Yoga 920-13IKB, replacing Qualcomm Aetheros with Intel AC 8265 Wireless card or something better ?

Q: Yoga 920-13IKB, replacing Qualcomm Aetheros with Intel AC 8265 Wireless card or something better ?

Hi,Just bought a second one, which appeared to be more stable than the first one (much trouble with wifi, ethernet connections & bunch of other annoyances). The wifi connection could be erratic at times, but bearable.I wonder if the Qualcomm Aetheros could be replaced with Intel AC 8265 Wireless card or something better ? I thought of having seen it somewhere but now I could not find the info on this subject.Could anybody point me to the right direction ?Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,  Maybe this is a dumb question, but I couldn't find the answer... Lenovo X1 Yoga 2nd Gen's Intel AC 8265 should be able to work at 450 Mbps, but it only works at 300 Mbps.  Does it have only two antennas on the OLED model so it can't reach full speed, so to speak? Or is it related to something else?  Thanks!

If I helped you, please give me some kudos! ^^

I have just bought a Yoga 730-13IKB Laptop - Type 81CTIt comes with the Intel(r) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 wifi adapter. I do not manage to get it keeping connected to wifi. It disconnects constantly. I have my old notebook connected to the same access point without any problemI have updated Windows 10 to the newest version, and also the driver (from Intel, version 21.0.0.100, date: 11/3/2019) from Lenovo support center. Please help me solve the problem!

A:YOGA 730 with intel 8265 wifi adapter constatly disconnects!

Now be careful but you may want to try opening it up to see if the thing sits right in there. I looked into the 730 quite extensively online before my purchase and saw it mentioned somewhere that a lot of wifi problems may be due to shoddy installation. Mine has an Intel 9260 160MHz adapter and no drops so far.EDIT: BEFORE you do that check your battery settings. Right click on battery> power options>change plan settings>change advanced power settings>wireless adapter settings>power saving mode and fiddle with these settings. Could be Windows' power saving is disabling your wifi though I kind of doubt it. Mine is on maximum power saving and no drops yet.Could you tell if it shows the wifi signal dropping in the bottom right corner or can you tell it's dropping when you're downloading sth or gaming?

Hi, I am new to these forums so a big hello to everyone. I am looking for confirmation on compatibility with T440s (BIOS 2.44) and Intel AC 8265 Wireless card (FRU: 01AX704) Can anyone confirm in BIOS 2.44 (Latest) if the following card above has been added to the BIOS Whitelist? I would rather get some confirmed solid confirmation before I purchase. The Intel AC 7260 is not the greatest of cards and an upgrade would be nice. I don't see it feasible that Lenovo would have individual whitelists for individual ThinkPad series, I would say that it is likely they update all the whitelists as and when new cards come on to the market? Best Wishes Vince

Yesterday I received my 720s i7-8550u MX150 laptop and on first impressions I am impressed with the laptop (Although I have only used for a couple hours). However the wifi performance of the QCA9377 wifi card is very poor and I would like to swap out for an Intel 8265. I have however read about whitelisting - The fact that Lenovo lock down the bios so the machine only boots with certain hardware installed.  Coming from using Dell laptops this seems madness to me! I can get a 'Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265, 2230, 2x2 AC + BT, Vpro' wifi card from Amazon UK for 17.95 delivered but I wanted to check: 1) That I will be ok to swap the cards over and have the warranty maintained.  I'll keep the old card so I can replace if I need to send back for warranty reasons.2) That if I swap the wifi card over it will work ok with my laptop My part number is 81BD0044UK and I have looked at the manual at https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad720s-14ikb_hmm_201705.pdf which lists the following card in the parts list: Wirelesslan_WIFI, Intel 8265 2x2AC+BT PCIE M.2 WLAN NV, WIFI 2X2 AC+BT4.1 SW10K97453 Can anyone please help confirm that I am ok to swap the card over please? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Matt

When my Carbon 5th is connected to 5 GHz Wifi it randomly resets (drops) after several hours (connection is being lost, Windows reports "Cannot connect to the network"). Sometimes it is possible to connect again manually, sometimes only reboot makes it work again. Connection to 2.4 GHz Wifi always works totally fine. I've seen several similar topics on Intel forums with the same issue, looks like it touches several Intel WiFi adapters. No solution have been found except using only old 2.4 GHz protocols or external WiFi adaptors. I tried different drivers and many parameter sets on my router - nothing solves this issue. It is very sad to have only 20mbps with 2.4 GHz while new standards offer more than 100mbps. Did you face this issue? Any ideas to solve it out?

