I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,
Before I do anything I might regret I thought I'd run my problem through TSG and see if anyone might have a solution.

Pertinent Info:
My ISP is MSN
Dell Dimension 4400
Intel Pentium 4, 1600 MHz
256 MB system RAM
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400
Windows XP Home v:5.1.2600 SP 1.0
Internet Explorer v:6.0 SP1.0
Firefox 0.8
Note: Last night I upgraded my ZoneAlarm to version 5.0.
I made no changes to the original settings.
This is the first time I've checked my mail after the ZA upgrade.

I've used Outlook Express 6 for the past two years and it has been pretty much trouble free.

I have two MSN Hotmail accounts using OE.

Today, while attempting to receive mail (OE>Send/Receive) I received five (5) errors on one account....common to all five is Error number 0x800004005.

I Googled the error number and some of the suggested fixes are:

1) per M$ Knowledge Base Article-299496..."Corrupted .mbx file"
Rename Inbox.mbx to Inbox.old
Restart Outlook Express

2) (another link-not M$)....The pop3uidl.dat file is corrupted.
"Try deleting this file (with Outlook Express closed)".

I might mention also that between the two files I have the typical Server account: "http://oe.msn.msnmail.hotmail"
One of the error messages says:
Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP Server.
Protocol: HTTP mail
Port: 0
Secure (SSL)
No Socket Error: 12019
Error number 0x80004005

I would appreciate any help,
Thanks,
Telstar

gang I found an old post here that describes my situation, something I caused but don't know how to undo.
The system in question has Windows XP Professional, and MS Office 2000 Professional, the main reason for which is OUTLOOK. When Outlook cranks up it triggers an error message which is in my subject line:
"Outlook requires Microsoft Outlook Express 4.01 or greater....". The system of course also has OE6 on it which we don't use, but it does work etc.

The issue is me: I use autoruns to shut off everything non-mandatory, and, as another thread-poster identified, there is something in the list of goods that I have disabled that OE is dependent on, if I understand the old thread properly. The problem is that the poster [OP] in that thread said he found the key, but he didn't NAME THE ENTRIES
Thus, I dunno which ones he reversed that made the issue go away.

if anyone knows, pls let me know, so I can fix my goof.

thx
Z

When WIN XP atrts up, error reads: "spoolsv.exe - application error - Exception in privileged instructions at location 0x66f46798". Too high tech for me! Bypassing this, I, cannot print any messages (emails) in Outlook Express (or Outlook). Get error:
" Error line 1343" If I DO hit debug a yellow arrow points to a line that starts with a colon. I can probably copy and paste that line here if needed.
Comments: No spyware, no viruses, because of other problems , reverted back to IE6 (from 7).
Please note: Word and Excel docs all print fine. I can copy and paste the email into Word if necessary. Outllook sends and receives normally, it is only the print function failing.
In Add/Remove did a repair on Office 2003, nothing changed. Googled spoolsv.exe and some think it is a virus (I don't).
Another error that came up (once) was simply: "c:\program files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" If this file is missing, can I just copy it from another XP unit here and put it into place without further screwing up the works?
Any help appreciated - if further info needed (like a screen grab of the debug instructions) please advise.
Jim

A:Outlook and Outlook Express Print error messages

Delete Windows' temporary files using My Computer > (C:\) > right-click > Disk Cleanup and remove all except "Office Setup files" and "Compress old files" (Office setup used to maintain Office, Compress old takes to long).

After this is done on the "Tools" tab in the same area run Scandisk (restart required) followed by Defrag (after at least one complete restart) and see if the error condition clears up.

This all around, all purpose troubleshooting tip can sometimes resolve issues of an indeterminate origin. I checked Microsoft's Knowledge Base for "0x66" under "Outlook Express 6.0" and "All Products" and found nothing relevant. The Knowledge Base is at http://support.microsoft.com (FYI).

I would like to suggest you try the following steps to see what the result is:

1.
Disable the firewall temporarily for a test.
2.
 Try to disable IP v6.
How to disable IP version 6 (IPv6) or its specific components in Windows 7, in Windows Vista,
in Windows Server 2008 R2, and in Windows Server 2008
3.

Hello, before let you know about my problem, sorry about my english.
I have a serius problem with my Windows XP (not authentic). A few days ago something happens with my MSN, forced me to update my XP to Service Pack 2. Big problem because as I told you, my Win is not authentic (a copy). I found a program to validate my XP and I could install the service pack2 without any problem, but when I restart my pc gives me this fatal error, "One problem not allow Windows to check the validation of the licence on this pc. Codigo de error: 0x80004005". Of course, I don't want to format the hard disk. I can't restart in a safe way eather.

Note: I have another partition on this hard disk, with windows installed and running normally, so I can see the other part with my Windows Explorer.

