Yoga 720-12IKB (81B5) Touchscreen no longer works, Keyboard lowercase key failure, random logouts. .

Q: Yoga 720-12IKB (81B5) Touchscreen no longer works, Keyboard lowercase key failure, random logouts. .

Long list of items that have crept up on this laptop after using it for several months. . . . The touchscreen no longer works. I have reinstalled drivers over and over again, deleted and let windows choose the driver, and have tried everything I can think of to get it working. Yet it no longer recognizes touch at all. Bamboo Ink styles works just fine, uninstalling the associated drivers did not change anything. It slowly started to work intermittently and then just quit all together. Keyboard keys just stop working So far some seemingly random LOWERCASE letters stop working, if I hold shift I get an uppercase just fine, or if I hit capslock it will give me the uppercase of whatever letter is not working for that day, so the button itself is fine. This has happened on several different keys completely randomly for no apparent reason what so ever. The only way to fix the issue once it occurs is to stop what you are doing and restart the computer. . . Doing so might fix it for a week or an hour. In the middle of typing or clicking, or doing anything at all it decides to "sleep" I can be in the middle of typing something, moving the mouse to click on something, or using the stylus to take notes and without warning it will enter sleep/hibernation mode. . . I have updated the drivers to the latest that are available, I also updated the BIOS to the latest recommended to see if that might help solve some of the issues. So far no luck, and its still giving me all of the issues listed. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! This thing has been troublesome from day 1. . .

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I just purchased this laptop Monday, and this has been an issue from day one. I start the laptop and everything works fine, I close the lid and it goes into sleep mode. When I open the computer and resume from sleep mode the track pad does not work. the only way to get the track pad to work again is to restart the laptop. This happens every single time without fail which makes it a real PITA to use. . . I have updated the synaptics driver and generic mouse driver with no change in behavior. I have completely uninstalled all relevant drivers and let windows re-install them with no change in behavior. I have 10 days left to return this thing, so hopefully I can get this fixed before that because this form factor is great, but I won?t keep something that it obviously broken. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yoga 720-12-IKB 81B5, setting up as remote machine for elderly parents with dementia, needs boot-on-timer and wake-on-AC-power options in BIOS because elderly parents can't be counted on to keep it running. BIOS is 5GCN20WW, no auto-boot options are visible. Machine is otherwise perfect for the task, but auto-boot capability is a must-have for the intended usage.

I've been using my u920t for almost 10 mont and i really like that i can still use the touchscreen when the keyboard ist out.

But a couple of days ago it stopped working. I don't remeber changing anything.

Windows now tells me the screen is not a touchscreen.
Once i put the screen down and go into tablet mode everything works fine.
Tablet PC setting in the control panel also disappear once the keyboard ist out..

I tried reinstalling the driver.
I also did a windows 8 refresh (no backup unfortunately)

Any ideas?

Thank you for your help.

A:Satellite U920T - when I slide out the keyboard touchscreen no longer works

> Tablet PC setting in the control panel also disappear once the keyboard ist out..
I assume this should be OK since the tablet PC settings should be available only if the notebook is used in ?tablet mode?

The point is that this notebook can be used in three different modes.
1) tablet mode -> the keyboard and touchpad are pulled in and only touchscreen can be used
2) laptop mode -> the keyboard and touchpad are pulled out
3) photography mode -> keyboard is pulled in but touchpad is pulled out and can be used as well as the touchscreen.

I?m not quite sure if the ?orientation lock button? (on the left side) would affect the touchscreen but fact is that using this button the automatic rotation of the screen orientation can be enabled or disabled.
If you are operating the computer in laptop or in photography mode, the screen orientation will always be in Landscape mode.

Please check also if the touch display has been calibrated properly
Go to control panel (win key + x control panel) -> Tablet PC settings

Here you will find the first tab called ?Display?
Click on ?Setup? button to start the setup where you could identify the touchscreen
In bottom area called ?display options? you could calibrate the touch display.

