Preferred Solution: June 2016 Cumulative Update (KB3163018) Changelog

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Windows 10 system upgraded from Win7. Windows Update failed on this recent cumulative update. The web has lots of hits about this. After trying a number of fixes, the following worked for me:

1. I went into Disk Management and saw that my System Reserved Partition was 100MB vs the minimum recommended (according to some sites) of 400MB.

2. I used MiniTool Partition Wizard (free edition) to resize the System Reserved Partition to 450MB. That required burning a CD from a downloaded ISO.

3. Since the Windows update failed again, I deleted the contents of C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download (I did NOT delete the DOWNLOAD folder itself, just the contents)

4. BINGO! The update installed.

Hope this helps someone else who may have this problem.

Hello folks,

I need to have installed Office 2010 Cumulative Update for June 2011 as it's listed as a prerequisite for another software. However, I can not find this update in Windows Update (neither in downloads list nor in installed updates list).

Is there a way to install the update manually? And if it is, where can I find this particular update?

Windows 10 Pro x64 laptop had updates set to automatically download and then notify. (Still using v. 1511 build 10586 due to continuing reported issues with 1607.) No problems with any updates prior to Oct 2016.

Oct 11 cumulative update KB3192441 apparently failed and gave notice it would "automatically retry later". Download failed again on Oct 12, 13 and 14. Went to Microsoft Update Catalog and downloaded/installed KB3192441 without any apparent issues. But when I opened Settings > Update & security, I saw a brand new notice that "Some settings are managed by your organization" (see screenshot.)

Q1: Why did this happen?

Q2: How do I regain full control over future updates since this laptop is not part of an "organization"?

NOTE: I tried modifying Windows Update settings using this tutorial. No effect on removing the "Some settings are managed by your organization" notice.

Windows Update Automatic Updates - Enable or Disable in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

I also tried using three System Restore Points and two System Images all made prior to Oct 11. They did not have any success in removing the notice. It reappeared as soon as I clicked the "Check for updates" button.

(BTW, going thru the Microsoft Update Catalog resulted in a download of 1.03GB and took almost 6 hours to complete. I understand that MS wants people to have all released updates but this cumulative concept really stinks. End of rant.)

reg delete "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost" /f

Note, that it will probably appear again, it is related to some Windows Update/Insider settings.

What is the verdict on MSKB3161608 - June 2016 update rollup for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1?

I see that MSKB3161608 includes quite a few patches, including MSKB3161647 - Windows Update Client for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2: June 2016. In the past, I think some people mentioned MS possibly slipping in some Win10 crap with patches to the Windows Update Client.

For Windows 7 SP1 systems that will not be "upgraded" to Windows 10, does MSKB3161608 (or MSKB3161647) include any nasties, Win10 garbage, or MS-suprises?

For Windows 7 SP1 systems that will not be "upgraded" to Windows 10, is MSKB3161608 a recommended install?

A:What is the verdict on MSKB3161608 - June 2016 update rollup?

Hi SevenOfNine

(So, you are referring to Star Trek Voyager)

Actually, you still can upgraded to Windows 10 as this will end on July 2016, as announce.
I refuse to install, as i am used to Windows 7.

I think you can do it, because it keep showing when going to MSN website.
Try it, as it may works.

Sometimes i don't understand why people so like to do update this patch that so on....
When it is good and ready, Windows update will push to your pc, definitely.
You can go > Start --> Windows update, then it pop-up to remind to upgrade to Windows 10 (was downloaded into my pc.)

Hiya

This is a cumulative patch that includes the functionality of
all previously released patches for Windows Media Player 6.4, 7.1
and Windows Media Player for Windows XP. In addition, it eliminates
the following three newly discovered vulnerabilities one of which
is rated as critical severity, one of which is rated moderate
severity, and the last of which is rated low severity:

- An information disclosure vulnerability that could provide
the means to enable an attacker to run code on the user's
system and is rated as critical severity.

- A privilege elevation vulnerability that could enable an attacker
who can physically logon locally to a Windows 2000 machine and run
a program to obtain the same rights as the operating system.

- A script execution vulnerability related that could run a script
of an attacker's choice as if the user had chosen to run it after
playing a specially formed media file and then viewing a specially
constructed web page. This particular vulnerability has specific
timing requirements that makes attempts to exploit vulnerability
difficult and is rated as low severity.

It also introduces a configuration change relating to file extensions
associated with Windows Media Player. Finally, it introduces a new,
optional, security configuration feature for users or organizations
that want to take extra precautions beyond applying IE patch MS02-023
and want to disable scripting functionality in the
Windows Media Player for versions 7.x or hig... Read more

i love my T520.  i love my X220.  this week Windows 10 no longer functions right on either of them!  The Conexant drivers were uninstalled and Windows generic audiopoint driver put in its place.  Windows 10 updates drivers with no notification.  And the only way I knew this had happened, was all my audio went sour -- tinny high pitches and echoing ...so I check the drivers.  Knew i had installed the Conexant drivers when setting up the systems. But instead of Conexant drivers, there is a Microsoft installation, with a warning when you try to get driver details of "no device drivers are necessary for this device." I'm operating on the assumption that this HAS to be happening to other users -- have you noticed your sound going bad in Windows 10 recently?  Is on both my Thinkpads that have Conexant sound boards.MS won't allow the reinstall of the Conexant drivers.  All audio enhancements are turned off.  In fact, i have to turn the enhancements on again and play with the equalizer to try and get more bass and less screaching.  It still sounds awful.Conexant boards are also in the newer T series and E series.... so surely this is being noted in others that upgraded to Windows 10? The Windows 10 Conexant driver available from Lenovo website no longer works or installs at all.  HELP HELP HELP HELP ....i have tried everything.  even used linux to go in and remove ms audioendpoint applications.  i ca... Microsoft Announces New Monthly Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Creators Update

Microsoft rolls out new cumulative updates every month on Patch Tuesday, including here not only security fixes targeting vulnerabilities in Windows 10 and installed Microsoft software, but also OS improvements and other tweaks refining the overall experience.

