Lenovo Yoga 13 not working without charger plugged in. (Charger works, new battery)

Q: Lenovo Yoga 13 not working without charger plugged in. (Charger works, new battery)

Hi! I have 4 years old Lenovo Yoga Ideapad 13. The problems started couple weeks ago, when the computer wouldn't run or start up without being plugged in. I followed some other people's advice and got a new battery. It seemed to fix to problem for while. Now few weeks after the same problem stands with the new battery. It won't start or run, but when plugged in it says the battery is 100% and charging. I tried checking if the charger isn't working, but it charges all fine on my other Yoga, which has the same charger model. So please note that this isn't the common problem that is seen here on the forums, that the battery doesnt charge. I'm pretty frustrated, as this problem persists even though I changed the battery. Anyone have ideas? I figured it could have something to do with the battery wire connecting battery to the motherboard, but there doesn't seem to be any defects or loose wires. However, I tried taking off the battery connection wire when plugged in, and then I get the message "No battery detected" instead of the regular "100% Fully charged". Any help is appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Lenovo yoga 720-12ikb battery decline when charger is plugged in?

Define "decline." What percentage to what percentage. If it's 100-95, that's by design. If it's around 60, you may have battery conservation mode engaged. At least I THINK that's available on the 720.  If you're down to 20% and it's not charging, then there's a problem.

I don't use my computer for maybe a whole year.
Now, I wanted to use it but it's not working. My battery is addicted, basically, if I don't have a charger I won't be able to turn on the computer.
So when I plugged the charger on the wall, the light on the box charger was solid (it didn't blink); However when I plugged it in the computer the light blinked.
I don't know what's the problem and I would like to fix it, if possible.

When I plug the charger in the message on the battery icon on the bottom toolbar reads as "73%, plugged in, not charging". Obviously the laptop is recognising the charger (i.e "plugged in") but it is not allowing the battery to charge.
I have installed every update on the computer and I have recently searched for any outstanding BIOS updates. The system seems to suggest there is a BIOS update to be installed yet when I try to install it the system says that it cannot detect a charger, and won't complete the update, or it won't complete the update without a charger plugged in in the first place. It's a no-win situation. The computer and charger are only 14 months old so this is very unsatisfactory. When I remove the battery the computer operates on AC power only, so again the charger is working, it simply won't charge the battery and therefore once the battery runs down to 0, which it will eventually, I will be limited to using AC power only.
If I restart the laptop with the charger plugged in it diverts me to a warning page saying that the charger is not recognised and I am given the option to go to the BIOS setup, go to diagnostics or to continue. If I choose "continue" it simply returns me to this warning page every time so the only way to power up the laptop is to do so with the AC charger out, and to then plug it in once the system has started so that the battery doesn't drain completely.
Please help.

A:Inspiron 15 5559 charger not charging battery (manufacturers charger being used)

An unrecognized AC adapter will not charge the battery.
First try a new OEM Dell adapter.  If that's also not recognized, replace the DC power jack:
www.parts-people.com/index.php
If neither the new adapter nor the DC jack solves the problem, you've got a bad charge circuit - replace the mainboard.

However, I know for a fact that both the battery and the charger are the ones that came with the laptop when my stepfather bought it new around three years ago. Any ideas would be helpful! Thanks

Hey everyone! I recently got my lenovo back after sending it for repairs (unrelated to the issues I am having now) and for some reason my lenovo is lagging and will not boot up unless it's being charged and will shut down if I take out the charger once it's booted up. Plus, it no longer charges at max (it's been stuck at 56% for the past two days) and charges way slower than it did before. I've checked my battery's health in lenovo vantage and it says it's good. I've never had this issue before and I'm really frustrated after getting it back that another issue has occured. The first issue was related to my screen flickering and the problem was solved by replacing a worn part so, could something have happened during that process that would be related to my issue? I'm only asking becasue I've only had this laptop for a year and don't understand why I am having this problem now. Any help would be appreciated.

My Dell Inspiron 17R 5720 doesn't recognize charger any more. And unfortunately my warranty expired 2 month ago.It was plugged in and working in the morning, but then in the afternoon I noticed that it was running on the battery only. It wont start without battery (just charger plugged in).
1. So here what I have done to debug. Me and my brother, we have purchased the same Dell laptops at the same time a year and a bit ago. This is why for a debugging purposes it was good.I took my charger and plugged in to his computer. And it works. Definitely not the charger issue I guess. And when I plug charger in to my computer, green light is still on the charger. And I have the original charger that came with the laptop.
2. Now, laptop works on the battery only, so this means that motherboard is working. I guess.
3. Next thing I did was unplugged charger and removed the battery from the laptop. Then I pushed and hold "Power" button for 45 seconds to discharge a flea charge. Plugged charger back in but laptop wont start.
4. Next I started laptop on the battery, went to BIOS and checked if the charger is recognized in the BIOS. No, it doesn't recognize charger. So, if it is not a charger then what else can it be?
5. Laptop doesn't have any strange smells so I'm not sure if anything happened with the motherboard, but I would assume mother board is ok because it works of the battery.
6. I was thinking updating the BIOS, but I can't, because it wont update whi... Read more

A:Dell Inspiron 17R 5720 doesn't work with charger. Charger is not recognized. Not charger problem.

