I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I have some issues after upgrading my Carbon X1 5th to Windows 10 1803 published yesterday from Windows Update.I have installed the update this morning and everything seems to be ok, but this afternoon my computer has frozen :- My screen seems to be normal with mouse icon and my apps.- Mouse icon was moving normally.- But :* if I click somewhere, no reaction of the computer.* Ctrl ALt Del wasn't more responsive. The only way that I have find is to hard shutdown the computer. After the shutdown, computer is working normally during  variable time from a few minutes to several hours before a new freeze. I have already try the previous Candidate Windows 1803 version (Build 17133.1)  and I had the same issues. The only workaround that I have found is to remove the update. I'm using the Lenovo Windows image from the recovery tool.Have someone else the same issue ? Thank you.

About three weeks ago I upgraded BIOS on my laptop (as suggested by Lenovo Vantage) to latest version (N14ET45W (1.24), 3/01/2018). I am running Windows 10 64 bit. Shortly after that I started suffering quite frequent momentary freezing events where I had to wait between 10 to 40 seconds for the machine to continue working. During this period many of the running apps were closed and then reopened and I could not type or do any other thing. As you can imagine, this turned to be quite frustrating. I started searching at several forums, mainly Windows 10 related forums for a solution. U tried every possible solution, from updating all drivers to editing Registry etc. with no positive results at all. I was finally considering a full reimage of my machine when my latest resource turned to be rolling back my BIOS, as after checking on dates it seemed my suffering started shortly after my latest Lenovo Vantage drivers and BIOS update. Accordingly, I rolled Back from indicated BIOS to N14ET45W (1.23), 2/28/2018.Voila! This was the required solution. After that, my machine has been running smoothly, with no freezing events.Hope I had found a solution at any forum, and that?s why I am sharing this information here, as I really spent almost three weeks of frustration and unsuccessful searching/testing. I think Lenovo should test better and BIOS release. Hope my post may help other X1 Carbon 3rd Gen with a similar issue. DO NOT UPGRADE BIOS TO version (N14ET45W (1.24), 3/01/2018!!... Read more

Hello guys: I have Windows 10 ver 1709 on my laptop which is working great. I have tried instaling Windows 10 ver 1803 two times already (with one month gap) on my laptop without success. When it finishes installing and reboots the computer, it never recovers from it. I see a black screen where mouse is enabled and nothing else. Both times, I have reverted back to version 1709. I have checked Lenovo's portal for my computer and I dont see any software/driver upgrades that I need that were released in the last 180 days. Can anyone tell me if I need to upgrade any driver before trying the upgrade? I have the following specs: Product: 20378BIOS: 9ECN43WW(V3.03)

I recently did a full wipe and  reinstall of my PC which coincided with the update to the latest version of Windows 10 Now I find I get periods of terrible keyboard lag (lost characters or sometimes double characters) and sometimes my mouse slows down. Everything else works fine - and the PC (A Thinkcentre M93) is fully responsive, it's usually just the keyboard input that's affected. I've tried a different keyboard and the same thing happens. I'm not low on resources and the only pattern I've seen is that it seems to affect the USB 3.0 ports, not the USB 2.0 port. When I plugged my Wifi in the USB 3 port I kept getting disconnected and losing connectivity. I'm guessing the problem is with the USB ports but what do I do? I've run the Lenovo update utility - none available. Am I better downgrading my drivers and if so, which ones (the chipset drivers?) I've not seen similar reports from anyone else so it must be something on my system! Rob

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad P50 laptop that I have been using with an external Dell Ultra HD 4K Monitor P2415Q running with a resolution of 3840x2160 @ 60HZ using DisplayPort.  Initially the laptop was running Windows 10 version 1607. Under this version of Windows 10 the external display worked properly regardless if the BIOS ?Graphics Device? setting was set to ?Hybrid  Graphics? or ?Discrete Graphics.? Unfortunately, since Windows 10 now forces updates when new versions are released I was not able to stay on this version. When Windows 10 updated itself to version 1709 using the external monitor described above stopped working. When the external monitor was plugged in (both DisplayPort and HDMI) it would briefly display an image and then go black. The Nvidia display adapter would then show as not working in the Device Manager. I spent  a significant amount of time working with Lenovo technical support uninstalling and re-installing drivers etc. Nothing worked, I was still not able to use the external monitor. After some further experimenting I found that I could get the external monitor to work if I set the BIOS ?Graphics Device? setting to ?Discrete Graphics.? It would not work with the BIOS set to ?Hybrid Graphics.? Last week Windows updated itself to version 1803 and the external display problems have returned with some additional incorrect behaviors. As I stated in the previous paragraph under version 1709 the external monito... Read more

