Lenovo Yoga X1 Trackpad enabling

Q: Lenovo Yoga X1 Trackpad enabling

Hello, When I put the Laptop in Tablet Modus the pointer and the trackpad are automatically disabled. When I want to use the Laptop function again , I simply put the the laptop slowly in its initial position. Here I have the problem that the trackpad is still disabled. The only solution that I have found so far is to restart the computer.Restarting the computer is not a convinient solution. Can you please advice? I have downloaded the userguide and I am sending you in the attached file the proper explanation of "disabling trackpad" when changing the modus. I would be very thankful to read how to enable it again. Thank you in advance!Angelina

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I would like to change the scrolling speed of my lenovo yoga 910 but the only settings I see are the tracpad gestures and mouse settings in mouse and tracpad settings. This looks like a windows 10 issue but some other laptops have additional settings for trackpad and I would like to know they exist for this ultrabook. I also wonder if I can configure the trackpad gestures. For example I want to add/configure the dragging gesture from double-tap to three finger tap and drag. It seems that you can only turn them on/off. Again, this seems to be a windows 10 issue but any help is appreciated.

After a Window's update, my trackpad stopped working. After searches online for how to fix the issue, I noticed that the trackpad was completely unistalled from my computer (vs. just being disabled). I went to the Lenovo website and re-downloaded the driver, which fixed the issue..... for a few weeks. Now my trackpad stopped working again (randomly mid use...I had not restarted my computer or anything), with no further windows updates occuring. I looked and it is once again, unistalled. I tried to download the driver again, but it didn't fix the issue this time. How do I get my trackpad back installed and working?

So I booted my PC after an update the other morning and the keyboard and trackpad weren't working. I tested the brightness keys on my keyboard and they still worked so it couldn't be a hardware issue there, and my mouse still worked so it was just the trackpad that had something wrong with it. The trackpad has a driver error (code 10) but the keyboard says it's working correctly. Here's what I've tried in hopes to resolve the issues so far: -Reinstalling trackpad drivers -Uninstalling both trackpad and keyboard drivers then restarting -System Restore -Chkdsk on both drives -A trick I read on these forums where you flip the device into tent mode, then after a few seconds flip it back round to laptop mode. I am utterly confused as to what's wrong here as nothing has even slightly helped my problem. Any help?

The trackpad might break me here... it's absolutely terrible if you're the kind of user that likes to use single finger click and two finger right click exclusively. You can set it up for this behaviour but it basically disables the entire bottom third of the trackpad.

Are there tactile click locations for left and right click in the bottom corners?  Or is it totally "tap" sensing?  Mine shipped out yesterday and this was one of my concerns.  Another option that just went on sale, the ThinkPad X1 Tablet, has dedicated buttons like a traditional ThinkPad.  It's much pricier for the same hardware, though, and I like the Yoga flexibility compared to a Surface type setup.

Oh and the placement of the arrow up button and the right shift button is a bit unfortunate but I guess I'll get used to that. Cheers!

I got my Lenovo Yoga 710 in the summer of 2016, and everything works great except for the inactive scrolling. The inactive scrolling only works when I have an external mouse attached to my laptop, in which I am able to type in one window while scrolling in another window that's inactive. However, the inactive scrolling doesn't seem to work when I am using my trackpad and not an external mouse. I have updated all of my drivers, but I just don't understand why the feature would work only with the external mouse and not the trackpad. It is rather inconvenient to carry around an external mouse when the trackpad is supposed to do the job. I am coming from a Macbook Pro and I really miss the inactive scrolling that it provided.  I would really appreciate it if someone could please help me. Thanks! P.S. I do not have any third party software installed and the inactive scrolling feature is "enabled."

