Adobe Reader DC Script error when opening or saving to sharepoint 2013

Q: Adobe Reader DC Script error when opening or saving to sharepoint 2013

Hi Everyone,
We are getting an error with Adobe Reader DC when trying to open or save files to Sharepoint 2013.
An Error has occurred in the script on this page
Line: 42
Char: 5
Error: Unable to get property 'empty' of undefined or null reference
Code: 0
URL: domain.com/_vti_bin/owssvr.dll?diagview=FileOpen&FIledialogFilterValue=*-pdf&location=filepath
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page? Yes/No
Whatever option we press (yes/no) the error will not go away.

This happens in the open or save window that opens within Adobe Reader DC version 2015.010.20056
At this stage more than 1 Windows 8.1 Pro 64 systems are affected, and some of the same version systems are not affected.
I can confirm that the open/save window on Office products (2013 word, Outlook and Excel) work fine and are not affected, it just seems to be Adobe Reader DC.
Please let us know how we might fix this.
Thanks in advance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

We just upgraded to Office 2013. Since the upgrade some users are unable to edit Office documents that they open through SharePoint. I can see that the documents are opened as read only. Even if they select to edit the document in SharePoint it throws up an alert saying that they don't have permissions to edit the document.

I checked all permissions and they appear to be OK. Is there any setting in Office 2013 that is maybe defaulted to read only or something?

hi guys,

why is it that on my computer, when i download or open a link to a .PDF file, i have the options to either OPEN, SAVE, or CANCEL right from there. there is no need to save it to a location before i can open it...i can just open it. but on my girlfriend's computer, it only gives me the options to SAVE, or CANCEL...no open option... i must save it and then open it. it's really annoying.

it is the same version of adobe acrobat reader and i even uninstalled her version and reinstalled it again hoping that it would fix the problem. is there a patch for Internet Explorer that is causing the issue (we are both using IE 6). anyone have any ideas?

A:Adobe Reader 8 closes 5-10 seconds after opening - HiJackThis log included

I'm not qualified to advise on HJT logs, so I have no idea if yours shows anything wrong. Are you having problems with anything other than Adobe?

While you're waiting for advice regarding your log, there are three things you might want to consider;

1. Check that you have the latest version of Adobe, (8.1.2) and, if you don't, uninstall your present copy and download and install the latest one ;http://www.filehippo.com/download_adobe_acrobat_reader/

2. If you already have 8.1.2, try uninstalling and reinstalling it and see if that 'cures' the problem, or,

3. Uninstall Adobe and use Foxit Reader instead. It's a smaller download and seems to do everything Adobe can do ; http://www.filehippo.com/download_foxit/

Hi Tapsee.

Do you have CenterTools DriveLock? If so, uninstall it, at least as a test.

If you dont have it, then I would say that a stray crash dump is not enough to debug an issue. Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

So let us know the results.

I updated to Adobe Reader 9.2 from Adobe's website this morning and when I got home, it said Adobe updater needs attention. It was offering to install 8.1.4. Maybe because I haven't restarted yet. I thought that was weird. Several problems trying to open a pdf file after updating. Said tab has been restored and kicked me out of reader a few times. Finally it let me into the PDF and said it was parsing the data or configuring the file for reading or somesuch. I hope it stops behaving badly after a restart. paj692

A:Solved: I'm using Adobe Reader 9.2 why is the updater offering Adobe Reader 8.1.4

Adobe has released some information about some big security holes in Adobe software: http://www.adobe.com/support/security/

You can turn off the updater as follows:
1. Load ADobe Reader
2. Go to Edit, Preferences
3. Select Updater at the bottom
4. Select 'Do not down or install updates automatically'
5. Click OK

Hello, I'm trying to import data from an online website that constantly updates its database. However, I can't do it with the Web Query from Excel 2013. After showing the Script Error display, I clicked continue instead of stopping it just to find out that I couldn't scroll down the Web Query page. Furthermore, I couldn't cancel so I had to use Task Manager to end the task of Excel 2013. I'm aware that it is using IE as a browser for the Web Query, maybe changing the browser would help? If it's not possible to do so, how can I fix this script error problem?

After updating to 6.0.2, and after clicking "save a copy" of a pdf file, i get the following message "This document does not allow you to save any changes you have made to it unless you are using Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard or Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional. You will only be saving a copy of the original document. Do you want to continue?"

QUESTION 1: If I went back to 6.0.1, would I be able to "save changes"?

QUESTION 2: As for it's mention of "saving changes", i don't seem to be able to MAKE any changes to any pdf file anyway. Does my question #1 also pertain to making changes? My only choices appear to be "Copy to Clipboard" which I then paste into my word processor to edit. Is a person supposed to be able to edit in Adobe, or is transferring text to a word processor the only way to edit in Adobe?

I use SharePoint 2010 and 2013 and need Designer for both versions. 2010 has installed fine, but 2013 gets almost all the way through the install then unhelpfully just says "Microsoft SharePoint Designer encountered an error during setup" and no further details given. I'm running Office 32-bit on a 64-bit machine. The issues have been with the 32-bit version. I know that with the rest of Office being 32-bit I need to stick with that, but any ideas on how to troubleshoot the install? Thanks!

