Lenovo ideapad 320-15ABR Blue Screen of Death issues while watching movies online

Q: Lenovo ideapad 320-15ABR Blue Screen of Death issues while watching movies online

Good afternoon all. I'm hoping someone here can help me with this. I bought this Lenovo ideapad 320-15ABR at Thanksgiving and received it at the beginning of December. I bought it mainly so that I could use Photoshop, Microsoft Office and to watch TV/movies online. The only things I've installed on this computer since receiving it was the Photoshop 2018 and Avast Antivirus. I disabled the Windows Defender antivirus and I couldn't find McCaffee anywhere on my computer. Anyway, I've used this computer to watch movies a few times now for the last several weekends and at least once during a movie (either through Netflix or Amazon Prime) I will get an error message that reads something along the lines of: "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart." Basically the blue screen of death. It's incredibly frustrating because I've been happy with Lenovo products in the past. I'm also not a huge fan of Windows 10 and while I don't blame Lenovo for the changes Microsoft keeps making, these new changes coupled with the constant blue screens of death on a brand spanking new computer have made me a very unhappy customer. Because of the changes with Windows, I'm not familiar at all with how to troubleshoot this problem (or even where to start) to see if there is something wrong with my laptop hardware or if it's a driver error. If I can I'd like to try to understand how to find out what the real problem is and what is causing this EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING error. I've done some reading online and some places say driver error. Some places say hardware error. What can I do to try to figure out what the specific error is that is causing my computer to shut down when I watch movies? How would I go about it? I'm not super computer literate as far as how things work and a lot of computer jargon, though I can follow instructions. I just want to make sure that I have a good set of instructions to follow to try to figure this problem out that I can understand. Thank you in advance for any and all help that is given.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Just a heads-up: I bought this Lenovo Yoga 13 Ideapad in 2013, so it's out of warranty. Proceed to read my problem..... I always get a black screen whenever I shut off my laptop and turn it back on again, which is why I lock my laptop instead. But when I DO lock it and get back on it the next morning, I encounter the Black screen of death and instead of my lockscreen immediately appearing like normal after I lock it and have left it overnight & try to get on it, I have to shut down my laptop and turn it back on because my laptop won't immedately take me to the lock screen so I can log into my computer.  Today (March 17, 2017), I had to shut down and turn on my laptop while pressing the rotation button button or the OneKey Recovery button (the button with a circle and a line going through it; I don't know exactly what it's called, but I think it's the recovery button OR the screen rotation button, on the right hand side of the computer: If anyone knows the name of this button, please let me know!)..I tried this 5 times and It wouldn't turn on. The 6th time pressing the Recovery button OR the screen rotation button on the right side of the laptop (whatever it's called), it did work and now I'm on my laptop typing like normal. But this Lenovo Yoga Ideapad 13 only works when it wants to. Is there any proven fix to this hardware issue? I was told that it was a motherboad issue, but what's the real culprit? And is the motherboard what's actually giving me th... Read more

Your problems are...

* Network driver NETw5s64.sys from early 2009
Please reinstall with the newest available.

* Mcaffee
McAffee is a frequent cause of BSOD's.
I would remove and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials at least to test.

How to uninstall or reinstall supported McAfee consumer products using the McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR.exe)

Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows
* You also need to update to Sp-1
First please run SURT > System Readiness Update Tool.

Ensure you install the correct 64 or 32bit option for your system.

Download the System Update Readiness Tool (64 bit)
Download the System Update Readiness Tool (32 bit)

Hi! I recently changed my system to W7, actually it was my neighbor, I must admit that I don't know a thing about computers. (Edit: I asked him to do install it all over again after this problem, and he did, but the problem is still here.)Anyway, ever since then, everytime I try to use bitorrent, or just download something normally (although normal donwloads takes a lot longer to get the BSOD) i get the blue screen.Same for videos, but this one is more randow. It happens both on youtube and on vlc, or on any site that has any video, really. On vlc it seems to happen more often, though.  Oh yes, it also happens when I acess tumblr. I'm not exactly sure what triggers it. Now, usually it crashes a little after I start watching videos or downloading something, does not take long but it's not immediatly. But earlier today, it crashed immediatly after watching/downloading. It just stopped like, in the last hour or so. This is really bugging me.Not sure if it's relevant, but someone told me it could be a driver thing, so I used slimdrivers. The problem is still here, though. Can anyone help me? What information do you need? Like I said, I don't know a thing.