If someone can help me, I will very happy.
Thank you very mich for your time

Received the following error when trying to send out emails. I am also unable to delete any messages:

An Outlook Express store file may be damaged. Please use a utility such as ScanDisk to verify and repair any damaged files. Protocol: SMTP, Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800C0155

I used the following fix from a previously posted question but it did not work:

Windows XP:

Open My Computer,
Tools > Folder Options > View tab,
under Hidden Files and Folders, verify Show Hidden Files and Folders is selected.
Remove the checkmark for Hide Extensions for known file types.

Search:

Start > Search > For Files or Folders > All files and folders,
In the field for: all or part of the file name
Key in:
.dbx
Below that, click on More advanced options
in the field: Type of File, select (All Files and Folders)
place a checkmark in:
Search system folders
Search hidden files and folders
Search subfolders
click Search

With Outlook Express closed
Locate the Folders.dbx file and rename it to: Folders.old

Restart Outlook Express, a new Folders.dbx file will be created.

Keep your Inbox empty, move messages you want to keep to folders of your own creation in Outlook Express.

Any other ideas???

A:Outlook Express 6.0 error

Try this,

If you are at home and NOT on an exchange server close Outlook.
Go to the Mail item in the control panel.
You should see your list of accounts.
Click on each one and hit Properties and uncheck the box that says something about send/receive on this account always.
If you know which account the message was sent from, "disable" only that account.
This keeps Outlook from immediately sending and receiving, which will allow you the chance to delete the message.
Alternatively, it may be an incoming message.
In this case, you may need to contact your ISP's mail administrator, or if you have web-based email access, go there and delete
the message

Sorry if this ends up as a duplication. I started it once and had to restart the machine.

Lately some incoming e-mails download to "deleted items" instead if "inbox" on both of a two computer hard wired network. The e-mail client is Outlook Express. The server is Comcast. Both machines run Windows XP home ed.

I have checked "message rules" and "blocked senders" and I see nothing that seems to relate to my problem. Per other advice I went to Control Panel and clicked "Add/Remove Windows components" which is supposed to repair Outlook Express but I see no difference.

The e-mails are not all from the same sender and are sometimes from family members. Sorry to say we also get some very persistent spam which has been unstoppable but even it sometimes ends up in deleted items (most appropriately) but that is another story.

Does anyone have ANY clue what this problem might be and what might be done to cure it, please? Many thanks in advance. AlexS

A:Outlook Express error

AlexS,

On the surface it appears there is a "spam filter" at work here. You do not state specifically whether you have one or not. Another question I'd ask is what AV and firewall configurations you might be running? Those are the first places I'd look at. If all those come up negative for conflicts. I'd be guessing after that, without more information.

A:Outlook Express error help.

Hi th0m0-6,

The most common reasons for that error are:

1: Incorrect account settings. Are you also having problems sending mail?

2: A problem at your ISP's server that may clear itself up. You can contact them to see if they are having a problem and can help.

3: Your Anti-Virus and/or Firewall is blocking your connection.
For the Firewall, make sure OE has permission to access the Internet.
For the AV, turn of the E-mail scanner. This is especially important if you have Norton AV or McCaffee. Both are known to cause this problem.

Those are the best places to start.

To check your incoming mail, log into your mailbox at Iprimus.
You can do all your E-mail there while trying to get OE straightened out.

T.

Just thought of one other thing to check.
You might have a corrupt E-mail sitting at the server.
When you go to the mailbox at the ISP, either delete or move everything out of the Inbox.
If there is a message there that won't move or delete, have the ISP delete it.

do you have Norton System Works - does that say anything's wrong when you run WinDoctor?? If you can you need to uninstall it completely and then let System Works do it's magic and then download Outlook Express again and install it. while you're at it, if you're using WIN98, do a Window's update from your start menu. If you can you should also try to just get ahold of Outlook 2000 and use that instead - it's much better. whatever the problem is, i'm sure it will run away if you attack it this hard.

I am trying to send emails with attachments using OE 6 and when I add an attachment I get an error stating "Message could not be sent. Error has occured!"

I have tried attaching the document or picture (neither one works) from the paper clip and from the inset button at the top and get the same error. I am able to open attachments that are received from someone else without any problem.

I think my problem is possibly a .dll file. OK so that is just a guess - thing is, I installed mcAfee about 2 weeks ago and it is set to scan the computer and when it finds something a pop up comes up in the corner asking what you want to do. I have used the option to "continue what I was doing" but I know my husband and daughter had said that they used the option to "remove this pup" or "find out more information" and may have done something in there.

THe other thing that leads me to believe someone has messed with this is that when I reboot the computer I get the popups right away saying that it cannot find certain files. one is listed as E6F1873B.dll and another one that is stlb2.dll - i think there is another one also but I dont' have that written down.

SO does this sound familiar to anyone? can anyone help here? anything would be greatly appreciated.

