PC suddenly died on me, won't power on anymore

Q: PC suddenly died on me, won't power on anymore

During playing Diablo3 my PC all of a sudden shut down. No bieps, no messages, nothing, just black ... shutdown. Because it was this sudden my first reaction was a power outage in the house. As I was about to check the basement I noticed my screen still was powered on, so it couldn't be an outage.

I tried to turn the PC back on, but pressing the power button didn't do anything.

I did notice the top of the case was pretty warm (not auch warm) but still pretty warm. It's always been like this ever since I bought the PC.

I opened the side of the case and didn't really notice any burning smells or anything, but again, the inside of the case was pretty warm.

Now after a couple of hours the PC still won't power on, so something is probably broke.

I'm a complete hardware noob, so how do I go about checking what is broken?
Is it the PSU? Or the motherboard?

When the PSU is 'on' I can see a green LED light on the motherboard. Is this possible when there is something wrong with the PSU, that the motherboard still gets power?

I'm willing to make the bet and buy a new PSU (because the current one is an unnamed PSU that was included with the low budget case).

Is there anything I can do to check components as a newb?

Preferred Solution: PC suddenly died on me, won't power on anymore

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It sounds like your computer has overheated which is why the computer all of a sudden shut down. Try checking to make sure you've got some grey thermo stuff on the CPU.

Hi everyone,

I went to my PC this morning to discover it refused to turn on, and no response of any kind happening (no sounds, lights or fans operating).

My initial thoughts were that the PSU had died... so I went and picked up a new PSU, which didn't change anything. Still no response.

I'm now assuming the motherboard is faulty.

some factors that may or may not have anything to do with the cause of the problem:

- Dust - when I opened up the case there was a lot (almost a blanket) of dust in my zalman CPU fan, graphics card and also a little generally within the case. Although I hadn't experienced any artifacts suggesting stuff was overheating (plus it's damn cold in my house this time of year, so that probably helped)

- There was a powercut during the night - somehow this might have triggered what's caused the fault? I also had set my PC to sleep as per usual, instead of switching it off.

- The extra Front panel USB ports on the top of my case stopped working about 2 days before. I accidently tripped over a USB device plugged into it, and it twisted the port slightly, but still carried on working for the rest of the day, but at some point it stopped and I had to only use the back ports.

Is there any suggestions you guys have to find the cause of the problem?

A:Suddenly died - no power or motherboard response

Hi Mike. The power cut you mention is interesting. Did the fuse in your house trip? Are other items in the room working off the same plugs?..because thats happened to me before.

Oooh, dust will kill in the long run if it's not cleaned...

I'm writing this from my phone so bear with me, also, i know nothing on computers so please simplify as much as possible. I have an hp windows vista laptop that is not wanting to connect to the internet. I have the new clear internet and i'm using the usb wireless modem deal. It was working excellent up until 3 days ago when my laptop died because i forgot to plug the cord in. I rebooted the laptop next thing i know the internet isn't working. It recognizes the device but won't connect and there are 10 signal bars (the max) showing that it's good. It attempts connecting but isnever successful. I tried the usb modem on my friend's laptop and it worked perfectly fine so i know the laptop shutting off triggered something. I have called the clear tech support team and they went through every step. I installed/reinstalled so many times. they had me do some commands like netsh winsock, ipconfig delete, etc but i believe the issue is on my end i just don't know how to resolve. Thanks in advance for the help.

I was playing a game online at a friends house, using their wireless, when all of a sudden my wireless died. I thought it was just their wireless but when i went home to connect on mine, i still had a problem.

I've tried turning the switch on and off to no prevail. When i go to connect to a network, my wireless detects nothing. I found an option to find the problem, and it told me my wireless was turned off, so i checked the switch and it was on. i also went to my computer and to device manager, and checked my network devices and they are apparently all working fine, so i really don't know what the problem is here. Please help...

also, i saw on another post that i should copy+paste what my what my cmd says when i type ipconfig/all

A:Wireless died suddenly, help

Quite the mystery!!!

If your card was disabled or not working it wouldn't show up with this much information in the ipconfig /all report.