Hello. After months without trouble, one day, when I powered up my laptop, my touchscreen was acting weird, wouldn't let me enter my pin to log in, was like constantly clicking somewhere else, and touchpad was also not responding. After two restarts, there was nothing weird and touchpad was working fine, but the touchscreen wouldn't respond to touch, nor the pen. At this point, several restarts didn't make it work again. After installing a big windows update, the next restart made the touchscreen work just fine, but the pen was still not working. I shut down my laptop and, when I power it up the next time, the touchscreen is not working again. Now, my laptop is fully updated both on Windows Update and Lenovo Vantage, but the touchscreen and the pen are not working. Things I have tried without success:-Restarting several times.-Still not working in safe mode-Uninstalling all windows updates, testing it, and installing them all again.-Disabling and uninstalling the touchscreen and pen devices on Device Manager, and restarting so windows installs them again automatically.-Searching in google for a solution. My laptop still has warranty, but I'd hate to have it substituted for another for a software-related problem. Also, I do have a system image from many months ago that I could use to restore the system, but I'd prefer not to lose my current state if possible, but, of course, getting my touchscreen back has priority. I couldn't find anything clear on the many post... Hi All I have Yoga 720 12 IKB ideapad, both touchscreen and fingerprint stopped working after aupgrading windows 10 pro. However, I was able to restore the fingerprint functionality but not the touch. When I took the laptop to one of the Lenovo agents in Kuala Lumpur he noticed (Which i did not notice before) that there is a Yellow box around the screen where the touch is working only out of the box and does not work inside this area. He asked for replacing the screen with just 1 month warranty which I simply refused. Any support here?

I bought a used x230T a while ago. Initially the touchscreen worked fine but the motherboard failed after about a month, so I replaced it. After doing so, however, the screen no longer takes touch input of any kind and the webcam no longer works. Any attempts to reinstall drivers have not worked, and I sometimes get an error stating that no touch input hardware could be detected. I've also tried unplugging and replugging the ZIF connectors many times. Does anyone have any advice for other steps I could take or others things I could try? I got the tablet model specifically because of the touchscreen so it's been disappointing to go without it. Thanks for any tips you may have.

Does anyone know how to re enable the finger input for the touch screen on a toshiba portege tablet M930?

Hi

The fingertouch might be disabled.
Go to control panel ? Pen & touch

in the Pen and Touch Settings window, click the Touch tab
Check or uncheck the checkbox next to Use your finger as an input device
Click Apply and then OK

I'm guessing because the pen works, it's not a hardware issue, but a software setting? Please help!

Quick recap:I checked on 17th of May for new Bios on the hp, guess what: BIOS 1.33 was available. I downloaded and quickly installed it. Everything was fine. I checked the page on the next day, wondering why the BIOS was regressed to BIOS 1.30. 1.33 was nowhere to be found. Yesterday it was back up. Just saying. Something weird was happening around the release.I have the Pre-weekend 1.33 installed, so maybe the problem is solved with the after-weekend version, but I can only guess. Problem:Everytime I close the lid and the laptop goes into standby and after I open it up again, the TOUCHSCREEN WILL NOT WORK. I've had my Yoga 900 for just a little while (got it the day that showed up in stores). I love it, save for one thing. One time, it got into this mode where touches would randomly appear on the screen (the little dot you get when you do a touch). At the same time, random keys seemed like they were being pressed. And you'd press the keys on the keyboard but they'd give you a totally different keystroke than they were supposed to. This persisted through two whole reboots. But it wouldn't happen 100% of the time. It'd be fine for a few minutes, then start doing it again. I managed to get a BIOS update in and a reboot, and the problem seemed to go away. But then in the last day or two, it has come back, albeit much much less horrifically. They'll be a stray touch on the screen with my hands nowhere near it (I'm almost always in laptop mode). Or something weird will happen like my browser will open a new tab that there's no good reason for. All of these might be phantom touches, but some could be phantom keys as well. Anyone else run into this? It seems like it's probably the hardware, though I can't rule out software.

Good day and welcome to the community.

Sorry you're having difficulty.
I've not seen this reported previously for the Yoga 900, but a driver update for the Yoga 3 14 (I believe) fixed a similar issue. So, if you would, please confirm which video driver version you have, and compare it to what's listed in the driver listing: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-900-13isk

It's hard to pinpoint when/ how this started. Occasionally the screen wouldn't turn on. Laptop would otherwise boot normally. At first I thought it was related to coming out of sleep, but then one day I noticed the display would work by pressing (applying pressure) to the lower right portion of the screen (above the hinge). So for a few months I did this whenever it happened. Eventually I had to do it every time I turned it on. This is a touchscreen, but the pressing I applied seemed to be affecting a connection behind the screen. Sometimes I needed to apply decent pressure (actually flexing the screen some), and sometimes it took a couple tries to find the right spot to apply it. Eventually this stopped working altogether, and have resorted to using a 2nd monitor. I started researching the issue again, and have not found much related to my exact issue. The interesting thing is I realized that the touchscreen is still functioning. I had set the display to duplicate, and noticed I can still perform touch functions on the laptop screen that showed up on the 2nd monitor. I watched a screen replacement vid for this model to try and understand what's behind this screen. I'm hoping it may be a simple fix with a bad connection going on. It appears all the main connections are at the bottom center of the screen. Nothing near the spot I had to press to get it to work, but maybe I was still flexing enough in that area to affect the connections at the center. I can't... Read more

Main issue im having is the keyboard is acting very bizzare. First keypress does not register when I start typing or after pressing the spacebar. shift keys and backspace are intermittent. for example, on this sentence i had to press the "f" key twice as well as press every letter twice after each press of the spacebar. Reinstalled drivers, system restore, malware scans all to no avail. i'd guess it's a hardware issue.now the touchscreen:does not work 99% of the time but randomly appears to. When it's not working windows tells me no touch is available for this display. Seems like a poor connection to me as well as I can't seem to find touch screen drivers. anyone have experience with this?

