Dell n5010 Random pixelated or black screen, disappears on reboot

Q: Dell n5010 Random pixelated or black screen, disappears on reboot

Hi everyone,
For the last two weeks i have been getting random pixelated display (picture attached)....
I have tried connecting the laptop to an external display while it is pixelated and the output to the external display is fine.

This pixelated problem is fixed on reboot,
i have scanned the complete system using extended test using dell support assist and no errors were found,

can anyone tell me what would be the cause of this error??

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

I have a pretty bad problem. I got a virus/malware on my computer. I downloaded some software, scanned the exe file with Clamwin, which said it was clean, then I clicked on the file and all hell broke loose. My screen became pixelated (red waves and blue boxes) and my machine rebooted. I tried to start it in safe mode, but it did the same thing. I was finally able to get to the command prompt and saw that a new file "tujserrew.bat" had been added to the root. I deleted that file and still have the same problem. I have been unable to get to the command prompt since then.

I am running Windows 7 on a dell with an i7 processor. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello,

My Dell Inspiron 530S froze up, the screen went black and the CPU fan came on. I powered off by holding the power button in. Upon trying to restart, all I get is the CPU fan on high screen is black. I removed the video card thinking that was the problem got no change. CPU fan on high. Windows7

Any ideas?

A:Solved: Dell Freezes screen goes black, can't reboot

After searching all opinions seemed to point to the motherboard. The amber light on the motherboard was on steady. I had to order a refurbished G33M02 mother board. I received the replacement yesterday, installed it and.........same thing. It won't boot. When I push the power button the cpu cooler fan and all fans run, the power button stays amber and the monitor stays black with its power button also amber. That was a waste of $170. Could this be a power supply failure?

Thanks for any replies

Hello,

For the last couple months my PC has been having an issue where the screen randomly freezes and the last sounds that were playing loop and then stop. This can happen while playing a game, be it Hearthstone, Batman Arkham City, any game. Can also happen when using any web based flash, like YouTube, Twitch, etc. But, I have also had freezes about a minute after logging on without even doing any of the above. CPU temperatures right before freeze appear normal, and the fans stay at about the same speeds when freeze happens (at least I don't hear them spinning up). I am forced to do a hard reboot, but it takes a few tries to get the PC to boot because the monitor simply acts like it doesn't detect any video signal upon reboot, I can hear Windows do its boot up sounds, but nothing on screen.

I have a feeling this might be multiple problems linked together.

I included a .zip of my computer's SF Diangostic Tool report.

Thanks for taking a look at this problem, all help is welcome and appreciated.

A:Random System Freeze, no BSOD - Black screen on Hard Reboot

That definitely sounds like a graphics driver related issue, if not then a hardware failure in your GPU. I would recommend updating your graphics driver by booting into safe mode (F8 on startup).
Uninstall the current ones via the control panel.
Let us know the results.

My computer has been occasionally going to a black screen and a colorful block will appear with it. When this happens I am only able to move around the mouse cursor and none of the buttons seem to be responsive. This usually happens after a few minutes of having my computer on.

Also, some "minor" problems that my computer will have is that the touchpad will stop working and the touchscreen will stop working.

Hello everyone.

I have attached as requested the archive containing the SF Diagnostic Tool v5 dumps.

I am receiving a huge number of BSOD errors, after each one the nVidia graphics card is nowhere to be found, rebooting the system does not help, in order to bring the nVidia card back I need to shutdown and power on the system, 2 attempts are required, first power on attempt always fails and the system shuts down right after the bios logo.

The video card was recently changed to a brand new one.

Hoping you guys can help me solve this irritating problem.

Thank you in advance.

A:Random BSOD Video Card disappears after reboot

Hi,

lol that's a new one - never heard of stop errors making a video card not found upon reboot. (I am NOT saying I don't believe you. I am only laughing at the situation itself.)

Ok, let's begin tackling.

