I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Update 3076895 is available for POSReady 2009 however the corrective updates 3090303 and 3092627 are not available for POSReady 2009.  We have experienced the issues described in the release notes for updates 3090303 and 3092627 after installing
update 3076895.  The issues are resolved after uninstalling 3076895 and reappear after reinstalling 3076895.  We need to install this patch and/or its corrective patches however they are not available for POSReady 2009.  Is there an update
for POSReady 2009?

Has Microsoft changed something in the latest April Windows Updates?
I create a default Windows 8 Enterprise VL image on my laptop in audit mode as I have always done previously.  Nothing has changed from my side.
When I install the image via WDS, everything installs fine.
When I use my WIM file to install via USB, it now comes up with:
The product key entered does not match any of the Windows images available for installation. Enter a different product key.
right after selecting the install language.
I have checked EI.cfg and it is normal:
[EditionID]
Enterprise
[Channel]
Volume
[VL]
1
I then tried adding PID.TXT with my Enterprise KMS key and, rather than error it then prompts me for a product key.
Surely using the VL install media it should never ask for a product key.  It never has before. (And I've never had to before)
I prepped the image as normal using:
C:\Windows\System32\Sysprep\Sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown /unattend:C:\Windows\win8unattend.xml
Any ideas?  I can't but help thinking something has changed in the latest batch of Windows Updates.  It's quite frustrating as not all my machines are capable of PXE, so I have to use USB.
The reason I think it is a recent change, is if I do a default install and DO NOT do any Windows Updates, it all works fine.  Only when I install the latest WU does it start doing this.

A:[NEW] The product key entered does not match any of the Windows images available for installation. Enter a different product key.

OK, So I've fixed it now, but I will still like to know WHY this has changed.

If i do this to my WIM, it then installs from USB:

imagex /flags "Enterprise" /info c:\temp\WIM\ME\install.wim "Win8Office2013Enterprise-x86" "Win8Office2013Enterprise-x86"

I wonder because I use the WDS capture image if this has somehow changed recently.
Very annoying, but now at least I can install my custom image :)

Hi there. I installed Windows 8 pro a few days ago, with the OEM/Full Version. Today I used two different winkey finders; they come up with the same windows key, but it is totally different from what I entered and from the sticker. Weird... The only thing that matches in each case is the Product ID that Windows has in the registry. Is there a problem with my installation? When I right click on My Computer, it just says Windows is activated and it shows the product ID, which indeed corresponds to the Product ID on the Packaging Label. Also, Windows 7 would also have a logo saying 'ask for Genuine Microsoft' or something like that. My Windows 8 does not show that. Thanks for your help.

I purchased and clean installed W7 Ultimate using the product key on the package. I bought the product from Softsets. I delayed activating it until I had evaluated it and installed all the software I generally use. The other day I decided to activate it and the activation failed. Tried to activate online and by telephone, failed. Then called MicroSoft, gave them the product key and was told that the software was not genuine.
Emailed the vendor and they apologized all over the place, gave me a new product key, told me I had to uninstall and reinstall using the product key they sent me. I really don't want to go through all that now that I have W7 personalized.
What I did was enter the new product key they sent me in Computer.... Properties and again was told that the key was wrong. Is it going to be wrong if I uninstall and reinstall?
I'll extend my activation period so I can get some decent answers. So, come on guys and gals, lets hear some wisdom.

A:Wrong product key

1) What exactly is the message you get when you try to activate using the new key?

2) You can install and activate manually.

Run cmd as admin, at the command prompt type:

slmgr -ipk <product key>

This will install the new key and swap out the older one.

To activate, type:

slmgr -ato

To check activation status, type;

slmgr -dli

I downloaded Windows 7 from Microsoft's website with the student discount. I downloaded it to a Toshiba laptop which had a Windows 7 Starter version and it was supposed to be an upgrade, but it was giving me error messages so I went ahead and downloaded the whole system from scratch erasing the prior system completely. It asked me for a product key but because I didnt have one I hit X and continued. Now it keeps asking me for a product key, but how can i get one if i didnt download it from a disk, i got it from the site directly??? thanks for the help!!!

A:Downloaded Win 7 from site, no product key

I believe that they send out an email showing that you bought it as a student discount and then send out a second one with the cd-key.

