I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

How can i replace the hdd for a ssd in my Aspire VN7-792G?

A:replace hdd for ssd in aspire VN7-792G

Hi,You need to familiarise with disassembly procedure by watching videos, you need to decide which type of SSD you actually want to install, you have the option of replacing the current HDD with 2.5" normal SSD or M.2 SATA SSD.Now, you need to back up your current drive image to another external hard drive, and create a recovery disk using a program like Macrium reflect or similar program. Then you need to install the SSD, go to BIOS and make the dvd/USB as the first boot, connect the external hard drive, insert the DVD/USB recovery disk, reboot. Now, you can recover the image you backed up earlier to the new SSD.If you need more clarification, please post your question.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hhqm2yg_aiI&t=466shttp://www.macrium.com/help/v5/How_to/Rescue/Create_a_Standard_Windows_PE_Rescue_Environment.htmhttp://kb.macrium.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50074.aspx

Hello. My Aspire VN7-792G got some beer spilled on it's keyboard by someone while I was not at home and now no longer turns on.The Power Off USB Charge Port still charges my phone when I connect a USB cable to it.The Light that confirms it recieves power from the AC (both blue and amber lights). My thoughts are that the beer messed up the stuff under the power button (which is integrated in the keyboard apprently) and no longer works. Is there anything I can do to turn it on in a different way?Any thoughts on this?

Very disappointed in this product.  any solutions?

Okay, I couldn't find anyone with this problem, so I'm creating a new post. One month ago I've bought VN7-792G and I'm satisfied with it. But there is one strange problem - during certain events (receiving notification via Facebook/Steam, when launching a sound file or jumping through a YouTube video) I can hear a silent "tick" sound from lower left corner of my laptop. I've tried updating BIOS and sound drivers, but this problem persists.

A lot of people use HWinfo to help them determine what brand of HDD they have installed. https://www.hwinfo.com/download.php If you're asking the question as a pre-purchase question......here's the entire list of primary and secondary drives that Acer might use in that model.  Maybe someone else can tell you which one is installed on the specific serial number you're inquiring about.

Hi, It's perfectly normal. It's a notebook with small heatsink and not a PC with a huge fan and heatsink. The temperatures are normal, and it can go even higher which can cause your CPU and GPU to throttle. In case of the 792G since it is a 17 inch one, you probably will not have problems with throttling because it can have bigger airflow than a smaller 15 inch one. And regarding the battery. Is not removable, or you can remove it just if you take apart the notebook. But generaly is not a removable battery.

I now have the speakers icon in the playback tab and the mic icon in the recording tab, i thought everything was good until my daughter told me that the headphone jack now has no sound when you connect headphones or powered speakers. The main speakers wont cut off and all sound still comes thru the built in speakers. I have tried to find any setting properties for the atapi headphone jack. It shows up in sound properties for the speakers but you cant do anything. Please advise thanking you in advance

Have you installed Service Pack 3 for XP? It updates the Microsoft UAA driver and you need to do that before installing the Realtek drivers.

You can also try installing the drivers from the Realtek site: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
Use this one: "Windows 2000, Windows XP/2003(32/64 bits) Driver only (Executable file)"

Guys,

Whenever I start playing an audio file on my Acer Aspire One laptop (OS Windows XP SP3, Atom 1,6 with 1gb ram), it starts to skip and glitch on the sound.

And sometimes, it will even crash (Blue Screen) when it's playing something, and I have to reboot.

I can't figure out what's happening.

I tried to update the bios drivers, the soundcard drivers. I verified the system with chkdsk and others utilities to repair possible errors in system, but I cannot resolve the problem.

I reinstalled the Windows Media Player, XP Codec Pack, Realplayer, and the problem persists.

So, anyone know how I can fix this?

Hi, I've got a problem with my gogo mobile.

I have a new aspire one 533 netbook, bought from a friend and never used. Started it up and found that it has no audio. I have been searching far and wide but haven't found anyone with this problem.

Here's my basic specs;

Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.1
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Starter , 32 bit
Processor: Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N455 @ 1.66GHz, x64 Family 6 Model 28 Stepping 10

Hard Drives: C: Total - 225060 MB, Free - 206351 MB;
Motherboard: Acer, AO533 , V1.05, Base Board Serial Number
Antivirus: McAfee VirusScan, Updated and Enabled

It uses realtek high definition audio.