Uninstall VMWare:

VMNET VMNET.SYS Thu Jul 18 15:42:50 2013 (51E8453A)
vmnetadapter.sys Thu Jul 18 15:43:00 2013 (51E84544)
vmnetbridge vmnetbridge.sys Thu Jul 18 15:43:47 2013 (51E84573)
vmnetuserif vmnetuserif.sys Fri Oct 18 14:19:38 2013 (52617BBA)
vmx86 vmx86.sys Fri Oct 18 15:34:39 2013 (52618D4F)

Uninstall ST Microelectronics software/driver:

ST_Accel ST_Accel.sys Thu Apr 11 14:21:52 2013 (5166FF40)

Update Realtek card storage driver:

RtsPStor RtsPStor.sys Wed Dec 12 21:44:23 2012 (50C94107)

Update Intel Management Engine (from Intel.com):

HECIx64 HECIx64.sys Mon Dec 17 14:32:21 2012 (50CF7345)

Do a Windows Update and install any drivers it offers. Reboot.

If this file below is still the same modified date, then I would rename it to EMSC.bak and then delete the corresponding key at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services

If this file below has been updated, leave it all be as is.

Embedded System Control driver:
EMSC EMSC.SYS Thu Jul 05 21:56:47 2012 (4FF645DF)

Reboot when done.

Please let us know how it goes after, and if necessary, we will easily continue effort in another direction and double check our previous work. (Yes, very likely I suspect we will. We're in planning phase lol.)

Hi there. For the past week, I've been getting some random BSODs, some freezes, and sometimes just a random restart. there is a flash of a pixelated screen, and then it just restarts. This computer is nigh on two years old, and has showed no sign whatsoever of slowness or any malfunction. Yet for the past week or so, it's been randomly crashing and getting restarted. Specs

I would upload the dump files, but honestly, it crashes by the time i press the copy button. i am attempting to get them using the homegroup from this computer.
anyway, i would really appreciate some help.

Hi, I have Dell Inspiron N5010 which brought 6 years back and in between I have updated to Windows 10 and there were no issues until battery change yesterday.
Yesterday I have changed the battery and kept charging for 2 Hours and started the PC. Start light is ON but screen not started. Felt strange and changed to old battery but still status quo. Then I removed the battery and tried on with only Power card without battery - still the same status.
I have tried with 30 seconds Stat button hold - start again - This also not worked.
Then I have called to Dell support, talked to software and Hardware guys. Hardware person suggested me to Open the memory slot and remove the memory card one by one and test with power card which is not worked.
After this test when I press start button laptop started giving 2 beeps , then that guy suggested me to take to some hardware shop to get it repaired.

Hello,
I have a dell Inspiron 15 N5010 which is about 4 years old. It was working properly, but suddenly it went off and when i restarted it, there was nothing which appeared on screen, but  there was a beep sound which went on until i turned my laptop off. Even the startup screen didnt appeared during this. The power button lights up, fan is running, but the screen is not coming up.
I have noticed one thing also, if i put it on for long time, so that it gains enough heat due to constatnt running and then I restart it, the screen will come. and after sometime, the screen distorts and after few seconds, the laptop screen turns black and the beep sound appears which start crying until i turn laptop off.
Thanks in advance for any help that is actually helpful.

A:Dell Inspiron 15 N5010 Beeps on startup continuously and wont show screen

Hi letsrock35 ,
I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check if you are able to switch ON the system properly without beeps.

Switch off the computer.
Disconnect the AC adapter from the system.
Remove the battery from the computer.
Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.
Then connect back all the peripherals and check if you are able to turn on the system properly without beeps.

Also, I would suggest that you run the diagnostics on the computer by following the steps mentioned in the video below and check if there is any issue with the hardware on your system.
http://dell.to/164l6g4
Please let us know the number of beep codes you receive they should beep in a pattern. In addition, connect an external display to check if the issue reoccurs.

This is driving me crazy.

Right after I boot my laptop, the screen flashes randomly.

Also something is stealing focus from what I am working on to something else.

Then it likes to suddenly go to a grey screen. I have to manually reboot.