Hello,For a couple of weeks I have been struggling to get the 1803 update of Win10 installed on my X1 6th gen.The update fails with error code 0x8007001F. I followed the guidelines on https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-windows_install/windows-10-1803-upgrade... but to no avail. Anti-virus software is already deinstalled. I also downloaded an ISO file using the media creator and tried to install from there, but again: without success. Durnig the update, the laptop reboots a couple of times and then all of a suddent you see a message that the old version is being restored and I'm back at where I left. I found some error log containing the message below:0x8007001F - 0x20006The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during REPLICATE_OC operation Any ideas to help me out are highly appreciated

I have an X1 carbon 6th with Dolby Vision HDR screen and this function worked well until I upgraded the operation system to 1803 several days before. I have tried uninstalling the monitor driver, intel display driver and Lenovo SIP driver completely and then reinstalling them all with the newest version downloaded from the official site, now I can see the ChromaTune menu by right-click my mouse on the desktop but whatever I choose there is nothing changed. How can I fix this problem? I saw an old thread talking about this suggesting re-installing the SIP driver and the problem would be solved but definitily it doesn't work. Is there anything I am wrong or should I just wait for another update in future?

Hello! My 720S-13ARR was upgraded from 1703 (it came with that OS) over 1709 to 1803 now. I don't know whether this error occures only after the update to 1803, but when the device goes to standby mode (either after some time or manually triggered in the startmenu) it does not resume from this. The power light is on, but the screen remains black.Because I suspected some drivers might be messed up after three upgrades (or might simply not be compatible) I downloadad 1803 64bit and did a clean install. It found all drivers itself, so I did not use the ones provided by Lenovo for 1709. But the problem persists.Bios is 29WW.Any help/suggestions?ThanksMoriarty

I also tried cleaning up the recovery disk but with no luck. Thoughts?

Hi guys,
troubles started only after the upgrade to Windows 10 and I frankly tried to ignore the 1-2 BSOD's per day as I'm working 10h+ and still with deadlines in tow.
Lately the BSOD's hit more often and from different reasons: Kernel Security Check Failure, IRQL not less or equal, Memory Management...
I already ran all kinds of hardware tests, everything seems to be fine.
Please note that the SysnativeFileCollection is a .rar inside a .zip as the file was too big.
PLEASE help,

Help! I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon 5th Gen (model 20HRC) that's about three months old. I've successfully used it with an Anker USB 3.0 hub that offers an Ethernet port and three USB 2.0 ports. After upgrading to Windows 10 build 1709 in October, the Anker Ethernet connection is no longer detected when I insert the USB C connctor. Neither port works. If I put a USB memory key into the Anker hub, it is not recognized, either. The same USB memory key is recognized if I insert it into the USB 2.0 connector on the right hand side of the laptop. When I connect my phone to the USB C connector, it is not recognized, either. The Anker USB Hub and my phone are both recognized when I connect them to my other laptop, so I have no reason to believe they're defective. Before I call Lenovo for support, what else can I check?

I have a 4th gen 2016 X1 Carbon 20FB002LUS that I didnt realize when buying that it came with Windows 7 installed. I can upgrade to Windows 10. I downloaded/installed the Lenovo Windows 10 USB Recovery tool and have Windows 10 on a USB drive ready to be installed. My questions concerns MS Office. The laptop came with Office installed already, I did not activate it. If I upgrade to Win10 will Office be installed as well? I did have to input the serial number of the laptop during this process so I would assume what was put onto the USB drive contains Office as well. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks so much.