It also looks like you're on Windows Vista of some sorts since your home path is: C:\Users

Your Wireless card's network stack is also working. It's assigning itself an Automatic Private IP Address. (APIPA) That's the weird little address that you get starting with 169.xxx.xxx.xxx in the IPv4 Address line. Usually to me, it means that you computer tried to ask the network for an address but nothing was configured to respond to it. So it gave itself an address - which is mostly useless in this case.

I think, maybe, could you try to disable any firewall settings? (Just turn your firewall(s) to Off and test again to see if the problem went away.) If it goes away, then you know that some rule in the firewall is doing this to you. Do you have Symantec Anti-virus installed? Because I've seen that come with a firewall that screws up a computer on more than one occasion. It wouldn't be the right way to configure a firewall, but it might be blocking the broadcast responses.

Hello.I was using my t420 just fine, no symptomps or malfunctions, till today.I powered on the laptop and after the light and the caps lock led flashed, the wifi icon went on and nothing else happened. The screen reamained off (not just black, really off with no backlight). I've removed the two dimms (one first, then the other), i removed every drive and pci device, deattached the system battery for a minute, replaced the thermal thing between the cpu and the thing that cools the cpu (sorry I'm not english) and yet nothing. Then, when I've reassembled it entirely, it goes on, giving me the message "machine type and serial number are invalid", then goes normally to the desktop. After I power it off, it is dead again. Sorry for the long post. Can you help me? Is there something I can do, besides throwing it in the trashcan?

Hey All.....am new at this so please advise if more info is needed or am doing this wrong.

My problem.....
Bought a new computer 2 months and had nothing but problems with the USB ports. Mother board has been replaced twice, now third one is gone.....only the USB ports.
Thank goodness it was under warranty but they are hesitating on the last one.
The computer came with a wireless keyboard, I had and use a wireless mouse, I have a HP printer connected as well as a Maxtor 100 gig external hard drive (which is seldom turned on) The mouse and maxtor were connected to the old computer and worked great, the only things new are the computer/wireless keyboard and printer.

Initially they thougt it was the Ipod which my daughter had, but that was not used this last time, so now they think it is the printer (which was used but not that much). So, now they don't know what causes the USB port to die (all of them). Also, when they go so does the tuner for Meida Center as well as the Card Read.
CD continues to work and everything else i.e. plug in mouse and keyboard.

So...any suggestions as to what casues USB ports to die.....suddenly with no warning, and all at once.

Thanks for suggestions.

I've got a problem that I hope some of you can help shed some light on.

On tuesday afternoon I was working heavily to create a basic linux shell in c, using Bloodshed Dev-C++ and an putty (SSH) connection to the linux servers on my university.

The OS is XP home german version.
The connection was using the built-in wireless connection to a D-Link wifi router. It had a fully charged battery, but was using the the power adapter.

Now, everything was working just fine, I leave the computer for a little while and when I return, it's turned off.
When I try to turn it on, nothing happens. I pull the plug, reseat the battery and nothing happens. When I reconnect the power line, I get a very brief light on the power led, but that is that.

One or two days earlier I had a problem waking up from the sleep state, where the computer stopped loading XP and gave me a black screen instead of the login screen. After a hard off (4 sec power button) it worked like it should.

Does anyone have any idea on what the problem could be?
I called a shop that sells rebranded MSI notebooks, and this was the first time they'd heard of such a problem.

I'd call MSI, but they don't have a support office in Norway. I will use the warranty, but since I bought the computer abroad, it takes some planning, and thus if there is an easy fix I can do myself, I'd rather do that.

Any help you can give is appreciated!

I'v been having some problems with BSOD's lately (BCCode 116) and had been told to do a stresstest of my GPU(GTX 760) with Furmark, which caused BSOD immediately. I then tried swapping out my GPU with my brothers GPU(GT 730), and the test ran for 10-ish seconds, then my computer shut down, and now it wont start up again.