Bought 310-15ABR few days ago, and i have issue with restarting this laptop. The problem is that, whenever I click "Restart" or if Windows automatically restarts (after updates), the laptop will shutdown and boot to lenovo logo screen and stay there forever. I have to click ALT CTRL DEL to reboot it again and it will then show lenovo logo and boot into windows. This happens on every restart. Essentially restart functionality is as good as shutdown. Its better to shutdowns and then click the power on button. Here is what i have discovered:- The issue disappears if i am not logged in into my windows account. So basically if i boot into windows and dont sign in, then restart, it will restart into windows and go to login screen.- The issue pops up if i am logged in into my windows account and click the restart button, no matter how long i used the laptop Here is what i have done so far:- Reset bios to default setting - Reset windows to defaut- Installed windows from scratch using bootable USB.- Flashed the latest bios - Installed and uninstalled all the lenovo drivers- Installed a new SSD replacing the hard disk The issue hasnt resolvedNeed some help ThanksRon

So I am trying to change the boot logo on the said laptop, The New Graphic one with the weird design, just google Ugly lenovo logo. so I downloaded a basic logo and converted it to a 16 bit bmp images less than 20kb and i am using the lenovo supplied Pheonixtools SCT flash for windows program, The working folder has, the BIOS.cap file, the rsp file which defines the parameters for the flash,  and the 32 and 64 bit GUI and dos exe and another dosflash file. to this i added my logo file which is l.bmp... now when ever from cmd i run the command "Winflash64.exe /logo l.bmp" it automatically detects the Bios.cap file and the Image but the process always fails at "SecureFlash Verification Fail", going through the help page doesnt help as there is no parameter to skip the file verification except for skipping the Date and time check of the bios....  any halp please !!!

and torrenting.

Basically, when I started downloading the torrent file, my computer started to act weird and BSOD'ed on me. I tried to see what's wrong and ran Windows Diagnostic Memory test to rule out a memory problem and it passed with 2 runs. I also did sfc /scannow and nothing shows up.

Everytime I start up, I got a BSOD as soon as the torrent started downloading again.

I have ran a bad hard drive sector test roughly 2 days ago and all three of my drives are fine. I suspect it might be the file I was torrenting since I stopped the Torrent now and so far I haven't blue screened yet.

Here are my computer's specs:
Intel Core i7 2700K
MSI Nvidia GTX 680 GPU
16 GB Kingston Hyperx RAM 1600 mhz
Intel 520 120 GB SSD with 3 TB Hard disk space.
z77m-d3h-mvp gigabyte motherboard.

I have BSOD viewer and here are the dump files that I have been handed:
Attachment 262096

Attachment 262097

Attachment 262098

Attachment 262099

I need to write up a report for Thursday so it would help to get this BSOD issue fixed ASAP. I hope it's not a hardware issue since it was running fine for 3 months since I added the GPU up until now.

Thank you.