If that is not enough, it like to just reboot.

Scanned with my AVG and Kaspersky, nothing found. Tried TrendMicro House Call, nothing. Dr. Web, nothing.

All drivers are up to date.

I have run it in the safe mode for about an hour with no problems. No new software installed recently. I went to restore and it was only dated from the previous day, so no help there.

I would prefer not to Nuke and pave, but if that what I need to do, I can.

Any thoughts, theories, explosives you can recommend for this?

I await with enlarging piles of hair as I pull it out.

Hello everyone. I'm very sorry for just being a new member and allready posting.
I felt like i needed to post this straight away as i've seen the technichal support given by the community
and as much i can be honest, this is the top website i found with the most fixes.
to anyone that will be interested in helping me, I appreciate it deeply - thank you very much.

Recently i left my computer to update a game ( world of warcraft ) overnight.
When i woke up I was confused why it was back to the login screen. ( im guessing it must have reseted )
So i logged in, couple of minutes later the wallpaper changed into something 'Warning your computer has been infected everything you do is logged'
so bla bla. So i ran a couple of AVG scans manage to find the thing it was something called b.exe ( been deleted ). now my wallpaper problem is fixed.
HOWEVER sometimes when i turn on the pc it's just a plain black screen with a curser in the middle a couple of clicks it will freeze ( it works after a couple of hard reboots).
Everytime i search something on google ( using firefox ) and click on the link it brings up a new tab with 'jump' title.
the computer also randomly freezes at some point.

This is my log.

Just installed windows XP Home Sp2 onto a PC.

**I did this twice because of this same issue so I formated and tried again same results***

Whats happening: Runs fine, reboot computer (powered off or a reboot) and start back up results in a black screen with no windows logo. Reboot computer it gives me the bad windows start up last known good, safe mode etc screen. If I choose start normally goes into windows and everything seems fine.

Tried: Re-Format
Latest Drivers, Sp3, Bios reset all no good. Also tried a kernal32.dll delete from recovery console with no results. Ideas? =)

Hi there-
When I restart my computer there is just a black screen and I can only access programs through Task Manager. I am using Avira AntiVir, have run several anti malware programs including McAfee Stinger and did find Trojans. Repaired but still the same thing-Black Screen. I believe it came from a Pirate's Bay torrent file.

I am running Vista Home Premium on a Dell XPS410.

Thanks for your help, Steve

Sometimes, when I sit down in front of my computer, with everything still on from the last session, the monitor will not go on. The little light on the bottom frame of the monitor will not go from an amber light to the green light. And the screen itself stays black. If things are working, all I have to do is move the mouse or hit the spacebar key. I have to reboot if it doesn't work. If you have a solution, please reply.

Dear users,
My system is configured as follows:
Dell Dimensions 8400, 8GB RAM, two hard drives with over 500 GB, one holds the operating system and the other data.
Windows 7 Home Premium
Nvidia GE Force 6800
About a day ago I rebooted and all I got was a complete black screen, no cursor no nothing.
I rebooted again and this time I was taken to Windows but at another resolution than my original settings and after going to display properties I noticed that my monitor was not recognized and the display was shown at default resolution.
Considering it may be a driver problem I updated the video card drivers to the latest available and also just in case, I changed my CMOS battery.
Once again I rebooted and this time I entered Windows normally, but after another reboot, the problem repeated itself again and most of the time I have to reboot two times in order to be successful.
To check if this was a software problem I restored my system from an image that was a month old and still the same situation.
At this point I don't know whether this is a software or hardware problem and I don't know what else to do for troubleshooting.
I would appreciate your advice.

A:Black screen after reboot

Hi Ameneses54,

When it goes to the black screen does it get past the POST (Its the white writing when your PC starts)? If so, does it have any errors on it?

When you get onto your desktop right click My Computer and select manage. Does it say any errors in the event logs (On the left hand side in the event viewer sub menu)?

Also have you updated your BIOS recently?