I tried removing the GPU to see if that would help, but no. When I press the powerbutton nothing happens at all. I had a similar problem before, that my PC wouldn't boot, but back then when i pressed the powerbutton the fan on the PSU would move ever so slightly. Now nothing happens.

I dont know what to do now. Any help?

I've searched a bit on the internett and found that people say to disconncet all periferals, and try to boot with just mobo, psu and CPU. That didnt work. I decided to try with my brothers PSU. When I press the powerbutton, the LED at the front of the case lights up briefly, the fans rotate 1/4 of a full spin, and the it shuts down.

Does this indicate that both PSU and the mobo is defect?

Earlier this evening Windows started throwing the "Unrecognized USB device" error in the system tray. Clicked into it and disabled the device, found nothing deactivated, and went about my business.

The system kept throwing the error over the course of the next half hour or so, even after a reboot, and then my USB keyboard and mouse both cut out simultaneously.

So, things I know for certain:

(1) My USB ports are not blown entirely. Speakers still work. External is getting power when I connect it, but not autoplaying or showing in My Computer (external works fine on Ubuntu box).

(2) It is not an issue with just this particular mouse and keyboard. I've tried three of each peripheral (all USB); nothing works. On a reboot, the keyboards' Lock keys give a brief flash, but don't allow any input whatsoever.

Any ideas? I haven't yet tested with a PS/2 mouse or keyboard, as I can't find one, but if I can pick some up I'll give those a run as well.
update: PS/2 hardware does work.

This is on XP SP2.

A:Keyboard / mouse suddenly died

Either your USB circuitry is faulty or, more likely, the USB software has corrupted. Go into device manager and uninstall everything listed under the USB section. Shutdown and reboot to allow Windows to find the hardware and reinstall the software (will require no intervention from you). Once done, test.

I got my computer back from a friend but i noticed the case fans weren't working. I sent him a txt and he said it was working fine when he had it and my brother said it suddenly stopped working when he was on it so i'm guessing it didn't die due to my friend cleaning it for me.

Only the CPU and GPU fans are running. I have a fan on the side panel wall, back, top and one in front.
The side panel fan works when i connect it to the motherboard and not the power supply.

The back and top fans dont work at all and they are connected to the motherboard via the 4 pin connector? 4 holes made to a square(hope you can understand this).

oo <- like this.

the front and side fans have both oooo cord or ... (3 pin?)

This PC is custom built but the place i bought it from did it for me so everything is neatly done and i cant rearrange most things without cutting the tags that are holding the wiring.

I dont know where to go from here so I need some help.

Heres a link to some photos imgur: the simple image sharer

Pic 1 shows back and top fans not running.

Pic 2 just shows the side fan

Pic 3 dont know if you can see it properly but usually the side fan cord connects to the cord labelled "1" and that cord is connected with the front fan aswell which then is connected to the power supply.

pic 4 just general pic of my comp.

Last Monday I turned my PC on and after 45 minutes it slowly crashed to a complete freeze up, so I manually retsarted, and it happened again 45 minutes later. Since then, whenever I turn it on, it powers up but does absolutely nothing. There's no beep, nothing appears on screen but it stays powered up. So I thought it's probably the graphics card, so I bought a new one only to find it's not that. The PSU is fairly new, so I don't think it's that. I don't *thinik* it's a hard drive problem because I tested another hard drive in the machine and the same thing happened.

I'm guessing something's burnt out, and I'm worried it's probably the motherboard or something.

What do you think?

My pc suddenly died while I was using it. At the time I was doing nothing more than surfing the net with one browser open. I heard a pop (like a balloon popping) and the pc slowly died like the current was being drained. There was no power outage at the time, plus it was connected to a surge protector. All other things connected to the power bar are still working fine. There was no smoke or burnt smell. When I opened the case I could hear something loose in the power supply so I figured that was the prob & replaced it with a brand new one. The pc is still dead. Nothing happens when I try to turn it on. I have tried removing all of the components one by one & still no luck. The only sign of life is the little green light next to the PCI slots on the mobo. I have not tried to remove the processor as of yet... Is the problem the motherboard or the processor? How can I tell? (I don't have another pc to test with.) Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

A:PC suddenly died, motherboard or cpu problem?