Hi All,
I have recently upgraded my pc from AMD to Intel.
However since doing so I have experienced freezing of my PC sometimes it turns itself off and other times it just freezes. This usually happens after about 10 mins. I have the latest bios and drivers installed from the relevant websites. I have tried reinstalling windows to no avail. However the one time it hasn't frozen I managed to run AIDA64 for an hour with CPU temp maxing at 54C, therefore I don't believe my CPU is overheating, however after an hour I decided to stop this test in the hope that I could run another, however my PC froze straight after stopping the test which is odd?
Here are my specs;
Motherboard: Msi x99 sli plus
CPU: Intel i7 5820k (OEM)
RAM: Crucial ballistic sport DDR4 1x8GB STICK 2400MHz (running at 1200MHz due to single channel)
GPU: XFX R9 290X
PSU: corsair hx850
Boot drive: Sandisk 60GB SSD
The only thing I could think of would be only having one stick of ram which is therefore running in single channel at 1200MHz?
I will post Aida64 screenshots when I finish work
Anything that you think will help let me know I will post it

A:Computer freezing after hardware upgrade

1.  Open the case and make sure the heatsink is securely attached to the processor.  If not sure, reattach it.
2.  Remove and reinsert the RAM.
3.  Try different RAM.  The stick could be bad or (strangely) incompatible. 2400 MT/s is over clocked.  You could try 2133 MT/s DDR4 if you have any on hand.  Also, After testing, DDR4 is faster with 4 sticks of RAM.
4.  Check the SATA cable connection to the hard drive.  (Or test the machine without the hard drive attached to rule it out).
(I googled the motherboard.  The memory is supported if it is: MSI X99S XPOWER AC LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99.)

I have a new X1 Carbon 6th Gen and just upgraded to Windows 10 version 1809 (October 2018) and read on Lenovo Support that they strongly recommend installing Intel Graphics Driver Version or newer noting that not having the the updated driver may result in excessive processor demand and reduced battery life. The latest Intel Graphics Driver Version available for this computer is when I did a systems update through Lenovo Vantage (with UHD Graphics 620).    Will the computer run ok with the current driver and when will an updated driver be available?

Since I have an HP computer, I've been reading the coverage on how the lasted Windows update conflicts with the HP keyboard drive. Unfortunately, I'm just not clear on what I should be doing at this point.

Here are my particulars (and please let me know if there are other particulars I should provide):

Per Windows Update: (1) version 1803 is installed, (2) KB4100347 is "pending install", and (3) KB4462919 is downloading (but appears to be stuck at 0%).

Per Device Manager, my current keyboard driver is 10.0.17134.1. (If I understand correctly, one of the Windows Updates installs HP keyboard driver version, which is incompatible in some way and triggers a BSOD.)

It looks like KB4468304 contains a fix. I've manually downloaded that update from the MS website (the x64 version since I have a 64-bit machine), but I've not tried to installed it.

So at this point, I'm not clear whether I should reboot, not reboot in hopes of another MS update push, execute the fix file and rebooting, or take some other action. (Btw, the "pause updates" option in the Advanced Options of Windows Update is grayed out. I'm guessing because the system is still trying to download an update.) I'd sure welcome some sage advice here!

I recently built my first PC three days ago...
i7 bloomfield 960 processor
4x4 vengeance ram
crosair hx850 PSU
evga x58 ftw3 mobo
hd 6870 radeon graphics xfx

When I first installed windows it started to work just fine but I soon noticed that it would randomly freeze every 15-30 minutes of use, but not on a particular program or anything. I assumed it was drivers so I installed the latest drivers for my GPU and MOBO and keyboard. It seemed fine again until it started crashing again. I ran a GPU burn test and a CPU burn test it passed both... (I tried runing memtest86+ but it froze at like 12%) Then I tried fixing the registry so I downloaded ccleaner and fixed the registry problems. Freezes continued. I finally decided to re install windows so I did and the problems still continued. I am at a loss of what to do and can't think of anything else.

any advice would be appreciated if not I will bring to a repair shop and have them sort it out.

A:Newly built computer random freezing and freezing on starting windows

Hello Skytri and welcome to Seven Forums. My usual disclaimer: I'm not at expert at anything.

I'm wondering if there isn't a RAM problem. Perhaps one of the sticks wasn't seated properly, etc. You could open Resource Monitor > Memory tab and make sure all RAM is being recognized. Make sure Installed = 16384MB and the Available + Cached + Hardware Reserved is the same amount. (You are using 16GB total, correct?)