A:SharePoint Designer 2013 install issue

That's very interesting. I can certainly pass that on to the server team. I don't have Admin rights on my machine. The strange thing is the previous person who used this computer had no issues with running both versions (prior to the machine being wiped for me) which makes it all the more surprising that there'd be an issue.

I am experiencing a issue with the IE11 browser specifically when trying to select from the address book/people picker within SharePoint 2013 and it is not bringing
up the people pick box to select a user from. When I click on the address book it does nothing at all. The people picker is not working in IE, but working on my Chrome browser just fine so that made me believe it could possibly be a browser issue. I am trying
to find a fix as majority of the users at my company use IE v11, so I was researching what could possibly be causing this for this browser only and being it is a sporadic occurrence.

I have tried setting the sharepoint.com site within the 'Compatibility View Settings', and also modified the custom level security zone and cleared my cache. And
nothing is seem to be helping me resolve this issue.

Any help would be appreciated in advance!

hey guys I was a little confused if this was the right place 'all other applications'
So I have extremely limited experience with Sharepoint 2013.
But my boss asked me today if I could just 'check out' what possibilities we might have with sharepoint 2013.
Regarding two things.
1: We have documentation spread all over our 'older sharepoint' and 3 other purchased systems..
this documentation is everything from firewall logs, to password lists, IP lists, printer manuals, etc etc.
2: We have our own constructed Wiki, in reality we have 600 documents in a folder.
like: "How to get rid of this virus" "How to push our security out on iphones" articles to help us in the IT department.
We have an Active Directory and Exchange user setup.
So lets say you wanted to sort all this out, and have it placed in one spot.
with easy search functions, and of course the possibility to limit users as only our Admin accounts from the AD should
be allowed to view the password lists.

Not knowing anything about sharepoint 2013, could you maybe point me in a direction towards something that might be suitable?
also if you plan on suggesting alternatives, let me make it clear we don't wish this to be online, no cloud services

Not sure what I did but I recently modified a document on our SharePoint and saved it locally. Now when I open that master document on SharePoint it opens the one I saved locally a while back and asks if I want to update the server. How can I open these master documents on sharepoint without having it ask to update the server. I'd hate to accidentally save over the master document.

I'm using MS Office 2013, and SharePoint 2010.

Mine is more of a "shoot from the hip" response-- but hopefully a help.

A question I should have begun with: Does it appear OK on the screen?

What I would do it download & install Foxit (a free alternative .pdf reader) and see if it does the same thing. (You can always uninstall it if you wish-- however, I am considering uninstalling Adobe Reader for my everyday reader needs-- Foxit is a great replacement).

(It's the free reader you are looking for- the pro-pac does add additional features- but for your purposes the free reader is the test I'd run)

I, too hate Adobe Reader, but it is used in our business environment constantly. When one of my users tries to paste an adobe page into Microsoft Powerpoint 2003, it comes up with the error message "There was an error opening this document. File cannot be found." It will eventually paste the page but it takes almost a minute. I have spent hours researching this error and it doesn't happen on every PC just one at the moment. User is using Adobe Reader 9.2, recent updates applied. I have check to be sure Do Not Save Encrypted page to Disk is unchecked in IE settings under the Advanced tab, I have made sure Display PDF in Browser is checked, cleared temp files, run a reg clean/fix utility. There are many post similar about this on the Adobe website but of course, no answers. Nothing specific for Powerpoint though. I truly feel this is a setting that needs to be fixed on this PC. OS is Windows XP, SP3, with Windows updates applied on a regular basis. Any ideas?

Firstly thanks for all the help in the past, much appreciated.

Now to today?s challenge, when I go to view a PDF file over the net I get message ?The plugin did not initialize properly? or ?plugin found but an error has occurred?

Can someone help me out with a shove in the right direction?

A:Plugin Error, Adobe Reader 7

Older versions could be fixed by: Open Adobe Acrobat Reader and then go to Edit > Preferences > General >. In that box under Options, uncheck "Allow Fast Web View" and click OK at the bottom. Then go back to your browser. The pdf file should load.

This may still apply for V7.

Other problems that have been identified:
* The file does not start with '%PDF' - Some users have reported this error message when opening pdf files through Internet Explorer 4.x, 5.x and 6.x. This problem is not the PDF file, it's a problem between Internet Explorer and Acrobat Reader. We suggest that you save the PDF file before viewing it. This can be done by right clicking on the article title or icon and selecting "Save Target As...".

* Plugin did not initialize properly - This error can appear in All Internet Browsers, causing the PDF file not to show in the browser window. We found two solutions to this problem.
(1) You must have the Adobe Acrobat program running in the background.
(2) You save the PDF file before viewing it (see above).

I am new at this, so please bear with me. I am operating on Windows Vista on a new laptop. Adobe Reader 8.1 came installed on the computer. I went to the IRS website to complete a fillable form. It downloaded ok, but I received a message:

"Please fill out the following form. You cannot save data typed into this form. Please print your completed form if you would like a copy for your records."

I am using this for an online class so I have to be able to save it.
Also, my friend has the same Adobe Reader 8, but is working off of the Windows XP operation system, and he is able to save it.

What's the difference? Can anyone tell me how to be able to save this file? I would appreciate it. Thanks.