When your PSU fried it may have taken the motherboard and anything attached to it with it. If you don't have a new core two duo or a new socket AM2 processor now is the perfect time to consider an upgrade if you have the money. Rebuilding old technology is often wasted money; it just depends how old you're talking about.

Replace your motherboard and attach just the devices you'll need to boot your computer. You'll need your PSU , processor, video card, hard drive, memory and CD ROM. You'll probably have to reinstall Windows too.

Today, I traveled from my apartment to my "home" home, where the wireless network is set at a "Home" security level. However, my wireless now will not connect at all.

Did a hard reset, removing battery, pressing power button for 1 min etc, still dead.
I thought it might be the adapter which looked burnt by the two prongs, hence ordered a new oem adapter, still to no avail.

Geeksquad apparently charges a good $50 just for a diagnostic, hence I'd like to know if it's the motherboard or other component based on the symptoms and circumstances.

How can a motherboard die simply from carrying a laptop without dropping it or bumping into anything, which i didn't.

We have a Lenovo ThinkCentre desktop computer, running Windows 7 Professional. It's a few years old, and for the most part has been running fine. However, it has now inexplicably died and won't come on again.

We've been having a few blackouts and brownouts lately. It's not one of those computers that stays off when the power returns; if it was set to 'on' when the power went out, it'll start back up once the power returns.

A couple of days ago, it had gone into standby or sleep mode, and for some reason wouldn't come out of it. The laser mouse wasn't lit up, which often happens when a computer is in standby mode, but when I hit keys on the keyboard, it still didn't come on. After opening and closing the disc drive, and pushing the power button a couple of times, I finally gave up and held the button until it force shut-down. The next time it was turned on, however, it worked fine, and didn't seem to exhibit any unusual behavior.

So yesterday, the computer was working. It was left running overnight, as it generally is. The following morning, however, it was no longer on. Pushing the power button yields no power lights or sound of anything running. I unplugged it from the surge protector, then plugged it back in again, choosing a different plug on the surge protector. Still nothing. It shouldn't be an issue with the surge protector itself, as the monitor and internet router connected to it work. I don't think there was an outage, either, because no clocks were reset.... Read more

The Power Supply Unit may have failed. This is a relatively easy fix if you get the part. Any PSU over 550Watts will do. If that doesn't fix it, you can always return the part.

Hi all,
Lately I've had my laptop plugged in a lot because I've been running some design analysis software thats required a long time to solve. Anyway my laptop suddenly just cut off today whilst on battery. Straight away I assumed it was the battery as I had a similar issue back in 2010 with my old device. I've had my current laptop for about 2 and a half years. I ran a battery report which came up with the following information:
Cycle count: 489Design capacity: 48840Last full charge: 38373
So its obvious my battery isn't at full capacity as expected. However, could this be the cause of it randomly losing power? I'm thinking more of a calibration issue. Any ideas on how to calibrate?

Many thanks in advance!

I've been using this laptop for a few years now, and while it has its fair share of small problems (track pad not working, keyboard coming loose and sometimes not working, speakers slowly dying, start ups where the screen doesn't turn on.) Despite those issues I always found a way to either fix or at least work around the problems until today.I was just watching YouTube videos when the laptop without any warning shut off instantly, even though it was plugged in, and mostly charged. After that none of the power lights would go on at all, not even the charging one. I tried unplugging it, removing the battery, holding down the power button for 30 second, and every combination of those steps I could think of. Is there any hope of saving this laptop, or is it bricked?

But attempts to boot with the battery alone. But shuts down after the keyboard light flickers twice

Disconnect all the external peripherals from the computer including the battery and the ac adapter and release the flea power by pressing and holding the power button for about 30 seconds.
Tried  to turn it on with with the cable plugged in without the battery,  which didn't work
Re-install the battery with the cable unplugged
Turn on the computer and check. Nothing happened except the keyboard light flickered twice without response
Just before the 2nd flicker, you would hear a “click or flicker” as if something is trying to kick in which could not.
What I am saying here is that something is failing before it even gets to POST.
What is it?
It is a shame that a gaming lap top as solid and expensive  as M17X R4  should disappoint and fail just like this.