Resource Monitor

If Memtest freezes you could try a quick check for a bad RAM module. Install one stick in Slot # 1 (or whichever slot the mobo manual says to use.) Run the computer to test for freezes. Test each of the remaining sticks one at a time. If all 4 sticks work you might want to go through these troubleshooting guides. They are time consuming but many people have been able to isolate their computer problems.

It's been a while since I've upgraded to Windows 10 but the problem still exists. To leave this short, when I'm doing something like watching a movie, installing files, browsing the web, playing a game, etc. My computer just becomes completely unresponsive. I can't move my mouse, I can't use ctrl+alt+delete to get to Task Manager, when I check to see if my keyboard is still working, I try to turn caps lock off and on and that doesn't work. So whatever this issue is, it's just completely crashing my computer. This freezing causes me to hard restart my computer every single time.

I don't want to get back to Windows 7 so I've been dealing with it by keeping my PC close to me that way I can restart it when needed, but it's annoying when you're trying to do something and all of a sudden your computer just freezes.

I've Googled this and whatnot and tried checking for solutions but nothing I've tried has fixed this.

A:Windows 10 keeps freezing after upgrade.

If you by a chance have the Saitek X52/X52 Pro joystick this may be your problem. Anyway I believe this is due to a incompatible driver you have installed. Windows 10 have some new function for incompatible drivers that makes the computer work as you describe by just overloading the driver I believe.

Hello everyone

This weekend I upgraded my acer Aspire M3641 from windows Viste 64 bit Home Premium to the Windows 7 version, through an upgrade disk.
The upgrade went wel, however since then my computer has been having problems that frustate me to the point of considering putting vista back on, which ironicaly enough has never given me any trouble.

The problem: my computer freezes randomly. It doesn't freeze everything: My internet connection disapears although there a good signal from my router to my wireles USB adapter (sitecom 300N xr). Also, i can open up any application (word, excel, etc) and it wil open properly, but as soon as I want to do something in the app it freezes in the app too. Also I can't shutdown properly: after pressing shutdown, it sort of freezes in the final shutdown screen, and after 10-15 minutes, I get a BSOD, after which it restarts.

at first, i just restarted the computer by holding the start button, after restarting everything was fine again untill the next time the problem occured.

Just to let you all know what I already did: did the windows update and installed all that came with that, installed the only driver Acer had on their site for this edition (realtek HD audio), and installed the newest driver Nvidia had on their site.

however given the BSOD it still seems like a driver issue

at the top is states: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE

further at the bottom I get

I suggest backing up your files, and doing a clean install, following the tutorial below:

If the problem persists, post back and we will help you out,but generally this clean install should set you straight, and let you Experience the full power of Windows 7.

I have been upgrading my Dell Precision t3400 over the last couple of months, starting off with RAM upgrades, Graphics card, Hard drive updates etc. All has been running very smoothly. I wanted to boost the CPU power recently and purchased an Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q9550 2.8Ghz to replace the Core 2 Duo E4300 that was fitted as standard. Various forums suggested that this would be ok.

I also upgraded the heatsink to the XP850 as recommended, and replaced the thermal compound.

Once I had changed the cpu Windows booted fine, and it detected the CPU with no problems. However, when it came to doing any slightly straining tasks (e.g transferring large files, internet browsing etc) it would completely freeze up, and I would have to pull the plug to shut it down. I thought that I might need to upgrade the PSU, which I did to a Corsair CX 750. Size wise it wasn?t a perfect fit, but I managed to improvise to secure it in the machine. However, I am still having the same problem.

I have a newer computer that has Vista 64 Ultimate on it. Microsoft sent me a upgrade DVD for Window 7 64 Ultimate.
I have ran the upgrade advisor and got no problems except for the fact that Ultimate Extras would not be supported in Windows 7 and also that Windows mail would not be supported.
So anyway the story goes like this:

