Q: How much ram for T480 to maximize uhd 620?

I have a W520 now with 8gb ram, and a Quattro 1000 w/2gb graphic memory. My system ram is usually under 5gb usage, and I don't do a lot as far as video goes.Only youtube, and I am hooked up to a 1920x1200 monitor most of the time. For a T480, Is 8gb of ram sufficient, or would 16 make better use of the graphics card?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It's fine when I load a single page (fully maximized), but when I click another page, it only loads with about 2/3 of the page (open at bottom).

I've tried clicking and dragging that portion down to the bottom, close the page by going to the red "X" at the top-right, and when I click on another link it goes back to the 2/3 of the page again (with 2 pages open). Then I either have to click on the maximize button or click and drag again to get it to the bottom.

This started when I was needed 2 windows open and I click and dragged the bottom of a page so I could copy and paste some wording from one window to the next. Ever since, can't get it back.

Thanks for any assistance!

Hi NoHeroes !

Here's the easiest way I know : run the program, don't maximize the window but drag its borders to the edges of the screen then close it. Next time you'll reopen it Windows will have remembered that position. It will only work when the window you close is the only one for that program, e.g. if you have 3 internet explorer windows, then start by closing 2 then drag the borders of the last one to the edges of the screen and close it.

Hi I am having a strange issue: I go to all programs and open a program in this case control panel it opens to the taskbar but i cannot maximize it. I tried restart of course and also opening it from different locales...no luck. Same issue with windows live mail the main program opens normally but if I try to reply the reply message goes to taskbar and again i cannot maximize it. Which leads to a bigger problem I cannot access control panel or computer to run necessary programs to check for errors or problems.....ahhhhhh what is wrong?

It sounds like the windows might be appearing off of the screen. Try clicking on one of these programs on your task bar and then hold down the ALT key and touch Space. This should pop up a menu that will allow you to choose Maximize.

My problem is this.

1. I am in IE
2. Right click on link
3. Select Open in New Window
4. A new window is opened and resides on the task bar
5. Left click the new window in the task bar and it does not maximize. Instead, I see it try to maximize and then disappear into the middle of the screen. I can then right click on it and choose Maximize and it works.

Any thoughts on why this is happening and how to fix it? I have run Ad-Aware for spyware and no problems.

Thanks.

A:IE - Maximize Problem

To open Internet Explorer in a maximised window

For the initial window:

Right click on the Internet Explorer icon on your taskbar and click Properties
In the Run field, choose the maximized option.
Click Apply then ok.

To maximize new windows:

In the existing Internet Explorer Window,

Right click on a link and click open in New Window
After you have opened the new window, close the original (and any other IE windows except the new one).
Resize the new window (drag the edges) to the largest possible size, then close that window.
Now reload IE and try opening a new window

A:How to Maximize Screen

The problem is in the file association table. In windows XP and Vista there is for some reason TWO Explorers, one I found is used for exclusively for the shortcuts so you can specify the icon and all the rest MUST direct to the active version of internet Explorer on the computer, in my case it was IE 7.
Just go to File Types, in XP you can find it in "Folder Options" in Vista you will find it in "Default Programs" Then change ALL file associations for internet explorer to the location of "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\explorer.exe" at this point all shortcut icons on the desktop of Vista will change to IE icon. Now right click and select "open with" and select default program of internet explorer with the "House" icon for Vista. In XP this extra step is not needed.

Once this is done, ALL IE shortcuts will open maximized. Problem for me was solved...

Also, take a look at this site for some more good information and great troubleshooting tips:

I recently ended up in a situations where when I open firefox it goes straight to the task bar; when I try to maximize it it just flitses across

I'm not sure what I did to cause that problem; it had been working fine
up to that point.

Would appreciate some help.

Thank you

A:Firefox won't maximize

Try using your mouse cursor to "stretch" the window to fix the screen, as you would any window. Don't use the middle box at the right corner to maximize it. Then close FF at the 'x' at the top. Open it again and see if it stays maximized. If that doesn't work, repeat the stretching and then try doing it through File, and click Exit.

As far as going to the taskbar, I'm not sure about that. Take a look at Content in the Options, Java, Advanced. If move or resize existing windows is checked, try un-checking it.

Hai All,
Just 2 days back, I moved to IE 7. Today I came across a problem, which really turned out to be a head-ache...

Open any web site say, mail.yahoo.com open the web site with the help of window.open without address bar/menu etc... The focus will be in Yahoo ID field, just minimize the window and maximize again, you can see the focus will be in the password field. Open yahoo in the normal mode with address bar, when you minimize and maximize the window the focus will be in address bar.

When I debugged the code, I found the key down event is automatically fired with the key code 9 (Tab).