HiI'm experiencing video problems in the following machine:- Yoga 910-13IKB (BIOS:2JCN39WW)- Intel HD Graphics 620 diplay adapter.- Windows 10 . If I remove the Intel HD Graphics driver, I would have an stable GUI (not fast but stable) on Windows normal mode. Windows update will try to install the Intel HD 620 driver again and it will screw up the machine again.I had tried the following Intel HD Graphics 620 drivers with the same results:- Version 21.20.16.4550 - 11/11/2016- Version 23.20.16.4849- Version 23.20.26.4944 - 02/04/2018I also tried a Windows refresh and a full install of Windows 10 (Ver 1709 - 16299.309) with the same reults. There is a strange behaviour. If I connect a "Lenovo USB-C Travel Hub" that I have arround and connect a second monitor the system remains stable. If I unplug the hub the system freeze and the "squares" get back very fast.I run out of ideas on how to fix this video problem. Any idea/tip is welcome. Otherwise I think it is time to open a ticket. The adapter cannot keep a 2.4 GHZ connection and has trouble with wired and wireless at the same time and is missing all advanced settings allowing you to turn off 2.4, etc... I will return my laptop unless this is fixed. This is a fundemental issue with the chipset and design.1. The adapter has no advanced settings. It has been stripped of all the standard configurations.2. I have watched this driver from a monitoring computer standpoint and on 2.4 networks it loses connections all the time and sometimes will get into a connection loop when there is hard wire and wireless are on at the same time.3. When both adapters are enabled it does not work well at all.4. Signal strength / antenna performance is terrible. Side by side comparison with other devices shows bad performance. -50 vs -90 etc... a big swing in signal strength. There needs a new driver with ALL ADVANCED SETTINGS - for example prefer 5GHZ networks.no settings

Hi guys

Games that need T&L I can't play at present and I'm not sure if I need AGP or PCI card either.

Call of duty, Doom3 ete stuff like that would be nice to play.

System bought for me at an on-line auction so I can't complain too much. (I'm Poor!)

Would I have a problem replacing card in a desktop box with the on board card still in place?

But Bluetooth can't find any devices.
I have tried Intel driver 19.50.0.5 from Dell downloads and official Intel driver 20.0.0_64.

Any ideas?

You must actually connect (pair) bluetooth devices like bt headphones or other peripherals to get it to work. What BT devices do you have? The enumerators are not devices. See --

We have just purchased the XPS 13 over the past weekend.  The laptop was working great, until the creators update occured.e

once the update occured the WLAN auto-config service appears to crash during the association phase when the laptop is attempting to connect to an SSID.  It starts to connect, then the autoconfig config crashes and the laptop stops probing for beacons.  I am able to get Wi-FI to work with one of my USB Wi-FI cards.
I have had to roll back to windows 10 in-order to get the wifi card to work.  I have tried the latest drivers from intel and the Dell site and I have been unable to get the wifi-card to function.

A:XPS 13 2-in 1 (9365) intel 8265 no longer working after creator update

The Creator's Build did not bother my system.  Other than always having to set my system to a Private network after such an upgrade/update, it works normally.
Can we assume all of your Drivers/Bios updates are done?  If you want to give some info regarding your configuration, we can compare systems.
Windows 10 seems to have a built in driver for that Wi-Fi adapter.  The Dell driver should work better, so you might try to reinstall it, just in case or vice versa..