When scrolling with the index finger on my right hand I will regularly hover over and lightly touch the left button with my left index finger in anticipation of the link/button/text box etc that I am about to click on. I have always done this an never encoutered any issues on the numerous laptops I have owned and used in the past). When I do this on my newly axquired Lenovo Yoga 900 it causes the mouse pointer to lag momentarily. I have updated drivers (v19.0.17.57), I have turned off ALL Multi-Finger options (2-finger, 3-finger and 4-finger) and reduced Palm Tracking to the minimum. Is this behavior isolated to me, or are other experiencing the same behavior? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

I have a new X1 Yoga 2nd Gen and the track has the following problems with two finger scroll. 1 When scrolling with Internet Explorer or Edge it scrolls smoothly but then the page will start jumping up and down. It often does this during a smooth two finger scrolling stroke. 2 When scrolling through a text document, directories and most things that are not browser related the effort and number of strokes with my fingers required goes up hugely. It is like the page is stuck and difficult to move. I write software so scrolling through documents with various editors and android studio is part of my daily work. I have the latest Bios, latest drivers and Windows is fully up to date. I reported the fault to Lenovo and they signed on to my computer and agreed there is a problem. They offered to swap the laptop or to get an engineer out to replace the touchpad. When I told the consultant that this is the second X1 Yoga laptop I have had because of this problem he said it was probably a bad batch of hardware. I doubt this as it seems more like bad drivers. Does anyone else have these problems? I am currently using a Thinkpad T420 which I think is perfect machine in all ways but just too slow now. Phil

First Windows computer. The 900 is fresh off factory floor in China. My trackpad ALWAYS makes a CLICK noise when I just touch the pad. The only way to not hear that is if I go to the top left or right of the pad then it is silent. The bottom portion always makes that noise. I'm afraid if might drive me nuts. And I'm not talking about punching down on the trackpad, just touching it. Is it supposed to do this? Otherwise my orange 900 is really sweet. Thanks!

A:YOGA 900 Does Trackpad Always Go CLICK!

The trackpad is clicky, I like it like that. Since its a multi touch trackpad, you can just tap it instead of pressing it and you won't hear a click. Optionally, you can use the touchscreen. And yes, its supposed to click like that

I recently (as in, yesterday) bought myself a Yoga 710-14IKB. Straight out of the box, I found that the trackpad didn't work as it should. The side of my thumb, i.e. the way I would naturally click, simply won't work with attempting to left-click except on the rare occassion. Attached is an image to give you the idea--I'm not certain I described it well enough.I returned the first one, thinking it might be a hardware problem when updating and deleting the driver did nothing to help, but the replacement does the same thing. It seems like uninstalling Synaptics does show that it's not a hardware problem, but obviously leaves you with a sluggish cursor and no scrolling. It runs on Windows 10 and uses Synaptics Pointing Device v. 19.0.17.116, I'm assuming it's an issue with either Windows 10 or the latest Synaptics driver, but rolling back did nothing. Is anyone else having this issue? Any remedies out there? I can adjust to clicking differently, but I'd prefer not to. I'm very set in my ways, you know.

I have had my Yoga 710 Thinkpad or the last 6 months without any problems, until a couple of days ago, when my Trackpad stopped working.  There is no response from the cursor, which disappears when I use the touchscreen.  I can see the cursor when I press Ctrl, but is completely unresponsive when I try to use the trackpad.

I have been through the forums and tried everything short of resetting the computer with no success:
-Pressed F6.
-Tried to enable the mouse from the control panel, there was no option to enable or disable the touchpad.
-Tried every combination of deleting, updating and checking the mouse driver.
-Updated the BIOS from the website.  I also could not find an option to enable the mouse from the BIOS screen.
-Fully updated Windows 10.
-Booted up the computer in Safe Mode, no joy.

I am running Windows 10 on a Lenovo Yoga 710 14ISK, model 80TY, the touchpad is Synaptics.  According to the Control Panel, the device drivers are up to date, and the device is (apparently) working properly.

Many thanks in advance for any help offered.

I am really loving my X1 Yoga G2. Over all its just uncomfotable to use most of the time. Any suggestions or special drivers that might improve this for me? Thanks.

This may work for others that have the same material the trackpad on the Yoga 2 Pro is made from... I had noticed right aways that the trackpad on my Yoga 2 Pro looks oily/shiny/blotchy after a little use, and have been trying to track down a source for a vinyl or skin to protect it.  So far I haven't found much other than full device skins. In doing so I decided to use a piece of clear packing tape to clean the trackpad and was surprised that not only does it remove dust, but it makes the trackpad look like new removing any oil/buildups on it. Since I use the screen and a mouse now, I like that I can have the trackpad looking pristine until I find a source for a vinyl or skin to protect it.... if only they used glass instead like the mbpro...

