T530 - battery status "plugged in, charging" but it not charging.

Q: T530 - battery status "plugged in, charging" but it not charging.

Old battery looks dead and i have bought new one. First time I've got compatible battery and got message "The battery installed is not supported by this system and will not charge...". Next battery I got - 45N1004, looks original. I installed the battery and got yellow, rarely blinking battery sign on top of laptop. Windows 10 reporting that battery OK, adapter "plugged in, charging", but it is not charging. Battery is not pretty new (2015/12), but it's not used and AIDA64 reports good state of battery. Should I go to the service with my T530 or is there another solution?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A few days ago, I upgraded my HP Pavillion from Windows 8 to Windows 10. After the download, my laptop was entirely dead so I charged it. My laptop worked completely fine before the download. The next day, I noticed my laptop wont charge. The status of the battery says ?plugged in, not charging?. I shut down my computer and restarted it with the same result. I then searched the HP forums and uninstalled the driver and again, restarted my computer. This didn?t work either. I tried different wall sockets and even attempted to take out the battery but the back cover of my laptop wont come off. I called HP Support and the gentleman on the line was extremely rude to me. I couldn?t understand his thick accent and I had a hard time understanding my case number, as I am dyslexic, and he seemed to get irritated when I asked him to speak slower. He spoke very slowly and told me that I was stupid. Frustrated, I hung up. My problem is still not solved and I am confined to the wall and I cant unplug my laptop without it shutting down on me. Please Help!

I received my new P72 a few days ago. It would not power up on just the battery so I plugged in the power supply that came with it (230 Watt) and it started right up. The battery gauge in the taskbar showed "0% available (plugged in, charging)".  It was like that for the next day and a half while I continued setting it up with everything from the old P70. The P72 was attached to AC for over 24 hours by that time.I eventually got to Lenovo Vantage and followed some leads in the forum about resetting the battery status to more accurately reflect the status.  I initiated the 'Battery Gauge Reset' from Lenovo Vantage and this screenshot (I manually added the text from the taskbar icon in the black rectangle to the screenshot...)  didn't change for four hours. I hit the red 'Stop' button and continued scanning the forum.I disconnected the battery and reconnected it with no change to the "0% available (plugged in, charging)" for a few hours. I thought that the connection 'seated' a little better but I'm not sure. I unchecked the "Airplane Power Mode" selections in Lenovo Vantage (hint from the forum). No change.  Then I disabled the "Battery Charge Threshold" setting. No change.  I added a second 'power plan' (High performance) to the 'Balanced' plan and selected the new one (can only run on AC anyway). No Change.I had already applied all Windows (Windows Pro 1809) and Lenovo updates.  Lenovo Vantage had found and installed these updates:I could not fi... Read more

I have a Lenovo Flex 1580, and even though the charging status shows that the charger is plugged in, and is charging, the battery is not really charging. The battery is stuck at the same point. I checked Lenovo Vantage to make sure that I am not in Conservation Mode, and even though I am not, the battery is not charging. It is stuck at whatever percentage I plug in the charger. Earlier the percentage went up to 59% before stopping, and then when I unplugged the charger and plugged it back in, it is not moving past 52%. My BIOS is updated as well

Hello and peace on you..
I have a DELL Inspiron N5110 from early 2011
I was using the laptop correctly..The laptop was plugged in and the battery was charging..Then i removed the charger let the laptop on battery until suddenly the laptop shuts down without even telling me that the battery is low or even leaving some "emergency" charge on it (usually 7% or 5% i don't know)..I plugged it in to charge it again and open my leptop and i found out that the battery is not taking charge anymore!
I tried to see if the propblem is with the connector and tried to remove and put in again the charger and it ddid not work
i tried also to remove the battery and put it in again, it did not help
Now it is stuck on 2% of charge from 5 days and it's plugged in!
The laptop says that the battery is charging, but actually it is not charging and the charge level is the same from days
I looked up some solutions online like uninstalling ACPI microsof from Device manager and reboot the laptop..It did not work
"Jauge de batterie" which is an integrated software related to DELL, says that the battery health is good and that my battery is working properly
The laptop works fine with only the charger plugged in and battery out
PS: the laptop heats usually but i think it did not affect the battery at all since it was working fine and the charge took me about at minimum 30 min on high performance to be emptyed before this happens.
Please, i'm seeking for help
I hope you can ... Read more

A:Battery says: Charging, but it is not actually charging while plugged in and is stuck in 2% for 5 days !