My 2 year old moderately used laptop battery suddenly died after a windows update. Everything was working fine, the battery still held charge for over 2 hours and now it doesn't work at all. When I hover over the battery icon it says '79% available (plugged in, not charging)'. If I pull out the charger my laptop stops as though it doesn't recognise there's a battery. I ran the HP battery test and it told me the battery is dead. How can a normally functioning laptop battery suddenly die after a standard update? I see there are a number of customers complaining about the battery not charging when switched on but my battery doesn't work at all - although it apparently is 79% charged. Is this normal for HP laptops?

Hey everyone,

My laptop (i'm not sure the make or model matters) suddenly died, it was working fine one minute, left the room for around 30 seconds, came back and has seemingly has no power. The machine has been running purely off the power adapter because there is no battery. There's no lights on, indicating an electrical connection; it's completely dead. I used a phase tester to confirm a good power adapter, so the problem seems to be with the computer. I don't think the electrical input socket (?) is at fault cos it's not loose.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe it has something to do with that internal coin-shaped battery?

I'd really appreciate any help because i'm completely at a loss as to what i should do next...

Could be a dry joint on power connector, underside motherboard try wiggling to see if you get some response, coin battery is only to retain CMOS information.

My power supply died a few days ago and I have replaced it. My PC will now boot but will not send a signal (turn on) the monitor. Everything on the PC seems to work but it just will not turn on signal to the monitor. I have tried two different monitors with the same result.

Hello all,

I have a problem with my external HDD.
When I woke up this morning, windows update had installed some updates and automatically my laptop had restarted.
I tried to log in, but it crashed, immediately, out of the blue.
I thought, ok, can happen, so when it had restarted and after logging in, I wanted to check on some things on my HDD.
But I got a message, saying something like: The USB device is not being recognized.
So I tried again, a couple of times, but I kept getting that message.
After trying to switch usb ports and plugging in and out several times, I didn't even get that message anymore.
That was when I started to realise I had a serious problem here.
The HDD won't show in windows explorer, won't show in device management, and won't show in the BIOS.
It is nowhere to be found, but the HDD itself is plugged in and working, it seems.
I tried to recover data, but all the software I found doesn't find the HDD either, which makes sense considering the BIOS isn't even recognising it.
Is there anything I can do to try and recover my data?
Can my HDD be saved?
I don't know if I've explained my situation clear enough, should there be any questions, please ask.

Thanks in advance,

Aloha everyone! I use Windows XP Pro w/ Service Pack 2 on my Thinkpad Z60m. My problem is -> I can no longer add languages to my computer to type in different languages.

1. When I go to the control panel, I click on "Regional and Language Options", next I click on the "Languages" tab and under "Text services and input languages" I click "Details". After I click details this is the exact error message that pops up:

"An exception occurred while trying to run "shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL input.dll"

2. As you may or may not know, there is an alternate way of accessing the "Details" under the "Text services and input languages" on the "Languages" tab. All you do is right-click on the language bar and left-click on settings. I also tried this method but this time I received a DIFFERENT message. It reads:

"An exception occurred while trying to run "shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\input.dll"

I am confused. What is going on here?? Help Please!!

This started a week or so ago. I had a program pinned to the task bar, but suddenly it was behaving strangely. When I ran one or more instances of the program, they would group together, but not group with the pinned icon. I could move them separately. Just now, in a attempt to fix this, I unpinned the program, and tried to re-pin it, but that option is gone! Dragging the .exe file to the task bar also gives me the 'not allowed' mouse cursor. Pinning any other program and pinning this program to the start menu is still possible.

Before you ask, I've tried the shortcut arrow fix, but I already have, and always had, the IsShortcut key in the registry.

I haven't installed or uninstalled any programs in the mean time (except for updates), and a reboot didn't work either.