This happens when I try to check a webbased e-mail that has pop access. It last happened two hours ago. It happened with one e-mail address, then it stopped. Now its happening again, but with a different account. I CAN check this e-mail with some of my webbased e-mail accounts, but most of the time, I prefer to use Outlook Express.

Any ideas?

I'm not really sure of the version.....it said 5.50.4522.1200
This only happens when I check this one account, all others work fine.

Hello,

I am recieving this error in Outlook Express 6:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'Cliffhucker', Server: 'pop.earthlink.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

*I have been using OE w/ this setup for years.
*I am using Windows XP Pro SP2.
*I have my Outlook Express set to Send &Recieve every minute.
*I do not get the error on every transmission.
*If I do get the error, usually by the next S&R I do not get it.
*I have 2 accounts set up in Outlook Express
****It mostly happens to the DEFAULT ACCOUNT. whether it be the first or second to get checked during S&R. I have tried either account as default and it is the account which usually gets the error!

I have been using this article as a guide to resolving the issue:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813514

It lists these as possible causes:
? Incorrect account settings
? Misconfiguration of personal firewall software
? Antivirus software
? A bad modem
? Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) size
? Outlook Express has been removed from the computer or the installation is damaged
? Your user profile in Outlook is damaged
? An e-mail item on your POP3 server is damaged

I have tried:
+Reentering all account settings
+disabling my antivirus
+called hughes net to make sure my modem was ok

Whenever I go into Outlook Express, I immediately get an error that says: "MSIMN caused an invalid page fault in module INETCOMM.DLL. Can anyone help, since I am unable to get any emails because of this.
Not sure how I'll even know if there is a response to this now...just have to keep checking back here.
Thanks.

Put your win95/98 cd in whichever you have.
Click start, run, and type sfc. Click ok, then click where it says extract one file from installation disk. Type intercomm.dll and click start. Click browse next to restore from. Double click d: or whatever your cdrom drive is, then click win95 or 98 whichever you have. Then click ok. Click browse next to save file in. Double click c:, windows, system. Click ok. It should ask to backup the file. Choose no. If it doesn't ask, it should say extracted one file from installation disk. If it did, then try opening outlook again.

Welcome!

A socket error 10061 most likely means you have some sort of firewall/router issue blocking port 110. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;q191687

Try to disable any anti-virus/security software you have running, Norton, Mcafee, ZoneAlarm, and give it a try. You may have to configure port 110 in the firewall to allow the packets to be sent through.

If it is just an intermittent problem, the issue may lie with your email provider's server not allowing you to connect. This might be because of sending too many messages in a certain timeframe or something along those lines.

Give it a try and post back with your results.

Hi All,
My laptop is running XP with sp2 installed. I use Outlook express to send and receive email and have the account syncronized with my Hotmail account. When I send a message it should go via my Hotmail, however more often than not I get the following message

"Access to the account was denied. Verify that your username and password are correct. Account: 'Hotmail', Server:, Protocol: Mail, Server Response: 'Forbidden', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC33"

The only way I have found to send the message is to close down Outlook, open Hotmail (which then demands I type in the scrambled code), then open every folder, refreshing a couple as I go.
When I open Outlook again, the item is in the sent or the out folder.

I have no idea why this is happening, it has only been like this for a couple of weeks now......HELP.

I get the following error intermittently while downloading my mail from Mindspring. It doesn't finish downloading my mail, then it crashes. I don't get this error on any of my other accounts.
MSIMN.EXE caused fault #c0000005 in (Unknown) at address 0177:00000000

Can anyone tell me how to fix this. I've tried re-installing, deleting all of my DBX folders, and I've checked for the Happy Virus even though I was sure I didnt' have it. I keep my NAV definitions up to date.I'm still getting the error about every other time that I check my mail when it has more than just a few messages.

I know I know, my problem is that I stil use Microsoft Express... but bare with me this time!

"Outlook Express has encountered a problem" blah blah...

Modname: msoert2.dll

I get a Send Error Report from Microsoft when I try to open my Outlook Express. Then of course, it doesn't open.

I can find nothing anywhere I search for answers to this.

If any additional information is needed, please don't hesistate to ask, as I would greatly appreciate a quick fix to this error. It just started coming up today. No new programs have been installed. It was working fine last night when I shut down the office, then today when I open up, it doesn't work.

I am running IE 6

I can get online fine but when I click send/receive messages I get this error:

An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'Mail', Server: 'pop.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x80004005

I was on the phone with ATT tech support last night and they led me to knowledgebase for this error. I did exactly what it said....NOTHING.

Kept looking and found where I was supposed to look for .mbx and rename .mbx old. I did that... all my inbox messages are gone. I closed Email and reopened. I am still getting the error message.

When I search for .mbx in hidden files/folders there is no file.

I went back to a sys restore to Wednesday, that also didn't work.

Is there any way to repair the inbox?

Thanks!!