Hi I took the advise of this blog regarding Total System Care which claimed to "fix" my blue screen of death problem
What led me to this blog and eventually this forum was that I've been getting this blue screen error after a session of watching videos on youtube. After a dozen of videos my pc sort of blacks out then it goes back to normal. This is just where it gets bad.The 2nd time it does it the screen "brakes" and I get the blue screen of death with the error Bad_Pool_Header.I searched on goggle for a solution to this and that's where I installed Total System Care which I just removed after reading that blog.I'm currently running malware bytes to remove anything it might have left behind.
What's odd is that I had this same problem a year ago but it was when I was using internet explorer browser.Switching to Chrome browser eliminated that problem completely. No more black outs, blue screen of death, and green videos. This is what saved me from going back to staples and returning my laptop. Now it's back...now that I've switched to Chrome and Torch browser that trick isn't working.
When I had this problem back then what I would do is after the first blackout I closed the internet explorer browser and start it again. This would fix it temporarily until I finally got the blue screen of death when I forgot to close it after the first blackout.Another problem is after the first blackout any video... Alright so a couple months ago my computer crashed and I was told it was a hard drive problem. So I got a new hard drive and installed it myself reinstalling windows and everything else. After a bout a week my computer would randomly shut off the screens image would become jumbled with dark lines running horizontally across and then it would either shut off or give me the BSOD. The BSOD flashes fast so I can't write down any information from it. This has happened repeatedly for about 3 months since every couple days. Usually I leave my laptop alone for about 15 min and then I can start it up again. The problem seems to happen mostly when i watch videos or go on sites with a lot of media going on. I think I've installed all the drivers i need to. I'm hoping it is not a hardware problem because i just bought this hard drive. I never had this problem before when i had the old hard drive. If any one could give me some help that would be awesome. I also ran check disk and it came up with nothing. My laptop is an HP G72 Notebook running windows 7. Hard drive is a western digital 250 gb.

Hello everyone,

For a long time I've been messed up with online movies frame (sorry I don't know if I'm using the right sentence here) on my netbook (MSI U270).
I use Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I have the newest drivers. Internet 1MB/s - I always had this.
The worst is when I enter a full screen, deosn't matter whether it is Youtube or other site with online movies. This is most seeing when slow scenes are shown. When I connect my monitor (Dell P2414H 24') it lags more than it is without the monitor... I normally use the monitor. Changing the pixels doesn't help - 720 > 360. I have never had this issue. I have Chrome and Firefox (Adobe Flash Player is installed - 10 at the moment). I tried with a flash some tricks, I installed lighter version of it - 10 but without a result. I tried to install some extensions to Chrome to force a browser to using flash instead html5 - still the same. I disabled hardware acceleration in Chrome. In firefox I disabled flash protectedmode.
In this forum I made a thread when I posted my hardware tests, all seems fine:
Recently BSOD on a new Windows // ntoskrnl.exe

On the other hand... I copied a URL link from YT and pasted it into VLC player and it works perfectly.
Movies on my hdd works fine, the problem only appears while in a browser mode. It has to be something with a flash or?

#I made a short recording with my phone showing the problem on a one YT video:

So now when I enter the new pass code for the new router wireless the comp. has a fit and I get the Blue Screen and it keeps shutting down and rebooting.

Unfortunately though, every time I try to log into piratesonline.com (an online game that is probably a bit too much for my computer, but before the wipe my computer could handle it good enough--minor lag and occasional distortions--to satisfy my 4 and 6 year olds).

Anyway, every time I try to log in I get the blue screen with the following:

windrvnt.sys is a file associated with a program called FolderLock, do you have that program installed? If you do, I would try turning it off, or removing it.

Otherwise, try renaming the file windrvnt.sys to something else so that it can't try to access it. It's not a required Windows file, so you can rename it, and if something else messes up, you can just rename it back.

I bought this laptop 3 weeks ago. it's an intel i5 M520 with 4GB ram, 500gb hdd, ati radeon graphics, windows 7 64bit.

It crashed 3 times so far, and everytime after an hour of using the laptop only in battery while using the integrated video card. I didnt try with ATI card to run on battery. But I always use ATI when I am using an external monitor while it is plugged and it never crashed then. It did not crash when i was switching the graphics card.

I had to push down the power button to shut down as nothing was responding.
Havent installed anything complicated other than phpeditor and ftp filezilla, mozilla, chrome.

NOte that i reinstalled Windows to factory settings again using OneKey Recovery.
And to my disappointment it happened again and Today instead of being frozen it went to blue screen and restarted auto. Here is what the windows problem solver showed. What should I do? Take it to a service center, i have warranty. Thanks a lot in advance for your help. I also attached the .dmp and .xml file in .zip format.