First thing to check is wherther the sysetm recognizes the AC adapter - F2 at powerup to check that.
If it doesn't, try a new Dell OEM AC adapter - if that doesn't fix the issue, replace the DC jack board, and if that doesn't solve it, the mainboard.  Note:  you MUST use a Dell adapter - NOT a third party unit.
If the system DOES recognize the AC adapter, but won't charge the battery, chances are the battery is bad and will need to be replaced.
You cannot solve the issue without checking and, if necessary, replacing these parts.

Hi ! Over the past two weeks I've spent my time troubleshooting why my recently (used) bought X240 is not charging the internal battery. Short timeline: 1. Bought used X240 in good condition but with dead internal and external battery - working well when using power supply.2. Came home and tested that thing -> both batteries show "0% - not charging" (with Win10Pro installed) *suprise, surprise*3. Ordered both new internal and external battery.4. External battery came 1.5 weeks ago. Installed it and worked like a charm (Battery 2 (external): X%, charging).5. Internal battery came the day before yesterday. Installed it and did not work -> "Battery 1: 53% - plugged in, charging - Battery 2: 6% - plugged in, not charging)6. Waited the recommended 6-12 hours like it was written in the "manual" to get it fully charged.7. Next morning -> Batterystatus unchanged (see point 5) ... It's stuck at 53%. Though the status says it's charging, it doesn't.8. Simply tried out what's going to happen when I pull the cable of the power supply -> Notebook instant off *hmmm*9. As the external battery was obviously blocked from charging by the internal (as it was not charged), I've taken out the internal battery again and et voila, external battery is charging again.I've tried to remove both batteries and perform the "Magic Trick" (press the main power switch for 30 secs) and I've also pushed the "reset" switch on the backside near the battery. Sadly without any result ;-(... Read more

My Lenovo G50-30 laptop has suddenly developed a funny problem.  When battery charger is introduced while laptop is on it says "plugged in but not charging" and battery keeps reducing, however battery charges when laptop is switched off. The problem has started happening from approx a 3-4 weeks back. My battery was under warranty and was replaced by Lenovo authorised center Jogeswari (West), Mumbai, India BUT still issue reamins the same.  Service center installed a software called OKO care which randomly allowed charging three times while laptop was ON. However this also did not permanently solve my problem and returned back to same issue hence un-installed software. Then had tried couple of other lenovo softwares (vantage, forgot name of anotehr one) but in vain.  Pls organise immediate help as I have exams starting September 19, 2019 and need laptop very badly for preparing and cant afford to switch off to recharge. Thank you in advance. FYI - There is no capping not to charge beyond 55-60% to safeguard battery. I have Windows 10 (64 bit OS), initial OS which came along with laptop was Windows 8.1 which automatically got upgraded to Windows 10. My laptop is always kept on auto update hence all latest updates are installed. I do not allow any unnecessary software installation.

A:Lenovo G50-30 Battery charging issue - "plugged in but not charging"

That sounds suspiciously like the laptop is in Airport Mode, which if enabled will prevent it from charging when on, yet charge when off, just like you describe.  You can find out via a command promptRight click on start and select Command Prompt (Admin)  -or- Windows PowerShell (Admin)  depending on your system configuration. At the prompt type:  powercfg /getactivescheme    and press EnterIf it comes back with something similar to the image below showing (Airplane) as the active scheme,  then that is likely the culprit. Click on Image to expandIf you find that it is enabled, at the same command prompt window type:  control powercfg.cpl   and press Enter to open the Power control panel applet, and then check to see if Airplane Mode is set as your current power plan. As a last resort, you can also type:  powercfg ?restoredefaultschemes  to reset the Windows power schemes to their default settings.  Best of luck,

So at random, the laptop will stop charging and simply says 'plugged in, not charging'. Are there more permanent solutions than going into BIOS and disabling built-in battery? I'd hate for this to be a returning issue (this is the 2nd time this occurs). Thanks for any suggestions! I've browsed the fora and know also of some other solutions, but I'm not satisfied with having to solve something like this more than once. What if I don't notice it, and someday have to run out with 40% battery left? Not desirable, specially given the price of these laptops.