Dave

Hey.
I have a problem that just occurred to me.
I HAVE formatted and reinstalled windows XP Pro.
So the thing is that whenever a setup makes me reboot (or i reboot manually), it reboots normally but when its booting up (after mobo logos etc) where the windows loading screen should appear, I just get a black screen and i have to reset my pc, and it starts normally again.

Any idewas?

A:Black screen after reboot?

Try running memtest along with other hardware tests like Prime95, if you get no errors from them then go to event viewer and see if any errors are there that relate to your problem and post them, also upload any dump files generated by the error.

Hey,
So I thought I had a problem with my graphics card or display as whenever the computer went to sleep the screen would not come back on unless I reboot. Since then I have done testing and the sleep mode works fine, but it was actually when I was trying to run WEI. It starts off okay but then goes to a black screen after a few moments and won't come back on.

System:
ASRock B75M
GTX 295
Samsung Syncmaster P2350
Antec HCG-900
8GB Corsair Vengeance
i5 3470

A:Run WEI and getting black screen until reboot?

Welcome to Seven Forums ryanphoto. Let me be sure I have this right. You are only having this issue when running the WEI assessment? If that is the case, does the WEI assessment start and appear to be running fine, and then at some point the screen blacks out? Can you tell at what point the assessment fails? Has the WEI score ever been set, or is it unrated?

Let's try something. Open an advanced command prompt:

Start> In search box type cmd> Right click on cmd.exe in results above and choose Run as administrator> When the command prompt opens type winsat formal -v> Enter

See if it will complete the full assessment. Report back how it goes.

Many times when i restart my pc, i only get a black screen after reboot.
Screen turns off to reboot, but never comes back on.
I hear the boot beep, fans working normally, all seems good except my screen is black!!
How i manage to boot normally?? After many times that i take vga and memories on and off, sometime it will boot normally :p

Its not an OS issue, since it happened with both Windows 7 and 8.
I disassembled everything and put it back together -> same issue..

I need help to figure out what it is, Motherboard, VGA or PSU? I have no other issue on my computer, when it manages to boot, i get an uptime of 4 or 5 days without a single problem.

No overclock, i tried to load optimized defaults on BIOS..

Intel E8200
DFI Lanparty P45 T2RS
2*2GB ram (Geil)
Nvidia GTX 460 1GB
OCZ Vertex 2 60GB + 3 HDDs

Glad to hear someone has solved this problem. Unfortunately, I still experience problems while returning from sleep. It happens when the sleep is longer. There is no BSOD, just black screen and reboot.

Can I use this thread to continue solving my problem? If yes and if someone is willing to help, please tell me which commands should I apply to full memory dump in Windbg to clarify things? There is no way I will upload 3,7 GB.

Minidump attached.

I ran the 32bit Vista RC1 DVD on boot and followed the on screen install setup. Formatted my 74GB Sata hard drive and I started installation. I got to the "Completing Installation" part and asked to restart, did that, loading windows screen booted up but after that my screen just goes black (monitor turned off) but I can still hear my hard drive working. I left it thinking that maybe it's still loading or installing for about 30 minutes and still nothing. So I turned it off and restarted and took me to the safe mode options.

I tried reinstalling again, maybe a bad first install but I still got the same result after. Anyone having or had the same problem before? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello,

I'm using Vista and since yesterday I'm unable to boot normally (I'm currently posting from "safe mode").

Whenever I reboot, after seeing the Vista loading page (with the green progress bar), my monitor briefly displays "no input signal", then it switches to a black screen with the white arrow cursor. I can move the cursor around but apart from that, nothing moves and the screen remains black and my only option is to turn off the power. Pushing keys, or Ctrl Alt Del, doesn't do anything.

The last thing I did yesterday before having this problem was installing Magic DVD Ripper, but I have not performed any operation with it and have since uninstalled it (which didn't change anything). That's the only thing I can think of that could have caused the problem, apart from that I only did the usual (Word, Outlook, etc.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

EDIT : I have tried restoring the system to the "last known good configuration", but to no avail: Pressing F8 when the computer boots up just asks me from which drive I want to boot (I can't choose "advanced options" or anything of the sort), and if I try doing that from Windows in safe mode it tells me there are no saved configurations.