My wireless isn't working. Everything was fine until one day when I was in the middle of uploading something. Then it stopped working, and now it refuses to authenticate. Nothing happened to my computer or the router then.
I'm using a TP-Link TL-WN822N USB adapter. Under Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network Connections, the connection is listed as "Attempting to authenticate" when I try to connect.
I've tried using Windows' wireless services and TP-Link's own network manager to remove the connection and start over, and whenever I do that, it says the password is mismatched.
This is definitely NOT a problem with the router. All my housemates' computers (and even my phone) work fine with the router, and my PC can even connect to my phone if I turn on wireless hotspot. I reset the router and modem multiple times anyway.

A:Suddenly can't connect to the router anymore

You need to go to the "Change adapter settings" on the left panel.

There will be 2 main connection; Local Area Connection & Wireless Connection.
Ignore the others.

Select and click on each and right-click, do click on "Disable" for both.

Now, which will you want to connect, LAN or Wireless.

If you want to use Wireless, select the Wireless Connection and right-click on Enable.
From here, it takes a few seconds to connect.

Do note that it only allow either one of them as enable.
Should at anytime it happen again, do the same.

Internet used to work fine but has always been a pain to set up. This morning I _suddenly_ had no connectivity anymore whats-o-ever, it worked fine yesterday. I've had this problem before (where suddenly the internet is gone) but this time I've been unable so far to find the culprit.

I am running Win7 32bit Ultimate, on an Asus M3N78-VM motherboard (LAN chip Realtek RTL8211C). I have the nVidia nForce network driver (no idea how I got that, can't find updates either). I am also running Hamachi, perhaps this gives trouble?

The problem:
Whenever I changed some settings in the network configuration (the LAN adapter -> configure), then when I press close in the adapter window it more often then not freezes. I have to bring it down with the Task Manager, or restart the computer. Same thing whenever I disable / enable the adapter, it just freezes (I must do a hard reset then!).

This is a frustration for long, and I guess the cause of the internet problems. It can have internet but whenever I need to fix it, like now, I just can't get through. The following post used to work: Possible solution for unidentified network access but doesn't anymore (it always freezes when I set the Network Address).

This is what ipconfig /all gives:

A:Suddenly no internet access anymore

When your computer says it has an IP of or subnet, that means it wasn't able to get an IP address from your router's DHCP server.

First thing I would try is "ipconfig /release" then "ipconfig /renew" and then "ping" to see if you get a response. If not, "ipconfig /a" again and check to see if your IP was replaced with 192.168.1.xxx.

Let me know.

Hello all,
for some unknown reason our Canon MG5150 InkJet Printer doesnt get recognized by any of the computers or laptops in our house. i have re-installed the drivers on several of those pc's but its had no effect.

during the driver install the software fails to detect any device. but any other time you plug the usb cable in a message box appears saying USB Device Not Recognized.

i recently bought a new pc tower, using win7 Pro and 64bit system with 32GB ram, i downloaded the 64 bit drivers for the printer from the Canon website but even that gets the same errors when installing the drivers.

my 10 year old son was printing stuff off about 3 weeks ago and since then we've had this problem. ive even tried searching for ways to reset the printer back to factory defaults but had no luck with that either.

can anyone give me some advice as to how to fix this issue.

Where did you download that version of MGADiag from? - it's 4 years out of date!
This makes it very difficult to properly analyse the results.

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
- in your own thread, please

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

Hi all! I had my laptop running last night and I woke up this morning and my computer was frozen. It wasn't the "blue screen of death" as many mention as it was simply frozen but when I turned it back on (and continue to turn it back on) it gets stuck on "Starting Windows" without even proceeding to the Windows log-in screen. Next, when I launch a "system repair" it goes through the process but freezes in the blue "system repair" screen without even showing anything..just the blue background sunshine screen and is just stuck there...under "Advanced Boot Options" the "Last Known Good Configuration" gives me no luck either...I then try "Safe Mode" and under "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" it freezes while "Loading Windows Files" and the last file/driver it shows is \windows\system32\DRIVERS\AtiPcie.sys

I don't know what else to do...I have a Windows 7 64-bit boot disc but this is my small laptop which doesn't have a CD/DVD drive. I can use my USB drive if necessary but I attempted to do that but maybe there is some special way I must install it on my USB drive?? Otherwise I am completely stuck and I am hoping someone can help me out...this is driving me crazy! Thanks again in advance..

