, researcher at Panda Security, one of the firms involved in the investigations. "They just had resources available to them online and were able to take advantage of them to build this network."Click the authors name for the rest of the comprehensive article at SFGate by Alejandro Mart?nez-Cabrera, Chronicle Staff Writer Sunday, March 14, 2010One disturbing factoid leaps out at me: Correll said Panda Security identified 25 million pieces of malicious code last year - compared with 15 million samples detected in the previous 19 years. Sixty-six percent of last year's malware were data-stealing programs, most of which were produced with do-it-yourself hacking kits, he said.Bold is mine.

I notice that you have had 102 views but no replies to this thread yet Animal, which may have something to do with the fact that Amazing Andrew made a topic on the Mariposa botnet Spanish arrests in this same forum almost 2 weeks ago. Mariposa Botnet Arrests - Amazing Andrew's thread It is indeed worrying that more than half of last year's malware is reported to be primarily of the data stealing type.

It all started with an Internet search to determine market value for an antique pickup truck of mine. I vaguely recall an alert going off at one site, and I think I was suddenly bombarded with cookie requests, none of which I allowed. Since I have dealt with false alerts before (ex.: VirusBurst), I didn't pursue it at the time. About a week or so later I ran an AVG virus scan in which 4 viruses were detected, 2 of which (7UNQTONS) names included the year and make of my truck. The 2 others were (2NARM9MN) and something roughly called lsass.exe Trojan horse Dropper.Generic2.BPOB. All were "moved to virus vault", only I also got a pop-up upon further exploration, in the case of the last 2: "Object is inaccessible". I decided to locate them myself, using the addresses shown in Admin\Local Settings\ & Admin\Application Data\, only to find those designations no longer visible for me to access. I sensed that things weren't right. My Internet connection became prone to extreme sluggishness and freeze-ups, which could only be countered by manual shutdown. Lock-ups started occurring with regularity, especially when I tried to download the latest anti-virus updates. I decided to employ System Restore, but was not surprised to find that there were no restore points to go back to. I upgraded to IE8---didn't improve things. I cannot get AVG updates. Every time I try, it locks up the pc. The same Windows updates keep gett... Read more

Cyber Patrol suddenly appeared on our PC, popping up the message box periodically "Internet service has been disabled by Cyber Patrol...."

It doesn't actually disable the service, but the popup is annoying.
We never had an icon for Headquarters or anything.
I subsequently deleted all files I could find related to the program, yet the box still appears.

Thinking it may have come with a game or something downloaded by one of the kids, I deleted all games as well....to no avail.

Anybody know the best way to nuke this pest from a system entirely?

Thanks in advance.