Hi All, I use a P50 (20HHCTO1WW, BIOS 1.17 dated 12/13/2017, FHD, i7-7700HQ, RAM 64GB, Boot disk: Samsung 850 EVO M.2 SATA 500GB, Work disk: Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe 1TB, Data disk: Seagate Firecuda SMR HDD ST2000LX001 2TB. I use this laptop for development of systems on top of virtual machines, stored on the NVMe SSD. These virtual machines are set to access network and internet through a virtual switch setup on top of the P50 WLAN interface. I would like to share regarding crashes I got after performing system update on Lenovo Vantage yesterday. After performing two updates (Intel Online Connect and Intel 8265 WLAN driver) on 1/16 6:09AM early morning, a BSoD occurred on 9:03AM. Upon checking the memory dump using windebugger, the issue was invalid memory read access initiated by vmswitch (Hyper-V Virtual adapter). Installed vmswitch.sys on my P50 is version 10.0.16299.192, time stamp 1/8/2018 5:32AM. Quite new. Upon checking for possible causes, I read on other forum regarding suggestion to disable VM queue on each network interface on all VMs. I changed these right away.  However, on 5:06PM same day, a second BSoD occured. This time the memory dump writing somehow failed, hence I lost the latest dump and also the previous dump (as it is overwritten by the last BSoD process). The bugcheck details from both crash occurences as registered on Event Log are similar thou. As disabling VMQ didn't solve the BSoD problem, I removed the Intel 8265... Read more

My wireless card on my gateway laptop isn't working anymore. I have already tried uninstalling/installing, resetting, and numerous other things. I am just going to replace it. I currently have a Intel 3945ABG network card. Is there another network card I can replace it with that is more efficient and quicker? Not sure what other information is needed to figure out what network cards are compatible. This is my first time posting so wasn't sure if this question should go in the hardware section.

Thanks in advance

I have upgraded the wifi card to the Intel-8265 recently for better 2x2 performance and bandwidth over the old 3165 which was just slow !

the instllation went fine and drivers were updated as far as i can tell by windows to latest drivers up to 2019 and i can see double the previous 3165 bandwidth which was only 433 Mbps, now i can see 866 Mbps, except throughput is actually the same or even worse ! i get maximum 20 MB/sec while having a really flacuating transfer speeds despite being close range to the router, i have another ASUS USB Adapter which shows is capable of up to 866 Mbps and it can easily do 30-40 MB/sec.

I read some other threads having the same issue and they recommended upgrading the BIOS so i did but that didnt help either, anyone help with that will be really appreciated for anyone who have attempted the same and actually got better throughput !...

I have a HP DV6000 Laptop. The wireless coverage is not very good and I was thinking of upgrading the Wireless card to something better. The current card is HP Pavilion DV9000 PCI-Express Wireless WIFI Card 802.11a/b/g 441075-001
by HP. Is it even possible to install another card in the laptop or does HP limit what you can put in this laptop. What cards would you recommend if this is possible. Thanks.

For an integrated wireless adapter I would recommend sticking with only those for which HP supplies drivers for your model laptop. You may find another one that works, but it will be trial and error.

Can you be more specific about "coverage not very good"?

A family member wants to run 32-bit Windows 10 on an X270 with an Intel 8265 Wireless card installed (I've installed 32-bit Windows on an M.2 SSD), but there seems to be no 32-bit driver for the card. I've tried installing the 32-bit Windows 7 driver in compatibility mode, but device manager still doesn't recognize it. Is there any way to get this card working with 32-bit Windows 10? Should I (1) just give up or (2) replace the card with something different? I don't know whether specific cards are white-listed in the X270. Thanks for any information.

Hi,

I have a Sony Vaio Z690 series that I bought about 1.5 years ago. It works great and I love it. The whole time the internet connection has been great no problem until about 3 months ago, it started disconnecting and reconnecting randomly. Often, it will show that it is connected, when it's not, then I have to manually disconnect and reconnect it only for it to disconnect again a few minutes later. Sometimes, it decides to work fine for a while, then it goes back to the problems.

I use this laptop in two different homes with two different routers and networks and in the beginning I thought it was perhaps the router connection or that I was too far, but because other people also use these networks and they have no problems and because when I ended up having the same problem in both homes regardless of how close I was to the routers, I realized that it's my computer. Also, my internet connection is perfect when I use the Ethernet outlet.

I already updated the wireless drivers from the Sony website and the problem still remains and there are no new devices that were added in any of the homes to interfere with the wireless signal. So, I am 100% sure that the problem is with the wireless network card. At this point, I have several questions:

1) Is there anything I can do to test if my wireless card is not working besides what I have already done? I don't really know where it is in the computer.
2) How can I replace my wireless network card and how much would... Read more