I picked up this lenovo laptop and shortly after I got it the HDD went out. I replaced the HDD and Installed a full version of Windows XP SP2 then used the Win 7 upgrade disc I bought. I did a clean install of the Win 7 then I activated it at that time without any issues. Some time after that I started getting the message it wasn't a genuine copy. I rearmed the time period but I'm not able to activate the copy again with the PID. I get the message this product is for upgrade and not a clean install. I need to find out if I will be able to register this copy or if I will need to start over from scratch. I did try putting in another PID but it didn't activate with it. I haven't been able to change the PID back due to the message I am getting about the upgrade not clean install.

I appreciate any help I can get with this issue.

I want to upgrade my Acer Aspire Notebook from Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit to Windows 7 SP1 32-bit.  It qualifies for the "Supported Upgrade Scenerios" and my system passed the Windows 7 install compatibility test.  I found
the Windows 7 download page, but when I enter the Microsoft Product Key on the back of my Acer Aspire Notebook it doesn't accept it.
How do I resolve this problem?  I can't get Chat to work (loops me back to automated system) and I can't find a email or phone number for Microsoft to assist me.
Please help.  Thank you.
TO CLARIFY: Entering the product key on the microsoft windows 7 download page in order to do the download is where the key fails, not during installation.  I can't even get past the download approval.

I purchased this laptop refurbished from Tiger Direct in 06/2013. I upgraded Windows to 8.1, then during the free period, Urgraded to Windows 10.  I recently used the HP Recovery Manager to restore the entire hard disk image to the original factory-shipped state. Windows 8 will not activate for me now, because it says I have the wrong product key.  Windows stores the product key in the BIOS and I think it may have overwritten the Windows 8 key when it Upgraded to 10.  How can I get my original  Product Key?

So short story, I work at a college tech site that fixes student and faculty computers. A foreign exchange student from Japan with a Sony Vaio (most likely from Japan as well) managed to get a virus on his computer and he was blocked off our network. Our policy is that we wipe and reinstall the OS to ensure that the virus is gone. However, we didn't have any Windows 7 Home Prem media CDs so I downloaded a Win7 Home Prem 32bit iso off of MSDN and burnt it to disk. However, when entering the product key given on the bottom of the laptop(and I've checked 3 times now to make sure it's correct), I get a:

"Product key does not match the current Windows SKU" error.

Why is this happening? Do I need a certain burnt iso (from Sony in Japan?) because of the laptop's foreign origins or is something else causing the problem here?

A:Product Key Does Not Match Current Windows SKU (Foreign product key?)

Yes, you need a Japanese iso, they have regional editions.

So, stupid user here.

My old computer started with Win 7 Home Premium (retail); a few years down the road, I bought a Win 8 Pro retail upgrade.

Last week I built a new computer, intending on transferring the license from my old computer to the new one. But stupidly when it came to entering the product key, I entered the Win 7 Home Premium key. I merrily spent the next 6 days installing programs, customizing them & Windows, to get things exactly how I want them. Only to realize last night that I had ended up installing Win 10 Home, not Win 10 Pro (because the Win 7 key did not qualify for Pro).

I tried changing the key to the Win 8 Pro key this morning, but Windows says that key cannot be used for this version of Windows. I'm not positive that I care about anything in Win 10 Pro (maybe Bitlocker, less likely Hyper-V), but as I'm "entitled" to it, I thought it might be a good idea to have it installed, just in case.

But I'm not willing to spend another week doing a re-install of all those programs again. Is there any other method of upgrading to Pro (other than purchasing the upgrade, which I can do in the future if I do have a need for something in Pro)?
Please be kind; I feel stupid enough already.

Ken

Does Windows XP Embedded POSReady 2009 have native support for advanced format hard drives, or must I do the trick formatting the partition with Windows 7 first prior to installing POSReady '09?

EDIT: I see that the XP POSReady 2009 install screen does a fresh format everytime, but lets the user choose the allocation size up to 4096. Does this mean POSReady '09 supports ADVANCED FORMAT HDDs natively (ie. no need to realign hdd after install as is the case with XP Pro)?