Today, the company announced that it would publish a second cumulative update for businesses running Windows 10 Creators Update, this time including non-security fixes.

Microsoft says that although it wants to release one such cumulative update every month (in addition to the security release on Patch Tuesday), there might be cases when more than a single extra cumulative update is shipped, depending on the bugs that it needs to fix.

These updates will be listed as ?Updates? in WSUS and Configuration Manager, with certain exceptions when critical issues affecting organizations are targeted, so the updates will be flagged as ?Critical Updates.?

Customers who use Windows Update for Business won?t have these updates installed automatically if options to defer quality updates are in place.

You can simply ignore these updates
The software giant explains that Windows 10 users getting these updates will be allowed to deploy them just like the updates that are shipped on Patch Tuesday, but at the same time, be provided with options to deploy each of them only to a subset of devices.

?This enables the organization to ensure that... Read more

I'm having no luck installing KB2977629 (Cumulative Security Update IE11). I repeatedly get the error 8007371B.

SURT installs with no errors. SFC /SCANNOW runs with no errors. I am uploading the requested screenshots and ZIP file.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!!!!

PS- well, I WAS uploading. My screencaptures upload great, but my CBS.zip fails with "Server error 500".
My zip file is 9.6mb-- over the 8mb limit. What can I delete from the directory to get under the 8mb limit?

I've found a way to get the CBS zip uploaded. I divided it into 4 parts. All of the CBS folder's files are included. Sorry I didn't see this earlier.

Today June 19 2012 I received this.Did anyone get this also? After Microsoft's service had been cracked by Flame, my trust in Microsoft has dropped to zero.So I would need confirmation if anyone else had thisupdate today (19 June 2012).The interesting thing is, mostly it gives a link forthe update to read more info about a certain update. But here today is no description whatsoever.edit: I should mention the odd thing about this is, I lookedinto my update settings and it was set to automatically installand update windows. So it should have downloaded this and installed. So why the difference? It makes me feel uneasy, to say the least.Advise pleaseThank You

A:Urgent - Windows 7 Update Service Update June 19 2012

I called Microsoft just now.
They established a remote session directly to my PC.
After verification that my OS is legit etc. they had a look at this.

They recommend that I reinstall Windows from one of their ISO images
and not from the HP recovery partition.

The guy said he wouldn't trust that update as there is the information link
missing.

I only can do what he says, downloading that 3 GB ISO and burn the DVD
and reinstall Windows.

So, if you get the SAME looking update, my advise is as his.
Don't install that update.

The KB3081424 have been rolled out today for Windows 10, and it's a Cumulative Update. It'll update a lot of files that are coming out in users' SFC and DISM scans as corrupted. Installing it could fix these files, so I suggest you to install it.Cumulative Update for Windows 10: August 5, 2015This update includes nonsecurity-related changes to enhance the functionality of Windows 10 through new features and improvements.Windows 10 updates are cumulative. Therefore, this package contains all previously-released fixes (see KB 3074683). If you have installed previous updates, only the new fixes that are contained in this package will be downloaded and installed to your computer.

Check your settings.  There are a lot of new settings in every category.  I only went through System and Privacy, so far.  Am taking a break now.  This stuff makes my eyes glaze over with all the bizarre organization, so I can't even tell you what the changes are.

I have used Bitdefender, Avast, Kaspersky ( about 3 years ago), I haven't used Norton and Trend Micro.

Out of all these, and your prerequisites,I would go with Kaspersky!

I vote the naming as CumUpX.x, where 'x' is the number of the Cumulative Update -- and when it doesn't work, it's a comeuppance.

Hi Guys, I'm looking for help again, please.
Cumulative update 2017-05 Version 1607 (KB 4019472) has now failed to install 16 times since 11/05/2017. according to update history.
The last Successfully Installed Update was Windows Malicious Software Tool Edition May 2017 (KB890830)
that installed on 11/05/2017. Could this be sheer coincidence or is Malicious Software Tool blocking the Cumulative update, and of course how do I solve the problem?

I am having Win 10 home version 1607 64-bit. While downloading KB31889866 through Windows Update it struck up at 45% for 3 hrs, now it has again struck up at 95% for >2hrs. If I download it from the Catalog site of MS using IE, it will download to a separate folder. How do I "Install" it subsequently?

A:How to install Cumulative Update KB3189866

In File Explorer go to the folder where it was downloaded. Double-click on the .msu file there to start the install. Mine was called windows10.0-kb3189866-x64_2c3e91a8162269579c8bf26a502c620d41efef0d.msu -yours may be a different name if you have the 32-bit version of Windows.