I've tried both the available drivers from the acer site, plus the driver that windows installed automatically.

I've checked all the possible sound levels I can find, everything seems to be ok.

I've tried with headphones and external speakers- no sound through those either.

When playback is happening, the sound bar on the bottom right hand speaker display moves as if it is playing, and the device manager tells me that the device is working fine, but I have never heard a sound through this computer.

Tried a system restore with the acer erecovery management tool (even though I only just set up the computer yesterday), but to no avail.

I went into bios but there were no options for changing system sound ... Read more

Hi,Since the beginning I own this laptop it overheats. As soon as I play a game the CPU temperature will go up and fluctuate around 80-100 degrees celcius. I had to manually turn down the maximum CPU speed to about 60% in energy saving settings to keep it under 70C. This of course has quite some impact on the speed of the laptop. I cannot do the things advertised on the product page without hurting the laptop (assuming 100C is dangerous for a processor). What can I do?

I bought the machine in June and it was silent, but now we're hearing a very low volume hum/buzz (kind of like a mosquito passng by your ear, except 3 octaves lower) more and more frequently. It emanates from the right side - approximately under the Enter Key vicinity and occurs intermittently for maybe 2 or 4 seconds as the machine is actively processing data or updating webpages. It's not correlated with the fan turning on/off. Any ideas?

A:No audio from Aspire 5742z

You may need to set the default recording device and if you have "System Mixer" (may be called Stereo Mix) you should set that as the default recording device.

Go to the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel. In the Recording Tab section it will display the recording device options. If the System Mixer/Stereo Mix is shown, make that the default recording device. If its not shown, RIGHT click in a blank space in that panel and then check the boxes to show disabled and disconnected devices. If it now shows up you can enable it and then make it the default recording device.

This usually takes care of the problem, if you are using the PC's sound device.

Hello, My Acer randomly BSOD with PNP error and after restart I have no sound and I get a red x on my speaker icon in the lower right corner where the clock is. I checked the Device Manager and I get a yellow exclamation mark under System Devices and it seems the problematic device is Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) Audio Controller. Under Sound, video and game controllers I have only one driver left - NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM). When I click View --> Show hidden devices it shows the audio drivers which means they are disabled somehow, I think? Anyhoo, I've updated the problematic driver and hoped that this solved the issue but to no avail. I'm afraid to uninstall the driver because it's under System Devices and not under Sound, video and game controllers categories. I am starting to think it might be an hardware issue, but I seriously hope not. Perhaps you have some ideas what I could try to fix this?

My new VN7-792G arrived a few days ago and is a very nice machine indeed. The only odd thing is that the Fan seems to be quite loud when is starts going. I had an XPS machine before this so I am used to noisy fans, but this is quite high pitched and sounds almost as if it's imbalanced and reminds me of fans in old machines that begin to whine towards the end of their life. Oddly, the noise decreases if I lift one (or both) corners beside the hinges even slightly. I've also tried it on different surfaces in case it was a vibration issue between the laptop and the table it was on, but no success. Has anyone experienced anything similar, or is this normal?

A:Acer VN7 792G Fan noise

I think I had a very similar issue on VN7 792G, a noise like whistling. I was about to return the product but I think I fixed it. You probably won't like the solution. One of the below solved my fan noise issue (I don't know which) 1- Opened the case and investigate anything that might vibrate due to fan. First I saw that Acer forgot one of the screw of the mainboard so I placed a new one and screwed motherboard firmly no prevent any vibration. Also close to larger fan plastic casing of the (vibrating) fan was touching to the (stationary) case.  I put a soft electric band in between. 2- I put a little machine oil to both fans. This part is tricky, you need to know where to put (check online), also you will need an oil with small sized needle heads. It possible to access fans after removing keyboard. I suggest not turn upside down for sometime if you decide to put oil. best,