Don't know why this is happening, this was not there in IE 6.

Waiting for a solution....

Hi guys, When i open the main ie7 browser it opens up in full, without needing to click on the maximize box on the corner.....and any shortcut links from the desktop that i click on automatically open up and appear in the already opened browser, as it should.

But each time i have the main ie7 browser closed and then click on a shortcut from the desktop, the browser does not open in full. It only opens up to approx. 2/3's to 3/4's on the screen.
I've tried maximizing then closing it and opening it again, dragging the edges out, i've also tried rebooting after leaving the browser on max., but it still opens up in the same size.

So how can i get a shortcut link to open in full without opening the main ie browser first...or is that just the way it is?

When I open my browser it never opens in maxium window, always have to click the max .
Is there a setting for this in internet options?

A:Solved: maximize

If you want any window to open maximized, when the window is open:
Use your mouse to grab the lower right corner and stretch it to the size you want.
(Do not use the maximize button)
You might need to grab the title bar (colored bar with title across the top) and move it to
the center of your screen. When it is the size you want, close with File> Exit or use the X at the top right.
You can do this with any window that has the dots in the lower right corner. If you want a shortcut to open maximized, right click
on the shortcut and select Properties. On the Shortcut tab> Run: use the drop down to select maximized.

Hi there roylee77 and welcome to TSG.

Try this workaround.

* Open a single Internet Explorer window to the smaller size.
* Drag the corners of the window until it completely fills the screen. Do not use the maximize button to enlarge the window.
* Hold down the Ctrl key, keep it depressed, and using the mouse click File and then Exit on the menu bar. Do not use the "X" in the upper right corner to close the window.
* Internet Explorer should now open in a full window.
* If it still opens to a smaller size repeat the above instructions, substituting the "Shift" key for the "Ctrl" key.

A:how to Maximize cmd window?

Had a quick look and it seems that what you need to do is create a start batch file and then a programs batch file

Code:
start /MAX program.bat
This will start program.bat maximized

Code:

color fc
pause
exit
Because you call the program with cmd you have to have the exit command at the end or it will return to cmd and let the user have normal cmd control.

There's a trick that works in XP, and I presume in Vista. You just size the window to fill the screen, then close it. It'll come up the next time at the same size. AFAIK, there is no way to specify that a window always comes up maximized, say in IE or the like.

This can be hit or miss, but this usually works . . open one of the links . . drag the edges to the size you would like to see it in the future . . close the original and all other windows except this one . . click File . . Exit ( or Close ) . . In other words, the window you adjusted the size should be the last to close

After that, the secondary windows should open in the size you chose

This will work with windows that use Internet Explorer -- others may be application specific and I don't know if there is an obvious registry value associated with them.

Run regedit and navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

In the right pane, find the value "Window_Placement" and right click on it and delete it.

Have all Internet Explorer windows closed when you do this.

I am running windows XP pro on a new dell machine with apache web server. Ive already tweaked the system to run 40 max connections I believe that is the most you can run on the system. What I need help with with the TCP Keep alive settings because the users connections are lagging on the TIME_WAIT command and not shutting down quick enough. If there are a bunch of users on at the same time adventually the max connections fill up because of all the time waits and the webserver is temporarly down untill the connections are killed. There has to be some registry tweaks that I can do to solve this and run a fully functional web server. It is just used to host pictures! Please help!

Ive already seen this site from windows http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314053 Ive been playing around with those settings and its not helping I deffinitly need somethign alot more specific! Please!

A:Maximize TCP/IP setting

I think this is a limitation inherent to all the non-server Microsoft operating systems.

If I were you, I would run the server on a Linux box. The number of connections is then limited only to what the software and hardware can handle as a theoretical max (so it's not limited arbitrarily like XP).

Try this ......

For Windows Explorer i.e. Documents, Pictures, Music etc etc.....
Stretch the window with your cursor till you have it the size you want ( do not use the maximize button at the top right ) > close the window > re-open the same window.
It should open exactly the same size as you closed it.
Window remembers the size it was last closed.
As long as you don't change the size, it will from now on open the size you have selected.

For Internet Explorer......
Open Internet Explorer > stretch the window as you did above> press Ctrl key and HOLD > still holding, click File then click Exit ( note : do NOT use the red 'exit' button at the top right. )> re-open Internet Explorer.
It shoule open exactly the same size as it was last closed.
Note : if that does not work for you, substitute Ctrl key with Shift key.

Hi Ken, Welcome to TSF!

When you open one of those programs, use your mouse cursor to 'stretch' the window to full the screen; next time you open it, Windows will remember the sizing.

The mouse arrow will change to two arrows (<-->) so you can stretch the window.