Hi CJ777,
Thanks for reaching out with your query. You pretty much figured out all points of failure. Good job.
If the adapter is not detected in BIOS, it most likely is an issue with the mother board. In the BIOS set up, AC adapter should show up as 65w or 90w. If the adapter status is 'None' or 'Unknown Device Installed', it indicates that the mother board is not detecting the adapter for which the battery is not getting charged. Once the battery charge drains, I'm sure the adapter will not charge it again. Replacing the system board should resolve this issue.

Try removing the battery and reinstalling it. it may not be connecting properly or snapped in all the way. Some components have an FRU # on them which is the field replaceable part number. I don't see why the battery cannot be shipped to you anyway. But you need to call Tech Support to process this since the forum is NOT tech support only a forum of users primarily.

Hello, I have a 3 yr old Ideapad Z510(that came with Win8)which worked absolutely fine until recently. If I plug in the charger when the laptop is on, it abruptly turns off and would never boot again until I remove the charger. However, this is not how it behaves every time. There are some rare instances where I could still operate the machine with charger plugged in.  When turned off, battery is charging and also goes to full 100%. When turned on(battery mode) it does not drain rapidly - I could still get a fairly decent stand up time. So I am assuming the battery is good. I don't see any thermal issues either. Things I tried:-------------- > Tried with a different charger - no help.> Updated the firmware - no help.> Update the entire driver pack - no help.> Applied windows patches, reinstalled and also upgraded windows to Win 10 - no help.> Reseated the battery and associated cables - no help.  I am not sure if there is anything that I could do to at least diagonize the problem before I give it to the service station. Any pointers on this is much appreciated   Thanks much in advance.

All, my Inspiron 15 5000 15-5545 is having an error with the battery charger saying that it is not recognized and that the charger will not charge my computer.  I know that this is an official Dell charger (it is the charger that came with the laptop) - so there shouldn't be an identification issue.
I have noticed that there is a pin problem, however.  There are six pins in the laptop charging port (2 for charger identification in the middle and the four other pins that connect to the charger itself at the 3, 6, 9, and 12-o'clock positions).  Whenever I plug in my charger the pin at the 6-o'clock position gets bent upward towards the 2 identification pins.  This may also be bending the identification pins upward, but I am not sure because it looks like they are in the same place, just the 6-o'clock pin is not in the same place.
I believe that this may be the issue, and has this happened to many people before?  Is there a permanent solution to this?  Do I need to replace my charging port?

A:Inspiron 5545 AC charger not recognized (Battery plugged in, not charging)

It sounds likely there's damage to the DC port, yes.  You may want to try another adapter before replacing that.

I just purchased a replacement battery for my HP Pavilion dv6-7000 laptop to replace my older one. The replacement worked fine for about a week, and now when I have this battery plugged in the computer only works when the charger is plugged into the computer. When the charger is pugged in, the computer does recognize the battery and says that it is fully charged, but when the charger is unplugged the computer dies as if I had removed the battery (or the battery was not plugged in). I have run multiple diagnostic tests such as that in the HP Support Assistant which says that the battery is OK, and the computer can still boot up with the original battery (which just has a decreased capacity). So I do not believe that this is a problem with the computer, but rather with the battery. How can I determine the problem with this new battery and get it to work again?

A few days ago I wanted to start my laptop: nothing happened upon pushing the powerbutton. I connected the charger and tried again, got this error before Windows booted: "HP Battery Alert The system has detected the storage capacity of the battery stated below to be very low [...] Primary (internal) battery 601" I pushed enter to reboot the system and got: "The CMOS Checksum is invalid [...] CMOS reset (502)"  I pushed enter again to reboot the system (since I had no other options). The system started, but the time / date were more than a day behind. Further everything seemed fine, though the battery wasn't charging. Not a bit. After a while I got curious and pulled out the charger, after which the system died instantly. Put the charger back in, got the same errors, and can now only use my laptop when connected to a wallsocket. I didn't have any problems with the battery or the batterylife before the situation above occured. My laptop is out of warranty since the end of january, but I think this is unacceptable for a ?1400 euro machine that's 16 months old. It's not like it was used very intensely either, I use it as an internet / writing / photo-editing machine for when I'm travelling for work. Is this a known issue? I couldn't find anything that gave the same error codes on the forum, but maybe I'm not searching with the right criteria. Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks!