Hi and welcome Abu
This is pretty straight foward, your BSOD was caused by your intel wifi driver, please download and install fresh copy of it

Driver Removal and Reinstallation:
Please do the following:
- download a fresh copy of the latest Windows 7 version of the program for this driver from the Intel website (NOT from Windows Update or from the Update driver function in Device Manager). If there are no Windows 7 drivers, post back for further instructions on installing Vista drivers using Compatibility mode.
- uninstall the current version from your system
- install the freshly downloaded version
- check to see if you have any further BSOD's

I am using the Lenovo Y50 Laptop Intel Core i7-4720. I have been getting Blue Screens for about 3 months and going right now. I took it to a technician to get it hard reset, but it did nothing. Recently, it has been blue screening a lot more frequently. I have the Blue Screen Viewer shown in the picture if it helps. Is there any way to fix this? Thank you.

Have a Lenovo H50-55. Clean Install Windows 10 64-bit. I used Lenovo Companion to install all updates. Have everything up to date including the latest Chip and Video drivers. I am using the newest Raedon Crimison ReLive and i am getting every once in a while a Blue Screen of Death with Device Stuck in Driver. I searched up and i am finding that it has to do with the Raedon software or the chipset driver. So i unistalled everything. Now. Listen. When i bought the computer it came pre-installed with software including the AMD Catalyst (NOT the Crimison!) I would like to re-install that version of Catalyst into my computer. I would appreiate it tons if someone could tell me what verison that was and the chipset driver for it and where i can find it. I want the EXACT same one. I want that version because i didn't suffer BSoDs with that software. Also. It's a bummer that i can't get a recovery disc or a chance to download the recovery software on to a USB. That sucks awfully. If anyone can please help me. Anyone have the pre-installed software? Can someone point me out to the versions? ------------ Also a question about the Lenovo Companion. I noticed that when i updated my computer using the application it installed a AMD Chipset Driver version FOR the life of me i can't find anything on the web about that driver. It also installed an AMD folder that included tons of files and a file called AMD Install Manager. I click it. I... Read more

Or at least can someone tell me what version of catyalst goes with that chipset driver version Please i beg you! Those BSoDs are annoying. I don't care if i am not up to date with the latest software. I want stabilitly over unstability. I play Minecraft and Skyrim in medium settings anyways and just surf Youtube. That's all. I don't play demanding up to date games.

I have been working on a friends PC who gets random Blue Screens. Needed more memory anyway so I installed new RAM (this was after the errors). No viruses, spyware, malware etc. So far it scans clean. Registry has been cleaned. Hard drive scanned. Still gets the random blue screens! I am thinking possible OS (XP), random hard drive locks or a corrupt program. They don't have the OS recovery disk! Ouch! Any ideas on how to accuratley identify these blue screen errors would be greatly appreciated.

So, for about a week now, I have getting the blue screen of death when logging into my character in eve, so I stopped playing and posted a support question on tech support, they said change graphics settings to "Interval Immediate" and update your driver, I did both and it worked, for about 20 minutes until my internet died, so thinking it would help I restarted my computer, as yahoo messenger was opening up, another blue screen of death, restarted, threw it into safe-mode, rolled back my driver and tried again, same thing, so, thinking it was yahoo messenger (I installed it this morning), I went into safe mode again and deleted it, tried again and got another blue screen of death a little bit after the computer started up. I went into safe-mode again, and tried a system restore, but apparently something is wrong with my system restore as I can't hit "Next" on the screen right after choosing the date you want to restore to (the confirmation screen) I just click it, and does the click animation (where it moves in and out) but nothing happens, running it from command prompt gives the same issue... so here I am typing this error message on my laptop freaking out that my dad will probably kick me out of his house because his computer refuses to run. I have considered wiping it, but my dad has seriously important documents that we haven't backed up (we don't have the money for a portable hard drive)

Oh, and I have looked at the installer for XP an... Read more

It sounds like this is more of a family issue than a computer one.is it safe to test out eve again?I would not. From a computer standpoint: If you suspect eve caused the problems, then I wouldn't use it. It is not uncommon for conflicts to occur, as no software works perfectly on all computers. From a parenting standpoint: I am typing this error message on my laptop freaking out that my dad will probably kick me out of his house because his computer refuses to run Do you want to live on the street?