Hello. I have a lot of issues with my Acer VN7-792G for a long time.First time I received the laptop, I had several issues with the Nvidia drivers while playing games, the GPU would overheat and freeze the laptop completely, along with a very unpleasant noise. It does that even on Very Low settings. I could finally find the answer to my issue when someone on Nvidia's forum told me to never update Nvidia drivers on laptops. (I was always updating to the latest driver through GeForce Experience)I followed his advice and got back to the driver provided by the manufacturer's website (which is 359.xx), since then no issue occured, I could play games on High/Ultra 120fps without freezing/crashing. I reinstalled Windows recently through the ISO provided by Microsoft's website. I disabled Windows Update to update the drivers, and I installed all the drivers provided by Acer's website for my computer, using my serial number. But after few minutes of playing, I still experience freeze/crash, and by that I mean the laptop completely freezes and the only thing I can do is to force shut down, holding power button for few seconds. The laptop is very hot at this point. Highest temp I could record for the GPU was around 70-80°c before it freeze/crash.So I'm starting to think that the problem isn't from the Nvidia driver anymore, since the moment I reinstalled Windows 10 (64bits). Also, apart from the GPU really overheating, now the HDD seems to heat a lot too. A:Acer VN7-792G CRASH - Tried everything

Hi and wellcome, First update BIOS, if you don't have the latest updates. It is highly recommended since as you can see some update the VBIOS, which has a link with the video. Also it updates the management engine which monitors various parameters (eg temperature) on the notebook. Second be sure you have installed the intel management engine drivers from the acer drivers download page. XTU will not break the warranty, but be careful because it can cause system instability if you undevolt too much. Since you have a 792G, which is bigger than any 59XG notebooks I don't think you should have any issues with thermal throttling. So I would not set the CPU to 99%. It would limit the system performance.

It's like watching a poorly dubbed foreign movie. It's only off by a little bit, but it's still irritating. I was hoping there was a reason for it happening/a way to fix it. The laptop is new and in good condition. I keep up with updates (it currently has Windows 10), use Google Chrome, and my Wifi connection is strong. Did I just get unlucky...?  Thanks in advance!

If this concerns Netflix, try this,1) In Netflix go to the bottom.2) Click on Help Center.3) Then click on Internet Connection Speed Recommendations.4) Then click on Video Quality.5) I set mine to Medium 6) Finally, clear the box that reads, "Prefer HTML5 player instead of Silverlight."7) Click the "X" in the upper right to end procedure.8) The audio and video will now be in sync.

Hi All, I have an Aspire X3990 running Windows 10. Previously it worked fine with sound going through the HDMI however recently the machine developed a fault and I had to perform the Windows 10 Refresh. All drivers are shown to be installed however there is no longer any audio coming through HDMI and Audio icon showing as a red cross. I have tested the cable on another machine and this works fine with audio - the monitor is also fine so can rule both of them out. The system has 2 sets of Audio Drivers - both say running fine, both have standard Microsoft Drivers installed - running an update says you are running current drivers, uninstall and allow it to detect results in the same. Drivers website on Acer does not hold any Win10 drivers for X3990, and no Audio Drivers for Win 8.1. I did try the Win 7 Audio drivers but this failed to install. Both the audio drivers have the following DeviceID's HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0662&SUBSYS_10258100&REV_1001HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10DE&DEV_001C&SUBSYS_174B3214&REV_1001 From what I have seen in the past, most HDMI audio is controlled via an NVidia HDMI Audio Driver - however cant seem to see anything on NVidia site other than the latest GeForce driver (which I downloaded for the installed card Geforce 520) Any ideas? Thanks

The sound on my laptop has disappeared. It doesn't seem to be a problem with the settings, unless I'm overlooking something. When I hook up my laptop on EXTERNAL speakers, it WORKS! But not with built-in speakers. It worked fine yesterday... Could it be because of some update of Windows 10? I've already downloaded and installed the latest sound driver from Acer. No luck there.Any suggestions on what to do? Big thanks in advance!D.Laptop: Acer Aspire E17i5-6200UGForce 920M

Hi,  I have installed a new 500GB Hard drive and have installed WIndows 7 (legacy boot).  I have dowloaded the latest drivers from the Acer website for my product and for W7. After installing all the required drivers I am not able to get the audio out where I plugg in my head set to work, it is like the port is not enabled or something.  Can anyone help? Regards, Bombesly45

I lost my audio.  If i look at Device Manager, it doesn't even have and entry for Sound and Video Controllers.  I need to know how to restore the audio device and then what drivers to use.  Thanks in advance.Michael