Dear Community, I bought my Yoga 920 this week and comming from an 2011 MacBook Air, I'm really struggling with the trackpad clicking everytime I tap a little too hard (in the normal motion of moving the scroll across the screen.I searched everywhere in my computer and over Google, and can't find a way to turn off this feature. I've seen that Lenovo's older models with Synaptics drivers have the option to disable tapping over the mouse's hardware proprieties, but that's not the case for this model (I can't even find a driver for this trackpad). Any ideas on how to disable this trackpad tapping? Much appreciated.

Hello, i work in a school and the majority of our students use the Yoga 11e laptops. Recently we have recieved a few with keyboards and trackpads that seem to be disabled. My guess is that the laptop is stuck in some sort of "tablet" mode that triggers when the screen is flipped fully back.  Any help with this issue would be very much appreciated, thanks!

A:Yoga 11e disabling trackpad and keyboard

Hi JamesOasis.
Welcome to the forums.

Can you please post the full model number of the machines? Are you using Windows 10 ?

Let me share some ideas.....

Tablet mode on Windows 10 does not disable the trackpoing or the keyboard, if the computer is on Laptop layout. (not bended)

Let's try to see first if it is a configuration or software issues.
Check out the "Control Panel - Mouse" and see the "Thinkpad" tab. See if the trackpoint is disabled, just in case.

After that I will check the Mouse driver.
Check the support site for the Yoga 11e:
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...
- Search for the mouse drivers, and just in case install the latest version.

If that does not work, I would get into a firmware and driver update rampage
Check out any BIOS update for the computer and be sure to use Windows update to be on the latest level. Check some other drivers on the Lenovo support site that may need to be updated.

This are only some ideas... let us know if you have any progress.

Regards

My Lenovo 900 seems to have a defective trackpad.  The trackpad seems to have two separate clicks to it... which makes it very annoying to use.  When I'm simply moving my cursor around (not engaging a "click" on the trackpad) the pad constantly makes an annoying clicking sound as my finger lightly glides on and off the trackpad surface.  It feels like the trackpad surface is not attached properly and is loose.   Anyone else having this problem?

Mine is somewhat similar, through not nearly as bad. You'll notice that the bottom of the touch pad is not flush with the rest of the laptop causing a slight rattle. These laptops aren't cheap, so swap it out for another one because they're not supposed to be like this.

Hello, On my 1st gen Thinkpad Yoga 14 (20DM000VUS) running Windows 10 (64-bit) I, like many other people here, hated the "new" clickpad compared to the classic trackpad. I've followed this thread pretty carefully: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Switch-ThinkPad-Yoga-Clickpad-with-new-... And decided to do it for myself. Hardware-wise, switching it out was a breeze. But since that thread really deals with the Yoga 11, the driver modifications haven't worked for me. I was able to get the classic clickpad to work (buttons and all) using the generic Synaptics driver pack available on their site, but in doing so it ruins the Lenovo tweaks, specifically the conversion to tablet mode. When I go into tablet mode, it will no longer automatically switch into tablet mode, rotate in tablet mode (after manually turning it on), or the biggest problem, disable the trackpad when in tablet mode. Has anyone been able to sucessfully make this switch or could someone help me try to make this work the way it should? I would really appreciate it!

Did you check other model "Maintenance manual" to find the FRU? It can be interesting if you can try the drivers of the touchpad of the machine model from where you took the FRU. This is a very interesting MOD for your TP 14, it can be nice if you can also post pictures of you work !! Regards

This has been plaguing my Yoga 900 since I bought it and only gotten worse over time. I don't have tap to click enabled, so I have to click the trackpad down to do a left click. However, sometimes the click is not registered and other times it registers as two clicks. Is there any software setting to reduce the effects of this, or at least make the double clicks not happen? I tried reducing the double click interval and that hasn't helped.

Yoga 900 trackpad began acting erratically within last few weeks.  Even though "activate by hovering" to select is turned off, the cursor acts as if its randomly auto selecting and clicking functions, making it impossible to operate.  A dirty fix is to deactivate "tap to click", but this eliminates an important functionality and increases work effort.

The synaptics driver hasn't been updated in two years.  A crude suspeicion is that system updates intended to support precision trackpads are intefering with legacy (i.e. non precsion) trackpads.

I've tried all the fixes (reinstalled driver), reduced sesitivity on trackpad, confirmed all updates are current, etc.

Any insight or suggestions?