Hi,
I have a dell xps 12, bought in 2012. Recently the battery stopped charging. The battery shows 0%, so I have to be plugged in to turn the laptop on. When it is on, the battery icon on the task bar says "plugged in, charging" but after a day it is still 0%.
Since then I bought a new battery. Just fitted it, but now the battery icon on the task bar says "plugged in, not charging". Furthermore, when I Fn+F3 to show the battery meter, it says "battery charging diabled". There is no option here to turn battery charging on. Nor is there an option to enable battery charging in BIOS.
BIOS does show battery performing normally, so does the battery meter (Fn+F3). BIOS also shows AC adapter as 45W, which is the original adapter.
Any help is appreciated!

The battery charges perfectly in the other laptop but not in my laptop. When swithcing the batteries form the other pc it will not charge in my PC. bot both are fine in the other PC. I have removed the battery, checked power supply, un-installed and reinstalled the ACPI-complaint and adapter as suggested by most. I have done what ever solution i can have managed to find but neither have worked but the battery works  just fine when inserting into the other duplicate laptop and charges fine. I have tried to instal or upgrade BIOS settings etc. Nothing has worked for me! Please can someone point me in the correct direction!!!!!! Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Need Help!

The problem started from June 2, 2015 about 4 AM (UTC +8:00 Philippine, Manila)

I open my Notebook that morning to check on my e-mails and bills at gmail but it's not powering up. At first I thought that the battery was slightly drained because I saw my sister still using it at midnight. I asked her if she did not plugged in the charger when it is nearly drained but she said she plugged it and it is still full when she shut it down.

It is Li-ion Battery

I tried plugging in the charger to check whether it still has remaining battery. It powered up.
On the taskbar/notifications/running apps it says 8% Available (Plugged In, Charging).
So to check out the problem, I left it turned off charging for about two hours.

Then after two hours it still says 8% Available (Plugged In, Charging)
What the hell is this?! I asked my self.
I installed an app to check the status of the battery (Battery Bar)
Battery Bar says something like this:
Capacity: 2K of 8K mWh (not sure about this)
Charging: 0 mW
Running on AC
7.9% Available
Something like that.

Summary Notes:
1. Does not power up without Charger
2. It detects the Battery saying 8% Available (Plugged In, Charging)
3. Though Plugged In, Charging it does not charge at all because of 0 mW charge rate
4. It turns off when the Charger is plugged out.
5. It still run even without the Battery (when the Charger was plugged in of course, then a red x mark shows in the notification taskbar battery icon)

Thus:
1. The problem is som... Read more

Can someone help me with this problem? So I just received my brand new Dell Inspiron 15 3000 and the battery is not charging. It says it's "Plugged In, Charging" but it never goes up and stays at 0%. At first I thought I just need to plug it in for several hours but it's been 5 hours now and still the battery stays at 0%. I tried running the BIOS Diagnostics just to see if there are problems and there's none. The battery status says everything is running normally and the Battery State says it's Idle. I tried draining the flea power several times, removing and reattaching the battery, but to no avail. I'm getting really frustrated and I'm really close to throwing this laptop back to Dell.
I read somewhere that I have to update the BIOS but it won't update unless the battery is charged at least 10%. Someone also suggested that Windows 8.1 is causing the problem. I haven't even started using this laptop and it's already giving me a *** ton of problems. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks guys! :)

The battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery after it was calibrated using one key. Before that, the battery was working perfectly, lasting close to 5 hours. Now the laptop shuts off when unplugged and the battery status is constantly changing. I've had this laptop for approximately a year now and it was unused and left in an unopened box for the first 8 months.

A:Battery is plugged in, not charging -0 % available

The problem is with the adapter, DC jack or mainboard - replace the parts one at a time until the problem is solved.
As long as there's no evident damage (broken wires on the plug, broken DC jack) the warranty should cover the problem.
If there is evidence of damage - broken wires, broken jack, physical damage to the system -- Dell will deny warranty coverage as it'll be considered accidental damage.
If you need parts references we'll need to know what model system it is (i.e., Inspiron 5537, XPS L501x, etc.).