I recently received the upgrade for Windows 7 Ultimate from Microsoft for free because I had recently purchase Windows Vista Ultimate (64 Bit).
I have a newer computer which is made up of a ASUS P5N-D Motherboard (775 socket Intel)
Core 2 Quad 6700 Intel CPU
8 Gigs of RAM
DVD Writer Optical Drive
plus good video card XFX 9800 GTX 512 onboard memory (Nvidia Chipset)
I go and try to upgrade from Windows Vista 64 Bit Ultimate to Windows 7 64 Bit Ultimate, and it hangs a 1% and the DVD does not spin anymore after that, but the hard drive does. After a wait of about a half hour, the hard drive stops to spin and the system just hangs there stating " Copying windows installation files to your computer (27 of 2728 MB copied)
which equals the aformentioned 1% copying windows files.
I have removed my ESET Antivirus completely by uninstalling it all together.
Any help would be appreciated as I have been at this all day and I don't want to have to try to do anything without some direction as it would probably be a waste of time compared to some good advice on which way to troubleshoot.
I am sort of leaning toward the DVD drive being the pro... Read more

I?m sorry to hear that you are facing the issue with System Freezing on your ThinkPad X1 Carbon.
1. Verify whether the problem occurs intermittently or frequently2. Check LSC -Performance and Configuration History - Critical Events (for faulting applications); For machine running Windows 7 / Vista without using LSC, use Windows Reliability monitor to check (command line to run: perfmon /rel). 3. Run complete anti-virus scan.4. Run HDD and Memory diagnostics.5. If problem persists, check to restore preload operating system.
Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists.
Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

Hi everyone! I recently purchased an x1 carbon! I am having some issues, however. It routinely freezes and then stutters, before seemingly fixing itself. This happens on a variety of websites. It first happened when I was scrolling through tumblr, so I thought maybe it was because of the videos/pictures. But then it started happening on text-based sites, as well as other programs that I am using. I do not have a ton of files on the computer yet (very few actually) and have minimal programs installed (just word, discord, and steam). Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hello I have a Gen 2 X1 Carbon which is attached to the OneLink pro docking station. The docking station has two Eizo CG 243W 24 inch screens attached. Unfortunately, sinve about a month (and about two months out of warranty...), the system sort of freezes after it's been used for a few hours. The freeze looks such that the principal monitor goes black. The system still reacts to mouse movement, but not to keyboard input (ctrl-alt-del). I checked the various windows logs and cannot find anything wrong. I am suning Windows 10 (pre creators update). Anybody have an idea what this could be caused by, any help greatly appreciated! regardsChris

I always suggest running a memory test first, although on this machine, memory cannot be replaced.
Look in the event log and see if a device is throwing an error.

Installed the WIndow 1803 update and it doest see my 2nd monitor.  The bad part about this is that I did a clean install and it automagically goes out to MS and installs 1803 without my consent. I want the previous version on my computer, but I cant seem to prevent them from updating during the process. I installed the newest drivers manually and it didnt help. This is really frustrating and MS was not any help. HELP !!!

This latest update of windows 1o 1803 has taken away my home network and home group. I have everything set according to to the settings in Network and Sharing, and the same is true for my laptops. When I look in the file explorer it doesn't even offer the home group, nor does it even show a network.
Like I said, this all happened after the 1803 update.

I've been trying for weeks to upgrade to Windows 10 1803, it always rolls back at about 32% Today I tried a clean install of 1803 from a USB stick. It installed just fine, but then it started installing drivers for unknown devices and after installing the Intel HD driver for the video card the system became unstable with a PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA bluescreen crashing the machine after booting up. It would appear the problem may be with the Intel HD Graphics driver which hasn't been updated in some time. Anyone managed to get 1803 running successfully on B50-30? Thanks

Hello everybody! I hope all is well wherever you are!

I am having an issue with the latest, major windows 10 update.

When I originally tried to download the thing I lost WiFi connection very briefly. (I know school boy error using WiFi while updating)

Now when I try to update it stops at 80% and comes up with the message 'We cant install updates because other updates are in progress.' Before this it came up with ERROR 0xc1900107.

No other updates are running (as far as I can tell) I also ran system file checker which came back fine.

I finally downloaded the update assistant but it doesn't work that way either.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Hello, We have a few hundred M710q Tiny's in use all running Windows 10 1803.  After upgrading them to 1809, we are experiencing daily "freezing".  There's no automatic reboot, no memory dump, nothing.  The system completely locks up and the user must perform a hard reboot.  Because there's no memory dump, I have no idea what could be causing it.  All drivers are up-to-date. We have other lenovo desktops (M72e, M73, M720q) and all of those do not freeze.  Only the M710q freezes.  Is anyone else having this problem or know the fix? Thanks.