A:XP POSReady 2009 and ADVANCED FORMAT HDDs

Hi

I never installed XP Embeded but i assume choosing 4096 bytes allocation unit is not enough to solve the partition alignment issue with "Advanced Format Drives". Usually 4096 bytes allocation unit means the default cluster size of NTFS ( 8 sector ). XP, Sever 2003 , 7 and 8 all uses eight sectors by default but XP usually creates it's first partition on sector 63 ( not always - in my system first partition started on Sector 19 ! ). This is because XP setup uses old C/H/S based partitioning while NT6 family ( Vista and later ) defaulted to LBA based partitioning.

I would recommend partitioning with "Windows 7" disc prior to installing and avoid any potential chance of partition misalignment ( Use DISKPART to avoid the creation of 100 MB "System" Partition ).
If you are going to install it on a lot of systems, first install on a test system normally and check whether the partitions are aligned or not. If aligned, you don't need to use a separate tool for partitioning.

A:Window 8.1 Pro Product Key

WARYAA Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!I read your post about needing your product key and wanted to help. With Win8x, the product key is embedded into the UEFI firmware on the motherboard.  You can retrieve it by following these directions:  Product Key - Find for Windows 8 However ... you have a bigger problem.  Your Win8.1 is not activating because you most likely reinstalled Win8 from an image your downloaded from the Internet or from an MS DVD -- and those images are Retail versions. Your PC came preinstalled with an HP OEM version of Win8 -- and the product key from that can only be used to activate the HP OEM version, not the Retail versions.  So basically, the version you installed will not activate unless you go out and buy a license for it. What will work is restoring your machine to its original factory condition using HP Recovery Media.  This is a set of DVDs and a CD, or USB stick, that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, settings, and applications, reinstall the original OS, drivers, and some HP Utilities. In some cases, you may be able to order a USB stick instead of disks.  You have to order these from HP; they can not be downloaded. You can look online for Recovery Media starting with the linked paged: http://support.hp.com/us-en/driversOnce there, input your Product name or number. On your Software and Drivers Download page, select your Operating System and and Version. Click "Upd... Read more

The Windows product key on the bottom side of your notebook is an OEM license key. That means this can?t be used with other Windows versions.

Hello,I decided to update my BIOS and I follow HP instruction on this page. I understand everything but when I get to the point where I am supposed to identify my product I get stuck. Because: When I fill my product number (which is A1GOOES) I am told by the webpage that my notebook is HP Pavilion g6-1a01 however I am really sure that my notebook is ProBook 4530s (it is written ON it and also it written in "System information").Hence, the problem is I cannot decide which update of BIOS I should download. I understand that updating BIOS is a serious issue so I write to you before I do some action. curr. ver of bios: HP 68SRR ver. F.27 (23.5.2012).Thanks everyone who can provide some help!

Hi! Ich bought a HP ProBook 6550b a few days back. On the first start of the notebook I got the following message:Product Information not validThe following product information programmed into the system board is missing or invalidProduct Configuration ID I already updated to the latest Bios version, but this did not solve the problem. I searched Google and Youtube and found a tool (NbDmiFit ) that HP provides. Unfortunately I think, that the tool does not support my motherboard. I tried the batchfile "NbDmiFit.bat", which should find the correct exe-File for setting the missing value, but that didn't work. After that I tried every single exe-file, but I was not able to set the Product Configuration ID successful. Does anyone know, which exe-file or which tool one needs for setting the Product Configuration ID on a HP ProBook 6550b? I also discovered a further possible solution with WinFlash. Unfortunately I don't know, which command is necessary for setting the Product Configuration ID. Maybe someone can help with that: Usage: WinFlash64.exe [COMMAND]dat      string   Specify the asset tag DMI string.dmc    string   Specify the chassis manufacturer DMI string.dmm  string   Specify the motherboard manufacturer DMI string.dks     string    Specify the SKU number DMI string.dms    string    Specify the system manufacturer DMI string.dos [string;... I can ask to have your issue escalated. You should be contacted by an HP representative someone over the next few days.

I have been reading posts on seven-/eight-/tenforums for years with pleasure and gratitude for all the solutions they provided. But my current issue is one of the strangest things I've encountered in all these years. Have been searching through a lot of posts but haven't found any similar issue (or solution for it) yet. So here it goes.

Symptom: the OEM product key in the registry of a Windows 7 Pro installation (laptop) does not correspond with the OEM product key in the laptop's BIOS.