A:Battery failed, laptop works on charger

@CasperH Welcome to HP Support Forum. Normally the CMOS battery can "live" up to 5 years or more. Could be some internal error but why for both batteries only. This is a mystery. For main battery, please use the following instructions to check            https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c04700771 If failed, you need to replace battery. Regards.

Recently I bought a charger for my HP G61-110SA which was just a replacement adapter. Now yesterday it did something weird. Basically, there are two pictures of the two indicators there are to show whether it is charging, one is on the front and one is next to the port on the side. Basicaally the charger wasnt changing the indicator on the side or the one on screen but the one on the front was working when I turned it on. By default the laptop chages brightness when plgged in but now it sort of brightens a bit (not to the full level as should do) and then goes back to normal. Today the laptop is still doing the same but the front light now only turns on for a few seconds before turning off! I dont know whether it is charging. Is this the laptop or the charger. Any help would be useful, I have attatached the side indicator and the front one

UPDATE: I found a website which said you could turn it off and start without battery but with charger and then turn off and use both. However, I turned it off and removed the battery and it wouldnt charge. Then I put the battery in and it started charging-weird. Also the light on the front doesnt last very long so I am stuck. ANY HELP?

I've purchased FOUR replacement cords now for my computer.   Each one, including the original, has developed the same problem.   It eventually won't connect to the wall outlet unless I jiggle it just right.  And then I have to make sure I don't jiggle or else the computer will come unplugged.  It eventually makes a sparking noise sometimes when I plug it in.   And sometimes I have even seen a spark.   This surely has to be a fire hazzard.   Does anyone else have this problem?   I wonder if Lenova shouldn't recall these cords.   These were all Lenova brand cords purchased through Best Buy.  I just bought my next replacement today, and I'm sure it will develop the same problem.

A year ago I bought a Lenovo Yoga 500 from a retailer in Greece. After three or four months it showed problems (like not powering up, or not starting up).I had it fixed at a verified service agent in Greece for Lenovo (CPI) with no further explanation ( but they also deleted all my files without warning - very unprofessional! ) without taking any responsibility for this. After five or six months, it showed the same problems again, so I gave it again to the same service store. They fixed it again. When they gave it back to me, there was a note: "The charger is from another Lenovo product and not from Lenovo Yoga 500 (it does not have grounding). The charger I have is similar to the following one: The details of charger is Model Number: ADLX65SDC2AOutput: 20V 3.25ANo groundingwhile my lenovo Yoga on the bottom it says 20V 2.25A I asked them, why don't they provide me with the correct charger, and their reply is that I have to speak with the retailer who sold me the netbook. So I went over to the store and asked them to solve the issue. Their reply was that they could not cover the insurance (2 years) on chargers, but only for notebook parts. After my arguments and my disagreement with their approach, they offered me two solutions:1) Either they will speak with CPI to find out what's going on or2) They will give me a new charger with a 40% cut on the price. I disagreed again, and finally they told me that they would unoficcialy swap my old charger with another one (used)... After being assured (by an otherwise seemingly well-informed Best Buy sales clerk) that it was compatible with my Yoga 730, I bought an Insignia NS-PWLC908 90W adapter for travel use. Turns out, it will only charge the Yoga if the computer is asleep, hibernating, or off. When I plug it in to the machine when it is awake, the Yoga does not charge and the power light does not illuminate. Bottom line, I can't work on the machine and charge it at the same time...which, as you might imagine, is....problematic. I believe the first time I plugged the Insignia in to the Yoga, there was a message about it being a higher wattage than the Yoga charged at...or that it wasn't delivering enough power?...and that the Yoga would not use it to charge. (I don't recall the exact wording, and just swapped out with the charger that came with the Yoga.) But that doesn't seem to explain why it will charge from the Insignia, just not when the Yoga is awake. FWIW the label on the Insignia lists its outputs as "5V @ 3A or 9V @ 3A or 15V @ 3A or 20V @ 4.5A".  Thanks for any answers anyone can provide!

Bought a Lenovo yoga 3 tablet 10 inch just over a year ago and for half of that the charger port has been very temperamental and has now stopped working totally . Have bought numerous chargers but in vain and was wondering if it would still be covered by any type of warranty ? I've had to resort to purchasing another tablet at a cost of Ģ60 until it's repaired which was ill affordable TBH