A:Black screen on Vista reboot... Help!

try using system restore to restore your system to any previous date
also check your system for viruses using latest antivirus definitions
as you have mentioned magic dvd ripper cannot be the cause to this problem
update your video drivers this should solve the problem
if it persists ask me

I purchased a Lenovo G400s Touch laptop a couple of weeks back. I am running Windows 8.1 (Windows 8 came pre-installed and hence I don't have a Windows CD) / Intel i5 processor / 4 GB RAM. Video cards: Intel HD Graphics 4000 and Nvidia GeForce 2GB

Since the last two days I am having a problem where when I restart my system it automatically gives me a black screen, nothing happens at all and I have to shut down my laptop by pressing the power button and then start it again.
Refreshing my PC is my last option as I shall lose a lot of apps and other stuff. Can someone offer me a work around?

A:Windows 8.1 black screen on reboot

Refreshing your Win 8 will not cause you to lose files. A reinstall will.

You can try a System Restore first, this too will not lose any user files.

Hello,

I experienced after automatic configured updates,
Just after the reboot,
The black screen with the windows logo,
And then several white lines of text,
Refering to registry keys that are updated/processed.
After this the computer works normally and updates are
Visible in windows update.

So my question is: is the black screen with white scrolling
text showing registry entries and the like normal when certain
windows 7 updates are applied?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Hello!

Sorry for the delay! You can see how busy we are! lol.

That is absolutely normal. Any large update or service pack on Vista or 7 will cause this.

It is nothing to worry about, and it will take a fair about of extra time on the final entry.

It may look a little scary, but it is fine!

On starting up my Compaq Presario CQ60-218, I received notification of a virus and whilst attempting to remove it, the laptop shut down to protect itself. I briefly got a blue screen with text advising me of this before it quickly went to a black screen of death with flashing cursor.
I've researched this on various threads and forums but nothing described the exact problem I have. When I tried advice to reboot in safe mode by using Ctrl+Alt+Delete, nothing happens and I get no response from repeatedly hitting the F8 key either, just the black screen.

I've tried various things I've seen recommended, powering off for 10 mins, removing battery, hard reset including 20 sec battery drain etc but nothing worked. I also connected an external monitor which showed nothing thereby I think ruling out graphics card and display issues.

I did find that by hitting F10 key I was able to get into BIOS diagnostics and ran memory test which was passed and then a primary hard disk test which failed within seconds with #1-07 Fail. So could i somehow reset to an earlier state, even if it wiped computer, or is only option an expensive new hard disk?

I'm posting this from a 2nd machine so I do have the option of downloading and using USB to transfer solutions if I can get Compaq to respond.
Grateful for any advice
Thanks

A:Can't reboot, black screen, F8 key unresponsive

If you failed the inbuilt hard drive test, it's most likely that your hard drive has failed.
If you're unsure of that, run one of the free diagnostics listed here: HD Diagnostic (read the details at the link) - Test ALL of the hard drives.

I just bought a 250 gB hard drive today for $43 (US)
You'll also need recovery disks for your system. If you don't have them, here's a link for ordering them (US only): Order Recovery Discs (USA)

I have the "reboot and select proper boot device" when I turn on my computer. I put the restore disk that came with my computer in and started the computer.

When I choose "1. restore windows xp" I get "output A:\GHOSTERR.TXT ?"
When I answer "yes" a box pops up "cannot open GHOSTERRTXT = insert diskette"
I removed the restore disk and reinserted it, then it cycles back to the "output A:\GHOSTERR.TXT ?" if I answer "no" I get "invalid destination drive."

When I select "2. boot to command prompt from cd-rom" I get an "A:" prompt and I don't know what to do.

Please help, I would so appreciate it.
Thanks