Here's the situation in short. It concerns a laptop from a student friend of mine who asked me to upgrade her current Windows 7 Pro x64 OS to Windows 10. She couldn't tell me if the installation was the original OEM factory partition or if it (perhaps) could be a pirated version. Since I wasn't about to just upgrade to Windows 10 without checking the authenticity of the Windows 7 OS, I performed the regular checks: see if it was activated already by running the "Activate Windows" program (check), check under Control Panel -> System and Maintenance -> System tab if the OS was already activated (check) and run Microsoft's online Validation Tool (check). Everything seems fine, the OS is activated and genuine.

Still, the COA sticker was missing. My friend didn't have any physical recovery media or other stuff with a license sticker on it. So I thought I'd check the product key stored in the BIOS and compare it with the product key in the registry. If they'd correspond, all would... Read more

ok so my product key on my laptop base is XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-KVWXP
but the one that windows reports(useing slmgr.vbs -dli in run command) end in KKMRQ also tweakVI also reports this(with a totaly different key but ending in KKMRQ) why has this happened im confused as to why its like this. thanks

A:product key: sticker on laptop key is different from actual product key???

The product key is encrypted in the Registry, so maybe one of those commands/utilities has the wrong encryption algorithm.

If you bought new the key on the sticker on the laptop is your personal unique key and the one in the system is the OEM's "volume license" key.

Last weekend I purchased an HP 250 G5 Laptop (i3-5005U (2GHz) 8GB RAM, 1TB 5400 RPM drive from MicroCenter in Sharonville OH. I've been looking to check on updates, firmware, etc. When I go to the support site, I enter the product code (and pretty much every variation therein) and my serial number and in response I get, "No product at this site matches the serial number you provided." I'm a little bit perplexed by this. The laptop is fine laptop. I've begun experimenting with linux mint on there as well as Windows 10 and pondering other OS's to play with on there as I tend to tinker with the software, but I'd also really prefer to do so knowing if a system defect were to be discovered, it would be covered under the proper warranty. Is there any way I could find this out in a reasonable time frame?

Hi, There are many, yes many, machines from this series therefore they have same "name". Only options make them differences as you can see the options list:       http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?SearchText=X9U74UT They can even have different motherboards as you can see on the list. Finding the right combination of your machine could be a challenge therefore you need to check the invoice to see the full list of parts for your machine otherwise you have to rely on hardware id from Device manager to find the right combination. Regards.

Hi,

I have one satellite Pro T110 with win 7 pro installed for years. Recently i upgraded to win10 and due to some reasons i couldn't join company domain. Then i tried to downgrade back to win7, but function has been disabled after win10 been installed for couple of months. I also tried to use restore from backup file, but there is no any backup or image file available. I am planning to download OS from MS by using the laptop product key and i got the msg returned as Error

The product key you entered appears to be for software pre-installed by the device manufacturer. Please contact the device manufacturer for software recovery options.

Don't know what to do next. Any help will be appreciated.

Hey Guys,

In 'System Information', there's a link that says 'Get more features with a new edition of windows". Clicking that brings up an 'Enter Product Key' page, and it is only at this point that I realize my product key isn't stuck to the bottom of this PC.

So, researching this on Google, I found a product key that Microsoft Released for the Trial:
NTTX3-RV7VB-T7X7F-WQYYY-9Y92F

So, my question is: Will my Windows 8 Product Key work with 8.1 Preview?
If so, I think I would rather dig that up than use a generic key.

If it doesn't, and I need to use this generic key, what happens at the end of the Preview when everyone has the same Product Key.

Will Windows 8 become an Operating System where you'll need to pay for the updated OS after the preview? Ie, paying for and getting a new Product Key?

And last, does anyone know what features entering a product key will actually unlock?

Thanks, Kurt

Welcome to EF BarkerBlast !

1- You can upgrade from Windows 8 without entering a product key, but for a clean install you'll always need a product key. You can enter the generic key or a key received from MSDN in case you have a subscription. Windows 8 keys do not work for a clean install.

2- At the end of the preview, if you upgraded from a valid Windows 8 install you'll be able to upgrade to RTM without a product key, but you will lose all your apps. If you installed the preview form an ISO or upgraded from a n... Read more