I have a really weird but unpleasant problem with my Yoga 2 Pro. Recently the fan of my yoga 2 pro no longer starts (I do not hear the noise of running fan anymore). As a result the back of my yoga 2 pro gets very unplesantly hot and soon thereafter the windows 10 crashes with critical_process_died. I am not sure if this has anything to do with Windows 10 upgrade, since overheating became serious only afterwards, but this could be a coincidence. I downloaded the Lenovo diagnostic tools and the Yoga 2 Pro passes the memory, hdd and CPU test. There is a fan test wich states 'No fan detected'. Could someone with a Yoga 2 Pro let me know if they have a fan detected and can run a fan diagnostic test? I opened the Yoga 2 Pro and inspected the fans, the connections, everything seems fine. The fans are clean and they can spin freely. I am not sure what troubleshooting I can do next. I reduced the CPU speed in the power setting to 50 % and I can use the yoga 2 Pro without crashing for now. Any advice will be most appreciated. Thanks!

A:yoga 2 pro fan no longer works

Hey, did you get this fixed? I'm having the same problem but nothing I read seems to help. I have taken the laptop into a computer shop who mucked about and couldn't help, said the fans themselves are OK.Interestingly the fans started for a few minutes a week ago before going back to sleep so I'm almost certain it is a software issue.Any help would be sweet!

Hello Pinaxx. So, from time to time your notebook's built in keyboard stops functioning? Is this correct?Again, just to make sure I am on the same page, what is listed under "Human Interface Devices" and "Keyboards" in your Device Manager? If it is not listed, do you have a section labeled "Other Devices?"Before going further I'd like to perform a hard reset of the notebook. This forces the computer to re-initialize the hardware and can fix a wide variety of issues. Try the following.Shut down the notebook.Remove battery and AC power.Press and hold power button for 20-30 seconds.Replace battery and AC power.Boot notebook and verify functionality of keyboard.Post the result.I will keep an eye out for your reply and continue working with you. I hope you have a great day!

I purchased a Lenovo Yoga 730 15" i7 in early August.  For the past couple weeks the screen has started to flicker / go all gray/beige for a few seconds at a time before returning to normal.  On Sunday, the screen went gray/beige for several seconds (longest that I've seen thus far) then went black.  I tried rebooting several times, powering on/off, moving the angle of the screen - nothing worked to bring back the display.  I plugged the laptop into a 4K television via HDMI and the picture displayed perfectly.  It doesn't appear to be an issue with the GPU, at least not that I can tell. Additionally, I updated the drivers to the latest recommended and updated the BIOS to the latest version found on Lenovo's support website.  Important to note, in one of the many restarts that I did after these updates the Lenovo's loading image displayed for a brief second before Windows loaded before going back to black.  This only happened once and I couldn't reproduce it. Any ideas or thoughts as to what happened and how the situation can be remedied?  Thanks!

Hi all,  Today the keyboard on my Thinkpad X1 Yoga has stopped working completely and I cannot figure out why. No keys now work on the keyboard (including triggering the backlight etc), the only indication I have that it may still work is that on pressing certain keys (e.g. caps lock) there will be a beeping sound. I recently purchased a Yoga 720-12IKB as a graduation gift. This model came with a 128GB SSD that I would like to upgrade. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could confirm the following: 1) I've found online documentation that this model takes M.2 SATA 6GB/sec SSDs. I am assuming that this means it can't take a M.2 NVMe drive? (Before looking into this upgrade, I didn't know the difference.) 2) Will this model take a 1TB drive? The sizes listed on the hardware manual go up to 512GB. But, that just could just be because that was the max offerred by Lenovo on this model. My question is can it be upgraded with a drive larger than that? 3) Assuming that this model only takes M.2 SATA drives and I can go to 1TB, this drive on Amazon seems like an excellent deal. Can anyone confirm if it will work or offer any downsides to it?  https://tinyurl.com/y4gy9zwp Thanks!

If your SATA controller is in AHCI mode (and Windows is tolerating that) you should be able to install Linux along side. Several distros will happily boot in UEFI (and secure) mode.

Please explain.  Perhaps others will have suggestions.

Z.