HP pav. 13 x360. Windows 10 Had the plugged in not charging error with a CMOS error at boot up and then it would take 5min to boot and then it would run fine. Got it in under warranty and they changed the battery out. 4 months later the error has occurred again. As before I tried all the basic troubleshooting from reinstalling/updating drivers to flashing the BIOS to reinstalling windows and it still would not charge. Took it apart this time as it is out of warranty, pulled the battery, cleaned out all the connectors and am currently checking for possible short sites, but I rebooted the laptop without the batter and still got the CMOS error but it booted immediately. I am going to do more troubleshooting, but I do not know what this CMOS error is if the battery is out of the machine. What am I missing? Thanks in advance. Please help. Wife is not happy without laptop.

A:plugged in not charging with new battery

> Got it in under warranty and they changed the battery out. Which battery did HP replace? A "CMOS error" means that the (small) battery on the motherboard has failed to keep "trickling" enough power to the CMOS chip to enable the CMOS to retain its settings.  This battery is distinct from the "main" removable battery that fits into the laptop. Some computers have "power" settings to maximize battery-life.  This may include not automatically charging the battery up to 100%, if you usually use the computer on AC power.  So, this may trigger the "plugged-in-not-charging" message, but it does increase the life of the battery. > rebooted without the battery, and still got the CMOS error Definitely, it's the "small" battery on the motherboard that is not working.Contact HP, to see if they will admit that they changed the "wrong" battery.

I cant use my laptop unless plugged in... There is no battery left at all and it wont charge...
I have tried to update BIOS but I couldnt because I got a message that the battery needs to be at least 10% charged.
I have confirmed that the charger gives the required volatge, so the charger is fine..
I have no idea if there is something wrong with the battery cz it passed the online dell test..and I dont want to buy a new battery for no reason.
So I have no idea whats wrong to fix it...
any ideas?

A:Battery 1% available (plugged in, not charging)

Please list Dell model number and version of windows. Ex: Dell Inspiron 3543, windows 10
In the meantime, please check status of AC adapter in the BIOS. If adapter isn't detected in BIOS, the system will continue to received power but will not charge the battery. Please follow steps below:
1. Power off system.
2. Power on system, quickly start tapping F2 key continuously. You should be in the BIOS. The status of adapter usually listed under the main screen.
The adapter should say the adapter type, if it says 'Unknown' or 'None', then it's a issue with the adapter, and most likely needs to replace with a Dell genuine adapter that suitable for the system. Note: Wiggle the adapter's end while checking it in the BIOS

Hi, I found a lot of answers on the topic but unfortunately none resolved it. So it's simple - the charger is not charging beyond 44% and recently it increased to 48%, and it says "not charging". Battery health is good, I updated the bios, reinstalled both battery drivers multiple times in multiple ways. I am using windows 10, desktop and longevity options for battery are disabled. Only thing I didn't try yet is turning off computer, battery out for 2-3h, etc. due to not having clear steps on how to perform it + would like to know if it's needed.
Appreciate the help! Thanks

Since just after the warranty ran out my laptop has been unable to charge properly, instead saying plugged in, not charging. I used to be able to fix this if i took out the battery, restarted and replaced it, then it would work properly for maybe a day or two then would happen again. I did a bios update which fixed it for about a week but then it went straight back to plugged in not charging. I've tried taking the battery out and doing another bios update, however neither have worked. Is there any way to fix this without having to buy a new battery?

HiI had bought this HP Model 11-N010TU Processor Brand Intel Processor Type Quad Core Processor Model N3520 Processor Speed (GHz) 2.16 Processor Max Speed (GHz) 2.42 Installed RAM 8GB RAM Type DDR3 on Dec-2014. The battery has been working great until last week where it starts giving plugged in, not charging with 0% remaining. I had tried to plug in directly to different wall socket but yielding same results. Troubleshooting carried out:1. I had run HP Battery check on HP Support Assistant and it gave healthy battery status. 2. So the next step is I went to a local shop to try and plug in and try with brand new power supply unit suggested by the technician. The results were the same with plugged in not charging error message. 3. I had tried the extensive hardware check by pressing Esc, f2 prior booting into windows and it gave all good results. 4. I had open up the cover dismantle the battery socket to the motherboard and plug that in again by hoping it could reset the battery but it doesn't help. Any suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I've even tried switching batteries. The computer does run only on AC power if I remove the battery. Anyone have ideas on what else I can try? Thanks