Hello Everyone,My Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro-1370 Laptop is working perfectly fine since I bought it on Dcember 2014, however since last week it suddenly stopped to charge. The battery charge is now stuck at 0% and the only way to use it is to plugged it in.Strangely on the task bar the battery icon at 0% still displays "charging" but it won't charge at all.As soon as I unplug power cable the laptops just shuts down within seconds. I didn't do any software updates prior to that happening, so I am wondering if this could be coming from hardware? For instance, dead battery (I don't know maybe 2 years of daily use and it's over), or power charger/cord is not working properly, not allowing charging laptop's battery. My laptop is out of warranty, BTW.Has anyone experienced this ?Thanks in advance for your help.Alexis

I would Check the hard drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic tools.

HD Diagnostic

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.

I'm a computer technician in Balclutha, we set up PC Anywhere about 2 months ago now working over modems, ended up replacing a modem at one end to get it going.

All has been going fine till about 3 days ago where the host now drops connections and the modem's go very sluggish or not at all when talking to each other.

So far I've checked all the settings on both machines, installed a new modem at the Client end which seemed to improve things enough for the machines to connect to each other more than before. I've even had the phone lines tested and they're going fine. Both machines also connect to the internet ok as well and have no problems.

The PC Anywhere server is running PC Anywhere v11, 33.6 External Hardware Modem, Windows 98 and it's an AMD Athlon Xp.

The client machine is running the same ver, 56k Intel Modem, Win98 and it's a P2 450.
Thanks in advance

I am having an issue with the audio on my laptop.
It's pretty straightforward; the sound is not working anymore.
At first I thought it was my headset, because I had them on when I noticed the problem, but I've tried them on my iPod and they are fine.
Now, when I plug it in my laptop, all I hear is a little screeching sound. No music, no sound from the YouTube video that's running, nothing.
So I tried the same thing without my headset plugged in: no sound is coming out of the laptop's speakers.

Everything was working fine yesterday night when I went to bed.
I can't understand what's going on. I haven't changed anything lately besides the installation of ASIO4ALL for my Fruity Loops Studio program yesterday night... yes it is an audio-related software but I figured if that is the problem I would've had some trouble right after it's installation last night.

My audio device is a "SigmaTel" and I'm running Windows XP 32-bit.

Could anyone help me out with this?

I Can't access internet anymore via explorer button, I just get a blank page no message, can anyone help?
This is a problem with a desktop computer.
I have windows 7 home premium.
I normally just click on the Explore button and I get my home page.
Yesterday I was surfing and clicked on a site and right after that my computer froze, and I wound up shutting it down. Once I restarted I found I could not reaccess the internet and was just geting a blank page. Yet all indicators were showing that I was connected to the internet from looking at the router and modem and also looking at the internet connection indicator at the very bottom right hand corner of my screen.
I tried a few things
1) shut down my computer and my power source which powers my modem and router and the restarted everything and nothing changed. I also went into the control panel to see if somehow my indicated home page was somehow wiped away, but it was still there as it should be. I wiped it away and retyped it, but that solved nothing either. The problem persists,
2) I went to my lap top and clicked on explorer and immediately got access to my home page and the internet, so my laptop is fine and I can access internet as usual.
3) This morning I checked and my desktop internet access was still not working. I though to access via Google Chrome, which I never do, although others in the house do us Google Chrome. Anyway, as soon as I clicked on Google Chrome I got access ... Read more

Hello, please run a FRST scan first so that we can exclude the presence of malware.  Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.(If you are not sure which version (32-/64-bit) applies to your system, download and try to start both of them as just the right one will run.)Start FRST with administator privileges.Make sure the option Addition.txt is checked and press the Scan button. When finished, FRST will produce two logs (FRST.txt and Addition.txt) in the same directory the tool was run from.
Please copy and paste these logs in your next reply.