Hello! I'm new here I really hope someone more knowledgable than myself can help me out with this one!

Ok here's the problem. My dad turned my pc off at the wall once, like not the correct way, when i was out one evening. So i came back and just turned the pc on the normal way but everytime it goes to the Xp loading screen, I get the blue screen of death. Never have i had problems like this before i don't think. My pc is dell dimension E520, and my brother has the same computer. He had an issue like this before and he was able to CTRL + F11 for some dell help thing, but for some reason mines dosn't work when i press on startup. I Think this is because i've reformatted my pc twice or so before this incident because he hadn't reformatted his ever and his CTRL F11 thing worked and fixed his issue.

The tech information is on the blue screen is

*** STOP: 0x00000024 (0x0190203, 0x89CF5DE8, 0XC0000102, 0x00000000 )

No matter what option i pick, be it , start windows normally, start in last best settings, safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with comand prompt, none of these work. still the same error blue screen will come up.

Next thing i tried was switching the order of boot sequence and using my xp disc to get to the recovery console. When i put the disc in, all the things start to load up, but right befor eit should go to the window where i can choose to reformat, or access the recovery console, it dosn't even make it... I bought the Ideapad 700 15ISK (Sr. No: R90JUYXF) on 25th of JUN 2016 (4299 AED) from Dubai UAE instead of DELL, HP and other brands, that was latest machine with high specification. After 2 week usage I faced that igdkmd64.sys error, so I installed graphic driver according to the Lenovo forum solved solution but nothing happened. Then, I 1st time claimed warranty. Still error happened even bios, drivers, window everything newly installed. Then 2nd time I claimed warranty, nothing will changed error still on his place, installed, reinstalled graphic driver my own self and even from service centre.I am having a strong desire to kiss the intoxicated Lenovo enginners who design this ideapad.Lenovo IDEAPAD 700 15ISK cheapest product with genie company defective model which didn't support the Intel graphic driver, how irresponsible Lenovo Company?s engineers are? Even you can?t run laptop for normal usage, window crash again and again like virus. One important thing, if you reinstalled old graphic driver, then 7 salute to Microsoft Window 10 blunder, we can?t stop window 10 to update the graphic driver, window automaticity update the driver and error happened like a virus. Wastage of time and money, I never again buy this Lenovo cheap quality product or never recommend to any of my friend to buy the Lenovo products. Lenovo comapny waste my entire year to claiming warrantyof this defective model cheap Idea pad with high cost.

Hi all!
I was browsing the internet today and I got the blue screen of death..It said it was shutting down my computer to prevent damage..
It described a possible bios problem suggesting an update or freeing up hard disk space..
Stop: 0x0000007e (0xc000000e, 0x8accf3b2, oxf789e26c, 0xf789df68)

I get this error everytime I try to boot up the computer.. I cannot even get into safe mode. I was able to get into safemode with networking by repeatedly hitting the escape button while the drivers loaded..
I attempted to do a system restore and that didn't fix it, I also ran the dell diagnostics tool and that didn't detect anything.
I have a Dell 4600
2.5 gigs of RAM , NVidia 8300 video card (both upgraded back in Feb and have worked perfectly for months)
I have 32 gigs of hd space free on my computer as well..
The only thing I was doing out of the ordinary recently was the day before I received this message, I did a scan disk that failed to complete and defragmented the hard drive and deleted a number of games to free up space.
I've installed a bios update from the Dell website and that did not do the trick, nor did taking the battery out and resetting the settings.. I've also ran the eventvwr.exe in safemode and it didn't show anything out of the ordinary, just a few dcom errors when the computer tried to boot up.

Does anyone know the cause of this problem and a fix? This is the first problem I've run into that I cannot fix myself.. I'm usuall... Read more

A:Blue Screen of Death and possible Bios issues

This sounds like a hardware problem, probably with the disk itself -- what exactly does the Dell Diagnostic check?

Do you have the XP disk available to run the Recovery Console and the command chkdsk /r

And can you verify the highlighted parameter here >>

Stop: 0x0000007e (0xc000000e, 0x8accf3b2, oxf789e26c, 0xf789df68)

If you can access the drive at all -- see if you can get me the minidumps: >>

I can run a debugging utility on the dump files if you do this:

1 > create a new folder on the desktop and call it "dumpcheck" or whatever you like
2 > navigate to c:\windows\minidump and copy the last few minidump files to that folder. *this assumes 'c' is your boot drive, if it is not, subsitute accordingly
3 > close the folder and right click on it and select Send to Compressed (zipped) Folder.
4 > use the "manage attachments" in the "advanced" reply window to upload that zip file here as an attachment.

This might point us to a non Microsoft driver causing the error, if one exists for it.

If you do not see any minidumps, be sure you are not using any cache cleaner such as CCleaner. Also run sysdm.cpl and select Advanced > Startup and Recovery. Make sure "small memory dump" is the one chosen under "write debugging information" and the location should be %systemroot%\minidump

I'll try to be as clear as possible with the situation. I have an HP laptop that runs Windows XP. Now, whenever I start it after it gets past the windows loading screen the blue screen of death flashes and it restarts. And since it always pops up on start-up there is no way for me to turn off the 'restart on blue screen' option. So I have no way of seeing what the error is. I tried starting it on safe mode and all the other options and the blue screen flashes every time. I figured I would need some sort of OS disk and I found one, though it isn't the official HP one for my laptop (don't know where that is), whenever I try to reboot the entire system using the OS disk the laptop and overheats most of the way into it. My laptop normally can work for a couple of hours before overheating, but with the OS disk, the heat generates too quickly. So is there anything else I can do or am I out of options, I would call customers service, but my warranty is up and I just spent $80 buying a new AC adapter (and yes I know I was ripped off on that). So can anybody help me?

A:Blue Screen of Death Issues (HP Laptop)

From the F8 boot menu screen you should be able to turn off "automatically restart", and thus atleast read BSOD parameters.

But frankly this is not likely to be much help if you cannot start in Safe Mode and this is an underlying hardware problem.

With the XP disk that you have, on another computer, you might try creating the bootdisk below and see what you can do with it; it will run as a "virtual" windows. If you still have problems -- you can be certain they are hardware.

A puppy linux booter is also good to test hardware with.

So I've been having issues with the helpassistant trojan that makes a folder in your documents and settings, and I have the DDS logs, but the problem is my computer will lock or Blue Screen before I can finish the GMER logs; is there any way I can work around this or still get the scan done? There have been 2 times now where I actually think I might get it done, so GMER will scan for 1-2+ hours, then, of course, I will crash or get locked up to no luck. Other times, I will lock/BSOD earlier than that, so it seems to be random as to when this happens.Edit: Also, I end up deleting the helpassistant folder before it is finished copying all my data because I thought it might help keep at least some speed or extend the time my computer can stay up; should I do something else?DDS Log:DDS (Ver_09-12-01.01) - NTFSx86 Run by XXXX XXXXXXX at 14:57:02.20 on Thu 02/18/2010Internet Explorer: 8.0.6001.18702 BrowserJavaVersion: 1.6.0_17Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition 5.1.2600.3.1252.1.1033.18.3582.2673 [GMT -5:00]AV: AVG Anti-Virus Free *On-access scanning enabled* (Updated) {17DDD097-36FF-435F-9E1B-52D74245D6BF}============== Running Processes ===============J:\Program Files\Webroot\WebrootSecurity\WRConsumerService.exeJ:\WINDOWS\system32\nvsvc32.exeJ:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost -k DcomLaunchsvchost.exeJ:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MsMpEng.exeJ:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcsJ:\WINDOWS...
